A very late decision to head up this way with the main objective being the CITO, I packed all sorts of gear not knowing the size of the weeds. With a bit of luck I also put in the old mattock which was the best Bushfire tool that I could have packed and if there any more CITO in this area a mattock is the ideal tool to remove these pesky weeds. Put that on the list for the next one.
This cache was next on my list so after finding a good location to pull over and park, it was only a short wander along a well worn path.
After signing and replacing this guy the weather turned nasty with lightning, thunder and then the heavens opened up and did not stop all the way back to Geelong.
Thanks to the Ballaratgeocachers for placing and maintaining this guy.

Suscoe was in Ballarat today caching with the sister.
It was a delightful day with sunshine and a mild breeze looking after us.
A long way from the snow on our last trip here.
We had a terrific time with the sister and had some laughs and enjoyable times finding caches around the town.
11th find of the day.
Thanks to the BallaratGecachers for this hide.
In the sun this parkland looked great.
The carved rocks along the path would make a terrific little multi we thought!!

Found by Mary & David at 1555. What a good, solid traditional name. It is the second name of our eldest grandson, too, and has been used by males in several generations on both sides of our family. Spotted it fairly quickly once at GZ - glad it wasn't a colour that blended in. We did admire the rock carvings along the path. Our thanks to BallaratGeocachers.

A trip to Ballarat, to try and tidy up a few errant caches to the east, turned out to be a freezing and somewhat frustrating day. Perhaps we got our eyes in with Harriet! A much quicker result here.
Loved all the rocks on the path in/out - kool - see images.

Our thanks to BallaratGeocachers for placing this cache.

Another return visit to this site.

In the area for a half day and had some caching time up my sleeve, so decided to finish what I could of this Name series. Only a couple got me, which were hangers Sad

Bentley the Geomutt enjoyed stretching the legs as I was in out around the area. Only a couple left and think I have well and truly seen this section of Ballarat now!

Thanks for the rush around and the caches - all found in good nick.

Cheers

Fancy meeting you here in the dark in the park Becca85. Good fortune that we could jointly sign the FTF. Funny how I answered your hubbies call asking if you were ok. Oops not the most inspiring sound at that stage for him to hear. Glad you could quickly reassure him. Bit of a chat on a busy night with neighhood muggles everywhere. TNLN TFTC.

{FTF} with Saint Anthony. Heading home from the Cache, camp & 4WD event, we'd been without service for several hours so as any tech-addict does, all communication platforms were eagerly checked as soon as we were back in range. A new cache published! We'd basically driven past it earlier today.
As we got closer, I realised it would be silly to detour in to Ballarat when we could cruise the highway to get home however we then remembered that fuel at home in Maryborough is $1.19 per litre vs the $0.98c we could grab while over here. So it was decided we'd head in to grab the cheapest fuel. At this point, I casually mentioned that a potentially un-found cache was right on our way! Well close enough...
We pulled up but the kids were fast asleep in the back. Husband gets paranoid when I cache alone at night but as we could park only 150ish metres away, I convinced him it would be a nice quick find & I'd be within screaming distance if I needed him.
Off I went, torch & phone in hand. I quickly found GZ and had begun poking around when I head footsteps. I briefly crapped my dacks & jumped out in my best karate stance before the strange male approaching turned out to be Saint Anthony a fellow cacher and thankfully friend. I could search much easier now that I felt a bit more at ease, in pitch black in a park I don't know in the middle of the night...
The cache was soon spotted and we happily co-signed a FTF on blank log.
As we emerged from GZ, we could see another torch heading our way. Turns out it was just my husband who had been a little concerned when he saw someone joining me & yelled out asking if I was okay.
Saint Anthony (AKA possibly dangerous stranger as far as husband was aware) kindly yelled back that Yes I was all good. This was not overly re-assuring to concerned husband & as I noticed the torch light moving a little quicker toward us, I quickly re-assured him that all was good and cache was found.
Husband & Anthony has talked on the phone previously but never met so introductions were made and we had a random chat on the side of the road while some young adults had a drunken argument next to us & my girls snored in the back seat of the car beside us.
I very much enjoyed this un-expected FTF and random catch up with another cacher friend after an enjoyable night socialising at the event with other friends new & old. I do love this hobby/sport/game/addiction. Smile
Thanks for an enjoyable find Saint Anthony and Thanks for the cache BallaratGeocachers!
