Had an absolute ball getting to this one from the nearby Lord of the Rings cache. After my previous experience of leaving the track in this reserve I had pretty much decided to stay to the well made tracks. That was until I saw a pretty cool, steep and very slippery path down the side of the mountain. Alright, that looks like way too much fun! So down I went, and managed to stay on two feet too, which was surprising. Anyhow, popped out on the right track a few hundred meters down from where this cache was supposed to be. Made my way to GZ but after a pretty extensive search I turned up nothing. That's when I read the previous logs (which I probably should have done before hand).
Thanks for the adventure Quasar, but pretty sure this ones gone.

Very disappointed, you do not deserve to call yourselves geo cachers...I have tracked for 3 days now to find nothing...

Bugger :surprise: Jim and I searched for a while but given the evidence of heavy rain fall, the flood level markings and the potential size of the box, my bet is on "washed away"

No sign of cache here today. From the height of the flood debris and the position to which the GPSr was pointing I suspect it was washed away.
The sign says park closed due to bushfire damamge and /or fuel reduction

Toads greeted Kmace and I as we stepped through swampy ground to the site. A bit of a climb to to quick spot. Cache is is good condition. Took binocular left stubbie holder. Good spot to visit if you dont mind a little mud and water. creek is flowing almost at capacity
Found this one with Irontoad today. Great spot but extremely muddy and swampy today. Took binoculars and left stubby and TJ Game. Great cache. Certainly an interesting spot. Thought we might get rained on here but it was fine. Stopped and had some snacks before continuing onto the other caches in the area.

I thought at first that my eTrex was telling me porkies as I was expecting a slightly different location but in the end I relented and followed its electronic prompts only to be reminded that it knows best. A great spot that I previously knew nothing of. Nice bird life and some welcome shade. Took the Australia pen and left some old ladies earrings that a friend passed onto me for the purpose of caching. Thanks Quasar. Thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.
Visited this cache, and removed the old broken container and contents. Virtually nothing was salvagable, so replaced it with a brand new container which should be watertight. Also restocked with some new items and log book. Also slightly smaller container now but still a large cache by modern standards. I was hoping to get the two hilltop caches nearby but piked when I saw the steep slope. Will return when I feel a bit better! The two colours of the water entering the river are still very clear. Thanks to all who have visited, and sorry it's taken so long to get it back together. The cache is in the same spot as before.

It is really just a pile of rubbish, miss 13 said from down the hill 15-20 mts from co-ords I FOUND IT.
I had a look and yelled don't touch that its not it, but yes it was log book like a wet sponge you can wring out. Everything else rusted and yuck.
This one is a disgusting pile of mess in a very beautiful spot, it is a shame.

Gorgeous spot, it is such a beautiful area TFTC
Worth a visit even if the cache is smelly and yuck.
Some interesting mining relics nearby. I think thats what they were.

This cache is destroyed just a black garbage bag in a container with destroyed smelly log book nearly didn't look at it as we thought it was fox bait or rubbish really needs to be archived or removed for another cache to be placed in such a beautiful place
This cache is in bad shape. Currently held together by a plastic bag. As I was printing up a whole lot of caches prior to a camping trip in the area, I had not read the prior logs for this cache before I started the hunt. I normally have a spare container with me but I had used it on a recent central Australia hunt. This cache needs a new container ASAP.

I have had this one on my list for AGES - I printed out the page some time in 2006! For several reasons I left it and the one up the hill, but recent finds and the need to get some exercise encouraged me today.
It was a lovely sunny winter day and the walk in was delightful. On approaching gz I was gearing up for a long search but managed to walk straight to the cache with 15m showing on the GPS. (See encryption below) Previous logs re its condition are correct, although Geodes' good thinking in letting things drain meant that the water and smell were absent. A tiny scorpion had to be ejected though.
The log was too damp so a piece of paper was left although that will suffer the same fate. I removed some of the now rubbish too. Thanks Quasar for the placement. ] Cache is about 8m from the bottom of the slope, in the clear, and easily accessed from below.

Found at 11:50am with Eudes after taking a short detour from our bushwalk - and getting a bit behind the rest of the crew. The cache was certainly pretty sad. It was exposed, sitting upside down with a broken lid and everything in it had been soaked and now gave off an appalling stench. The whole lot needs to be thrown away and replaced with a new container. It was only just possible to sign the soggy log book.

Boy does this one need some TLC . This was only about 120 metres or so from our walk route so I knew we had to try and find it. The co-ordinates put us a fair bit up the hill in a real "haystack" area. We spent a fair bit of time searching around GZ before Al moved further down the hill and was able sing out that cry we all love to hear at 11:50 . (Hey, I'll take a GAFF5 any day .)
Both of our GPSrs were saying that we were about 7-8 metres from the indicated GZ and the co-ordinates that I took (and have posted here) showed that we were due east.
As Geodes noted in his log though, the cache is in a pretty bad state. And it stinks!!! It's a wonder that you can't simply put the GPSr away and follow your nose . Nevertheless, the search was over and that's one that is now consigned to the memory banks rather than the "to do" list .
TNLNSL, although our round tuit geocoin had a visit to mark the occasion of finding one that's been in Geko for a long, long time . Thanks Quasar.

No such luck here, if previous logs indicate that the cache was in the open, then i am unsure if it is still there. Mabye i am just blind! Prehaps the owner could go and check it out?

With only a couple of finds since 2005, this cache obviously isn't all that popular - although with a few newies not too far away, it might attract a few visitors prepared to make the hike (like me ). Actually, I've been meaning to have a go at it for a while as it's been one of my closest to home unfound caches for some time, so I was happy when a newie was placed at the start of the track so I wouldn't be too disappointed if this one was no longer there. Having found it now, I think some of the last few logs were a little unkind - the cache container was pretty much 'cactus' and had been wrapped up in a black garbage bag and was totally filled with evil smelling water and the swaps were ruined (I didn't check closely though - the smell was pretty bad) - but it didn't take very long to find and the co-ords were pretty good and I don't think anyone with a modern GPSr would have any trouble finding it in good time. The logbook was in a separate little jar and, while quite damp, could be opened and I found Luckdogscrew's entry (from 18+ months ago) and made mine on the same page after which I took the remains of the container out of the garbage bag, inverted it over the swaps and stuck a few sticks on top to keep it down and tucked the glass jar/logbook in next to it.
I'm a bit annoyed at myself, as I'd noted the comments about the broken container some time ago and had intended to take a replacement when I tried for the cache - but I scuttled out of the house in such a hurry this morning that I wasn't even totally sure of which caches I would be going for - and clean forgot about a replacement . If a future finder feels inclined to do some cache maintenance, it needs a new container (and a new logbook/ziplock bag would be a good idea too). In addition, a garbage bag would be essential to carry out the old container/swaps - the smell was pretty bad when I opened the bag up today, although now that it's open to the air and can drain, the smell will probably dissipate.

Thanks Quasar - it's a really lovely area and I'm always particularly fond of a walk beside a waterway. I think most cachers would quite enjoy this cache.

What a nice walk along this path - pity that Luck Dog couldn't join us. We did see quite a few people out for a horse ride which was nice!
The cache itself is SOAKING wet. I managed to write in the log book, once I'd wringed some water out of it. The cache container is also cracked, probably letting in a lot of water.

I was very disappointed with the quality of this cache. Given the proximity of the hills, satellite coverage is very weak. More clues need to be given about it's location. I suspect it has not been maintained for quite some time, and the many fallen trees almost left this cache permanently concealed. Upon finding the cache (after about an hour's searching), I was even more disappointed to find everything saturated. It is pointless trying to log one's find.
The owner needs to maintain the upkeep of this cache or remove it's listing.

Boy did I have to work for this one, thought I would be smart and follow GPS where it wanted to go instead of following track mmm not a smart move. Cache was half full of water (or half empty depending on yor perspective). Dried it out. log book was wet. How dooes water get in a sealed zip lock bag. Emptied all water filled bags. Took handyman tool & left Simpsons collectable & bottle of glitter. resealed cached and replaced upside down with some room for water to move underneath. if water does get in it shouldn't stay there.
Found after about 25 minutes of searching, there has been a lot of fallen timber in the area and finally found the cache on the other side of a tree at about 7:45pm. The cache was totally exposed and looked as though it had been moved by animals. Lots of wombat evidence around. Small amount of water in cache and the camera was quite wet. Dried out as best I could and took camera home to dry out and left a handyman tape measure kit. Quick look at the meeting of the waters as darkness was falling.

found at 1800, most enjoyable walk in, plenty of bird life and rabbits about. was intriqued by what apears to be some form of gold sluece nearby. took a while to locate cache. no exchange made. had to go roman road building several times as the water had met the track due to heavy rains in the last few days.
thanks for a most relaxing walk.

Found at 1:00pm. The second of six caches on our caching tour of Warburton Part III. After just completing an arduous walk up to LR11, we weren't sure that we wanted to follow up with another 3km return trip, but we really wanted to see the meeting of the waters and headed off anyway. As it turned out, we needn't have worried as this was a very cool and pleasant (and dare I say relatively level) walk. The cache was in good nick and after the find, we wandered down for a look at the rivers.
Thanks Quasar from D & S B-A. Left a Magnifying Glass, took a Safety Knife.

Visited this cache today, and thoroughly dried out the contents and restocked. It's ready to go again. The track in is very muddy after recent rains, and the two coloured waters are very much in evidence.
Found at 12.25pm after a pleaseant walk along the track. The cache was in pretty bad shape when we found it, with quite a bit of tea coloured water in it and some water even finding itself into the plastic snaplock pockets.
Took: Vivitar viewfinder, Left: Box cutter.

In the area traveling from Pittsburgh, PA, USA. We had a bit of trouble finding the best approach by car to get to this cache. After parking 1.3 km south of the cache by the gate, we had a very pleasant walk to the cache location. We found the cache in good shape fairly quickly. Took: antique scale pencil sharpener and left a Vivitar monocular magnifier. Thanks for showing us this nice secluded spot!
Lesson 1 Use footware with grip - put more effort into staying upright than looking for the cache.
Found after a bit of a search. Rather damp so dryed in the sun for about an hour.
Took a photo (if there is film in cammra) of drying process.
This place brought back memories of a good weekend I had at the former university camp located at UTM E 55H 367493 N 5822944 just up the hill.
Wile searching found a old rotten ABS year book like the one in the cache and a garfield book mark.
Left book mark and took old book to bin it.
Thanks Quasar

Found this afternoon after a long hot walk. Was paranoid about snakes but did not see one so was obviously worrying for nothing. This is quite an interesting little spot, with the two different color water sources meeting. Left a red car and took some earphones.
Many thanks.
Many thanks.
My 5th and final cache for the day. Found the location easier enough. Muzza had already found this one so he left Alan-san and I to hunt the cache out while he watched on. The GPS was doing funny things and I wanted to beat Alan-san in finding this cache. Very competitive . Found the cache after about 10 minutes of looking not realising Alan-san had found it before me.Oh well. I filled the log book out first as I'm the slower walker and dusk was coming on.
Swapped Elmo for a carabiner/compass.
Left the guys and checked out the water. Its quiet unusual with the 2 different colour waters meeting. Started back on my own while Muzza and Alan-san found better cover for the cache. Was a bit exposed. We met up again just before the gate and 10 minutes before night set in.
Thanks Quasar for another great cache.

Found at 5:40pm with Muzza and Kiwideb. Kiwidebs comment says it all. I was somewhat luckier at get a better GPS location than Kiwideb, and spotting the 1/2 exposed container didn't take much effort. Swapped a 5in1 whistle (out) for set of scales pencil sharpener (in).
Thanks Quasar for pointing out the rivers. A definite contrast in the coloured water - two coffees one with milk and the other without.

This cache is operational once again. I have removed all the waterlogged items and thoroughly dried out the cache. It has a new logbook, and some new items as well. Please ensure that the cache lid is securely on at all 4 corners. Also place place any items susceptible to water damage in snap-lock bags. There are a couple of spare bags in the cache. I've also made a minor adjustment to the previous co-ordinates. Enjoy!

I'm endeavouring to get out to the cache with a new logbook etc. But it might be a couple of weeks.
Found by geofreak, wj, and co. without any problems at around 6.30pm on a rather humid evening. Although, or maybe because, the container was tightly sealed, most items were very damp including the log book. We had a garden marker and managed to leave our names, just to prove we had been there. Maybe Quasar can call by and do a little maintenance as it would be a shame to archive a cache in such a good location. Thanks Quasar

Found with Geofreak & W.J. after riding along the rail trail from Millgrove with my 2 children (18 & 21 yrs). Cache contents were all quite wet. Its good to see these interesting places that we so often bypass & never see, thanks Quasar.
Found at around 3:30 on Melbourne Cup Day on a somewhat sunny afternoon. Unfortunately the cache container was open and the lid was askew, even though a small rock was still on top. It may have been disturbed by the local fauna as there are signs all around of their presence.
The cache was literally half full of water, with almost all the contents soaked right through. I drained the container and washed it with some drinking water and dried it with a travel towel that I keep in my bushwalking backpack. The log book was thoroughly soaked and I could not make an entry in it without it ripping. I was, however, able to place my Muzza was here stamp in it.
The 2001 year book had drowned - RIP - there was no pulse. I buried it in a nearby shallow grave (after a short memorial service and eulogy).
I took the Biggles Bear 100th Mission commemorative pack which was safely dry in a sealed plastic bag. In its place I left a Glow Stick, a 5 in 1 Camping/Survival Whistle and a pack of seeds, along with the plastic bag from Biggles Bear's pack.
I replaced the lid, which still seems to form a good seal, and covered it up again. Hopefully, with a few warm days ahead, some of the contents may dry out before the next finder.

Found at 16:15 with no trouble, after trudging through the rain, and not being able to get the GPS out of my pocket for fear of drowning it. Luckily the rain stop just as we approached the general area, and the sun came out as we returned to the car.
This being Team Biggles Bear's 100th Australian cache find, we left the second and last Biggles Bear 100 Mission commemorative packs, containing limited edition T-shirt and collectors card. To make room for the commemorative pack we took the slinky.

Found without any trouble after a pleasant walk on a nice sunny afternoon. Nothing exchanged. Greg and Bev
Found by Maya and Ray at 4:35PM on a cold, wet, miserable day. Fortunately we had our wet weather gear, so the walk along the track was comfortable and enjoyable. We had little trouble locating the cache and as it continued to rain we hastily made our exchange of a packet of balloons, (leftovers from There's a party on the hill) for the stress globe. The cache was clean and dry inside. We did not go any further to explore the area as the weather was against us. Thanks for the challenge. The Nomads.
PS. This is our 150th find.

Another 'found first' for Mary & David, at 1605. Our third for the afternoon, but with fading light, probably the last. Not sure when planning this one which direction to approach from, with lots of gates and 'private access' roads on the Melways. In the end, parked at a ''management vehicles'' gate and walked in about 1.5km. A good 4WD track most of the way to the ''meeting place'', and the walk along the creek was lovely, even if somewhat soggy after recent rains. Incredible colours where the waters met. Lots of wombat holes and mossy logs. Met a departing fisherman on our way in and another walker on our way out. Found the cache after only a short search, and it looked like water had been running down the hill and right over it during the rain, but the contents were quite OK. Took furry bear, left feng shui candles. Thought Coops had seen enough rain in this spot so took him for a ride with us. We'll drop him off somewhere else in a day or two. Future visitors - please ensure the cache lid is sealed all the way round in case of further rain. Thanks to Quasar for showing us yet another part of the Yarra, and with only small hills too.
