Great little cache, love that it's honouring Gympie history and the people who were part of it.
Out today enjoying the country . This was the first one. Good to stop and look at history. Signed the log and returned to where I found it Thanks Sweet n sour/Young Old Fella. All good with this cache
We had the opportunity to spend some time exploring the region and were lucky to have perfect winter weather for it. We visited some wonderful sites, enjoyed some spectacular views and discovered some interesting history along the way. A sad story and a well constructed cache. Thanks youngoldfella
What an unfortunate accident for the poor fellow. Cache found in good order. TFTC
I read the cache name and thought of the actor and then upon reading the information learnt who Donald Sutherland really was. Cache lid was a bit tight so had to deploy the husband to take care of of the minor details. Log signed and then replaced as found.
youngoldfella I found your cache RIP Donald Southerland on 9/4/2024, 12:15PM. This is my find 6525 and find # 9 today. A quick and easy drive by. RIP Donald Sutherland. Thanks for the cache, mate! TNSLLN

Making our way home from QOGM 23 along the coast grabbing some caches along the way TFTC
Taking the motorhome for a drive this morning as it has just had a new battery installed. A quick easy find here and guess we would never have come this way if it wasn't for geocaching. Log signed TNLN TFTC
Well, finally the weather has decided it will allow us a few days of dry camping (not totally dry, there WILL be a few lagers involved! ).
Our target area is Gympie and a few rural spots northwest.
Well that was ... different I suppose.
Quick find.
Made our mark & replaced as found.

Headed to Hervey bay for my annual pilgrimage to see my daughters on their first day of school for the year. Lucky there's a couple of hundred of caches between Hervey Bay and home.
This was cache **4** of **70** All caches were found with ease and in good condition unless otherwise said, and I thank each of the Cache Owners for placing and maintaing these caches. I apologise for the generic logs, it doen't mean the effort has not gone unnoticed.
The log book wasn't the greatest but a good cache nonetheless, RIP Mr Sutherland

After attending the New Year's and Cito events in Kilkivan, we headed North for couple of days for relaxing and caching. Now we are on the way back, searching the one or other cache.
This was such a stop.

While staying in Gympie for a few days with my Geodog Scruffy, we had to get out and find some caches in the area.

What an unfortunate way to end a life - thanks for the bit of history here. TFTC Sweet-Sour
Paid our respect while finding this awesome cache hide! Stayed awhile admiring this man
A little further down from the previous cache and this very good container was found in a special place of remembrance. Thanks Sweet-Sour for placing it here.
Logging old caches originally found with alphag_25. Now have my own account and logging them separately so that I can claim the finds.
Decided on International Geocaching Day to find a few caches near us yet to be discovered. TFTC
Out and about with 1MinnieMoo and wombles today for a fun adventure around the Gympie area.
While 1MM and wombles investigated the memorial, I quickly found the sneaky beasty.
Great camouflage!
Left two TBs.
Thanks for the cache Sweet-Sour

Pulling up here we got out and while Wombles&Co and I were admiring the memorial and taking photos, Nyssa directed her attention to the cache.
Nice camo and a nice memorial for Mr Sutherland (not Kiefer's dad!).
Thanks for the cache Sweet-Sour.

Interesting piece of history, wouldn't you think you'd find stable ground to sleep on.The cache itself has just had a new post next to it and the cache container lid sprayed with cement fine and safe concreted into the ground, amazingly safe cache holder.TFTC.
Bright and early this morning I headed out to visit Donald
He has been here a while [:o[
I bet he never thought he would be getting run over by trains all the time,
as he lay under the bullock cart dying
A great little bit of history here and well worth a visit [^]
PS: You've spelt his name wrong !!

This is to be my last cache up in this region for a while. It is an area that I have grown to love and respect and one that will always be close to my heart.
And with the above, I could not have thought of a better cache to, I'm not going use the word goodbye, though more the phrase, see you soon, to.
I love nothing more then a good cemetery cache, but add the factor of a time once gone and a dash of history, and that's my idea of a heavenly cache. This cache, for me today, was just that. There is something about laying your hand on a item of such age that, I would not say transports you back in time, but offers a sensation of time.
Rest in peace Mr Southerland and thank you to Sweet-Sour for once again bringing me to such a hidden location that if it was not for Geocaching, would have never crossed my path.
Sweet-Sour, there may be a pause in my logs to you for sometime... But don't you worry, I'll be sure to come and visit... OFTEN!!!

you did it again sweet. loved this cache because of the history. we were with gomoo who has lived in the area all her life and she had no idea about this little plot of history. thanks for the cache. sl tnln left a fav point.
I am on my way home from my 7day 3660 Klm caching trip. Left Nanango on Wednesday 18th May and went via Moura Emerald Barcaldine to Muttaburra then home via Emerald Bundaberg, to maintain several of my hides there then down to here as I wanted to do the Tuan forest ones then as I have haulded a ladder the whole way back into Gympie to get Water the Horse then home. Arrived home at 2040 .
On my way home now after a very good day. Had to change my plans and leave some on my list this trip till the end of the month. Used the ladder where I had to. Not going to drag it 3660 Klm and not use it. Now to drive to my last one for the day and this 7 day adventure. Arrived at GZ signed log returned where found and now to head home. I am awarding one of my fav points for this one just for the history. TFTC Sweet-Sour.

Had a day out and had fun finding this cache. Took the opportunity to place 3 new ones as well . We found this one without any problem. Thanks to Sweet-Sour for placing this cache and adding to our enjoyment of the location.
Received a message from the CO that I could claim FTF as the log was blank when I found this so have amended the logbook! My first FTF so thanks again for the cache.
I was lucky enough to win this in a lucky draw at the leap year event. Unfortunately ran out of time and daylight. It will be on our list next we are in the area.
Thanks Sweet-Sour
