Nice

A good hide in a useful shortcut in Kapiti (like it says on the box!). Even with the hint, there were a few places to look with my bouncy GPS but got there in the end. In excellent order. TFTC tmann421

29-Mar-24
Out and about with Flowerydaze catching up on some solved puzzles, some multi's and some trads. Took some searching to get this one out in the open but with Flowerdaze's assistance we got there. Thanks for the cache tmann421

Macfam41 found it while taking the geo dog for a walk. First to sign new log sheet. Cool cache container. TFTC

Missing cache replaced.

05-Jan-24
We are now pleased to be able to log a Find with the kind permission of the CO, as the cache was indeed missing when we searched and we had looked in the right place. It's always great to be able to replace a blue face on the map with a smiling one. Thank you tmann421.

26-Dec-23
After the exhaustion of family busyness and Xmas Day we decided we would like to get away for a bit and come down to the always welcoming Kapiti Geocachers Event for Boxing Day, and of course collect a few geocaches along the way. We encountered a little bit of rain on the way down but enjoyed fine, sunny conditions for our cachingSadly we think this cache might be missing. A chat with the CO has confirmed we were at the right host object but it was not as it should be and we could not locate the bison.

**19,140**A nice quick find here, a great little walkway. TFTC

Loving these different hides, found very quickly, tftc tmann421

Saw a block on the top of the light and thought Yes!! That's it! Just climb up the fence and... Won't this suffer a lot from muggles? And then I saw the real hide. Much more likely!

I heading to an event to celebrate The Return of the Tmann with TaybeeNZ, but we are a couple of hours early, so filling in time with a bit of geocaching. This month's souvenir challenge is about gathering a bunch of points and I figured I would not make the total do to a lack of geocaching time between now and the end of the month, so we targeted high favourite caches, figuring that would help. I logged each find immediately with a temp log, to help me track how the points are going. As it is we ended up blowing past the target just with today's work, and there is still two thirds of a month left!

Log signed as TATS (TaybeeNZ and the Seagnoid)

10-Sep-23
Quick find. Signed as T.A.T.S. TFTC

Quick find! Thanks

24-Apr-23
Nice find while biking the area. Tftc

01-Apr-23
On my way home after spending the night at my Boy's. I had left earlier than intended, and after consulting the map, I decided a good, uncomplicated place to stop would be Pekapeka. I don't know, but somehow, I ended up here. Not to worry, a find is a find. Thanks for this series on shortcuts. Managed 2 today.

26-Mar-23
Container replaced with a bison for now.

25-Mar-23
Checked on cache today - outer container still there but cache gone - will fix it soon.

16-Feb-23
Looked easy but found nothing to see here this time.

16-Feb-23
No luck today.

We'll be back when the weather is a bit more conducive.

Next time.......

15-Aug-22
Quick find of the clever hide, thanks for keeping it interesting tmann421!

29-Jul-22
Very clever hide. All clear retrieving and signing. As I was putting back a dog walker appeared out of nowhere but hopefully i was out of line of sight long enough. Thanks for the clever cache Smile

27-Mar-22
Thank you for all you have added we are having great fun finding them

17-Feb-22
A nice quick easy find whilst here for a couple of days

16-Feb-22
Great fun doing these caches. Quick find. Tftc

03-Feb-22
Stopped off to find this one while out looking for green power boxes. Getting through the short-cut caches slowly. All good here, tftc!

10-Dec-21
We'd thought we'd take advantage of a break in all the wet and wild weather we've had lately and head out for a bit of Christmas shopping and caching.
We are slowing knocking off all the 'shortcuts' each time we visit the area.
No problem making the find here if you're a seasoned geocacher, but nicely hidden from muggle eye's. Simple but effective!
Thanks for putting this here for us to find

05-Dec-21
Quick find after a birthday party, junior ran ahead and found it before he even new where it was! Must be getting his geocaching eye in!
Thanks!

14-Nov-21
Look for something out of the ordinary

A quick easy find of a nicely camouflaged cache which gets a favourite from us. TFTC

#1684. Let’s celebrate the release from COVID Alert Level 3, to Delta Alert Level 2 by going on a cache-hunt up to the Kapiti coast. GB Leader and I decided to spend a couple of nights at Paraparaumu Beach, and find a few 10+ FP hides towards the next Peak, Vinson, in the Reach the Peak saga.

This was find #3 for the day. Great cache. GB Leader spotted the location. Still following my friend JLOO who was here before lockdown.

Tftc tmann421.

Enlightening

A clever urban cache and a quick grab - all was quiet down the walkway. Was with muggles mother she was onto it, she's being initiated into the GC clan. TFTC.

Thanks tmann421 for placing this cache

It was well located for spotting any approaching muggles and not too overlooked by neighbouring property's so gets a FP

17-Nov-19
Another very clever cache, but still found quickly on a gloomy Sunday. The log book is in pieces unfortunately. Adding a favourite point. TFTC

17-Nov-19
Replaced the logsheet with waterproof paper.
Hide not exactly as intended so will return and fix in next few days.

09-Nov-19
Needed a cache today to deal to a dot day. This was it. We were visiting in the Waikanae area this afternoon and went after this one before heading home. Found it reasonably quickly, although my iPhone was indicating GZ to be 10m away! #2842. TFTC.

03-Nov-19
Log book isn’t healthy but I found a place to sign it - after taking 5 minutes to spot the sign to the walkway - muggles do part their cars in the wrong places!!
Apologies for the late log. TFTC tmann421

***[======== NZ Mega 2020 ========](http://nzmega.com)***

Planning for the [NZ Mega 2020](http://nzmega.com) event is well underway. It will be held in Auckland over Labour Weekend, 23 to 26 October 2020. It's going to be a massive celebration of geocaching:

* 20 years of geocaching worldwide.
* 20 years since New Zealand had the very first geocache hidden outside of USA.
* And it's 2020 - all the 20s!

Talk to your geo-friends and start planning to be part of [this event](http://nzmega.com) - you won't want to miss it!

26-May-19
Cool place to hide a little cache. TFTC

16-May-19
In an effort to get myself close to 1000 finds ahead of the WENZ Mega last October (so that the Mega itself could be my 1000th), I spent an evening in Waikanae trying to get as many caches as possible, including the first 3 of the 'Short Cut' series.
But I hadn't been back to try for some of the ones I missed back then until this afternoon, courtesy of finishing work early and making the most of the good weather.

Unlike a couple of the previous finds of this series, this one was an immediate find with the first object I saw. I don't know whether my geo-senses have become a little more attuned over the last few months or whether I was just lucky, but I was happy either way.

There were no muggles around so the logbook was easily extracted, signed, and replaced in a trice and then I was back on my way again. Thank you for setting up this cache.

04-May-19
It's funny how cachers get attuned to spotting something just a little different - - - next minute we were signing the log. Thanks for the hide.

Quick easy find even though clever hide.

02-Jun-18
In the area with some time to spare, so of course will spend it finding some of the local caches. Another great hide and a quick find. The log book is a bit damp here and starting to fall apart. TFTC

13-May-18
Arrived in the area early for football and needed a cache for today. This one was nearby and was a quick find with excellent coords. All good at GZ.
Found with wb-jnr

Thanks tmann421 for the cache. This is our find number 769 and we found it at 3:55 PM on 8 February 2018.
Quick grab while passing thru Waikanae this lovely sunny afternoon.

28-Dec-17
That was a quick grab. We liked a lot the tree where we stopped. But we also like shortcuts like this for pedestrians and bike riders.
And the box is very nice as well.
Thanks for the cache!

27-Dec-17
Lovely tui singing nearby. Another nifty find. TFTC

05-Jun-17
A quick park and grab, perfect.

26-Apr-17
Cool hide

18-Apr-17
I realised after I returned home yesterday that I could have done this one while working on a multi stage puzzle, but as I had decided to save the final of that one till today anyway to fill in a dot day it was easy enough to divert here after completing it and another cache in the area.

GPS was trying to mislead me slightly but with a bit of intuition I soon saw something likely and sure enough it was the cache.
All quiet and peaceful and the cache was in good condition.
Shortcut was useful as it headed basically in the direction I needed to go.
Last cache of the day, enjoying much better weather than in Wellington.
TFTC.

06-Mar-17
Came up the coast today to knock off some of the Waikanae caches. A quick find in a nice hide. Thought there may be a problem as a new fence has been erected. No worries. All in order. TFTC

05-Mar-17
I'm not sure what it is about this hide that looks completely like it should be there yet also begs to be checked for a geocache. Quite a quick find depsite being very well hidden. TFTC.

05-Feb-17
Find #2738. Great day to get on the bike and collect a few random caches. Made a detour to find this after being on the washed out river trail . Not sure why bicycles are prohibited along this path. Chose to ignore the sign! Quick find of a very good hide. SL TFTC

27-Dec-16
11pm and nothing to do, so son and I decided to tiki-tour around Waikanae while we were down from Tauranga visiting family.

Only 1 cache to go till my 1700th cache, so I targeted tmann421 caches that were new since I was last here.

I enjoyed the previous Short-Cut caches, so this was an obvious cache to come to next.

Its a great spot, and luckily didnt need the torch here, but even though well lit, was still kind of a creepy place at this time of night. My son found the sneaky straight away.

Thanks Tmann for this continued series.

And now on to my 1700th cache...

25-Dec-16
Last find for the night on the way home on the bike. Quite dark now but a nearby light source helped that. Cache jumped straight out at me. Thanks for an excellent series of urban micros, they have had some worthwhile effort put into them. TFTC!

26-Nov-16
Morning caching in Kapiti area. No trouble finding the cache. Thanks tmann421 for the cache.

05-Oct-16
Was in the area trying to pick up a cache that I've been targeting, but failed. Decided to pick up a couple of park n grabs to make sure it wasn't a waste of a trip. Followed the path and spotted something that looked ordinary, but with a little examination discovered the hide. Sneaky! TFTC

04-Oct-16
3.30pm. Much easier than the others in this series.
Thank you. David.

24-Sep-16
Out and about bright and early for a caching trip to Waikanae area today. Having been part way up Paekakariki Hill Road and into Queen Elizabeth Park, now making my way into Raumati and Kapait before heading to Waikanae for lunch. Made my way down the walkway and quickly spotted the crafty cache. No dramas with hearing voices this time, although I did have to wait until the muggle and baby ahead of me had moved off the walkway before retrieving. Another FP. TFTC

24-Sep-16
Nice and easy, even with the rain

27-Aug-16
A great hide, no muggle would ever spot that one.

TFTC

24-Aug-16
Have been looking forward to checking out the latest in this sneaky little series and finally made it up these ways today. Unfortunately Lisa had cache in hand before I had even decided to start looking.... Might have to start leaving her at home!

18-Jul-16
GPS was accurate and a bit of experience helped to recognise the hide. Very nicely done. A quick turnaround as we make our way back home to Tauranga. TFTC

02-Jul-16
Out for some fresh air and a walk with a few caches thrown in, this being the second for the arvo.

GPSr had us heading further on down the alley but my geosenses were working well today and had me thinking, I wonder if that's it - yes it was!

Signed log and left as found - clever camo tmann421. Thanks for the placement.

15-Jun-16
Took the short-cut and found it after a short search. Cheers and TFTC

03-Jun-16
Found this one after a short search (how did I miss it the first time?!) My excuse was that the GPSr was placing me about 6 metres back along the path so there were lots of places to search. Nicely done cache! Signed log, TFTC.

Cache # 3,196 - lucky to have a nice break between the torrential rains. Quick find in the logical location, got muggled as I was finishing signing the log, but the pair of dog-walkers simply commented on how nice it was to have a break in the rain. Made sure they were well out of sight before replacing cache. TNLNSL. TFTC!

Consecutive caching day # 1,113

26-May-16
Z went straight to it!
Nice hide. Tftc!

14-May-16
#2231. I headed up to Waikanae today to pick up a few targeted caches and also do some others in the area. This was the first of what would be a number of tmann421 caches I found today. Parked in the nearby dead end street and wandered down the short-cut pathway. Wasn't sure what sort of hide awaited me but once at the GZ I spotted it immediately. Nicely presented cache and well constructed. This sort of hide would have stumped me a year or so ago but have done a few caches on shortcuts now so starting to get a good feel for the types of caches you can put out in these public places. No muggles seen in either direction so lots of time to sign and return. Thanks for the cache.

12-May-16
I was around in this area for a day or two visiting schools so it is always necessary to find at least one cache each day and today it was this one . No body was a round today and so after arriving at Gz and having met a few of these short cut caches I knew I had to look for a special something as it was a ? cache.
soon located, retrieved, signed and replaced.
Thank you for the cache and another smiley face.

02-May-16
I had a feeling what to be looking for and sure enough Smile. I like the cache container very much! Thank you for the cache!

23-Apr-16
