On a big hike today through Mulligans Flat/Goorooyarroo picking up a section of caches that we haven't found before. Almost ended up on the wrong side of the fence before realising our mistake! Have lost count of what cache number we are up to today, but thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for us all to enjoy.
Arrived at Canberra Park yesterday afternoon and took it easy, just the ad lab and the multi sausage solving to do. Today we were out on our bikes heading for the CCT trail, not doing it all just see how far we can get by 1200. Also picking up those caches that we pass. A good day had no DNF's which is a bonus when Canberra caching.Total Caches Found 15585TFTC DARKSIDEDAN
Visiting from Adelaide to see family for the festive season, and today its time to tackle more of the CCT and surrounding caches here.Found this cache and signed the log. Many thanks for the placement and the ongoing maintenance!
I'm fairly certain I tried this cache years ago and DNF'ed it without logging. When I saw the site today I thought I might have to skip out in order to get home on time, but fortunately the coords were accurate and I found it pretty much straight away. Very cool location. TFTC!

#2188 It was either going to be a very long search or a quick one here. So many to choose from. Thankfully the coordinates proved accurate and the find was fast. TFTC Champs2Monkeys.
Day 2 with a trip to The Capital with PPE and Crash. Plenty of targets and not enough time but Kayaking, Tree Climb, the Goo yet again, puzzles and more.
We picked up a few trades enoute between various puzzles before making the last of the upwards climb. Plenty of Roos around. We completed the signing duties and re hid. TFTC

The plans for a caching excursion into the nation's capital had been in the pipeline for some time. The main focus was the Capital Paddle series on the Molonglo on Saturday and mopping up some left overs in the Goo with bella at waggy and purplepeopleater.

Big day of caching around Gooyooyarrow (ok not exactly big, well it is 44km). I have a load of L plate puzzle caches to pick up (not P plate because I'm bad at puzzles). Did a decent amount of finds on the northern side. I'll work on the southern side later. The bike wasn't exactly helpful today as I had to lock it up a decent number of times when I was going to caches. I'm pretty sure I did about 10 separate times. Thank goodness for the bike lock! Thanks to DARKSIDEDAN for the puzzle caches, I enjoyed them and they will hopefully get me better at puzzles too! Now to solve the P plate series... Nah I'll do them later

Found on a huge invasion of Goorooyaroo today with sebass19. I got the Mulligans Flat CCT caches years ago but left all the Goorooyarroo ones for a big day long into the future. Today was that day, we started early and worked our way north to the point where I finished the Mulligans Flat caches before heading back to the car with some extra finds on the way back. All up, a 6hr walk, our legs were very sore by the end and we had run out of water but the journey was definitely worth the effort. This area has beautiful scenery and is nice and flat basically the whole way through (much flatter than Muliigans Flat, funnily enough)! All caches were found pretty quickly. Most of the caches are without issue but some are a bit wet inside so perhaps a maintenance run of logbooks may be required. Great to have found most of the CCT caches from here to Hall, with a DNF and a few reincarnated ones here and there. TFTC C2M and DSD!
This one: our first on the other side of the fence! Found a stumpy-tail lizard here, that was cool (but it's pretty common around this reserve I guess)!

With a big walk around Goorooyarroo canceled due to key players being on COVID isolation, I decided to target the caches in the reserve that were not on the general walk. I did the original VC series along the Gas pipe road soon before they were replaced by the CCT series. It has taken me this long to get enough motivation to get to the inner ones. It was a fine if chilly morning and I had a great walk.

Dreaded trying to find the cache as I spotted gz. Luckily the coordinates were very accurate and resulted in a quick find
The GeoKid and I rode this section of the CCT today to collect caches down to the point in Goorooyaroo that I got to from the Horse park Drive end last week. Great weather, lots of people (well, it it the weekend) and even a couple of shingleback lizards. A nice slow ride to the south-east (stopping every 200m for a cache) but a quick ride back from the end.
This cache was a straightforward find at GZ - thank you - once we had used the nearby gate to gain access through the geocacher-proof fence.

I headed out for a walk and to find a cache. It was overcast and there was a little drizzle on the way but it soon cleared. On my way I saw a couple of superb parrots. Approaching GZ there was a mob of kangaroos. I soon realized I needed to be on the other side of the fence, thankfully I saw an entrance not too far away. Once at GZ I soon had CIH. Log signed and all replaced and I headed back. I noticed there were quite a few dead tortoise shells in the corridor between the two fences. I walked 8km. TFTC.
I went without the hint and took maybe 1-2 minutes to find as I had to look around a bit. This was to be my last cache, but I noticed what looked to be another trail extending E, then SE. I decided to continue on to Old Joe hill, staying on the "outside" of the fence, I continued around following the new fence being nearer the border and off the Centenary Trail.
#1507 for us and the last for the morning as we have to hotfoot it back to deliver geokids to their activities for the day. TFTC
Was gonna pass this cache but saw a gate to get through the fence so came back for it. TFTC
This was closer to the gate so we back tracked through there to grab this one

I replaced this cache with a small sistema container. I appreciate all that you have done to lay out this series. Yhanks
Went through fence to find this one, no luck. Not even with the hint. Maybe next time
Did a good search through the log pile, no success. Note that the fence has been built and you have to cross through using the gate about 50m away. Last logged in June 2018, wondering whether this cache has been removed due to the fence?
7351 Located by baby&Mrs gopher on the trail to Horsepark Rd. After a walk by to the cache 170 meters down hill it took some time to have this cache in sight. SL Tnx Champs2Monkeys
Set out for a big day caching and was very happy to back in this area once again, it was a very nice area to stroll through on a nice warm autumn's day. This was one of many found today, a bit slow at first but after finding the first couple thats when we started to pick up the pace and we were finding them one after another and making good time. Thanks again for placing all these caches. Note: you can still gain access through a gate up pass the S2-Wood Pile cache!!!
Same problem as with the other one - it will soon be fenced out and out of reach, depending on the new fence. Quick find, TFTC
Found with nissan 65 on a few days away caching Log signed and returned to its hiding place. Thankyou for the cache .
After a big day caching the Centenary Trail between Mulligans Flat Road and One Tree Hill by bike, then a mandatory rest day, it was time for some hiking in Mulligans Flat and into Goorooyaroo, picking up CCT series caches that didn't exist last time I cached this area (plus a couple of detours). A great and tiring day with some wonderful close encounters with wildlife and some big storm clouds that threatened but withheld.
An easy find - too easy! The cache was lying out in the open. Covered up to preserve its modesty. I decided this would be the end of the CCT part of the outing. Time was moving on, storm clouds were forming, it was a long way back and I had a little non-CCT detour to do... TNLNSL TFTC

With dty73 we had a very early morning start to see about the CCT from Horsepark drive through to Mulligans with many side trips for other caches along the way. Started out to be a very cold morning not getting much better with the strong and cold wind through most of the day. TFTC, all was found OK here today.

It feels like ages since we’ve done a nice long caching run, so we headed out to Goorooyarroo Nature Reserve to find some of the Canberra Centenary Trail caches. We had to leave The Woofer at home, which is a shame - she would have loved wandering the track with us! We found 38 of 38 in just over 4 hours - even made it to the border of NSW. Not a bad effort! We had a great morning, and left goodies behind wherever possible.
Unfortunately this one had been uncovered (still in place), but no harm done - everything looked intact. We signed the log, left some goodies, then covered it up. Hopefully the camouflage will still be there for the next person! TFTC!

Inncent Apples and i walked to track all the way from 12 to 5pm.. Beautiful warm sunny ... Thanks
We rode in from the East to complete another section of the ever popular CCT Series. Despite a chilly start, the day soon warmed up to what was an almost perfect day out in Canberra's bushland. While for the majority of the day the only traffic we encountered was air traffic above us, we were run off the road at one point by an ignorant local driver, presumably using the trials to access various parts of his neighboring land...you know what they say about Canberra Drivers...
Thank you to all the cache owners for placing and maintaining the caches we found. Apologies for the generic log, it certainly does not detract from the amount of fun and laughter we shared along the way!

Headed out today with SpecimenX and ZimbaW to walk the CCT trail from Mulligans Flat to the Goo. These caches have been on the radar for some time, and even though it was forecast to the warm, it was too good an opportunity to pass up! Found most of the caches in line with hints, but a couple eluded us in the end. By the end, we were hot, thirsty, tired and sunburnt but happy to have walked the trail and grabbed a bucket load of caches. We still have a few to grab, but perhaps on a cooler day! Loved seeing all the flora and fauna - especially a number of lizards, dragons, and rosellas. Huge thanks to Champs2Monkeys for the trail and giving us an excuse to head out for a hike and exercise.
Twenty second for the day at 1240. I could see the end of my finds coming up (as I am a joint CO on the caches heading towards the Goo gate), so that was an incentive to keep moving, I may have (or may not have) swallowed a fly around this point. Grrrrr. Thanks C2M.

Plans were set in place with ZimbaW and AngelG27 to make an attack on the CCT series between Mulligans and the Goo. Lots of laughs and a heap of caches made the hike through this scenic nature reserve very enjoyable on quite a warm day!

My second day caching in the ACT this long weekend. I down here for a rich caching ground and found myself walking deep within Goorooyarroo and Mulligans Flat Nature Reserve. Surrounded by mobs of kangaroos, swooping magpies, rosellas, and three echidnas! A total of 29km, 64 finds and 3 DNFs. Unfortunately I also found out the hard way that winter is over and the UV rays are burning again.
Hopefully I will be back someday to continue on the caching trail.
Thanks for all the caches.

And the last for the morning - hint had me totally fooled ! 11 for the morning, 2 swoopings and 1 really really fat echidna
Decided to clean-up caches in this area with TheSkype, Duffco and geokids. I've been here before when the older series of caches existed, so it was deja vu. The track was water logged in some parts but a great walk up to main fence near cct2 electric cache. Tftc.
Found it. I think that is the last for Cc2 in Goorooyarroo. Thanks for the caches.
Champs2Monkeys....thank you once again for this lovely Centenary Trail series. We had a "middle section" to find today, so we looked carefully at the map to see which end might be best to start from.
Finally Horse Park Drive was deemed the better starting point (I think the local government should fix/seal the entry point into this area), so we parked and headed off on what is at the moment a rather wet and muddy trail. It was bikes today, and this did save us a lot of time.
We loved the mild winter day, the colours on the surrounding hills, and also the extra few caches we managed to find along the way.
This is a log for all the caches, and we did find them all today. All caches were safe and dry which was lovely to see after so much rain.
Cheers and thanks for such lovely bush walks/runs/ rides throughout yur series,

Came back up here to complete more of the CCT trail. We started in Forde and made our way over to Goorooyarroo but didn't quite complete it as we had to be out by 3pm according to all the warning signs as the reserve closed!
Every cache was found, a few were a little worse for wear which I have logged on the cache page.
Thanks C2M for this part of the trail, it was a great day out on the bikes!

Found today on a longish walk from Hall to Horse Park Drive (after Goorooyooo that is) - about 25km in total.
Departed at 6:25 and made good headway. Slowed down a bit during the day, but got to the end half an hour earlier than projected
With 80ish finds, and 1 DNF, it was a pretty successful day.

Must be half way on our challenge to complete the trail to Mulligan Flat rd. Good spot for lunch.
Great trip from Goorooyaroo through to Mulligans Flat today. We left one car at Mulligans and took the geovehicle to start up near the Federal Highway (south eastern end of Goorooyaroo). Quite a few muggles, walking, running and cycling by us. Some muggles passed on their own, others were in pairs and the largest group was a family of 8! Thanks for the trail. Dark Passion Play and I are really enjoying the outings! TFTC
Did a huge amount of geocaches today with BlueIris. This cache was part of an 8 hour geocaching hike. I signed the logbook DSD or Darkside or Darksidedan.
We've been eyeing off this trail and the long weekend seemed like the perfect time. The weather was glorious, the bikes behaved perfectly, no DNFs, all coordinates were spot on. The only disappointment was our research led us to believe we could ride both section 2 and 3 in a day. Most of section two was a breeze but then the definition of cycle changed to extreme mountain biking, so the going got tough having to push bikes up and down rough terrain, sadly time beat us and we had to stop caching, just to make it to Hall before dark. Apologies for generic posting. We really appreciate the hard work that goes into setting up and maintaining trails of this size. Tftc
Finally a weekend free again for Loki! After a run of working weekends, Loki had a severe dose of cabin fever. Took the bike out today to finish the S2 and Goorooyaroo section of the centenary trail (well mostly). Stunning weather and a great day out. Thanks Champs2Monkeys
Making good use of the cooler weather we attacked this series, on a nice cool day. A pity about the back burning as it has smogged up the whole area even the birds were just sitting in their nests quietly. Thank you for all the effort in placing this series.
Today, I had a big day of caching planned to try and get my numbers up. I still had a few caches to find before Saturday to make it to 3000 so I thought the remainder of the CCT trail would help me out. My plan was to start at Forde and then follow the trail all the way down to Horse Park Drive. That would give me 44 caches. Unfortunately, my time was pretty tight as I had a driving lesson that afternoon so I only had about 3 hours to do them all. I loaded my mountain bike in the car and then headed off to the first cache.
The first cache was found very quickly, just as the next were. In fact, I managed to find almost all the caches within about a minute of arriving at GZ. This meant that I had enough time to pick them all up before meeting my dad at Horse Park Drive. All in all, it took me about 2 and a half hours to pick up all the caches in this section of the trail. I also managed to nab one extra (InFore!mative Stroll by Fore!) which I had gotten GZ for on another day.
With no DNFs, I ended up getting 44 caches for the day. Thanks to Champs2Monkeys and AngelG27 for keeping the trail running. All caches were found in good condition. Sorry for the cut and paste logs...

After a few weeks of planning, and a number of attempts to align calendars, this weekend I came down to Canberra and the ACT area for a big weekend of caching with The Rats and steeba. On bikes, on foot, and in the car, we targeted a number of series and Power Trails placed since our last trip down here. The weather was perfect, the company exemplary, and the numbers achieved exceeded my expectations. It was a very long and tiring weekend, but of course it was also extremely satisfying!
Saturday was a big day. A very big day. Probably classified as a huge day! A massive amount of terrain was covered via various means. We went through suburbia, we rode along trails, we pounded the pavement. We found caches in several series, mostly along the Canberra Centenary Trail and it's surrounds. What a buzz! I really enjoyed the varying terrain, a few hills, some lovely wooded sections, and some amazing views. There is nothing quite as satisfying as going to bed knowing that you are thoroughly exhausted, and really earned your sleep!
Thanks to the all of the cache owners for placing their caches. Sorry for the mainly generic logs.
Cheers

[Teal]Came down to Canberra for a weekends caching with Hoojar and steeba. Taking advantage of the perfect weather conditions we had two great days riding our bikes around some of the newer powertrails that dot the city and suburbs.
Super Saturday had us racing around town from first light till the last rays of the day. We did different trails, different types of caches different types of hides, we used different forms of transport but most of had a great day.
Thanks to the various CO’s for placing these caches. My apologies for the generic log but it doesn’t detract from the fun we had finding them.
