Him foots a pretty good name for it - weve put a red ban gumboot to match the rest
Couldnt find today. Getting to GZ felt like more of a 2 or 2.5 as I had to slide down a steep bank.
Twig is desperrrrate to get just a few more caches before the mega, and I am always keen to help, so we headed up Whitemans Valley.
I like this tree never seen a tree done quite this way before, so something different = fav. The cache hide itself is a style I have seen before though

Tomorrow after work I will start my journey north to attend the Auckland MEGA, which will be my 5,000th cache if I can engineer my caching before Saturday to make it so. Knowing that the weather forecast for tomorrow is less than favourable, I really wanted to find some caches tonight to release some of the pressure, so the Seagnoid and I headed out to Whitemans Valley to see what we could find.
We stopped at this cache on the way up Blue Mountain Road, which was probably not the best way to do it as the parking is on the 'wrong' side if you do it this way. But I manged to park near enough to GZ and walk over to it. I was hoping for a quick park n grab for my numbers. That's exactly what I got, as the cache was spotted almost immediately and retrieval was a doddle with no muggles around.
Nicely done, and thanks for placing this cache.

Very easy, surprised it was still there! Novel tree. Signed log and replaced where found. TFTC.
(# 5803). A quick find today while in the Silverstream area. An interesting tree. Everything in order. TFTC
Found it! Number 4 for me good little find almost gave up on it. Definitely still there though!!
I scored some cheap flights to Wellington for the weekend! I had a great time exploring and finding caches!! TFTC!
After dinner we set out with Merlot58 to find this cache close to our accomodation. It was almost dark but after a brief search the cache was in hand.
I’m in the Windy City to attend the Wellington Mega with a few fellow Westies from Auckland. We’re having a great time as we explore the area collecting smileys as we go. Thanks for bringing us here, sorry for the copy and paste logs but am using a Cachly template to log as I go.
This cache was only 140m from where we were staying but probably took us 500m to walk to. It was getting dark as we started our search and we knew we were at the right tree but it still took several minutes to find

Find #2831. Cycling from Maymorn to Petone via Whitemans Valley (40 kms), collecting caches along the way. Have done this road before so not many new ones to find. An unusual landmark, I wonder how some of those gummies got there. SL TFTC
We left home with a goal it was to get 46 caches so we could log Skindo 250 caches for February and 46 is what we needed. Went as far as Paraparaumu Friday night got 3 traditionals and 1 wherigo so that was a good start so today we needed 42. This is the 28th cache for the road trip so far. Its a lovely area to have caches but not easy to get to traffic and parking wise. But today was our lucky day it just took a few minutes to locate then signed the log and place it back exactly where we found it. Thank you for placing a cache in this beautifull area. Its always lovely driving through here. Cache was all good here today nice bit of tree art. I thought i knew wbere tbe cache was going go be when i got close to ground zero but no but still a quick find all the same TFTC
Had a chuckle when I saw the feature and of course then made the connection to the cache title - very good! Couldn't find the cache but spied something worth investigating when I had given up and heading back and yeah there was the cache. TFTC # 11,826
Last find of the evening after way too many DNFs on the trip. Could have been so much better. An interesting feature, I parked uphill and walked down and after going too close to the trunk I found as I headed back to the road.
With my current visit to the area winding down into the last few evenings, and still having a car at my disposal, I decided to take advantage of the (unusually) ambient weather to head out and grab a few caches. I did a loop from the back of Upper Hutt along Whitemans Valley and back into Silverstream via Blue Mountain Road. A dirty dozen finds for the evening but quite a lot of DNFs too which I see is the norm with some of those caches on that route. All in all a good side trip and just the thing to log them over a cold beer.
T F T C to all the COs for their placements.

Signed as RE as I'm caching with Ethnz this weekend.
We overthought this one. Turns out it was a deceptively easy find. Thanks.

Parked slightly up the road but the GPS was playing up under the trees so had a quick look around and spotted something in line with the cache name which had to be GZ and so it was!
It was a dot day today so headed up to Whiteman's Valley for some caches. I hadn't noticed the fruit of this tree on previous trips along this road so either I was concentrating on driving, or it's a fairly recent thing. Like GSEL I overthought where the hide could be and ended up in the wrong place. A little adjustment and I soon found it. TFTC
#4019. I was thinking of going over to the Wairarapa this afternoon but with rain in the morning and snow on the hills, it put me off. Anyway the weather improved as the day progressed although it was still bitterly cold. Decided to visit a few Pine Haven caches instead. Heading home now and time for one more cache find right on dusk. What an intriguing tree. I was in my redbands at the time so seemed like a good cache for me to visit. Still took me a few minutes to locate the cache as I overthought the hide and went off trail. Signed and replaced as found. Thanks for the cache. Favourite awarded from a gumboot fan.
I drove right past here just the other day but totally forgot to stop for this cache (I was enjoying the drive). This time I stopped in the obvious place just up the hill a but and walked down. I can't believe I didn't notice this tree while driving past - eyes on the road I guess. Great reason for placing a cache here. I looked in the wrong place first before realizing I was in a place that was inconsisent with the terrain rating. So I started again and found much more quickly. TFTC!
Was out on an impromptu caching trip to tidy up a few caches around Silverstream/Whitemans Valley. Like others, I thought the cache might be in the fallen fruit, but once I checked the terrain rating I backed up a bit and found I was right next to the cache.

Having spotted the tree as I approached. I was expecting to find something else. But it was a quick find none the less. TFTC
An interesting tree, found while on a cycle trip in the area. As a bonus I also found an old Fanta bottle partially concealed in the grass. *TFTC trails trails trails, #9308*
#8405. A gum tree by Blue Mountains Road in Blue Mountains – that figures! GZ was pretty quiet when we visited. Found a gum fruit on the ground. Had thought it might be the cache, but it was not to be. The real one was found shortly afterwards. The cache was in excellent condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.

#504 Quick find on this windy road. Left Salsa Frog TB. TFTC and Happy International Geocaching day!
#2146 Another late night so I decided to find a quick park'n'grab. Been a while since I did one of these.
Love the tree!
Thanks for another night time trails trails trails cache. I have needed a torch for many of the caches by 3xTrails, however yet to see that as an attribute. Maybe one day
The Leprechaun daily streak continues.

Cache # 3,211 - a quick find on a dark and wet morning. Some of the cars driving by must have wondered what the man holding the torch was doing by the side of the road, but willing to bet that would only be a fleeting thought. Smiled at the sight near the cache, and need to come back in the daylight sometime to grab a photo. All well inside. TNLNSL. TFTC!

A nice quick find this morning, I can't believe I have not seen this specimen before - it sure brought a smile to my face.
I've driven past GZ a lot of times and have never spotted this before. A nice quick find and a bit of a giggle at the things people do.

A quick park and grab by a most unusual gum tree - I've not seen this species before. Thanks for placing a cache here. Picked up a TB.
Was originally expecting a gum tree. However a good highlight and a quick find. TFTC
On trip around Whiteman's Valley, but only the cellphone so missed a few with no reception.
This was the first success.

A quick find this afternoon with Tufty while heading up the hill to get a couple of new caches in the forest above Pinehaven. Somebody around here definitely has a twisted sense of humour! Signed log, TFTC
After doing the Cruikshank series my friend and I went for a drive and then a walk up the Blue Mountains.
Cheers for the cache.

Picking up random caches in the valley on a lazy Sunday afternoon semi-expedition.
This was one. An unusual botanical specimen this one. That's for sure. What are the folks around here on?
Made a pretty straightforward find.
All in order, log signed; cache safely re-hidden, just as found.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too
The Turtle strikes again!

{ftf} oh no the dilemma you put me in on a wet no a very wet Saturday morning. A new cache has appeared like magic in my inbox what to do I do want a ftf for April and it is a dot day and Dobby does need a walk. But ohhh my bed is nice and warm I have a cuppa tea and the paper all set for a lie in. I won't bother for the ftf just get it later. Then the little nagging ftf voice starts so ok up we get come on Dobby a walk for us both so off we set not raining much at the moment got there yippee a ftf is in hand and now off home again now it's really pouring haha might as well go for a decent walk then. Home now dry and with a new cuppa and the paper.
Liked the Gum Tree a lot like the one that used to be further up the hill before it lost all its leaves and changed into a pine tree amazing what nature can do with a little help from mankind.
