Its a shame about the impacts of the tornado on this beautiful cemetery. Found WP2 about 8m away under the cloud. The gravestone us starting to fade, but I could still make out the first word and then made my way to GZ. Thanks for a great cache. TFTC

Did a couple of jigsaws and re-solved a couple of history mysteries to fill my time before taking a trip to Hill End via Wellington. I decided to use geocaching to show me things in the area I had previously missed. It worked.

Highlights were a number of lookouts, the Cornish Roasting Pits, and an incredibly creepy looking graveyard.

Thanks to everyone who hid these caches. I was going to make a video of the trip for Valentines day but I left my laptop at Dubbo and I'm not returning there till after a baby is evicted from its cooshy home.

Very sad story which I read out as BHK86 did the driving on our scenic day out. Terrain rating was made slightly higher by the fallen tree blocking the road to the cemetery! A bit of teamwork soon had that moved out of the way and we continued on to an amazing hidden place. Info was obtained, co-ords were calculated and we continued on to GZ and made the find after a short search.

Thank you for bringing us here and sharing this bit of history.

Last stop on our adventure, we had to remove a fallen tree from the track before we could proceed. A very sad story. Had a look around and final co-ords calculated, log signed and returned

Hill End and Mudgee weekend April 2018. I set out late on Thursday after a small car battery issue. I only stopped once before a night at Bummeroo ford. Friday took me to Orange via many spread out caches between Oberon and Bathurst. I spent the night at Macquarie woods. Saturday started foggy and then warmed up. I was heading to Hill end, and did make it, but I had to give up on the Bridle track due to a rockfall. Late in the evening I did find a spot along the Turon river and the very bumpy northern section of the Bridle trail. Sunday had me finishing the TRLT trail from Mudgee to Gulgong and a few missed ones in the middle of nowhere. The last day was a simple drive home from Sofala. A great weekend !

After the rough morning start on the Bridle Track it was a relief to get to normal roads, even dirt ones. A fun exploration of Hargraves was next and I enjoyed the several stops caching provided, including morning tea.

Thanks.

We are staying at the Mudgee showgrounds and with this extreme heat we headed out early and got back to the caravan by mid afternoon and the comfort of the aircon. We enjoy these rural locations and this was one of the caches we targetted and found. We appreciated the extra effort put into some of the caches to provide a more creative hide. Thanks to Joshwa27 for placement of this cache and adding to our enjoyment of the area. Big GrinBig Grin

1/10/17. 9:36 AM. Cache #5340.
4th of 71 finds today.

Day 2 of the long weekend for which I have come up to plunder caches in the Mid West Regional council. Having started the day up in Gulgong, the next part of my morning saw me getting all the caches in Hargraves and Tambaroora to the south, before tackling The Road Less Travelled.

Still on foot after getting "Hargraves Haunted Louisa Creek Cemetery" and I had already solved for 'A' before I had left Sydney, although double-checked it when I was here. A short look at the graves and I soon had the other answer and a bit of a walk later I was off at the calculated GZ where I made an easy find. Time to get back onto sealed road for a little while, with "Hargraves Church" my next target. TFTC.

had to laugh at myself as I was looking for this one thinking it was a trad, but there was nothing at the coordinates. When I saw the error of my ways, i returned to the cemetery to get the info I needed and made a fairly quick find some minutes later. On the way to GZ, I was doubting my info, but it all turned out well as the coords were spot on.

Interesting walk with remnants of days gone by! So much history here! Thanks for placing this cache! : )

Well, due to a person giving me a wrong word, then number we made this way harder than it should have been, but, we did discover the 3rd cemetery in town while going elsewhere. In the end, an easy find.

Had a Geo expedition today with the Geo Parents, from Windeyer to Hargraves via Hill End. Many finds and a good time had by all.

The area has had a recent hazard reduction (burn off by the RFS). Fortunately, we were able to read the faint inscription and the cache was safe and sound in an area just outside the burnt area. It was a lot of fun driving along the very wet road with our son, IRON.BRAD egging me on to spin the tyres. By the way, he is 31 going on 16. TFTC

We got to GZ and started searching. No joy. Looked further afield but still nothing. Oh that's right, our second failure of cache note blindness. Its a multi. Drove up the track to turn around and saw a wild looking cemetery so thought we might jag it. Nope. Found another cache.

Finally got the required numbers, we were so close before, and I wandered through neat aussie bush to make a cache find. Nice blank log, and got the * FTF *. This multi took us ages, coords are good. S just read the notes.
