Had a DNF here 5yrs ago & back today to earn a smiley. No wonder i didnt find it last time, coords had me on the other side of the path, around 8m away. Ended up that same side again today & just as much frustration. Finally spotted part of the hint & then read back on the logs for more help. Finally found it. Glad to tick this one off. [TFTC]
Our Denver connection found it! Thanks Vinny!! Pink sign and 5 large paces helped! Left a trinket behind for the next finder!!
Day 2 of 4 staying over Easter weekend, and found 6 caches this morning. With miniAG. TFTC

Couldn't find it with GPS and hint but quite visible when I raised my eyes
Tree that cache is in is very rotten, don't know how long it'll be standing. Never been to this park before and it's a beautiful day so thank you!
Walked straight past it at first. The hint actually took me in a different direction. But a smiley face was obtained
Clues didn't exactly help....but with two pairs of eyes it was eventually found..Thanks for your lovely series.
Staying here for the weekend in the Self contained carpark.
The hint needs updating on this one, no red marker & dead tree. Cache had fallen out of tree & was in the mud, replaced with the tie. Previous finders don't seem to be signing these logs, no pen or armchair cachers !?

Out this way today doing maintenance.....all is good here, added new log sheets....
Happy caching....
Happy caching....
Tricky as it’s certainly not the 1st tree on the yellow track. Decrepit tree instead. The log is a little second hand looking and probably needs replacing soon.
GPS seemed to send us in all directions but eventually we found the cache. Tftc
GPS was sending us in all directions to begin with, but soon settled, and had the cache in hand. TFTC
No luck today.
Spent a good while here, decided to move on.
Next time.......

Spent an excellent day with Keylev. Super wet day, soggy hiking boots but a boat load of caches to show for it!
This one took a bit of time to find, but with 2 heads are better than 1, we found it eventually. TFTC

B4Dawn and I had made plans to adventure in the general Awhitu area to walk and clear out some caches but then the rain set in....ah we don't mind that lets go anyway...just pack the waterproof clothes and jackets!! There were periods it was quite clear and others with really bad wind and rain that made us question what the hell we were doing out but as always it was an adventure and of course some smiley faces to be had.
LOVED the walk through the arched trees around this part of the park. Backtracked on ourselves slightly to get to GZ. Cache where it was expected, log signed and we were on our way again.
Thanks for the cache.

This is really hard to find. The clue first tree does not make any sense at all. Old tree rather than first tree is a better clue
Found with squishysgirl a little while ago but I didn't log due to phone issues so I am catching up now tftc clue and description truly makes no sense here
Out on a geocaching trip. Staying at Awhitu Regional Park. Thanks for hiding Stik-a-crane
Found but 1st tree makes no sense at all to this cache there are many around before and after
Today was the day Team G0LD (Geocachers 0B80B8, Lis's crew and DaffyNZ) finally got to collect the crayola puzzles. As Pete said we'd planned this trip ages ago but covid-19 got in the way.
I left my sons in Whangarei at 5am and got back home to Paihia at 11pm. It was a long day but I really enjoyed it. We found all the crayola series, a few trads near them, a few other solved puzzles. In the middle of the series we headed up to Awhitu Regional park to get a cache that required low tide. Along the way we even managed two FTF's giving us a total of just over 100 for the day.
Sorry about the cut and paste logs. This one was another quick find before heading onto the beach then out to the island with dry feet (YIPEE!!). Thanks for the caches around this reserve

Off on a mission today with Team G0LD ( Geocachers 0B8, Lis & Daffy ) to finally do the Crayola 64 series. The puzzles had been solved ages ago, but due to two Covid forced delays, it was only now we could coordinate schedules and head south from Whangarei to make the finds.
Part way through the 64 series, we decided to make a dash for Awhitu, to collect as many of the trads and bonus puzzles up here as possible. The tide was also supposed to be low around 2:30 and we should also be able to walk out to the island too. However, when we arrived there was still 100 metres of water surrounding the island, so we decided on doing the park walk first.
A nice quick find here on our walk. TFTC

Out with Team Gold (Liz Crew and 0B80B8) picking up as many caches as possible in the South Auckland area. After picking up a bunch of Crayola puzzle caches we decided to head up South Head and collect the series at Awhiti.
The team soon located just of the track. TFTC

The two youngest davidsonclan children and dad have come camping for the night at Awhitu what a lovely spot quiet exploring the tracks now.Tftc
Camping the weekend for the Leap day camp/Bbq. Hoping to get lots of caches for Leap Day on calendar.
Those who had camped the Friday night headed out early to get to the island at low tide, finding caches along the way.
1st cache of the day! TFTC

Needing a cache for my leap year dot day, and staying at the camp ground. Wandered down after breakfast for a quick find, TFTC
Located this one on the walks around the Leap Year Campout Event. Enjoyable walk with FMG & Helephant, no problem with the find TFTC.
I got to the Leap Year Campout 2020 a bit early, so I zipped over with alunb to get this one first. I think I looked for this one a while ago, but today this was a quick find. TFTC.
After the camp out had a wander around the rest of Awhitu. First stop - here. TFTC.
After walking back from the Island, made the detour to find the cache. All good here tonight
Great to grab a few caches in the park on the way to the leap year event. Grabbed this one with other local cachers. Thanks CO for the cache.
Leap year! I had arrived about 9am this morning for the 2020 event, I was supposed to come down last night but with the hot heat at work, I was far too tired to bother even though I had paid for the night. Instead I said to FMZ who was enquiring from me when I was going to come along, that I turn up this morning. So after a nice brekky of sausages and eggs and fresh bread, I wandered over to this cache.
Initially I misread the cache page title, I thought it meant 'yellow sign' and there was a yellow triangle thing tacked to a tree and no wonder then I didn't find the cache! But further along the track on the LH side going away from the campsite, I did indeed find the cache. Cheers Aaron!
That's enough caching for me today, just one cache, now it's time to head back and socialise with more food etc.

Had a fun weekend camping out down here at Awhitu and took the opportunity to rack up some Feb 29 finds with a bunch of nice cache hides around the regional park, some with small groups from the campout and others by myself while riding around the park on my eBike. Great weather and great company, including the CO for a short while also. TFTC!!!

Did this cache with VibhaHB as IuryBR was waaaaaay too excited and did this out in the middle of the night after setting up the tent!

After calling in to say hi at the Leap Year Campout 2020 event we came down to find this cache. Thanks Stik-a-crane.
After setting up camp at the Leap Year camping trip my muggle friend and I decided to head out later in the afternoon as it had cooled down a bit. Meet up with Georick and carried on the yellow track circuit with them.
Not quite at the Leap Year Campout Event (although we are early as it does not start till 3pm)
Making my way down the hill with gely57, we are all spread out, and the phone is putting us on one side of the track, we are not alone, as there are a few geotrails in here.
Again it is mrs gely57 who is on the other side of the track who calls out she had found it
Another fun find, thanks for the hide stik-a-crane, beware the blackberry, not quite ripe enough for eating, but oh so ready for scratching

Our first cache during the Leap Year 2020 camp event in Auckland. IuryBR found the night of setting up our tents, gave Line_Moh a cheeky smile to which she then found the cache. Easy find that is still next to the track.
Found this one during the event Leap Year Campout 2020 Auckland - GC8HQ7K. Arrived there Friday night with Line_Moh and VibhaHB. After setting up the tent and had a late dinner, I decided to go on a night hunting for a little bit more challenging and adventure. Ladies didn't come with me. In the beginning I was looking in the wrong side and after a bit I decided to check the Hint and expand my search, soon after that I had the cache in my hands. New logbook, means the cache is been treated well.

New log sheet added and cache fully checked out.....all is as it should be.
Happy hunting.

HINT: Don't have a man look.
If you dig you will find.

No idea where this was. Nothing seemed to match any of the cache hint or description
Strolling another of New Zealand’s lovely regional parks and collecting the caches as we go.Started off at the right tree but missed it on the first look went back to look again and there it was.
Find number 4693. Doing a walk around the park. I came around the beach so had to back track a little to this one. Nice quick find here. Thank you for the placement.
I was caching with Coldstream, Fluffy0ne and Redco5 I found it on the way back from the beach.
Out camping with the family (Coldstream, Dragondefender & Redco5) and did a few caches along the way. Nice easy find on the way back from a swim. Great cache thanks!!
On another family walk. Clever hide, difficult access almost requiring contortionist expertise! Great spot, though. Thanks
Continuing on with the track, during our day of caching on the Awhitu Peninsula with KirsTim, vistra and yorkshirekiwi83. Another speedy find here, thanks for the hide!
Spent today exploring and caching around the Awhitu Peninsula, together with Vamber, KirsTim and Yorkshirekiwi83, signing the logs as KKKTTS.) Parked up then went for a good wander around the Regional Park. Had a few options of places to look, but found the cache soon enough. TFTC!
After investigating the cliff to another cache we realised it was below us so we decided against trying for it. There's obviously been a lot of planting since the cache was placed as there were a LOT of trees before this one, but quickly found the cache with 5 of us searching, thanks
Out caching with KrisTim, Vamber and vistra (signed logs as KKKTTS or a variety thereof) around the Awhitu Regional Park TFTC, not sure what the CO meant by the title of the cache as there were many other trees in each direction, but we soon had it in hand
Easy find thanks !!!!
Loving the sunny balmy weather we have for our adventuring today!
Thanks Stik-a-crane.

Thanks Stik-a-crane.
Coordinates indicated west side of the track, where there were lots of geotrails, but I found the cache elsewhere. The hint was useful but the cache name was misleading. Thanks Stik-a-crane for a walk in a wonderful regional park.
