Logs
A nice find for us today. The log was quite wet and not waterproof paper so we could sign it but it won't last long. There was a scout Adventure week badge here also. TFTC
I let GeohoundandI sign the log whilst I was distracted having a conversation with several bison.
Nice container. The log was very wet and completely blackened with ink so we replaced it with a new piece of paper - didnt have a ziploc handy though so its in danger of becoming wet again
Our lovely kea scout group found it. The log inside is very wet so we couldnt write our name
Another fun find that piqued the interest of the local water buffalo. Great hiding spot!
Being back in the area of Auckland and having some muggle friends with me I opted about for a nice (loooong) walk, and they joined me they seemed a bit exhausted after some hours so off we went to waiheke island to visit some vineyards Well foundTftc
Good little find - the log is very wet so probably needs a replacement some time soon. TFTC
M24: saw something in plain sight, cache was quickly retrieved and signed before a muggle in a car passed by and gave us a wave as we waved back. Nice and easy find, log all good and signed here. TFTC.
There were some very interesting cattle beasts in the paddock just across the fence as we walked to this fence post. All good with the cache here. Thanks.
After 1 find the cache has gone missing. I will craft another to replace it asap.

Fortunately, I walked straight up to this one, although again, it was very cleverly crafted and concealed cache hide. These have been a real pleasure to locate. It is a beautiful day, and we could not have asked for better for our time in this lovely area. TFTC

After attending the Mega I headed out to Duder Regional Park. A lovely spot. It was pretty hot but I enjoyed the 5km circuit I did around the park. A reasonably quick find here. TFTC
we have had plans of coming to Duders and collecting then all hopefully in a day.
Best plans don't always work out.
weather has been very good but to hot to spend hours in, so plan was a few today and tomorrow.
collect what we can before mega.
terrain not the easiest to navigate.
we struggle with some caches and some fairly straight forward.
thanks to the owners for placements.

With Gap (of Fap and Gap)… On a pre-Mega mission… The sun has been quite intense for so long. It was a relief when the skies clouded over and a few spots of rain cooled things considerably. This is perfect for a decent walk - and we know exactly where to go… Duder Regional Park.
We spent some time trying to spot this tricky hide. We were almost on the edge of defeat but saw something that needed investigating. How do we get into that? We scavenged the fence line and found a helpful tool. It was while setting up for the extraction, we found the original cache on the roadway. We signed the log on the current cache and left both almost side by side. Thanks stevecoxnz and TFTC.

Headed into the park today to try and make it my happy place (all smilies), and didn't want to be in the park at level 3.? with many other people from outside my closed bubble...but given it was a Tuesday, there was many people today.....
Casual stroll 12.63km total in 5.22hrs total time including a lunch stop.
Nice hide and cache is nice and dry.
Watched the buffalo heading in for milking I guess.....
TFTC.

Found in the grass next to GZ. Looks to have come loose. Might need a more permanent way of fixing to spot. Shoved back in presumed right spot
Found the well wedged cache and struggled to extract the well wedged log from it TFTC
There were some interesting cattle in the field nearby, looked like bison (lol) of buff-fellows, not sure what breed they were. Soon had the eyes on this wee critter and replaced as found.
We called into the entrance to the park a few weeks ago but had no time to do the walk. A different story today on a 19kms walked day so after Clevedon viewpoint and a wander around Waitawa there was time to head here to do 'a few'. The weather came to play and despite a few gusts it was a glorious hot and sunny visit.
My original aims for today were quite lofty, and not really achievable but one can dream eh? I planned to get the last missing aspect of the Virtually anywhere in Auckland at Waitawa Regional Park, go up to the top of the Clevedon walkway to the lookout to complete the Adv Lab there, do the Duder Regional Park walkways and get 'all' (lol) of the Maraetai caches. Well that was a mission too far and I willingly dialled back the targets as the day progressed. As it was I managed over 20 caches and had a great day so that was awesome. Thanks to all COs for their caches.

On our way along to this cache we came across a lamb that had snuck through the gate to eat the nice grass along this track, but it got a bit panicky when we got close and couldn't get back through, so we opened the gate and helped it. Man, he was real vocal telling all his mates afterwards about the adventure! Thanks!
I was out in the area for the CITO today. Really wonderful park, I spent the majority of the day walking up and down all the different hills to collect caches!
Thanks for all COs who put caches here!
Notes on this cache :
Yep it’s definitely a gate post.

Found this with Em Cee Kiwi. This was a relatively quick find on a lovely day. TFTC
A bit scared to touch the fence as we thought it electric, but good description otherwise. Tricky to find as it’s tiny.
Due to the covid 19 situation I will be disabling all my caches until we no longer have to self isolate. Anyone logging one after this date will have the log deleted. Stay safe.
We searched all round the styrainer post and found nothing. On my hands and knees, head stuck between the wires, nearly got the torch out but nothing. Then suddenly I saw the plastic cache lying in full view on the grass somewhere away from the strainer post. We signed the log and I found a little niche between the main vertical post and the strainer post to take the cache into - hopefully in the right place much according to the hint.
We had a splendid day here exploring Duder park, and thought the T ratings for some caches were lower than they would be in Europe! Thanks to all COs for the great caching experience. Apologies for the generic addendum to the specific log that comes first.

This one was lying on the ground, so after signing we put it in what seemed the right place according to the hint. TFTC
Find number 5989. I wandered along to this one. Surprised at the cattle in the paddock. Water Buffalo?? A family were sitting watching them. Thankfully they were far enough away for me to potter around at GZ (Having a drink, Jacket off, Sign a log). Thank you for the placement.
Found in between some heavy rain showers, but we stayed dry. Pew. That was a tricky hide ! Found for the Mystery in the Museum challenge. Tftc
Found together with Greenkiwikids and signed as team Pyphant. We have been briefed by the detective and found our first cllue. Great! Thanks for the tricky hide. Tftc
