No luck for us here. The nearby tree has been chopped down - was that where it was hidden? The sawdust is still fresh on the ground. See photo.
Taybeedragon and I went on a tour of the Coromandel - one of the few places of New Zealand, especially of Te ika a Maui, that I have yet to explore throughly, and from there along the coast to Opotiki to see one of my many, many sisters. From 18 December to 5 January we found over 400 caches, including 12 adventure labs (60 caches), 20 or so TMGTs and a host of virtuals and earthcaches. And I hosted an event to see the sun come up on New Year's day - surprisingly popular given that it was at 5am. We climbed a lot of hills, saw some amazing beaches that were quite popular despite (or because of) the insane access to them, walk a lot of bush, entered and explored 8 gold mines and generally had an awesome time. However I am glad to be back, but now is the hard part, and I fear it will take just as long - logging!

Searched everywhere on numerous occasions with a few sets of eyes and no luck.
I spent the afternoon back in Whitianga clearing out a number of caches in this area. I searched several obvious places before ending up in the right place. TFTC.
Out and about for a few days for a bit of a road trip around the Coromandel area. Day Four of my road trip. I started my travels in Coromandel Town and ended my day in Tairua. I had to bypass this cache a couple of days ago due to muggles at GZ. Today the coast was clear and the coordinates were spot on. Found the cache after a very short search. TFTC, Biggles.
Unexpected long weekend! Off to Coromandel then...Got it by the end of he day as GZ was occupied when I was here first time. Found in not so obvious spot. TFTC
I crossed the river the easy way and found the footpath to the cache. Had a seat to sign the log and then replaced the cache as it was found.
Thanks for placing this cache

Out for a caching bike ride and was glad this park was bikeable. Wanted some quick finds in this heat, so trawled the logs for clues in the shade before heading in ‘there’. Actually think if I’d just started looking I’d have found it quicker! I get stuck in my own head and overthink things sometimes! Thanks for the bendy cache!
Seeing that it was a nice day I decided to do a bit of caching from about midday.
Oooh no hint. Whew! luckily you just need your geosense.
Cheers for the cache.

Find number 5818. All quiet as I made my way and while I was looking and signing the cache. On my way back I passed a young couple and their two dogs. I ended up following them to my next find. Thank you for the placement.
Early morning Caching Mission to see what was up the Coromandal Peninsula, and working our way back from Whitianga down to Whangamata. This way we would leave enough caches to make the cache run worth it, hitting it from the south which would make it an easier day next time.Today I was in the company of HKCB, (logs were generally signed HKCD) and we soon set in putting the world to rights, discussed may sports and enjoyed good music, caches along with fantastic sunshine.Managed a total of 63 caches and only 3DNF's so all in all a pretty good outcome. We set out from home, departing at 3am with a long drive, and big day ahead of us. The good thing at this time is that there are very few other cars to worry about on the winding roads. We eventually made it back home by 4.30pm.
A short walk, a shorter hunt and the cache was in hand, signed and returned
A big thank you to all the cache owners for their diligence in maintaining these caches for the likes of us to enjoy.

Searched all around the obvious spots here and was about to give up. Thought no way would he hide it in there... but a systematic search and the less than random hide was found. xo^8 had had a brief look there but hadn't spotted the cache before moving on. TFTC!!!

Found at 7:21 am while on holiday up north.
After wandering back along the bay, I started heading up this lovely little pathway. Reached the GZ and after a short search, found the cache tucked away in there. Signed the log and returned. All good here. TFTC

A quick find in another lovely spot.

On our 39th day in New Zealand we stayed around Whitianga and it's lovely beaches. Besides enjoying the sea we also looked for some caches.
We came to this nice area and two walking-the-dog-muggles were standing at GZ. So we waited a little in the shade of a tree until they finally left. Shall we really search where their dog just peed? We had no chance and hoped that it was not exactly the location. Soon after we found the box, it was dry... )
TFTC and greetings from Switzerland

Co-ords good even with an iPhone. Cache was a bit embedded in the mud, but after last nights rain it’s no wonder. Merry Christmas to you. TFTC!
A great find that is not entirely straightforward that is very fitting for my 2000th geocaching find As with other cachers, a previous log was very helpful. TFTC
a lovely area and so peaceful, a few options here but followed the gps right to where needed, tftc
After sleeping in Whitianga for the night it was time to explore the area whilst leisurely making our way back to Auckland.
Another one that had me wondering for a few moments where it may be. Read one of the other logs and got a hint so narrowed the search down and soon had the cache in hand. Nicely hidden out of view of the houses nearby.
Thanks for the cache.

With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... Another trek into Coromandel for work purposes, and caching of course...
The air was still and hot, and the stream looked inviting... What a peaceful, reflective spot! We found a broad hint from a previous log, and this one was in hand soon enough. TFTC.

Enjoying a weekend visit to Whitianga and cycling around the area grabbing a few caches. TFTC
Auf einem netten Strandspaziergang entdeckt. Zum Glück gleich an der richtigen Stelle nachgesehen.

Wandered along here from the random cache at the other end. Beautiful place to walk and so peaceful and much cooler in the evening. Thanks for bringing us here.
This spot was even better than the last...took a we bit to locate this one ...but was a great atmosphere so enjoyed finding it ..very typical G2 hide thanks great place..great cache..it will test a few as time moves on lol
A her picturesque spot but I wasn't enjoying the view as this cache proved to be quite elusive. There were a multitude of places it could have been hidden including the dreaded flax bushes. Eventually found very close to where coordinates led me. Thanks for bringing us here G-2
We were staying in Whitianga for a few days up at Wharekaho beach and had a lovely time enjoying our mid winter escape. This was a lovely walk down to where the cache was and we enjoyed the little corner. Took a couple of minutes of hunting around before we spotted it. Thanks so much for the cache!
A lovely walk furthest from my motel so I would never have found it if I hadn't been geocaching, thanks.
A quick find once at gz. Had to wait for mugglers to move on. Greetings from England. Tftc.
Nice and peaceful find. Enjoyed watching the horse training in the paddock over the river. Not a cloud in the sky today. TFTC
185 Todays walk and another 2 caches planned. Have never been to this area before despite walking along the main road multiple times over the years. Quick find despite first impressions. TFTC
I was all about the cache but the kids for whatever reason took straight to the water. They love this kind of water way, estuary's etc. Cheers G-2 TFTC
Started looking at the tree, widened a bit the search and then it was a quick find.
Inner tube keeps it all dry.
Short walk from here to the next one as there is a little bridge

With the annual work fishing trip on this afternoon in Coromandel town, I thought I'd make a full day of it and head over first thing and make it a bit of a caching trip too. So I was out the door about 5.30am, with a general plan to find caches around the Whitianga and Kouatunu areas before heading over to Coromandel Town for the fishing trip.
What a neat little place, was a little worried with all the flax around, but soon found in a likely spot.

Another nice quick find after a stroll along the river from the previous cache. The ground is very boggy in places but we got there without getting too wet! TFTC
Nice wander along the riverbank. Found with bkj97 on a roadtrip to Auckland/Waiheke/Coromandel and back home after celebrating our daughter's 40th birthday. T4TCSL (apologies for any repetitive logs) Thanks to all the COs for giving us some breaks while traveling or an excuse to explore where we were staying.
Nice stroll. Would have been difficult a couple of days later after heavy downpours. One of many found with little blue hen while catching up with family in the coromandel.TFTCSL
Staying in Whitianga to scout out the local caravan parks with a view to coming here to fish, and bringing the caravan eventually. Naturally had to clean up all the new caches that have appeared since our last visit.
You have been busy G--2, but hey, that's good.
Nice stroll beside the almost empty river. Where's all the water? As we approached GZ we thought oh yeah know where it's going to be, but haha we were wrong. Mr S once again scored the prize.
thanks G--2.

The drizzle seems to be holding off for now, which was nice as this was one of the longer short walks today. Arrived at the Bend and soon spotted the likely hiding spot. Sure enough, there was the cache. thanks.
A spectacular Sunday. Glorious weather. No wind.
Enjoyed the visit to this hidden away gem of a spot.
We made a straightforward find on the cache.
Cache in order; log signed, then safely re-hidden, just as found.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too
The Turtle strikes again!

We had a free day so drove up to Whitianga to do some shopping and grab the new caches in the area. Yes it is still in its hiding place and the GPS was good for me today.

While the other half was caching in Picton, this half decided to venture on some caching practice on his own. No problems here. Nice to visit this area again. SL. TFTC.
It was raining and windy so not a fishing day so caching instead and yahoo 4 x 1st to find.
I love this spot
