TFTC! And this one gets the price of the weirdest of the month for now. I had the caches in the CBD saved in a list three months ago and today I decided to come and get this one. I already had an idea of what I would be looking for and on the spot it took me around 15 minutes to get it right. Went to retrieve it (avoiding the wasp nest that is close by) and signed the log. When I came back home to log it I found out it was archived, so here is my posthumous log, to a fun cache that had me dancing, a nice mystery! Thanks BertieLissie for hiding and maintaining, sorry to read that you're gone!

I was out with my family enjoying a day tripping about on some ferries. My Poppy helped me find this one as he knew where it was. Thanks for the cache BertieLissie.

Always wondered what all this rubble was about. Have often have passed seeing people sitting amongst the mystery so today I too sat and pondered. Plenty of thinking, wondering and then a light bulb moment as I looked afar. Was this a sign from above or just a lucky guess....well it was the latter. Did a little dance and signed the log. TFTC!
So many questions, so many mysteries....
Who is Bertie?
How did these ruins get here?
Where are there two muggles in camping chairs in the bushes?
What are the waypoints I'm meant to find?
How have others found this so seemingly easily?
What's for lunch?
I took an extended lunch break to walk to this from the office today to see if I could figure it out. Some head scratching and remembering the CO's other cache I've solved already (The whole world's a stage) it gave me an idea or two.... sure enough I had my hands on the cache!
WOOHOO.

This one had been on my radar for a long time and with a bit of free time today, I went there to investigate.
Arriving at the waypoint, I found the sign mentioned in the description and proceeded from there.

In Sydney for this weekend's X-Games and doing some of the usual sights today in a 13km circle from Chinatown.
This one had me searching at the other end of the arrow last year but today I was able to make the find.
Always good to change a DNF to a found. Thanks for an interesting puzzle.

Had been at the location before and found a cache only meters away from this one! Love the idea and it worked out well for me. For the idea a favourite from me!

With this solved, I headed to The City to meet some friends and detoured to GZ. Here I tried to work with the hint and a moving GPS. Finally I narrowed it down to one location which matched the hint and it was CIH. Strange objects indeed! TFTC

Out for a days of Caching with Calypso62.
It was a lovely day for Caching.
It took some thinking, but in the end we worked it out.

I was visiting Sydney for a few days with work and making the most of the opportunity to go walking, sightseeing and caching. With a spare hour before dinner with colleagues I headed to this cache as it had me very intrigued. After walking around the different objects and pondering why they were here, I started to look for the cache. It was only as I realised time was running out and I needed to get back to the hotel that I had the flash of inspiration and I found the cache. Cue small happy dance! TFTC
We thought about this beforehand and had an idea. We tried this, but were initially unsuccessful. Then tried again and there it was. Great. TFTC
I ended with the children when my architect wife wanted to explore the opera house alone. Still some geocaching was managable
A wonderful day in a wonderful area. Fun unknown to ponder and find onsite.

Family and I are down from Brisbane visiting Sydney for the weekend. Headed out to find a few geocaches this morning.
Doing some research before my visit I identified a likely spot for the hide but upon arriving at GZ my alleged helpers decided it was in another location. Spent a lot of time looking there with no luck and they eventually lost interest and headed off. I headed back for another look and decided to check my first likely location, and surprise surprise found it in the first place I looked. TFTC

#8156 - 08:30; I was in Sydney with the geohoney for the weekend and after a great night at the theatre to watch Priscilla and another wandering around Circular Quay for Vivid, it was time to get ready to head for home. While the geohoney got ready, I wandered across the road from our hotel to give this cache a try. I'd been here before caching and after a wander around the artifacts, had a burst of inspiration and enlightenment, before making my way to GZ where I located the cache. TFTC BertieLissie

Cache blindness was really getting the best/worst of me! At gz, we looked all over the structure. The TAF confirmed it was there. Before heading back, I gave it one more try and then CIH

Was in the CBD on my early morning cycle to grab a nearby newbie which turned out to be a DNF grrr. So instead decided to grab the last few unfound CBD cache. This one was quickly found thanks to a clue in the hint and searching around the likely place I’d hide a cache . TFTMC #608
What an awesome cache! A Sydney mystery I've always wanted to find out. Did this one with the Cache Crew and took a lot of patience to find. TFTC

Really liked this hide as I lined up a few things yesterday without luck. Returned this evening to have a look in a different location and yes, CIH. I’ve heard many stories regarding this site, thanks for the placement BertieLissie
Excellent cache! Perfect for geocolleague and I on coffee break.

I couldn't figure it out. I thought I was onto something but it didn't reveal the cache. Will have to try again another time.
I've been wanting to do this cache for quite some time but thought it might be beyond me. I know the hint didn't change, but I hadn't noticed the extra waypoint there before. This made it a lot easier. Or so I thought. I couldn't find anything to start with. A change in levels - still no find. Let's check this again. Just as my geo-buddy made a call to a friend, I made an important discovery. "Here it is!"
"How could that be", cried oldmorty, "we looked there before". "It was hiding". But now it's found. A favourite point from me. TFTC BertieLissie

Out with frazeydaze for a spot of Sunday caching. This cache has been on the to do list for sometime after making a lazy attempt several months ago. It was beginning to look like another unsolved mystery until I PAF for a hint and then it was soon CIH. TFTC Bertie Lissie.
In the big smoke this arvo so took the op to collect a few and hunt for a few. This odd little puzzle on my to do list for a little while. I had the right idea but it took a few goes to get it correct amongst the assorted debris. Reminded me of a smaller scale version of the scene at the end of Planet of the Apes (the original) In the end an out of the box approach put me in the correct location to find the secrets of this odd hench. Thanks for the mystery.
After the excellent Australia day Meet , the subject of this cache came up and Loci612 and I decided to join forces, with a little hint from a local cacher. We found the waypoints , debated the direction, then with the help of the hint , looked in the likely place. Funnily enough, I found a moveable cache (do they still do these?) here on my last visit. Thanks for your company Loci (enjoy caching in London), and thanks for the puzzle- I would have done a dance, but didn't want to embarrass the lad TFTC!
I had already found most of the caches around Circular Quay as well as the Earthcaches at the Opera House but this was one cache I have been yet to find as the listing has always scared me every time I visit!
Today though after the Australia Day event nearby I got a tip from a local cacher, and myself and happileigh from the UK decided we would get together and go find it!
After visiting the two waypoints and trying to work out how it all works I suggested one spot and we walked over and soon enough there was the cache! Awesome
Thanks for the puzzle BertieLissie!

After way too much time in the Sunday afternoon sun geodad finally had this one in hand. Had to resort to "where would I hide it?" as nothing else appeared to align. TFTC.
Unfortunately no find for us today.. couldn't get our head around the puzzle and didn't have enough time to check every available geo-spot.. that being said, we did find a 'clue' for part of some scavenger hunt which was amusing- didn't open it, so I hope that wasn't the cache!
I was a little bit confused here but geoboy worked it in no time... I'm still not 100% sure how, but he had the CIH very quickly great location, thanks!
The mystery is no more. Head scratched and the proverbial Eureka moment. Bit of a search and we had it. Thank you so much.
We struggled to understand this one to start with. When we got to the posted coords it took us a while to find the required signs, and when we did we overthought the puzzle. We tried the PAF option, which whiles was helpful, did not result in us finding the cache. on theis occasion we were also under time pressure and decided to leave it for another time. Today we tried again. this time around we had a better idea of wht we were supposed to do, and looked again in a couple of spots we had looked previously. we struck it lucky in the second spot we looked. We did not sing and dance, but the satisfaction of finding this cache cannot be underestimated.
To the cache locale - what a beautiful hidden part of Sydney. Thanks Berti Lissie.

Euerka! I had worked out the WP on the weekend and had a pretty good idea where the mystery would resolve itself. Came by today at lunch and was soon rewarded with that sweet sense of jubilation. I could feel Bertie's presence! After restoring the mystery to its former plane I opted not to reenact Bertie's antics in case the nice men with the white jackets were still around. Thanks Bertie for the revelation!
Taking advantage of cheap Sunday fares, a souvenir on offer and heaps of new earthcaches to choose from, Bonfire7 joined me for a day out in Sydney so I could also tick a few nemesis hides off my radius. As we cut across the Botanical Gardens to one, we were drawn to stopping at this mysterious place where, after a few red-herring signs caught our eye, we soon had the cache in hand and the final part of the clue made sense for our happy dance. I’d probably call this a micro not a small though which is what had us mislead for a while in the first place.
When we first came to Sydney a bit more than a year ago, this was one of the first caches I had a look for. At that stage it completely stumped me, but I think that had a lot to do with how I approached the problem, using only the listed waypoint. Since then I have been using some better software to get the cache listings into my GPSr, and with that more information, including additional waypoints.
At a later date I had another look. This time I had a better idea of what I needed to do, but I was facing the wrong way and looking in the wrong spot. Hardly surprising that I didn't come up with anything. Grrrr, it had to go on the back-burner for some other time.
Today we came out of the Botanic Garden further up Macquarie Street, and on a whim I decided to come down the street on our way to Circular Quay. Initially, I was going to head west instead. Just before crossing the street at the pedestrian crossing I noticed that this cache was so close, it would have been a travesty to leave it. Therefore, up the slope we went.
With my good wife by my side, I explained what I was trying to do. She had a look around and said, "there, perhaps that's where you should look." I kind of agreed, but decided to check some alignment again. In the meantime she went off and had a look. However, it didn't look like she had any success.
I decided to have a better look in the same place she had chosen. Perhaps a bit of a feel would be in order, too. You know you have found it when you grab the container and it moves. Yes, finally I can turn this one into a smiley!

On a visit to the city today with mizmaz for earthcache weekend, our plan was to cache around the harbour foreshore and check out the all the sites.
We stopped in here for our first find of the day, once at GZ it came down to two choices, the first didnt work for us but the second did,woo-hoo,what a great way to start the day.
Thanks BertieLissie for the cache

Previously logged under team account BoogieRogue. Re-logging with my individual account. Had an interview in the CBD in the morning and thought I collect a couple caches afterwards. This mystery was the first in the list. Working out the final location needed some creative thinking, but got there soon enough. TFTC

Arrived in Sydney on Monday from Melbourne and walked by this place the following day whilst walking the harbour with my muggle friend. As we walked by, I mentioned to her that there was a puzzle related to this site and then forgot about it until I was literally on top of this site. I quickly deduced a probable solution, went to where I thought the container might be and guessed wrong. Then putting my thinking cap on and had a probable next hiding place and was rewarded with a find.
Thanks for bringing me here...it was fun.

I do enjoy a puzzle cache, but I have all the imagination of a lobotomised gnat, so I was glad that misspalot and raindoctor were on hand to give me a hint for this. Such a great use of this unusual sight/site.
Second trial made the found. Today my muggle friend finally finished her final and called me out. With the clue from my geofriend got the cache quickly. Signed myself name and marked a PASS as my muggle friend really wish she can pass all her exams! thanks for the cache so much fun
Visiting Sydney for my mums 70th and enjoyed the description for this one. Sadly like Bertie I was scratching my head after coming away empty handed from some likely spots. Maybe I wasn't aligned properly.
Thanks for the laugh anyway.

Hard not to have a crack at this one as we walked straight past it on our way to Vivid in the Botanical Gardens. Great spot in the dark, no muggles. The hint proved to be very useful as did the 2nd wpt. Arriving at GZ I had a moment of dejavu. Interesting concept. Thanks for the puzzle.

Being blue switch day, I wanted the souvenir.. so I decide to do this one on the way home.. ok maybe not a good one in the dark.. but at least it was muggle free.. it was long till I worked it out and found myself in a familiar place..

After getting our token multi for the day it was time to get a token mystery cache also. Hurray! Team work prevailed here with myself finding GZ and misspalot braving the wasps to spot the cache. We then contrived an implement to avoid the redback spider. And did I mention the evil golden arches? Why doesn't anyone else mention all these dangers at GZ?!?! I guess I'm just soft...
After catching the ferry from Luna Park back, we decided to call this the last cache of the day. Despite being very confused by raindoctor's explanation - I was pretty tired by then - the puzzle was solved! Although there was a muggle near the hiding spot, he was more interested in his reading material than two youngsters poking nearby. Eventually the cache was spotted and tool were sought for retrieval. Beware of wasps and a fat red back at the spot. EEP!
Thanks for the mystery BertieLissie

Hmmm I looked and I pondered. Then got another perspective. Soon the cache was in hand. Visiting from Canada. TFTC
after a few minutes of thinking it all clicked and I found the cache in good condition tucked away. Unfortunately I did not have apen but I have taken a photo of the cache container and logbook if CO wants it, they can contact me, Thanks for this cache BertieLissie
Tried to find this one a few times no luck today tried again today sat down to think then the penny dropped soon had in hand TFTC
Today will be our 3rd attempt at this one.
Went back to basics and did just what the hint said. Really thought my idea would be wrong but when I walk to Gz and looked there it was.

Out with dlturner hoping to solve this one after several attempts. The hint says it all. Don't think about it to deep and it will put you on the straight and narrow
I read the story carefully and did what Bernie did. I had a good idea, went to explore, and came up with the cache in a few minutes. The true "eureka moment" of understanding came after I made the find. It was all clear. Great fun. Tftc
I ventured up onto the Cahill Expressway walkway this morning (prior to catching up with some former work colleagues for some Christmas cheer) to get a shot of what is the biggest ship ever to grace our shores.
This put me just a short walk from Sydhenge so I headed there afterwards to see if I could figure out what this pile of rocks was all about ... but I couldn't make heads or tails of anything there ... or even find what I was supposed to find at the waypoints!! Not to be put off, however, by my inability to unravel the mysteries of Sydnhenge, I took an alternate approach to the problem ... and looked for possible hide locations nearby. Either my geo-senses were right on tune today or I was just plain lucky, but I then located the hide in the second place I checked ... yay!
Thanks for this puzzling mystery BerieLissie, but most of all for the smiley it gave me ...

I got an opportunity to travel to Australia for a business trip. I have made this trip twice before once to Sydney almost 20 years ago for my honeymoon and another business trip to Melbourne almost 15 years ago – so, I was excited to visit the Land Down Under and revisit life in the Southern Hemisphere.
I did a little pre-planning and grabbed Lane Cove on the day of my arrival to make sure that I got that one marked off as soon as possible. The next couple days were consumed with work (that is why the company paid for me to fly here after all). On Saturday morning at 3am I had to wake up and participate on a call back in the states. The call ended up finishing about 4:45 am and while I thought I was going to go back to sleep a colleague had told me – if you are not tired you should probably go ahead and stay up and go check out the sunrise down at the Circle Quay. So, feeling pretty vitalized I decided to take advantage of the opportunity and strolled down to the Quay. I did a little sightseeing, caching and then met my colleague for breakfast. He asked what I had been doing and what I planned to do the rest of the day and I explained to him about geocaching he was intrigued and asked if he could tag along. Always happy to have someone that is interested in the game come along so I said sure. We spent the next 3 hours caching in the Gardens and catching up on life and work. My colleague grew up in Denmark and lives in Shanghai so he was completely digging being outdoors and enjoying a beautiful day in Australia. Around lunch time we headed back to the Quay for lunch with a couple other colleagues. What a beautiful way to spend an afternoon. After lunch a third colleague decided to join us and we took the Ferry to Manly Bay for some more exploration (managed to get in one more cache) and then back to the Quay. I was ready to keep going but, the other two were done and we decided to call it a day. I walked back to the hotel, grabbed some dinner then turned on the TV. I think I fell asleep about 15 minutes after the TV came on. I checked my Watch and I had walked over 15 miles over 15 hours. What a great day.
On Sunday I slept in until 6 then headed out to grab a few more caches before heading to the airport. I got to explore some other parts of Sidney and see the annual Santa Clause run (Have you ever seen 2000+ people dressed up like Santa Clause in one spot?), went up the top of the tower and grabbed a few more caches – today’s partial day of caching only involved 7.8 miles of walking (all on the foot I broke 6 weeks ago in London on another caching trip!) ; )
What an awesome trip! I think I ended up with 4 different cache types, the oldest cache in Australia, 20+ different caches, put thousands of miles on some TBs including one that is in a contest and saw some great things. I Love Caching!
This was one of the first I took my Danish friend to - we couldn't find it at first and gave up. Then had 40 minutes to kill before our lunch meeting - he was determined to find it. Eventually we made the grab after a lot of brute force searching. TFTC

With a planned day in Manly and the city with JJCC, we relaxed in the park before setting out to solve this different sort of mystery. We soon had a viable location to start the search and on arriving noticed several wasp nests with some nasty looking wasps. Taking care we soon spotted what was needed. With the cache in hand we both signed the log and replaced as found. Cache container and log are in good condition. An added bonus was the GA virtual cache near the location of the posted coordinates.

This had me scratching my head and eventually it clicked. Such a facinating site too
I wasn't really sure what I was doing here but found the waypoints and tried some basic geometry. With no success I scanned a few possible places then while passing checked out a very old cache site nearby and was really surprised to find this cache was now there instead. Of course I can now see how the clues fitted in and should earlier have further extended my search, however a find is a find so thanks for that.
For some reason I tend to struggle with your caches and today was no exception. Eventually found with PDU and SMS on a fantastic day of caching.

**Teamed up with Pipes Down Under & Delloro to hit the city today, and that we did. This one was a nice quick grab, After we figured out the the arrow had nothing to do with the puzzle. Haha**

TFTC,
In the area today working on a very big Multi with another 2 teams. We are picking up some other caches along the way.
Previously completed a cache here based on the same idea. Even found the cache in the same location.
I cant tell you much about the objects.
Visited a group of trackables.

Find #: 1,404
Companions: None
Muggles: None
Weather: Pleasant spring day
Cache condition: Good
I visited this cache during the school holidays, aiming a pre-work jog at this spot, but I was unable to find the container, as I was interrupted in my search by a gardener from the Botanical Gardens. Today I found myself nearby while registering for a conference so decided to have another go. While I was walking up to the area I read old logs, and had a "hmmm, I wonder?" moment, and when I got to the area looked in a likely spot, to find the container! I signed the log, replaced the container, enjoyed the view, then returned to my day. Thanks for the cache.

Very sneaky indeed. Probably my 4th attempt at this, but I swore I wouldn't give up this time. Tried all possibilities of the hint, but they didn't work, and then brute force worked for me and I only realised it worked with the hint afterwards. Thanks for a very confusing cache!

This was the last cache of the day for bikerbuddy & me. We had started at Central Station, and walked to here, collecting caches and steps along the way.
We have contemplated this cache in the past, but have never taken the time to stop and see what we needed to do. Today we were determined to finally stop and see what we could do. We found a convenient stone block to sit on while we read the notes. We thought about it briefly, had an idea, acted upon that idea and were rewarded with a cache.
Cool idea for a cool location. Thanks

We've often walked among these stones but never have we attempted this cache before. We were certainly aware of the cache. However, we've always passed the stones on our way to do something else - even find other caches - with a sense that we'd take a look at this one another day when we have time to think about it.
Today was that day. We came to the city with only four caches planned, this being the last. We read over the cache notes and decided we might have more of an idea once we got to the location. When we got there we located the place of the given coordinates and recognised it from the cache notes. After that, it all seemed logical and easy. Once we'd done the second thing we needed to do, I decided on a place and found the cache immediately. What looked like it might be hard and complicated turned out to be extremely easy. Thanks

I must say without the hint I would probably still be trying to figure this one out. No pen on me today so will return to sign next week. A favourite point from me for a favourite spot in Sydney. Thank you.
Lovely walk throu the park caching, this one took us a while TFTC from Switzerland
On our third day in Sydney we are exploring the parks and again following the cache ways. Sydgenge is an interesting place. Many people passing by asked me what this is. Just follow the hint and you will find outside the circle. TFTC
