WA Big Trip Winter 2024. Day 145 - Toowoomba Day 1. I had a few aims on this day around town. I was looking to visit as many Lab caches as I could and get a few normal caches as well. I ended up doing quite a loop of the city area and a big walk through town before lunch. Some of the Labs ere quite challenging and the bonus caches proved difficult. I was happy to find a bit of shade to have a late lunch before an excursion to Drayton and then back to the Toowoomba Show grounds where I am staying to do some logs and cook dinner at the van. Another day around Toowoomba tomorrow. As I was walking around town visiting some Lab sites, I took a short detour to this cache. I was in Toowoomba shortly before the floods and was amazed at what I saw on TV. Today everything was nice and calm and I could work my way along till I located this cache. Thanks for the cache MalDawg49123.7 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & September 2021 Cache Harvest A#462**Albida**
Can confirm its there. Am out with Bonny (BonandMal) killing time between dropping her car for a new windscreen and her hospital appointment. Runawayz found it years ago but new find for us today.
The Rizzlers have slayed once more! Look out fellow geocachers of the Toowoomba region this is our town now. We will dominate one geocache at a time
TFTC. Visiting Toowoomba with work and quickly escaped to get a couple of nearby caches. I forgot my scribble stick so I couldn't sign the log. I will try to get back and sign it before I head home. It was bigger than expected, which was great because it was getting dark and made the find easier.
Happening upon a not so private car park.. we quickly made our way to GZ.. searching this way and that.. I came upon the correct location only to be swooped like a Magpie by Miss 13 who told me to wait as she dived into GZ and claimed the find..I never knew how competitive this game was! Next time I will wear tackle gear!_________________________Out about today with Privatears + 2 with the goal of heading to Toowoomba to get some highly loved caches. Seems Miss 13 had exceptional caching abilities today as she almost automatically found so many caches today!#883
14 July 2024 2:36pmCassow11ry and myself had planned on a day out today to celebrate something important...as a last minute we had the addition of two geokids who were meant to be away, but weren't. (For some finds, it was good they weren't as Miss 13 had really sharp eagle eyes today!!) We targeted in and around Toowomba.End of copy paste:We ducked over to here to hopefully make a quick find before we started to consider heading home - everyone all getting a bit tired. As we started looking Cassow11ry had her hand close to where she needed to go when Miss 13 told her to wait, then swooped in for the find.TFTC
Has someone taken it? As I could not find after thorough searching of the area.
Took a look at the obvious spots then circled out but had no luck finding it. Might try again in a bit.
Thanks to a helpful hint from the CO I returned tonight for a successful find. I had searched near the right spot the first time but concentrated on the wrong part! TFTC

couldn't find it don't know if it's gone or not. found something that looked like it was once part of it but not sure
Spending the day in Toowoomba, so taking the opportunity to find some caches. This was the first cache of the day. Quick find once I reached the GZ.I was living in Cairns at the time of the flood. But having loved in and around Toowoomba during the 1970s as a child, Ive always considered Toowoomba my home town and was devastated to see the city in flood. Hopefully we never see the likes of this again in the Garden City.Log wet, but was still able to signTFTC. TNLN. SL. TB Prado Owl visited.Find # 1772.
Easy find with twodocs on a quiet but hot morning. Signed and replaced as found. TFTC
I remember the dramatic scenes here, although we watched events on the tv in England. Good to be back in Toowoomba for a couple of weeks. Log signed and replaced as found. TFTC
Find#5802Nice hiding place What a nice road trip to Sydney and surroundsThanks for the cache
The fact that the person "found a magnet" means they were looking in the wrong place. There has also been a few DNFs from new cachers. It is possible it is still there but will check in next week.

This was my 2nd ever geocache to attempt, and my first DNF, but I didn't log it. Well 55 finds later, this one was spotted pretty easily. It's camouflaged so be ready for that.

Quick find. I remember the day so well. I had never heard of a Super Cell until Toowoomba was hit by one. The devastation and tragic loss of life is still haunting. tftc
I recognise this spot from the news footage at the time. Still blows my mind. Thanks so much for placing
Yes, we remember that flood. A tragedy that so many life's were lost.
We had to search a while, but found the cache and signed the log.

Found by Mary and David at 16:40. We remember watching the news footage of the Tsunami with disbelief and amazement at home in Melbourne. D had to call in to Repco , so D left the GeoPrado there with M resting inside, and made a nice quick find. A FP for the memories. Our thanks to MalDawg.
Found the cache, the recount of Toowoomba history was great.

TFTC! First log of 2023. Was a bit perplexed as to where this one might be hiding so took a seat whilst I waited for muggles to pass... and there it was! Very sneaky. Informative cache... Although it’s looking pretty dry right now!
