Either we are blind or the cache is not there as we searched the entire area around the sign and found nothing. As previous logs said it was obvious or in the open, we don't see how we could have missed it. Perhaps it has been taken away for repair?

Having DNF’d a nearby cache I had to restore my pride with a find. This one is there, but extremely wet. I poured about 500mls water out of the container, and the log book in its bag is sodden too. Managed to engrave our caching name in the wet pages, but this cache needs some serious TLC.

31-Jul-20
This cache needs maintenance. (What happened to that option? it doesn’t seem to be a choice any more)

I could say this was my most challenging, daunting, difficult find to date.
But I cannot lie.
It's just a smidge too small to be able to count this for the Jolly Green Giant Challenge (https://coord.info/GC3R540), methinks. Nevertheless, thank you for this extraordinary hide Smile

I started my great and unique round trip over the South Island in Christchurch.
My first major stopover was at Lake Tapeko - here I hiked up to Observation Mountain.
I then planned two days in Mount Cook NP with some unforgettable hikes. My big goal was the Mueller Hut - on a super strenuous hike I reached it.
I continued my journey over the lonely Danseys Pass to Dunedin.
Afterwards I drove along the Southern Scienic Route via Invercargill to Manapouri for some days. On this route I visited many sights and enjoyed the beautiful nature again and again.
I already booked a tour to the Doubtful Sound in advance - another highlight on my tour.
Afterwards I drove on to Queensown and Wanaka. From there I continued over the Haast Pass to the lonely Jackson Bay with storm and heavy rain. Afterwards I drove along the west coast always in pouring rain.
The rain stopped the whole west coast, but I had good rainwear with me. Only high up in Nelson the sun shone again.
Soon I reached the east coast again in Picton and Blenheim and the sun was shining again.
After a few days I travelled back to Christchurch via the beautiful town of Kaikoura.
At the end of my round trip I spent a few more days in Christchurch and its surroundings.
I visited many geological sites and found many caches on my round trip. In Rangiora I visited an event.
I travelled 3418 km and take home a lot of positive experiences.
Thanks to many beautiful caches I was also shown unique locations, historical sites and geological features.
I am overwhelmed by the fantastic and ever changing nature on the South Island of New Zealand - I will definitely come back.

Many thanks to all owners

On a caching weekend to Otago and Southland with Tuolei to pick up old caches, TMGT's, CANZ, solved puzzles and any others that caught our eye along the way. We had a 4 day long weekend planned that would take us around Dunedin on the first day, Tuatapere via Sutton, Balcutha, Mataura and Winton on the second day, Tokanui via Riverton, Invercargill and Bluff on the third day and then back to Dunedin via the Catlins on the last day. Overall we did 1578km and picked up just under 100 caches and managed to knock off most of the caches we had on our list.

In the area to grab a couple of puzzles so called by this park and grab as well. No problems here - TFTC.

07-Feb-20
Out and about on day one of Bennett24 and my holiday to the south to look for interesting caches including oldies, solved puzzles, geotour caches, and interesting types. We are heading south from Middlemarch to Tuatapere today - quite a drive - and stopping off to get a few caches on the way to break up the trip.

Stopped in here and made a quick find, on one side we saw the camp of some type flying the flag of Israel and on the other a group of kids playing on an enormous slide and slide.

Cache found and on our way again. Thanks for the cache.

Homeward bound from a day trip I to the area .a stop here to stretch the legs and have a nice walk on the beach.
We are so lucky to have so many nice and accessible beaches in our country.
I like hides like this .
Hidden in plan site and you don't need to spend time on your hands and knees or fighting with a gorse bush .
With long signed returned goods to it home and back to our homeward journey.
I am sure there is more spots that will require us to stop and stretch the legs.
With a lot of unfinished business in the area we will be back .

Thanks for the hide

This large bucket must be gone. Spent 10 mins or more searching lifting rocks etc all over the rock pile 3x over. I was looking for a much smaller box so was surprised on logging a DNF and seeing that it was really a large one. My night search with torch did not find it.

This has to be one of the best hiding in plain sight I have come across. Driving up I spotted it but could not believe it was what we were seeking. Its now tagged under the watchfull eye of a local 4 legged resident. He came a bit close due to The Seagnoid giving it some attention and got zapped for his effort. Naughty Seagnoid. Cheers

Its Wednesday 24 April and we are off exploring Milburn, Lawrence and Lake Mahinarangi today. Awesome!!

Its another awesome geoventure to Dunedin, with The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby, Jack, Jill and William all along for the trip. Had a wonderful 10 days exploring Dunedin. It was great catching up with local cachers at several events we attended. Lots of walking and driving, with the odd cycle and wave ride to jazz things up. Thanks to all the COs that made this trip a wonderful success. Even managed to bag some lab caches along with wherigos, earth caches and events, with the usual mix taking us to some amazing places..

24-Apr-19
This has to be the most un-hidden geocache ever! Big bucket, plain as day, beside the letterbox. No attempt to hide it at all. I assume all the youth camp staff know about it. Lid is cracked due to too much sun and too heavy a rock, so water is getting in.
A horse came over to say hi, but she got a little too close to the fence and got zapped.

Taybeedragon and I have an eleven day Easter weekend in Dunedin. Although, let's face it, given that we are from Blenheim and Picton that means two of those days was spent in travelling. In that time we grabbed a smidge over three hundred caches. Not bad, considering the amount of time spent way out on the back roads, on bicycles or canoeing on the water. A few virtuals, larges, letterboxes, earths, wherigos, and even ten lab caches in the haul. An awesome weekend!

We are on our summer holiday driving around the South Island with no real idea of where we will end up each day. We are often drawn to an area that has the potential to give us a few geocaching smilies and somewhere we have not spent time exploring before. In some cases we are revisiting placed that we have been before but liked so much we are going there again.

We were impressed with how exposed this is yet it has not been muggled. The cache was soon spotted and the log signed and we returned it as we found it.
Thank you for placing this cache and thank you for the smiley

04-Apr-18
As we headed out towards Te Anau, we came past this one and had to stop, as we know people who used to live/work here. After thinking we'd make an easy find, we were scratching around a bit. Then the Moose called from the car 'here it comes!'. Its not everyday you get the cache handed straight to you by the CO! After having a chat and realising he knew people I knew, we signed the log, hid the cache where it should go and went on our way. Thanks for the hide and bringing us here!

26-Mar-18
Found it while on camp!

13-Feb-18
I must be getting tired because I pulled up and without taking the GPS assumed I knew where the cache would be. Turns out I was at the wrong sign on the other side of the road! Derr! Nice quick find of the big cache once I'd got myself sorted. TFTC # 11,916

- Added path tag coin and a couple of travel bugs (one of mine reincarnated and the other that was found outside the cache nearby in the stones found during the summer camps we had on-site)
- Also added note to let campers at the youth camp that are doing our geocaching activity that is is a *real* one and not one of the camps.

Been past here before and stopped to pick up the bucket. Signed the ok-ish logbook but some of the wet swag and rubbish got CITO'd. Added some more swag grabbed in a PVC baggy and replaced with the camo cover left available. Grabbed the missing [TB](https://coord.info/TB6F8J7) to get marked as missing and wouldn't recommend leaving any more TB's here. tftc

Day three of my long, long weekend in Otago and Southland and I’m loving every moment of it. Woke this morning in my Airbnb in Winton to the sound of rain so I was a little downcast thinking I was back to wet shoes and socks for the day. However, my fears were misjudged as the day was crisp and clear. Left Winton with a good impression and more than I arrived (pre-arrival all I knew that the only woman hanged in New Zealand, Minnie Dean, came from here).

Making good progress heading towards Dunedin, but there's still time to get a few more caches - I'm hoping to get a round 50 for the day. This was another quick find here and I can keep going. TFTC

Out with Red Roaming as we continue our tour of New Zealand. another lovely day. we are in Dunedin, to meet an old nursing friend, it has been 37 years since we met! What a brilliant night we had, reminiscing etc and a lovely meal too. Logs signed with our full names or DD & RR to save space. This was rather exposed when we found it and once the log was signed we re-hid it as best we could. TFTC

I had a free transfer-a-car booked from Queenstown to Christchurch, so obviously I decided to head back to Christchurch via Invercargil to get a few "must have" caches. Teamed up with mrdan01 for this trip.

Cache quickly found. Thanks for the hide.

19-Mar-17
Day two of a weekend road trip with 2wombles. He had booked a free rental car between Queenstown and Christchurch, and was nice enough to invite me along for the ride! Naturally we decided to take the scenic route - via Invercargill and Dunedin, but unfortunately, we had to cut out the Catlins due to a flight delay at the start of the trip. I really enjoyed getting out to this part of our country that I don’t get to see very often, and there were plenty of laughs along the way too! TFTC (3546)
