This end of Shepherd's Road is prone to being badly eroded by any decent downpour. And there is the waterhole that blocks the road almost permanently these days, making access to the last 2 caches difficult even for 4WD vehicles.
Reluctantly I've decided to archive the last 4 caches on this road.
Reluctantly I've decided to archive the last 4 caches on this road.
Down this way doing maintenance, and noticed the water hole in the middle of the road is still impassable. Saw a big 4WD turn back coming the other way, so beware. Lot of rubbish being dumped here so might have to move this one in the future. Pity, I like Shephard's Road.
A day's outing while staying at Bellbrae with Bogonghazy had us travel into Geelong where we jumped on the bikes to do a few of the rail trail series and finishing the day in Queenscliff.
This was another great cache in a ripper series on our journey today, thanks again Suehut
We needed to walk to these, as the bogholes were a little intimidating

Out for the day with LittleBoss2 on our short escape to Anglesea. Today we started in the middle of Geelong and rode/worked our way to Queenscliff.
This was a great little series where the roads started great, but deteriorated badly by the end, meaning we decided to walk to the last 2 caches instead of risking the long muddy bogholes.
Thanks for a series that provided a few pleasant surprises SueHut
Very clever container that eluded me, but LB2 was onto it, fave added

Walking here from the previous cache, the road deteriorated quickly. Easy for a 4WD to get through all the mud and puddles, which one did while I was walking down the road. It was actually quite surprising to see a vehicle down here! There is so much rubbish around. Tyres everywhere, I even found a car rego plate! Half expected to find an entire car as I made my way through. Not. Even. Joking.
I made my way down the well defined trails to get around the mud and water. There are a few spots where a little detour is needed. Arriving at GZ it was sad to see that there are bottles everywhere. Why can't people take their rubbish home? I believe that's why this container is still happily in place. Anyone looking at it would think it's just trash. But for us, it's treasure. I haven't seen a cache like this before and it was so much fun opening it! TFTC

Road became very wet with a large puddle blocking the road ahead. Geowife took one for the team & headed off on foot to get the cache. Good hide. Quite deceiving.

Lots of water holes to negotiate along this road with lots of rain patches to fill them up!
Sorry about the generic log, but we're on a roll with finding and haven't got a lot of time!
For several months now we have been doing regular caching runs with Rebel Acts, but commitments put a stop to that for a while. We have come down to stay in Geelong for a week or two, and invited Rebel to come for a few nights so we could complete some of the numerous caches around here. As usual we have signed our Joint find logs RASH (Rebel Acts SKI Pair).
The weather started out miserable today so we decided to stick with as many caches as possible that we could get from the car. A few short trails helped with with the numbers, and we were very pleased to see a number of small and regular caches instead of the micro and nanos we often find doing trails. Well done to the Bellarine CO's, its great to find the bigger
containers.

My good friends Ski Pair were heading down to Geelong for a few days and invited Me to join them, who could resist being chauffeured around and the company and laughs are always good. We had a great time touring the area discovering new locations while finding caches, We even managed dinner with Suscoe and Busfire.
This is one of the caches we found for the week.

Out picking up some hides while the daughters and wife have a day spa pampering!
Interesting hide here, nice bit of camo made for a quick find. But the road was too rough and wet to continue

That was interesting had to go thru some large puddles and one was a bit slippery, love the cache
Fooled myself with this one when I checked it. Had forgotten I'd moved it a little and had designed it to illustrate that a big container can be a micro cache.
Stunning afternoon, light breeze, not too hot, and beautifully sunny. Decided to head out to Shepherd's Road and see what Treasure we could discover. We parked one car at the top of the road, and all piled into the other to drive to the other end. As the cache description suggests it can get a little wet at the bottom end of the road, and there were some lovely big puddles to drive through (a bit like jumping in puddles as a kid). Once we were safely parked (not overly easy at the lower end of the road but definitely possible), we started back up the hill to find the 15 caches. This one was the second one, and we had to negotiate a few large puddles, the geodogs took the opportunity to get muddy. Thank you deshut for this cache.

I had failed at my first mission and was on my way to the next one but had a little bit of time to fill in so I stopped at a few in this series before making my way to Barwon Heads.
Interesting micro, it would be good if all micros were this easy to find.
**Thanks to deshut for placing this cache.**

completed all available caches on Shepherd's Road and possibly left my keys somewhere along the road. Half the finds seem to have dropped off the logs! So reposting. Sorry for the repetition. Thankyou for the caches and the adventure.
So near to the end of this stretch of road, and no problem here as with those that preceded
A very well constructed cache that I initially thought was dumped rubbish. Now where is the cache? Soon had my bane in the logbook. TFTC and a favourite from me
Out after the Mussel festival TFTC with Kristy's adventures and roaming Howie BTW it's okay to Fart outside of the car
Out caching with Kristysadventures and classycacherAB along the trail! And so the journey begins. TFTC
After debating for a bit is it or isn’t it, i unscrewed the lid with a tiny fright from the spring and it was it
Came back to find the rest of the trail. Going backwards like a countdown. Tftc
Woke very early on Christmas morning, there was not a peep in the house and it didn’t appear there would be for a few hours. What to do?
Of course. Cache time.

This little series has been on my radar for a while now, and today was the day to do it. B & C enjoyed the variety of containers here and were happy to come away with 14 finds out of 15. Finishing them all wouldve been nice, but thems the breaks sometimes
Thanks deshut for placing this Micro Traditional - this is find 1803 for BFMC

After having had enough of people and finding parking spots and needing to be mindful of other drivers we have headed for the dirt.
We have completed three trails today with only one DNF, I suppose you need to leave yourself something to do on another trip. The cache hides have been unusual and mostly different. There has been considerable care put into the construction of the caches. These are the little things that have you wondering what the next cache will be. Because we assumed, at times, what the hide would be we spent far longer at some than what we needed to do. Most of the co-ords were good, a few seemed a bit off but that could be the weather, or it just may have been our GPS not playing nice. We think we may be due for a new GPS; it has had quite a workout over the years. Some are now in need of a little TLC as the contents have been wet at some point with some of them.
It was good not to a trail where all the containers were the same and the cache hides also the same. SL TFTC

Out for the caching day with Crank1 & Everlasting in and around Geelong. Found your cache. Thanks deshut for placing it and for the fun in this series.
Having just completed hiking the Bellarine Rail Trail over the last two days we couldn’t resist making the most of the last hour of daylight and so we came in search of some of the caches in this series. This good fun cache was a nice quick find once at Ground Zero. We signed the log book and then replaced as found. Thanks so much for the cache and greetings from Zimbabwe
This was the second series for the day, and, just like the first a lot of work has gone into the hides.
Good co-ordinates made for easy finds for all the caches except one.
All were in good condition.
Thanks suehut for the series.

This was our second one after having started at #15. We attempted to make our way to a third, but the puddles and slippery conditions toward SRT#13 made it too unstable.
This was a quick find in some fading light. Cheers. Looking forward to coming back to find some more one day when it's a bit drier.

Cache was found in the last place we looked, which as usual was not the first place we looked. Thanks for a fun cache. We signed the logbook FETT.
Found with Freddo, Team Waldron and thewhitedoggang on a short, post-Christmas sojourn to Victoria that involved plenty of driving, cycling, walking and even some boating and wading.
The weather was on our side (albeit a little warm at times), which made for some great caching. There were plenty of varied finds, with some excellent and often tricky hides and and just a few DNFs. We signed most logbooks ‘F.E.T.T.’
Thanks deshut for the cache.

This one has witnessed some roadworks, so I suspect the lizard that guarded the cache has disappeared. A new container and a slight relocation. See the amended cache description and change coords note.
Cache is now on the south side of the road, not the north.

Thanks to the long weekend back home, I was able to pop over the ditch for the mega and a ‘few’ caches along the way! I was really after the numbers on this trip, planning to achieve 50+ each of the three days for a challenge – something that is getting much more difficult back home! The weather was great and I had a ball thanks to all the CO’s placing great caches!
Today’s aim was to find some more along power trails and trailets, and a few interesting others. I am so grateful for the variety in the trails! I had to walk to the last two here as the car was not designed for the condition of the road... Lucky I did not start at this end! TFTC!!

Find #3665. Found @ 18:04 with The Good Lady Wife.
We're in Portarlington on a getaway, and getting in some caching is a part of that plan.
The Good Lady Wife and I ventured out without the kids to make a few finds, and I decided that after collecting a couple of the puzzles we'd do some easier drive-bys. The Good Lady Wife was pulling over off to the side of the road when we got near to GZ, although we were beginning to suspect that this road does not get used much.
Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables.
Thanks for the cache deshut

Grub62 and I decided to do Shepherd's Road Treasure series and the Do You Believe In series so I could finish the world turtle souvenir also getting 1000 cache logs for myself. Most of this series was very clever and easy to find which assists old eyes like mine. thank you Deshunt for these 2 series of caches. TFTC.
An important day of caching - hope to get my 150th find, Bunadoorians World Turtle and his 1000th find - so we started on the Shepherd's Road Treasure series then onto Do You Believe In series both by deshut and suehut. Then finishing in Queenscliff at 360degrees. #2 of 30 today. I loved this cache !! TFTC and the Shephard's Road Treasure series.
After doing the Fairy series I have come across to do this Treasure series. The road was a bit rough at the start and there was one big puddle I was a bit worried the Commadore wouldn't make it through but it did. Some great design for the different caches and I will award some Fav points to a couple. Thanks again for another great series deshut.
Another day looking good with no rain with sassieold55 we wanted to add smileys to this series Tftc
Find No. 2281. Found with FUF009 at 12.10pm
Well what can we say when FUF009 said it all.
We done a day trip to Geelong, some three hours away, and FUF009 came with us.
Our aim for the day was to do the D2B series plus three other caches close by, then the Shepherd's Road series and Do You Believe In ... Series, to get a total of 75 caches for the day to help us get the Hidden Creatures Souvenirs.
Finishing these three trails earlier than expected we then went on the AB4C series, seeing how we had both worked on these puzzles together. We grabbed a few others along the way and at the end of our caching day in the Geelong area, we had clocked up 100 finds. WOW - This is a first for us and a day that we won't forget.
* We got our first cache at 8.59am and our last cache at 4.55pm.
* We had rain at the start that made the roads muddy and changed the colour of our car from red to brown.
* We stopped twice for eats and cuppas - Lunch at D2B 43 at St.Leonards, on the waters edge then again near AB4C #13 at the dead end road.
* An enjoyable caching day was had by all of us despite the weather, plus the day was made less time consuming with well maintained caches therefore no time was wasted on DNF's.
TFTC and a fav point from us for the effort gone into this one and for being a bit different

Find # 6803
Found with Tyred n Cranky
A day of caching to help out with accumulating enough smileys to try and get closer to the 100 needed for the Hidden Creatures souvenirs.
We started off on the D2B trail where Tyred n Cranky’s Magna changed from a nice red colour to a lovely shade of brown, the true colour for a geocacher's vehicle.
Thankfully the rain had blown away by the time we got down to St Leonards, just leaving the cold wind behind.
After a lunch stop down near D2B #43 we then headed off for the "Shepherd's Road Treasure" series and then to the "Do You Believe In ..." series.
again both the roads added to the colour of Tyred n Cranky’s Magna.
After completing these we realised we had plenty of time left in the day for more and then added to the plans and headed off over to the AB4C puzzle series near Waurn Ponds.
On the way around, for the day, there were a few of extra caches thrown in to the mix, as they were “close by” or on the way.
With a few caches, that took some minutes to locate or get into, But with persistence and patients we managed to make a find on all in the day.
All in all we ended up with a finds totalling just over 100. This is the first time that Tyred n Cranky have made the big 100 in 24 hours. A great fun and memorable day indeed.

We had a hankering for a few smilies! It was decided to head out towards Queenscliff today and pick up a few more.
The Chief had fun driving through the puddles over the road, I think he was disappointed there weren’t more or that they weren’t a bit deeper and that he didn’t need to raise the car a bit higher or something...boys and their toys! Thanks for placing Shepherd's Road Treasure 14 so we could find it. Cache was all good.

Off I go to Melbourne! Down from Canberra for a caching trip around the Mega!
So the Mega had ended BUT more caching had to be done!
I've had this series on the radar for ages so it was time to collect I had a great time on the trail-the roads were quiet, the hides were relatively easy finds (although a few were a bit of a challenge!), and it was nice a nice cool day
Apologies for the generic logs!

Road ahead is badly under water so we grabbed this one and will go to the top of the series and see how far down we can get. Love the cache definitely a favorite
Having completed the nearby Knights Rd series with the geokids this afternoon, the adults were itching to take advantage of these closely spaced and thoughtfully planned caches. Geodad and I raced along this road and quickly found the caches along Shepherd's Rd. A few large and impassable puddles at the the Eastern end of the road meant the the last three caches were retrieved on foot whilst I completed a ridiculous series of maneuvers in our large van to turn around. Thanks for placing these Deshut and apologies for the generic log. TFTC
A neat container here, and a cool little surprise upon discovering the container!
With the weather forecast predicting a warm and sunny day, abl973 and I decided to head to the Bellarine Peninsula. It was an ideal time to visit with clear skies and wonderful sunshine.
Thanks to deshut for placing this cache.

Grabbed this second for me but 14th in the series, going the wrong way
Saw the big puddle/s in front and getting dark so called it quits anyway.
But though go through the water anyway, was fun but needs a 4x4 otherwise you will get stuck!!!
