Heading out to Bendora Arboretum for an event with Contesta and later probably with a group of other geocachers. We have a loose plan on finding caches after the event and eventually decided to come up here. There was a bit of huffing and puffing from my side, but I made it up in the end.
Caching around East Coast and a bit inland for a while. TFTC.Today was a big caching day. Unplanned as usual. I decided to attend an event over the Brindabellas and into Namadji Park.I left my caravan at EPIC and picked up my nephew, Boaham at 8:30 and we were off.First stop was Picadilly Circus with an Adventure Lab way point. I had to get that one ready at Uriarra Village while I still had reception and then constantly tap my phone all the way to Picadilly Circus to not let the app close and have the answer become enabled. It worked and I finally could upload the answer the next day. Also at PC I could finally finish the Wherigo that was started a month earlier. We also grabbed the close by cache which required a bit of mountain slope bush bashing.Arrived at the parking for the event to find one Cacher had camped there the night. The event was great with a nice small turn out. The birthday cake at the event was about all but a few muesli bars we ate for the day.The group then started the large multiple way point multi. There were people going all directions looking for overgrown tiny signs in the scrub. We managed to find them all with the help of those with the foresight to photograph the map. Checksums weren't working but we finally had an answer. Yay.After the event Boaham and I did all the caches from there to, and up Mount Franklin. An awesome collection of trads, multis and puzzles.Driving back past the event parking lot at dark and the camping cacher's car was still there. Planning for another very cold camping night in the mountains, I guess.Sure was tuckered by the end of the day.Back in Canberra we met up with my Son and his wife who are silent cachers for dinner and energetic challenge rooms. Phew, what a day. Finally sleep time.Another great cache after the long drive and long walk.
Find # 12118Hi ho hi ho its off to cache we go Another day of adventures with like minded fun loving geocaching buddies. The main target today was GCANYMN Bendora Arboretum Event by Aquillis. With lots of extra caches to find a list was made, a collection of TOTTs was gathered, and off we went into the wild blue yonder. Travelling with isopeda. All caches located, retrieved, signed, and replaced. Thanks Oz Mega Committee for Yowie Chase and this nice little series
Trying to escape the heat SJG66 and I headed for the hills. Found as we wandered up to the top of Mt Franklin. TFTC.
Found it during a nice weekend in Namadgi NP. We walked up the Mt Franklin. We collected few caches on our way. At GZ it was a quick find. Signed the logbook and put the cache back.TFTC
I traipsed further up Mt Franklin keeping my eyes well and truly peeled for the mystical yowie but again had no joy…my tip is he (or she) has gone further south.
Thanks for the cache!
Thanks for the cache!
Found this nice Cache together with Dino and Flintstones. Thank you for putting it out and maintaining it Oz Mega Committee.
A wonderful day trip with the family caching on Father's Day. Its that one of two days every year where you can twist thier arms to come out on a cache outing and then they all have a splendid time anyhow. I choose a hike a little further away, in this case at Mt Franklin and with some more time we went to Bendora Arboretum as well .
Quick find on the way up. all in good order.
Thank you Oz Mega Committee for putting the cache out and maintaining it.

Hiking up Mt Franklin with some family, and decided to do some caching in the way down. TFTC
Nearly frozen in time, I expect some visitors in to he next 4 months will discover a winter wonderland. TFTC
With GreyHams we spent a full and very enjoyable day out in the area... an area I really need to come to more often as it was really spectacular on a day as beautiful as today's. With a FTF out in the area it highlighted the many yet to be found caches out this way and a good choice indeed!
An early start was a tasty one with McMuffins to munch on along the way, lots of little wallabies not an issue with the slower speeds along the quiet narrow road. Despite the frost and frozen ground it wasn't cold as we made our way up the first hill with the most glorious blue sky and still air.
The FTF a nice bonus, it was on to an abundance of caches to choose from, we made many smaller walks, loved the spectacular scenery with the snow gums and mountain views.
I'm sure it was my first time up Mt Franklin peak, and certainly my first visit to Bendora Dam. With all the dams at full, Bendora Dam with the overflowing and rushing water was cool to watch, such a great place and SO pleased to have experienced it.
Thank you for your cache that led to such an amazing day.
Great container... very appropriate for this location.

We were looking for somewhere to go caching today, and seeing a new chache still unfound made me look a little closer, and it was in an area full of unfound caches...and it was in a county that neither of us have a FTF in....so early start was had, and with McMuffin in hand we set off for Mt Franklin.
Still a little ice on the ground when we got out of the car but the slope of the hill warmed us up. All info gathered easily, passing all the trads on the way up and some nice looking coords were had. OK, FTF out of the way we set about trying to at least start multi's, solve puzzles, admire earthcaches, grab trads and even a Wherigo.
A sidetrip down to Bendorra dam was made, on a road that was a little scary at times. Very impressive dam and nice little set of caches to find there too.
After that it was mostly park and grabs on the way back...saw GLISS! and nibletricecakes pass in the other directions after the briefest on-the-road chat.
All in all, a great day with some great variety. To all the CO's, thank you for placing.

Teamed up with AngelG27 and TikvaNZ for a Mt Franklin geomission The wander up to Mt Franklin from the carpark was easier than we expected and the views on this sparkling day were amazing! Nabbed a few others around the area on our way back which topped off a fun morning of caching!
Another quality cache on our wander up. So nice to be out in nature on this gorgeous day!
Thanks for the hide, Oz Mega Committee!

Cache 8120 on 9 Oct 2021.
Too nice a day to not get out for some caches, so joined up with TikvaNZ and SpecimenX to grab a few caches along Mount Franklin road. Had an easy walk up Mt Franklin which was gorgeous and then picked off a few other easy caches along the road. Definitely will have to come back for some of the harder to get to ones. A fun morning out enjoying the reserves all the more now we are allowed back into them!
Another quality cache on the gentle walk up the side of the hill.
Thanks Oz Mega Committee for the cache and the fun!

Perhaps Tim the Yowie man spotted someone in a gorilla outfit or had been taking drugs? I'd like to know what the actual story was. Anyway, I did nothing while GH Junior made this find!
After being defeated by a locked gate at Bull's Head on my previous visit up here last month, it was lovely to have Mt Franklin Rd open and all to myself on a cool, and quite foggy, autumn weekday.
I do love the walk up Mt Franklin, and the historical signs (and, in fact, evidence of that history!) make it all the more interesting. Not much of a view today with all the fog/cloud, but a lovely bushwalk regardless.
This cache was found without issue in the obvious spot.
Thanks!

A quick find while hiking up Mt Franklin today, what a lovely view and day. TFTC
Found with my mate Amr 'The Mountain Goat' while on our walk up Mt Franklin - a first-time for both of us. Splendid summers day and awesome alpine views. Always love a good quality ammo can in the heart of Namadgi. Maybe one day I'll spot the elusive Yowie. TFTC!
Today was a trip to Mount Franklin road the attend an event in the afternoon. While another group walked up Mt Gingera, I visited as many caches along the ridge as I could. I went for a walk halfway up the Mt Franklin Ski run to get two Yowie caches. Nice big well stocked caches.
Thanks for the cache Oz Mega Committee

I was bummed when I missed the walk up Mount Franklin many years ago when the group came out for the Yowie tour, I had to work after the event at the Cotter! Taken me over 4 years to finally come and visit, my first time here as well!
Enjoyed finding this cache today, especially since it is my favourite container!
Thanks Oz Mega Committee for the unique story told

Visited Mt Franklin with Mrs MajuraHathi on a glorious day that happened to coincide with a working bee for the Mt Franklin facilities today. After a quick chat it was a chance to head on up the trail. Ducked off the path to chase down a yowie. Please to report that these was no yowie, but did find the cache at 1520 this afternoon. Gotta love these cache containers, my favourite, Thankyou for placing this cache and a chance to add to the sheer joy of being here today.
Cheers

Found 14:05 5/7/20. A beautiful day for a walk up Mount Franklin through the snow. Thank you Oz Mega Committee for the cache and bringing me to this location.
It have never seen it so busy down in the carpark as it was today. Some were even parking out on the road.
No Yowies spotted today but a light layer of ice was everywhere.

Catching up with some late logs.
Noikmaster had orgainised a tour through the Brindabellas to take in the magnificent views afforded there and had kindly asked us along. We joined forces this morning with the tour leader, pprass,Nurse Hayley, maccamob, nanna nell,wozza9, Mr Coffee and The Drovers and took off in a small convoy.
The track was starting to get a little steeper here and by the time our old bones got up to gz the cache had been found and the log book handed around so again we added our name to it and admired the views through the trees. Even if there had been a "Yowie" here our old bones and lungs were in no condition to go chasing it. As we said earlier we did see one later in the night dancing with other geocacahers.
Thanks Oz Mega Committee for the cache.

In the company of Maccamob, Team Crackers Pprass, Nurse Hayley, Wazza9, Nana Nel, and The Drovers we set off for the caches in the hills.
We had a great day driving through the mountains and climbing a few hills in both the Kia and on foot.
This cache was higher than the last and all I was chasing was my lung capacity.
Our thanks to Oz Mega Committee for the cache and the views

Went out for the day with Pprass, Nurse Hayley, Crackers, The Drovers, Macamob, Wazza9 and The Coffees, led by Jermery. Great day had by all searching for the caches. Signed log and replaced. Thanks to CO.
Found by Mary and David, in company with pprass, NurseHayley, Mr.Coffee, wazza9, Nana Nel, Team Crackers and The Drovers, at 12:45:00. Our fourth cache stop on Mt Franklin. The trail to here was probably the steepest for the day, but looked easier up ahead. Our thanks to Oz Mega Committee.
Found at 12:50 PM in the company of maccamob, NurseHayley, Mr.Coffee, wazza9, Nana Nel, Team Crackers and The Drovers,.
Not a good idea to run to try and be the first to get to the cache - [xx(] If a Yowie came out there would have been no way that I could have chased it.

Headed into the Brindabella's, for a day off four wheel driving and awesome views.
Picked up this cache along the way.
Many thanks for placing this cache, Oz Mega Committee, for us and others to find.

Thanks for the cache! We made a quick detour off the track while walking up Mt Franklin.
What was a hot muggy Canberra day was a beautiful cool/warm overcast/sunny day in the Brindabella's. What a perfect day to walk in the mountains picking up this cache and all others nearby. The flowers are currently glorious so we can imagine just how superb it must have been during this past Spring. We walked about 5km over a couple of hours.
We found an expensive heavy Motorola two way radio at the top of the Mt Franklin trail walk poking out from under a shrub as the exposed cord was mistaken for either a lizard or potentially a snake. We left the radio at the Mt Franklin chalet for a ranger to pick up just in case parts are still usable however our guess is that it's no longer viable and just too old.
Loved this general location for many reason. The wild flowers, the wind swept shrubs, the beautifully coloured rocks and the good views that continue to show the impact of the 2003 fires.
Quick and easy find. TFTC Oz Mega Commiittee.

Popped past here after heading up to mount Ginini to play in the snow. It was very busy with 4WDs today so I headed out here to find the furthest one first. Lots of hiding places had me looking for a hint alas, there was none to be had. Eventually I ignored the rocks and had a better look at the most obvious tree and soon had the cache.
Thanks Oz Mega Committee

Day 12 of my MEGA road trip up to Oz Geomuster 2018 and back again saw me starting my day in the ACT and finishing it camping on the NSW side of the Murray river. A fantastic day with beautiful weather yet again and some nice hikes thrown in for good measure.
The sun was shining and the birds were singing, a beautiful day to be alive.
Many thanks to Oz Mega Committee for the cache. TNLN.

Caching mount Franklin on the long Canberra weekend. My main aim is ginini falls but this one and a few others along the way. Higher up. Tftc.
Out exploring the 4WD and hiking trails today. This trail was on my to do list so after beating a 4WD trail that last time claimed my rear light it was off to this trail.
Awesome hike up to the summit for the first cache on my list then after a look around it was back down to pick up all the caches on the way.
Found the cache hidden well and had it back in its hide after signing the log.

Even further up Mt Franklin. Still no Yowie, but a little more snow (and one bug). TFTC.
Another one done. Woo Hoo! I love the challenge of the geocache hunt - read the notes, decipher the cache requirements, and go searching for the hide. This is an amazing world-wide game of hide and seek. I love it! I also enjoy caching with my family, and meeting fellow cachers. It really is a small world when I read over cache logs. **Thanks go to Oz Mega Committee** for placing this cache and maintaining it. It's a great contribution to the Geocaching community and much appreciated.
We were out on a 4x4/hiking/geocaching day. There was a lot of snow after the past week of cold weather and we had a great day in perfect sunshine. The cache had to be located by 'arctic exploring' through a thick layer of snow. I enjoyed finding this one at 1:16:32 PM with Jackson Lightning, Bailey and LiamK.
TFTC! Cheers. *Jump Pilot*

A nice hide in a beautiful location. Up early, we had Mt Franklin to ourselves. TFTC.
Out caching around Mount Franklin this weekend and we decided to drop in and head up to the top and grab this one on the way. After hunting around we spotted a tell tale sign and soon had the cache in hand.
Thanks for the hide

Took a while to find. the camo was frozen in place so even when I had spotted it, it still took a while to retrieve....
A day out caching Brindabella Rd and surrounds South from there. Surprise....no yowie sightings today.

The third find of the day. Out this way with JohnnyBoyACT, Marmaduke Rothschild, Fox in Jox, ZQX and TikvaNZ hoping to make it to Ginini Falls. After 7 hours, we were able to say 'Been there, done that!'. This was the last one before the main event. TikvaNZ saved this one till later but the rest of us took the opportunity to make the grab. With such a squad of geocachers on hand, this one was a very quick find. Log signed and cache replaced. TFTC Tankengine!
A 'successful' 8hr bushwalking trip from Mt Franklin carpark to Ginini Falls with Cankid, TikvaNZ, ZQX, JohnnyBoyACT and Marmaduke Rothschild. This one was found on our way up to Mt Franklin. TFTC OMC. No sightings today.

Missed out on getting these when they were new, but had the opportunity today to make a brief visit to Mt Franklin and grab these caches. After waiting out a brief shower, headed up the hill to make the find. Quick find and cache in excellent condition after the winter, but was uncovered and quite obvious, so covered it up a bit better. Nice views from here, and lots of flowers out (especially paper daisies). Dropped GC.
Thanks,
Thanks,
A little bit higher and still no Yowies. Damn. Cache was very exposed to the trail so we fixed that. Loved the views back to the chalet and the magnificent mountain-scape. Great day to be on top of the ACT with a low cloud cover just above us. FP for added cudos
Yep, a little higher now, but the views are still the same........Great below us and into valley........Foggy up towards the top......and alas, not a Yowie to be seen.
Cache was found ok, log signed, cache replaced and covered....and then we were off to talk to a man about some shale.
Thanks again OZM........certainly enjoyed our wander into Yowie country. Favourite point added.

Found 27th March with Kittykatch and the other yowie crew after a geo event at the Cotter. Lovely day, great walk. TFTC
A bit more up. Hopefully the chocolate variety would appear soon[?] Twas not to be however, but we did find the cache. We didn't feel the need to continue to the top this time . Thanks Oz Mega Committee
We continued on our Yowie hunting adventure this afternoon, we had the whole mountain to ourselves which felt pretty amazing. Since this new cache was published we were keen to get up here to explore the area and chase down a Yowie . Another lovely large cache was quickly found and log signed and we continued on up the mountain...
Thanks OMC , this was a lovely spot to sit in the late afternoon sun. TFTC

Found with the Yowie Team group that joined up to tackle these caches following the Cotter Meet n Greet event today. Wonderful views, weather and company made for a great day. So glad this group provided the opportunity to get out here - I will be back to explore some more - might even see the elusive Yowie. Gets a FP from me Thanks again OMC !
Found as part of the Team Yowie Group after the Cotter Meet and Greet, I made it all the way to the top!!!

We went on a Yowie chase after the "Cotter Meet n Greet" earlier today - a convoy of four vehicles and sixteen ppx. I think we were far too noisy for any Yowie to venture forth! [:o)]
But it was a great chase, nevertheless - despite the efforts of Darkside(Yowie)Dan - and fun was had all round.
Found at 3.45pm on 27th March 2016. TFTC.

Drove in from Captains Flat this morning (passed some cachers doing the CFT) and had decided to just attend the Event as I had spent yesterday afternoon grubbing out regrowth. Once there however, the idea of a Yowie hunt was just too appealing, so thanks to the Farmers 5 for organising the hunt and big thanks to Tankengine for driving us up to Mt Franklin.
I am really glad I joined the Yowie Hunt Team as I doubt I would have come up here by myself. I had never been here before and thoroughly enjoyed the walk, the finds, the great weather and most importantly the wonderful company!
Well we may have been hunting for a yowie but there was no luck there, considering the frivolity and chatter, it was not surprising. We did however find this cache, and some others!
Many thanks to all the team! SL as Team Yowie

#1114. 118 days in a row.
I headed out to Cotter to attend the event. It was great to see so many familiar faces and meet new people. I had plenty of chats with people about all sorts of caching-related topics.
After the event, I went out on the Yowie hunt sub-event. We got four caches on that sub-event and most of us continued on to another one before heading back.
This was the third of the four, with a quick discovery being made by myself. Log was signed as "Team Yowie".

Choo ooo *FTF* at 9.20am. Always nice to have an unexpected, unscheduled walk in the Brindabellas! Especially up here on a beautiful morning like today! Walked a little higher to log this, as no reception at GZ. Sitting on a log, typing this miles away from anywhere - so peaceful, lovely! Alas no Yowies this morning, but just as well, as they would have disturbed the peace! Great cache, thanks OMC! Favourite from me!
