Archiving as I will not be able to check on this cache until at least the summer.
Apologies for the lower post. I thought we found it, but unfortunately DID NOT found it
Waded along for a look but saw the prickles and retreated. Looks like a machete job?
I've been wanting to get these three secret beach caches for a few years now as they are near where we live. And not owning a boat, this year we now have suitable water craft as Stand up paddle boards were bought for Christmas and got their first use today. Unfortunately we didn't find this cache and did look thoroughly in the GZ. The bank is overgrown with blackberry however, and if the cache is up the bank, some battle wounds from the blackberry are in store for a keen hunter.
Myself and the grandkids searched and searched for this but obviously missed it. Great little beach though.
On another Team BOP road trip heading to clear out some caches around Lake Taupo.
The three Secret Beach caches were on our targeted cache list.
It took a while to find a walk track that leads us the right direction towards the caches.
This was the second cache to tackle because we couldnt find an access to #3 initially and we found a side track leading down to this secret beach. There really wasnt much of a beach here either, and in fact, the erosion to the foreshore here was significant. Between the overgrown ($#%^*)! blackberries and the waters edge, there really wasnt much of an area we could search.
After covering the area thoroghly, eventually we found a log to sign. In the meantime, I took advantage of the dead calm lake and took a few pics - attached.
Thanks for bringing me down to remote area of the lake.

On a road trip with part of Team BOP having a fun day. These three caches were all a bit of a challenge as we didn't have the recommended mode of travel. Took a little while to find a good track down but obviously others had been there before us. The foreshore has certainly got some damage on it and yes seriously overgrown with blackberry. We spent a lot of time and then finally Tnxpto had a log in hand. Signed and then we were back off up the hill. TFTC TFTC
Like my team mates before me, the blackberries made for difficult searching, lots of scratches were left on arms and ripped clothing...Argh!! None the less, this is certainly a magical spot, made even more magical by the soft Waiata's being sung across the waters somewhere beyond...very memorable, many thanks.
Unfortunately, master 11 and I DNF. Lake quite high, no real shore. Had fun wading around to the coordinates, be prepared to get your undies wet! Will try another day, next time may take the kayak.
I walked up the track from the DOC camp and just as the steps started I headed down to the lake past a couple of traps. At the waters edge which appeared a lot higher than photos earlier I steped down and into the water but unlike my first attempt I have now read the discription and realised what I was looking for. GZ was a bit further around from entry point which wasnt easy to get at unless I went further out around the branches but I managed to stoop enough to get under with out getting wet but my short legs I had to pull my shorts up as far as I could
then bingo there it was
I love a good challenge and this is it
many thanks

Didn't mind wading around here for a look but could only search for about 5mins before I got too cold and was aware of family anxiously waiting for me back at Omori... so like the last 2 searchers I gave up empty handed, partly because there were so many blackberries around and also figured it likely to be washed away by bad weather...
Will return in summer for a more thorough look.

Found the secret beach easily enough but could not find cache. there is only a scrap of shoreline here separating the water from the blackberries. Gave Up.
There's some nasty blackberry around here. It's getting late and I'm thinking of the hot springs More effort required for this one.
Managed to get to it without the cuts and scratches. Great cache. TFTC & here's a FP
Quite an adventure to find. A bit of wading required. And then a 10 minute search. Coming back we discovered the path leading directly from the beach to the base of the stairs just south of the omori beach. Tftc.
Wow, the places you go for the Cache. This took me through prickled bushes, and into the water just to get to the GZ. Luckily for me, once I found the GZ for whatever reason I picked something up and there it was, truly creative. TFTC #26
Total fail very scratched so much scrub hiding the tree bases we gave up. Disappointed with lack of hints.
1.50pm - We soon found the secret track to the secret beach, then the fun began, quickly found the decoy which we placed back. All the bloody blackberries here. After lots of looking in, under and over things and picking up roller things over , found it. I think we had already moved it a couple of times. Had to engrave our names in log as pen had run out of ink. SLTFTC
With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... Travelling around the south-western shores of Lake Taupo. Our plan is to clear out as many caches as possible, before the Mega Event turns this area into crazy-land...
We decided to leave the high difficulty caches in the area for last... This secret beach is not so much of a secret anymore. We followed the pathway toward the lake and came out on a narrow stretch of shoreline. We were confronted with a huge wall of blackberry... That immediately sucked the wind out of our sails... We were probably half-hearted in our search thereafter. We found the 'kids bonus' cache, but couldn't figure out what we were searching for here. You could hide an elephant in this mess... After much frustration and irritation, Gap found what we were looking for... Glad to get this one finally. We discovered that our pen was completely out of ink here, so we've had to tattoo our names onto the log... TFTC.

We went for a walk later in the day when the heat was cooling off...a nice time of day for caching.Discovered a secret path leading to the Secret Beach...logged the cache without getting our feet wet!Very quiet and peaceful spot and the lake was calm too! TFTC!
The lake water level seems to up higher than in Punga and Paua's photos, so the beach was rather minimal and did some wading to get there. I found one of the treasures before I found the cache and left the treasure for a younger cacher. Then took a second look at an object that had caught my attention earlier and indeed it was the cache. I was random caching, hadn't read the information, so hadn't brought a marker pen, but the Powertank pen sufficed. Thanks for the challenge. Great idea for a cache. Gets a favourite from me.
After a quick glance at this cache we suspected we knew exactly where this Secret Beach was located. After a day of monsoon rain we decided not to go looking until the next morning, and were prepared to be disappointed with our theory. But on arrival we became even more convinced our memories were not wrong and it wasn't long before we were battling the blackberries to reach the cache. The logbook was saturated and the marker pen struggled to leave our mark. We searched further for the two additional cache hides but could only find one, perched openly rather than hidden. We left it and contents where we found it. The other remains a mystery as dense and savage bramble branches are taking over the area making searching very difficult. We have had stormy weather since the cache was placed, with rough lake conditions and wonder if the waves could have affected the hides. Today the lake was glassy calm and equipped with trekking pole and gumboots we managed an FTF without getting wet, but we still looked like we'd been through a hedge backwards! TFTC.
