Needing a cache to continue our streak, and preferably not too far a walk as we are pressed for time and the weather looks like its going to throw its toys at any moment, this looked like the perfect candidate. Quick find. Thanks tmann421 #1215
Out for a couple of quick 'Park n Grabs' today. Nice easy find, TFTC. I'll be back to get the rest in this track at a later date.
Good hide, found it but a bit hard to find otherwise really good hide hope lots more people find it!!
Back to the road.Enjoyed the work-out but slightly disappointed with the lack of promised "great views" (nothing to do with the CO or his caches). Just the walk back to the car to go TFTC (left a few for a future visit)
Found in mid week explore of the northern end of the track. The tube has come off its lead. I attached it further along - hopefully sufficient for the time being. Log in good order. TFTC
The bison tube is no longer attached to the lead. Have pushed it into the loops. Is quite firm but may need attention soon. Livingk.
It's December, and to help me achieve one of my Geocaching goals I need to log 300+ caches this month, which means an average of ten a day. I started off well, but had a glitch in the middle which has left me behind my target. Today I was aiming for 30 finds (I got 28) by walking up here. The ascension to the ridgeline up the Te Au Track from Huia Street is about as steep as they come, so it was slow going. Finding a cache every few hundred metres provided a nice break in the slog. All the caches up this track were found exactly as expected, all safe and well.---Thanks to tmann421 for placing and maintaining this cache. I enjoy each and every cache I find, and it is only with Geocachers like this creating them and placing them out in the world that this wonderful game continues.[DGSc-Bulk] tagging to help me generate a list for GC30AD8 - DGSc Challenge
**#19,129**Found the last lot back in 2012 so it was time to find a few more, didn't have the time to go all the way up so only a few it was this time.
#60 saw this track so decided to do a few up here.Found on a day trip down to the west coast. TFTC
Nice day for geocaching, looks like this road will have a few more lifestyle blocks in the next few years, found the cache, signed the log and off again, tftc tmann421
Took me two goes - eyes must not be working today ad I didn't notice the very obvious hint object. Good cache tho
Needed a cache for today and this one drew the short straw! Pulled up in the Geo-Waka right beside GZ for a nice easy find.
Container was just sitting in the long grass at the base of the post. Not sure if that is where it was supposed to be or whether the split ring that is usually on those containers has rusted away. Either way I replaced it where I found it.
TNLNSL Thanks tmann421

TNLNSL Thanks tmann421
Took me a while to figure out what the hint was signifying, but once I did I found the cache pretty quickly. One day I'll return to do the walk - not something I was keen to do on my own.
Found a little earlier today
This track would be our first ever cache hike and we wanted to scope the area out a little. We initially planned to do a whole lot but staring up the hill from this cache location was telling us otherwise
We decided to push through a little just to see what we were up against so signed this log and headed on up!

Great way to spend Mother’s Day walking the track. Log sopping wet so photo record instead!
This one was a DNF when I tackled this end of the Te Au track several weeks ago. Now that it's been replaced, it was a quick park'n'grab to turn a blue face yellow. Tftc!
Wohoo! Thanks for the maintenance here Tmann. Was up the coast today and saw you’d done something. Sneaky hide but know the area well after last hunt. Glad to turn my blue face into a smile.
Nice way to end the day’s adventure!
Nice way to end the day’s adventure!
Dash! After an absolutely fabulous adventure I end up with a sad face here. Didn’t hang around too long but after a big walk (and still a bit to the car) I’m afraid I’m just not seeing anything here
A nice quick find here thanks to your hint. So the log book has been signed and the cache is nicely back in its spot all ready for the next geo-hunter. Thanks heaps for taking the time to set up this geocache. I really appreciate your efforts in doing so. TFTC
Labour Day - the perfect time to do a power trail. My first in a very long time. I've already done the Parata Track from Tui Cres to the lookout (and the Memorial Seat), so today I was completing the loop by doing the climb from Huia St and the full ridge. It was a total of 20 caches - and by some miracle I managed to find every single one of them! It was a 10km walk with a total of 1000m of climbing, but it was a straight forward walk. Many of the caches were instant finds thanks to the very detailed hints.
(1/20) This was an instant find. A little bit of a tight squeeze to retrieve though! TFTC

Now back to the car via the roads. Always interesting to see the back streets of an area! TFTC
Decided to spent some time around Otaki and Waikanae picking up some caches. Finished the drive by ones and now time to stretch the legs on this loop walk. A good climb up and great views at the top. Managed 22 in total. Will need to return for the ones along the far ridge top.
Enjoyed the level of hides. Often took a few minutes but the hint was always specific enough to give me hope and continue looking.
No problems finding this one. The sun is off to bed and time for me to head home.
Thanks tmann for the challenge and the smileys.

Thanks CO for the cache series, had me looking for this one until I saw the obvious, enjoyed the walk.
Spotted while under the watchful eyes of 4 cows! Tftc (still getting breath back from the steep climb to the other cache lol)
Back down here visiting family and these have tempted me for too long. I thought I should duck up the hill and grab a few on the way. We'll see how far I get today.
This was a nice easy start. I hope the rest are too.

We spotted the likely hiding place according to the hint, but had no luck finding the cache
I want to get some of this caches for my nz-matrix. So we started here. This was a quick found.
I came up the coast today to boost my numbers for September.
While I was on the other side of the tracks, I decided to head on up this way to grab a couple of "park and grabs". Pulled over and clambered up the bank and over the steps. Found the cache pretty quickly. Signed and replaced. All good here. Some time I may head on up further. TFTC

Went to look for the first few caches from this entrance...
This one took me far longer than expected as initially my phone took me 15m away to one side of the track.
Eventually I read the hint and found this elusive little one!
TNLNSL Thanks for placing this cache tmann421

Found with Hereisme. We had to have a bit of a search for this but found it. Hereisme signed the log for us. TFTC
Zayn2016 and I were a bit slower on finding this one but eventually had success. Signed and returned. TFTC
Find #3092. Having completed a return hike of Brights Ridge in Paraparaumu, I had time to come to Hemi Matenga, complete the ridge loop and find the last few caches placed since I last did this.
Nice simple find and last one for the day. A quick trek back to the car and home. SL TFTC

First of 13 caches located today on a walk with the geohound up the Hemi Matenga Reserve track. Yes, quite steep a lot of the way – a good workout overall! Took a brief moment to find this one, after starting the search a few metres away initially. #2319. TFTC.
Today I planned to do a part of the Hemi Matenga walk. I did not know what to expect but the quick find of this first cache made me hopeful.
Managed to combine two activities: researching the Hemi Matenga Walkway , and picking up a cache. Nicely placed cache, just where description said. Thanks.
Came out to get the first couple of caches along this track.
Will get up th hill soon
Will get up th hill soon
thought I might not be able to get this one today as there were some chorus/electra workers right at the bottom walking back and forth, luckily they got in their vehicle and drove off just as I arrived to GZ, quickly located and signed
Quick and easy find. Found with TwigNZ. Signed the log as "T & T" Thanks for the cache
I had been eyeing a few trails to do on the weekends I have my son and decided to go hard out today to see how many caches we could do in and around the Hemi Matenga Reserven an afternoon. We were lucky enough to be blessed with reasonable weather, when the forecast had been for showers, so that definitely helped us to get a great result.
I apologise in advance for the generic log, but there was no way I would have been able to write up each Cache as I went along, so am logging them now in bulk (sort of)
This was the start of the trail, and at this point little did we know how much climbing we were in for today!
Quick and easy find. Signed the log as "T & T" for myself and my son (Thatweirdguy04).

I am heading home after three weeks with the relatives, a pretty awesome christmas break. I have a whole day to get to the ferry from Palmerston North, so thought I would stop off and grab a Waikanae letterbox cache, and ended up walking the whole Hemi Matenga.
End of the track! Doing it backwards, this time. Last time I walked this I started from here. Every cache found, despite my GPS misbehaving. I had rebooted it earlier, but now it is again 25 metres out. But the map suggested it should be right at the start opf the track, the cache description suggested it should be right at the start of the track, the GPS itself said it should be 25 metres down the road. Two to one - GPS looses. I looked at the start of the track. and found it. At the start of the track. Not, for instance, 25 metres down the road!

First find on a trip up the track to the top and then along the trapping line. A bit smaller than expected so missed it the first time but the hint suggested only one area so another quick search quickly unearthed it.
A quick grab of a few caches after completeing the Akatarawa traverse.
TFTC.

Team Member Katrin found the cache with her aupair-family during her worktime placement at the local school.

Once at GZ fortunately a quick find. Still safely in place. Greetings from the UK. TFTC #7205
Ah, back down to the road again after an enjoyable trip up in the bush, along the ridge and back down. Took a minute or so before I spotted this mainly because I was still on the wrong side of the fence. Initially the cache refuse to stay hidden as I re-assembled it but eventually managed to get it back as I found it. Took the opportunity to sit on the grass for a bit, take on some water and figure out how to get back to the car over in Tui Crescent. TFTC.
Quick find after over thinking it. FP for the whole series. 19 caches today... so far

#3397. The family needed the car this morning and by the time I had it available at 1.30pm, a trip to Waikanae was starting to look a bit uncertain. However the weather was fine and sunny for once and so I headed up north arriving by the Hemi Matenga Reserve at 2.50pm. By the time I got back to the car at 8.30 pm I had managed to locate all 17 caches searched for today, walked 15,000 steps and done some serious hill climbing. Certainly a lovely bit of forest up here with its mature tawa and kohekohe and few big rimu and matai. The cache find here was reasonably quick but did need the hint to narrow down the search area. Signed the log and replaced as found. Then it was off and upward.
This was the first stop during an expedition into the reserve to collect some of the more recently published caches. A quick find and all in good order.
Now to tackle the huge hill sloping away into the distance. Thanks for the cache.

#187. Overthought the hiding place of this one, but got it in the end, to preserve my current streak. Must come back when it is drier and do some more caches in this reserve. Tftc tmann421!
I spent longer here than I should have. I took a while to find the hint object and even then the actual cache container eluded me for a few seconds. I was very pleased to end the day with sixteen finds on a very enjoyable hike.
1.oopm. Looks bit wet underfoot to go up the hill today so just the cache at the stile this time.
Thank you. David.
Thank you. David.
Out and about bright and early for a caching trip to Waikanae area today. Having been part way up Paekakariki Hill Road and into Queen Elizabeth Park, now making my way into Raumati and Kapait before heading to Waikanae for lunch. Now time to start heading back in the direction of home, but still time for a couple of caches on the other side of the highway.
After the disappointment of no trackable in my last find, I made my way down to this cache. Muggle over the road was mowing his lawn, but I haven't let that stop me before. Gingerly parked on the side of the road and quickly found the well hidden cache. TFTC

Found on tramping club Sunday trip with 9 others to help us. We made it a "round trip" starting at the Huia Street entrance, walking through the leafy streets to Tui Street, through the Kohekohe Walk, over the Te Au Route, continuing north as far as the "Homer Tree" before returning and dropping down to the cars. An easy walk on a good track, the weather was perfect and the views were stupendous. A question, why is this cache so named when it is the Huia Street access? TFTC
Bit of moisture inside the cache, good thing its a waterproof log I'll need to get some of this for when I start hiding!
