Great Northern escape 2022 Day 102. Bowen to Proserpine. After a relaxed start,I drove down to Proserpine along a section of Bruce Highway that had road works nearly all the way. I managed two of the three I had planned for the trip and then setup camp at Proserpine. I spent the rest of the morning visiting the caches around town and out towards the airport. After lunch I went for the drive to the dam. Tomorrow will be Airlie beach.

I was not able to locate anything on the seat and chose not to look at the bin.

Thanks.

So today, I have left my Townsville Mega week long event, lol, and started my trek home. I still had a few that I wanted to collect on the way and again had no real set plans. I did want to revisit ones I did not find on the way up due to cache blindness or maybe because they were not really there. I grabbed a few and then just before I got to Mackay I realised I had time to do some of those letterboxes off to the west, so I headed out there.

This one I missed on the way up not sure as to why, it was an easy find today, (shakes head).
Thanks for placing it here, a nice place to stop (twice) and refresh. With log signed and cache replaced as found, it was onto the next misfit.

21-Apr-22
It was raining so hard so this was a perfect cache it find, as it was sheltered and I got to sit for a bit. Nice hide.

TFTC. Making our way north for the Townsville Mega. We left Mackay this morning heading for our overnight stop in Bowen. A lovely day for a drive. Along the way we stopped to find the odd cache, we do not have a plan to target any.
Stopped in Proserpine to find a leg of the Adventure Lab - Mackay to Townsville. Decided to attempt a couple of caches before continuing on

Heading north for the Townsville Mega, taking 5 days and finding caches along the way. Thanks to the COs for placing these caches to show us more of your local area.

11-Apr-22
Fun, adventure, travel, history, geology, mental stimulation, social gatherings, support and friendship are just some of the elements of geocaching.

Out and about enjoying the opportunity to grab a few caches, yours being one of those I targeted on my journey today. Thanks ??

Thanks The Flynn Stones (F=437 H=4) for placing this cache and adding to our game.

11-Apr-22
We thought that we were going to have to DNF this one as even with 5 pairs of eyes, we couldn't locate the cache. As we were leaving, GT37 decided to have another cursory glance around and made a quick find. Not sure how that happened but that is caching. Pleased to have a smiley, thank for placing this for us to find.

Day 3 of our Tour de Ville… having overnighted in Mackay we’re heading to Townsville…

Again, TMZ59 is at the wheel of the Habanero Sport, Patrol14 is up front and I’m having to constantly apologise to Imbunda in the back about covering her shirt in my milk…

We’re always on the look out for a cleanskin cache… so this was hard to drive by… and it then took much longer than it should have… it was the eagle eyes of Patrol14 who spotted it… thankfully there really wasn’t anyone around to question our antics…

Tftc… log signed as TDV - TIPP, Tour de Ville… ??

My pic has zero to do with the cache, I just don’t think I’ve ever seen seen a tractor in a car yard…

Today was our 3rd day of our trip to Townsville for the MEGA Event and our group consisted of TMZ59, Patrol14, Peppa and me and as we stayed in Mackay last night we decided to get some of the caches on our to do list to help fill some spaces in our Challenges. Log signed and cache replaced as found. TFTC

3.35pm

Third day of our trip to Townsville for the MEGA and we (Peppa, TMZ59., Imbunda and I) have a list of caches to do along the way. This was one of them for another LGA or special attribute needed for a challenge.

Stopped here to search for this cache without drawing attention to ourselves. After searching around found the cache tucked away. SL then returned as found.

Found on 11 April 2022. TFTC, The Flynn Stones.

We are heading up to the Townsville mega with micaparamedic, Geoturtle37 and Papi4506 chasing as many Adventure Labs that we can along the way.
After grabbing the Mackay one yesterday we headed to Proserpine to camp for the night.

After completing the Proserpine ad lab wpt this morning we were picking up caches on our way to Charters Towers.

We are quite happy that we chose an early departure today as the streets were basically empty and we had no muggles anywhere near gz. This turned out to be a bargain as even with this many eyes and fingers we couldn't locate the cache. (the CO is probably laughing now)
We expanded our search a little but the GPS'rs insisted that we were in the right location and we decided to call it a dnf. As we were leaving Geoturtle37 decided to have one last look and the very obvious cache was in hand immediately. We happily added our names to the log.

To save room in the log we signed as "The Vics"

Thanks The Flynn Stones for the cache.

Nanos certainly aren’t our favourite type of hide, but given it was outside the RSL we are thankful it wasn’t on a field gun! No one about so we were able to relax and make the find.

Today is moving day. Mackay to Proserpine, not a long drive at all. Only shame is that many of the caches are unavailable to us as we travel. There is a lot of road work happening which have cut a number of caches off, and a few of the others are difficult to access when you are towing a caravan. Still, we managed to find a few trads as well as completing an adventure lab, so not a complete waste geo caching wise. We’re thankful we managed to access the few we did, thanks to the CO’s who put them out.

Inevitably on a long trip when many geocaches are being found, some get missed. Unfortunately, at the time, this was one of them. So, although out of chronological order, I am logging them today for simplicity. So my apologies for the generic log and the out of date sequence.

Our trip commenced on Friday November 28th and concluded on Tuesday December 22nd. During that time, we visited caches in Maryborough, Childers, Rockhampton, Yeppoon, Sarina, Mackay, Bowen, Townsville and Cairns, with other places in between like Proserpine, Home Hill, Ayr, Ingham to name just a few, with many wonderful single stop caches along the way.

Our party consisted of myself, hatzofff, grannysmith1947, and on occasion, youngoldfella.

Log signed and cache replaced as found. TFTC, The Flynn Stones.
