A miserable rainy day of hiking today on Te Araroa, and boy was I glad to see this hut to get myself out of the wetness for a bit. While their I did try to hunt down this cache... at first I struggled as I couldn't find anything nearby resembling the hint, but once I stopped rushing and used my geo senses I soon had cache in hand. I tried signing the moist log but found my pen would not do a thing that was at all helpfully, though I did leave an impression resembling a G... I think so anyhow hahaNot many huts left for me on the long pathway, so it was good to bag another one before I Reach bluff. My thanks to the roaming reliever for hiding a cache here, it made my day slightly less miserable. Cheers, good to get a smiley on the map for this section.-- This log is trackable ! ---- Feel free to discover ---- Please mention, in which cache you've seen this code: ---- 3TABQX --

Couldnt locate this one. Judging by the similarities in other nearby caches Id say this one may have gone walkabouts

Took me a little bit to locate this one. But what a cool spot, and nobody at the hut. Decided this would be me for the night ad stayed in the hut. Wish it had some form of heating though. TFTCPlease accept my late log. I am rather(very) behind in my logging. I can provide proof of find if needed.

This must once have been a stile over the fence - that's gone, but the cache is by the stump of a sawed off post. Replaced the broken container with a double pill bottle.

A couple of TA walkers arrived as we had our second lunch. Poor things - they have a horrendous road walk coming up tomorrow.

Looked for the hut asset number, for Sonia's multi (just in case we ever get to to other waypoints sometime). Alas, there is no tag anywhere on the hut...!

Out on my bike today with Hal2929. Had never been in here before so very pleased to make it today. The weather was tempermental, but the rain held off until we were nearly back to the bottom of the lake. Quick change of clothes and back to Invercargill.
This cache took some hunting down. I was in the right place initially but cold winds and hunger drove me off in other directions. Some hot soup and a further look , and the log was signed and replaced where located.
thanks theroamingreliever for placing a cache out here and enticing us to come up here for a day trip to grab the caches. Prefect trip. Scenery is awesome.

Up on a day trip with Kiscardi. Had a look before a brew with no joy. After the cuppa went straight to it. Gps spot on. Thanks.

Back on the TA this time greenstone to bluff just over 300km so my last "big" section to complete..have no time restrictions so perfect opportunity to get a load of caches as I wal passed .
As you would expect the scenery is amazing and the track is pretty good..
Another hot day and the first order of business was a swim before looking for this one..not where I expected it to be but finally narrowed it down to the correct spot ..cache all good tftc

A couple of hunters just packing to leave when I got here. Nice place to hang out a bit waiting for them to go. Cache not quite where I was expecting after started following the GPS. Clearly used to be a structure here but no longer. Cache still safe under a rock

Another hut bagged, it's a shame that some huts can be accessed by 4wd. There were a number of bottle tops scattered around and the hut had a broken window. After dropping my pack down I went in search for the cache, it wasn't where I expected it to be. I wonder what was here. Thanks theroamingreliever

Found this on our TA thru-hike, staying in the nearby hut. Interesting hint; doesn't seem to apply perfectly anymore, but it did lead me to an interesting old foundation a short distance from the hut itself!

One by one my hut bagging telly grows .
This one had been on my radar for far two long .
A group of Duke of ed students asked if I could assess there overnight hike I was only two happy to help the younger generation to see a beautiful part of our back yard.
We are so lucky to have such a vast array of amazing places we can go
This was also the first time I got to put all my Te Aoraroa gear set up to the test and yes I am very happy with my set up .
Every thing work well .
So next time I come through here it will be 2700km down and about 300 to go.
We had a great sunny day for our walk and now lunch is over on to boundary hut for the night .
We arrived at the hur and as I wated for the back country meal
To rehydrate I slipped out and tracked down this one the hint is only a foundation of its former self but tracked the cache down.
Wow 4 years since publishing and only 3rd to find.
accompanying year 11 students on their juke of ed overnight hike and a 16km walk in they where ready for a hot meal.
Hopefully they have not eaten my tea or its rocks in there packs for them .

Thanks for the hide

Spent ages looking- found broken bottles and a rabbit skull, but no cache. Loved the 32km return walk from Mavora Campground. Now I'll have to go back as forgot to pack spare batteries for GPS so didn't even get to hunt for all the others en route.
