The original hiding place has been vandalised & is no longer suitable for a replacement cache.
Was doing a maintenance check on a few caches today & this one was Missing in action. Will replace ASAP.
Out in the area with Jag50 and Merlot58. The sun had finally come out and after lunch in the park we wandered over to locate this cache. Mrs Jag found this one.
Out here with Aiden29 and Merlot58. After we had lunch the sun finally came out and it was starting to get warm. Mrs Jag50 spotted this one.
Gorgeous afternoon for caching today, it's warm but not hot, a nice breeze in the air and off I go a caching! Came to GZ and I thought this will be trial! Sure enough I went up I went down around and around. Still no cache in hand, oh dear, it was looking like another potential DNF! Bugger that.... so I rang Ron (Agazo) and he gave me an idea to narrow down the cache hide. But having said that it still took me awhile to find, but I was a happy chappy when I did. Nice one Steve, I didn't think possible to hide something that big so carefully. A FP from me.
Took a couple of minutes with this one - partly as there were quite a few muggles around. Finally spotted it - bigger than what I though and in a nice hiding spot. Cache is in good condition. TFTC.
Failed on this one after searching for about 10 min. Then ran out of time and had to keep moving. Might have to come back another day.
This one took me about 100 tries before I got a confirming nudge from the PF. The trail was deserted today with the threat of rain, so I was able to search for a while and finally find the cache. TFTC.
With a few DNF's before us, we felt challenged. Four of us on a walk set to it and I was the successful one. Very clever!
Checked on cache this morning & it is still there......................very well hidden. Don't go "barking" up the wrong tree.
Encouraged by the recently replaced log, suppernanny, jard and I gave a thorough search but it must have walked off with Tracey. Found some black tape and a white piece tubing suitable for a log but no cache.
This must be a super clever Steve camo ....sorry to say it eluded 3 of us today......
New cache has been placed in same spot. Please make sure it can't be seen after you've put it back.
Lots of possible spots and lots of muggles so after a bit of searching had to give up. Thanks anyway.
Out and about with TF and we found 30+ caches today with no DNF's. This was a must do as the walk is named the same as Mrs TW. Lovely little stroll along here and the cache was quickly located. TFTC and of course a FAV from me.
We were looking forward to this one as I was caching with its namesake, TW. Thanks.
In all the years we have been to Maraetai we have never walked along this pathway, such beautiful views.
The muggles seemed to be co-operating today as after passing many on our way to GZ no more appeared until we had located the cache and signed the log.
This was very well hidden and we almost overlooked its hiding spot but we spotted it after a methodical search. TFTC.

Another year and the first trip for the team out and about while none of us had to work the following day. So todays little jaunt was to be up and arounf the Clevedon Maretai areas to see what we could get before sleep took hold of us. On this adventure in attenence were HKCB, iammrwalker and RWIMF. Departing Hamilton at 7pm after doing the pickups it was with high spirits and high expectations for another good caching year with plenty of miles to be covered before returning home tomorrow morning.
We hoped to get about 50 for the evening and my final taly was 57 finds along with 2 DNF's, not bad for a bunch of beginners.
What a great start, soon started to get into the swing of things and before long we were coolkng with gas.
THanks to all the cache owners whom placed the caches for us to find this evening. Am sure that we will be back again soon to continue our travels

At a recent local Geocaching event I mentioned in passing it had been a while seen we had done any night missions and maybe we could head out for a few hours one evening once the kids were tucked up in bed. Somehow that evolved into me jumping into a car with Cats&Dragons, HKCB and RWIMF at 7pm on the 29th and hopping out of the car eleven hours later at 6am on the 30th. We signed the cache logs RICH an acronym of Geocaching names. I didn’t get as many finds as the others as I crashed and fell asleep in the car for a couple of hours sometime between 3 and 4am. Thanks to all the CO’s for placing and maintaining all the geocaches we found on our trip and for my companions for making the evening so enjoyable. It was a bit stinky around GZ and I think the dark made the find a little harder to find that it may normally have been.
I received a phone call about 2pm asking what I was doing in the evening. I said nothing, so the boys said "come caching!" So we did, leving Hamilton at 7pm to spend the evening picking up caches. This was my No21 of the evening. All logs signed RICH.
Rotten fish, or more accurately mussles, at this cache. We searched all around GZ till I finally spotted this one, then came the interesting task of trying to reach it. I may have the shortest arms of the group... But still with a bit of determination I finally had the cache in hand and passed it to the others to sign. Then came the fun bit of negotioating myself out of the spot I'd gotten myself into...

It's been a while since we have done a night mission, so with a few ideas thrown about we settled on heading to the Beachlands/Maraetai area for a bit of a clean out and to locate the two night caches in the area. The team consisted of RWIMF, iammrwalker, Cats&Dragons and myself (HKCB), which meant we signed the logs as RICH an accornym of our caching names.
Leavng home about 7pm we cached through the night, with the goal to reach my 7000th find, unfortunately the late night counting wasn't accurate enough which meant I was 1 short of that goal, but still 67 finds for the night wasn't a bad effort. We all had a great night, and found a handful of really good geocaches as well. A big thanks to all the CO's for the placements.
Took a bit of searching but got there in the end.

This had us scratching our heads for a while but finally found it. Geo dog had a nice walk on the rocks while we completed the signing. Then on to find the next one. Its a nice walk along here. Thank you.
On holiday in New Zealand and have family that lives close by. Took a walk whilst the rest decided to swim. Unfortunately didn't have a pen so hope photo log is in order.
Loved the spot, gnarly old tree . . . . . searched for a while - 3 sets of eyes . . . . . no luck for us here today
After a DNF went to check it out.................it's still there so did a TB drop off.
Looked hard with KWT but no luck, there was a lot of muggle activity as well to contend with. 2nd DNF of the day.
Kids had fun finding this one. Thanks... forgot pen so will note it up next time.
Out and about this afternoon finding caches after work. I have not been out this way for a wee while. With all the new hides it is about time for another visit. I parked up at the western trailhead and began my walk. I soon arrived at GZ only to find some fishermen setting up. This meant I could only really concentrate on a couple of sides of the large specimen. After several minutes of searching, including one 360, I decided to retreat and gather some intel. On my return the fisher folk had spread along the coast and, therefore, presented much less of an obstacle to my efforts. Now able to fully focus on likely spots I soon came up with the goods this time. I took the TBs. Cheers for the cache placement!
Tooka a nice walk along the waterfront from the Omana Regional Park where I parked my caravan yesterday for the next few day. Hopefully I will be able to sign off a few caches around Maraetai/Beachlands while I am here.
This one is nicely hidden.
In: 2 TBs.
Cheers for the cache.

Braved the windy weather to take the kids out for some fresh air and geocaching. This was a sneaky little one which took a lot longer than it should have I picked up the TB, TFTC!
Out and about today enjoying the sunny day and getting a few cache finds. Nice hide here. SL. TFTC.
Quick find after some walkers moved along. Walk along here a few times with freinds over the years.
Checked cache tonight to make sure it's still there..................and it is .
This one has us stumped. Tried several times in last week or do but without success. Our nemesis!
It is very blustery and wet today, which made searching not much fun, but on the up side, no muggles! It took us quite a while and a read of back logs before Steed finally spotted what we were after. TFTC. Now we are off to Omana Park.
Always enjoy walking along this track, so its nice to have a new cache to find along the way. Took a few moments to find. TFTC.
Needed a cache of the day to continue our streak and with Mrs NZT having a minor eye operation late this afternoon I needed to call in a local emergency cache to fill the spot.
Even though the CO had pointed out to me where this hide would be after we had to disable a cache in the exact same location I still struggled with this one on dusk and a heap of muggles walking along the path.
Eventually I laid my hands on it and signed the log. I must have just missed the CO dropping off a geocoin as I don't remember seeing that in there.

Caching around Beachlands today. Such a nice sunny day to be out. A nice quick find today. Had to stretch for it.
We really love Traceys walk between Maraetai and Omana Esplanade. Always a picturesque little walk along here! We arrived at GZ and sat down awhile just taking in the view before hunting for the cache. Plenty of boats out today and also a waka hooning past with an outboard on the back which was quite a sight!
We quickly found the cache though and returned the way we came back to the car. Our last find for the day and another awesome day spent out exploring Maraetai. Thanks for your placements today, we had a lot of fun finding your caches!

This one took a while I was about to give up when the wife found it, 3rdtf, tftc.
Hmmmm hmmmmm where is it so many nooks and crannies. Good to find this after the box of chocolates debacle. No 4 for Leap Day
Was our last cache of the afternoon, as the weather had turned.
Mrs Newlynfam found this one, a very crafty hide.

Out with UncleSamNZ in Maraetai today picking up a few caches before the weather closed in, and before we were due at a friends house for dinner.
This was the last find of the day, as the weather had turned, so we hurried along quite quickly to GZ in the drizzle. Luckily there was a bit of cover, so we didn't get drenched completely.
Approached this one, and I formed an opinion of where it would be, so headed in that direction while UncleSam took another route. Was surprised to find it straight away- it really was quite a good hide, it's just that I had managed to spot it from the right angle!
Log signed, cache replaced, and we escaped before we turned into drowned rats! Had to head off for dinner anyway, but I'll have to come back for all the other Maraetai caches on a nicer day!
TFTC stevecoxnz!

Yay (FTF) for us. Sephie was at home sick so I bundled him in the car for some "fresh air" and off we went. He wa happy exploring rocks while I searched at gz. We are a good team . TFTC. Nicely hidden!
