Out and about this evening with Jus3. By now the sun had set and we made our way to GZ by torchlight. Had a bit of a search for a few minutes, but it was only getting darker so decided not to pursue it too rigorously. No doubt I'll be back at some stage to try again.

28-Mar-23
Had a decent search.

04-Jun-22
We spent a while here in the wet undergrowth but alas the cache eluded us today. Thanks for thte cache we got us exploring an area we have never been to before.

31-Aug-21
This is my third visit here. GThe first was a very long time ago, I stomped around for ages, didn't see anything worthwhile. Well obviously, otherwise there wouldn't heve been a need to come back!
Last Sunday - two days ago, I was was getting antsy due to lack of exercise so hopped on the bike for a short trip - it's less than 2km to here, which seems to be within the permitted exercise range. Normally that would be far too short a trip, but man - that hill! And again, I stomped around for ages. There seems to be two areas of interest, but when I was in one my gps said it was in the other, which is also what it said when I swapped places. I even looked at places way up the bank, before I realised that Tmann could not have gone that far as he had found it in 10 seconds flat.
After about 1/2 an hour I found it. In fact as soon as I saw it I knew it was the cache. There are only three hide styles that would work here, and this was the only instance of one of them.
So I am glad I wasn't here for half an hour because I had seen the cache and ignored it - no, I had simply not seen it during all that searching - not looked at that particular spot.
But... Sunday was not a day to go for this style cache (size "other"). So I walked away. That was just a prefind and a bit of exercise.Today, however, is the right day. So I cycled up here again. Very fast find this time, of course. Signed the log... hey! A lonely cache!

13-Jul-20
Another finder had noticed I'd had trouble locating this cache and gave me a bit of a hint. I am not sure that I actually needed it as my GPSr took me straight to where I needed to be. This cache is very well done and I don't feel at all foolish about not spotting it previously. It wasn't what I was expecting yet it didn't really come as that great a surprise. I am pleased to change the face from blue to yellow.

03-Jun-20
First time trying for this on after grabbing the nearby reservoir. Used the previous logs but unable to find the cache, maybe next time.

22-Apr-20
Walked over from Maungaraki. You can go a long way connecting the tracks. It was good to have GSEL's log as a guide. I would not have expected the camo and off track. The cache is in good condition although the camo is well weathered.

#7924. I was out and about today looking to avenge a couple of past DNF's. This sad blue face has jeered at me for nearly 4 years now. My last visit in the dark in 2016 proved fruitless so I was a bit concerned about this one. Today I wandered down the slippery track to GZ. Passed two muggles who gave me a wide berth in this post coronavirus, keep your distance, world we live in. At GZ I looked around at possible options and saw a place that needed closer inspection. Headed up there and basically looked around for anything out of place. After about 5 minutes I spied something that got my excitement levels up and headed over and sure enough it was the cache. Very nicely crafted and hidden in a straightforward location but so easy to overlook. Signed the logbook and replaced the cache as found. Helpful hint. You do need to leave the path to reach this one. Thanks I-Can-See-You-!

12-Dec-19
This was my third attempt to find this cache but the first time in good weather and light. So, I was able to stay a bit longer and conduct a proper search.

It seems my years of caching experience were of no help to me here as I was unable to sight anything of interest. I have since checked earlier logs and haven't discovered anything particularly helpful. It is obviously a very clever hide so I am not about to give up. I will be back for another go.

Quick find on my little walk with Squirrel this morning. Great hide. TFTC. Sherlock Hood and Squirrel.

Thanks for the quick find. Mr Penik spotted it straight away..

03-Jun-18
Great hiding place!

08-Apr-18
Despite a recommendation from a neighbour muggle that we not attempt the track as it could be slippery, we headed off anyway and did not come to any harm. The cache was uncovered after a short search. Swapped TBs. TFTC

12-Jan-18
Sadly did not find today despite persistent scrambling up and down banks. Adventuring with oreoboys! TFTC

12-Jan-18
We tried, but did not succeed. We did take out some rubbish however!

06-Jan-18
I'm doing a bit a bit of DNF retry day and this is first up. Despite having no idea what I was looking for, something caught my eye within about 10 seconds of arrival. I don't know if it's not blending in as well as it was before or whether my cache sense just working better today. Nice hide. TFTC.

Thanks for the cache and many greetings from Germany!

Took some time to find. Great hiding spot BTW!

20-Jul-17
A great view of the harbour as I hopped out of the geo-wagon and started off down the track. It was then a fairly cautious descent down the rather greasy track, then a good 10 minutes or more looking about before I spotted the hide, very well done and all in good condition.

02-Jul-17
Spent about 10 minutes in the fading light looking for what I understood to be a clever hide. Will return in better light.

19-Nov-16
This one had troubled us for sometime now, and we've finally nailed it! Great hiding spot and def one if our favs Smile

05-Nov-16
Megan found it! I've been here before to look for this one but failed. It is less than 1 km from this spot to my house and I walk this track with my dog reasonably frequently. It's been bugging me for a while!

We were on our way home from tennis this morning and decided to try it again.

It only took her about 5 minutes to locate it. She says this is her favourite cache EVER! Get a favourite point from us.

Thank you

Did not find. It looks like a large dead gorse bush has either fallen or been thrown into the bush above the cache spot, bringing down dirt and covering the hiding place. I was looking for this one with someone who found it on a previous occasion.

A quick spot of geocaching on a Sunday afternoon brought us to this one.
Some careful footwork on a slippery track, with a bit of upland down, soon had us at GZ.
There we discovered an expertly camo'd cache container.
A straightforward find. Cache in order; log signed, then safely re-hidden, just as found.

Great camo, TFTC

06-Jun-16
A nice walk with fantastic views at GZ. I managed to find this surprisingly quickly (after reading several recent DNFs), and was very impressed by the camo. TFTC Smile

Cache # 3,206 - a lovely walk today with Violet Butterfly. GPS bounced all over the place and never got closer than 15 metres accuracy. Fortunately the Fly put their hands on it after only a few minutes of searching. Nice cache, and glad to have found it so quickly. All well there. TNLNSL.

Consecutive caching day # 1,122

Found today with The Wandering Dragons. Approached from the top, and found the pathway a bit slippery in spots. Nice cache. Swapped out a toy soldier and put in a small ball. Thank you!

22-May-16
Walked down this path this morning for some morning exercise with my 84 year old Dad and also to try and find this cache. Only after about 5 minutes did I see the previous DNF's. Undiscouraged we continued to search and I spied what I thought might be a wee Geo-trail and that showed me something that didnt quite look right. For the second time today got that neat "a-ha" moment and the cache was in hand. Love your work on the camo. Gets an FP from me. TFTC

19-May-16
Too tricky for me. Spent about 15 minutes in the dark hunting around for it with a torch. Handled a lot of objects that can hide caches but nothing there. Either its well off the track or its a better camo than I have seen before. Will try again in daylight some stage.

09-Apr-16
Had a hunt with my son, and had hoped to pick up the 1st of the day, but no joy Sad Any chance of a clue?

03-Apr-16
It does indeed get slippery after rain, as my butt can confirm! And on top of that didn't find! Not a good walk with a 3yo in tow, and started from the wrong end of the walkway.

17-Mar-16
Found on a quick walk up Normandale Road and down into Arahiwi Street. A really clever little hiding place. TFTC

A great day to be out geocaching with tmann421.

Paid a brief visit here but didn't really have time to do it justice in the light of the amount of time others appear to have spent on it, so will have to come back for another look. Saw something that would have made a nice cache disguise but seems that wasn't it!

With the amount of moss on the top section of the track I suspect it might get quite slippery after rain or in winter!

27-Feb-16
Finished work this morning and had some time to kill before being able to collect a purchase from a shop so used the time wisely collecting a few caches. This one was the last for the morning and by far the hardest and cleverest.
Had cast about for almost 20 min before noticing something that warrented further investigation. Checked that out and then noticed something slightly out of place. Checking, a very cleverly hidden cache was located. Was almost back at the entrance to the track when a couple of muggles approached, out for their morning walk. Would have had to come up with a whole different explanation if they had caught me at GZ in the office clothes. Wink
Excellent camo and a good hide. TFTC. FP awarded.

#7551. We were heading to the Saturday market in Lower Hutt on a nice sunny morning, so a detour up to Tirohanga to have a look at the view. Certainly plenty of ferns in this area. Did the nice walk from Oceanview Terrace to Arahiwi Grove, and then looped back to the start along the road. The steep downhill section at the start was rather slippery after the rain in recent days, but no problem when descending slowly. The track was all quiet when we visited. Found after a short search. Good hide. The cache was in excellent condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.

Another nice little walkway in the area. Had me scratching my head a bit then eventually I noticed something a bit different and, alas, it was the hide. Nicely constructed and worthy of a smiley point. TFTC

15 February 2016 20:08. As I was nearby, I decided to try for this one as well. I'm glad I wasn't the only person who has struggled with this one! Very nearly became the first person to Dnf this cache. Lovely views indeed from near GZ. TFTC and have a well deserved FP.

13-Feb-16
Called here this afternoon. Not a particularly quick find, it was in the very first place I checked but it was so deeply buried under debris that I missed it. Got it a while later on a subsequent pass after having drawn a blank at likely nearby objects. Nicely done camouflage! Signed log, TFTC

10-Feb-16
Took me a few moments to spot. Did the usual groping around without any joy. As I was standing there taking stock of the situation I noticed something that lead me to what I was looking for. Nice job on the camo. Cheers and TFTC

#1641 2TF @ 1931.

Quick run back from Martinborough via the back of Cannon Point and saw Bruzie returning to his car as I missed by 6 minutes!

Nice cache, creative for your first. Earns a Favourite Point from the Leprechaun Layer.

FTF@1925!

I saw this in my inbox this evening and saw that it was quite close and that no-one had logged a find, yet. So headed out and made my way to the start of the track and headed down. Got to GZ and spent about 15-20 minutes looking around, without much success and the description didn't seem to provide any clues. After a few more minutes of pondering I drew on my previous experiences and had a new approach to take and very quickly found the nicely disguised hide. Opened it up and was rewarded with a blank log sheet! Big Grin

Signed the log and put everything back with the appropriate cover and headed back up the track. I came across a gentleman heading the other way and it wasn't until he passed that I called out if he was geocaching - the answer was affirmative and it was wb1116! Had a little chat and I was able to give him a little pointer - he obviously didn't need to spend as much time as I did hunting for the cache Smile

Congratulations on your first hide, and a well-made hide it is too! TFTC+Fav
