#13,952. I have been up in Northland on a work trip and now heading back to Auckland. Picking up just a few caches as the weather has packed in and its heavy showers on and off now. Parked close by and soon had the cache in hand. Signed the log and replaced the cache as found. Thanks TWS for hiding it here. Lucky last find of the day as the rain set in after this one.

A quick day-trip to Whangarei with some caching on the way back.

We always remark at the feature at this entrance as we drive by so the location was well known as I passed by today.

Once I’d stopped, I made a guess, which turned out to be spot on.

Cache found, log signed, and returned.

Thanks TheWonderStuff

Heading home from a weekend up north, we stopped to collect this cache. We were able to park very close to go. There were a lot of cars leaving and we waited until the coast was clear before finding the cache in the obvious place. The cache has no lid.

02-Aug-22
Quick and easy, but with way too many spider webs for my liking. Retrieved the cache with the help of my pen and sure enough there is a spider living at the bottom of tin. Signed the log and put it back in its hiding spot, including the little spider.

Ms_KR and I are on a wee break to find some of the Northern PW GeoTour caches. Today we cruiised from Warkworth to Kaitaia. We had some showers, but the day was mostly fine. Still a lovely day for driving and caching.

Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

North Island Campervan trip Day 7

After the fantastic holiday I had a few months ago traveling around the South Island, making the most of one of those incredibly cheap campervan deals available at the time, I figured it was worth taking a week off work before the stresses of the usual holiday period to enjoy some of the delights to be found around the top of the North Island.

This would be a great chance for me to seek out some targeted caches such as the TMGT ones as well as some that would help me with my Jasmer grid, missing minutes (for a couple of challenge caches I'm working on) and any other caches that caught my eye.

Last night I ended up spending the night at the DOC site near Okere Falls, which was nicely quiet and a great place to start my day from. I knew that tonight I would be in Kaiwaka visiting friends there, but today would be a lot of driving to get there so plenty of opportunity for caching. By the time I got to here, the afternoon rush hour traffic out of Auckland was in full swing, so the roads were pretty busy.

However, thanks to the decent sized layby, I was able to park up and walk over to this one without too much fuss. The cache itself only took me a moment to locate and finding no big issues with the cache or the log I quickly added my name to the sheet and then was back on my way again.

Thanks for setting this cache up.

A golf course car park seems like a good place to eat breakfast, and there's a cache nearby too, double bubble. All good here and replaced as found. T F T C TWS again.

After just about a week in the area of Northland it's the day to head back to the airport and return the hire car, and fly back home. There was time for a fe wcaches on the way, both Northland and Auckland, so that was nice. A good weekend away, and some great weather too.

After a weekend in Wellington and catching up with my UK based mother and her cruise trip to NZ, we made the most of being up here on the North Island and added an extra 6 days in Northland to the trip itinerary. We flew up to Auckland on Sunday afternoon and after a faff around with a hire car we took the scenic/dark route up the Helennsville highway to the North. Arrived late on Sunday night and straight to sleep. We had a week with son Ed and his 4 under 3 years old children. Fun time was had and some nice experiences.

The Elder Future Finder and myself are making the trip to my parents, North of Dargaville, collecting a few hides along the way. Traffic was not thick as we were approaching GZ, so, I took the opportunity to park up right next to GZ and attempt our first find of the day. Cache was found in the very first spot I checked. I will note here that the cache is missing it's lid. Otherwise, log was dry. Cheers for the cache placement!

It was a Sunday afternoon and I was starting to get withdrawal symptoms after too much family business and not enough caching, so what do I do now? A quick park and grab on the way home, that's what! Tftc!

Smile

Last cache for the day today, and pulled in here and made the find in exactly the place that I'd put it (and pretty much the same format of hide too) so no problems at all. All good here and thanks for the cache.

Camping in Mangawhai Heads. Kiwi only packed half the gazebo (missing the poles and ropes) so we have no shade. Heading to Warkworth to hopefully buy a replacement. Plan unfortunately aborted due to a serious accident in Dome Valley. Traffic going nowhere fast. About turned and pulled in here to collect our daily cache. At least we managed to get one thing sorted today. TFTC

Time to start heading down the island towards home in Feilding, however I’m stopping if in Rotorua for a night at the holiday home that they have rented for a couple of days.

I set off early and I didn’t want to spend too much time caching prior to Auckland as I wasn’t sure what the traffic was going to be like through the city. However I decided to grab a few on the way.

Found the cache very quickly to find another set of familiar names from my home region had signed the log a couple of days ago.

It’s taken a while to get around to logging these finds on the computer but in December of 2018 I tagged along with Scoria for a trip north of the Bombay’s to get a few out of region caches under my belt, target a couple of D/T gaps and partake in a couple of cooperative caches with cachers that were state side as well. Have set my find date to match Scoria’s since we were there together, apologies for the lateness and generic nature of the log.

Thanks for the cache and the opportunity to flesh out more of my stats

Up in Auckland to complete a previous geocaching commitment and decided to jump the boundary to get a northland cache. Stayed the night in Wellsford so this gave me the opportunity to escape the heat for a while and go for a six am stroll to this cache.

Nice misty morning and and easy locate. Could do with a little maintenance as the log bag is split and the containers lid is no longer attached, but aside from that it is in good condition with a dry log sheet.

Cheers.

Not as quick as o should have been, a bit confused by the hint. TFTC!!!

Northland Day 5: Last day in Northland before heading back to Auckland. Started off on a foggy morning in Whangarei to pick up some of the Onerahi caches, before slowly working my way to town and heading south to Auckland through the Bream Bay Beaches. Lovely weather today, and a great finale to the Northland trip!

The following is the specific log for each cache:
That’s a big ball... what should I do with it? Definitely not stand under it, that is for sure. A nice quick cache, and another standard one along the route, so TFTC!

14-Sep-18
The weather was just right, so I took two days to go up to Waipu to get in some Geocaching. Also, I wanted to make sure all my camping gear was in order for next month's Mega in Wellington.
Golf: that silly game where you wander around looking for your golf ball. Geocaching: that silly game where you wander around looking for a plastic box. You decide. TFTC.

We headed north to the Te Arai Trail this afternoon for the FTFs on the 3 new caches published last night. On the way home we stopped for a few more caches to help us qualify for the last Hidden Creatures souvenir. This was a busy spot this afternoon, with several cars entering in the few minutes we were here. TFTC

12-Jun-18
Quick stop in the light rain, cache lid has come apart but still stashed away from the elements.Tftc
PS : my brother once got a golf ball to the roof of his car here while heading north, left a massive 1/2 golf ball impression smack bang in the middle of his roof.

Today I had some time to spare to go and find a few caches. After finding the new cache at Tinopai, I found a few more caches as I drove back to the main highway and then southwards back towards Auckland. Last cache for me today. Time to concentrate on getting back to the big smoke in time for dinner with some of my kids. TFTC, Biggles.

Swung by this cache on our way to Wellsford to pick up our daughter as we knew we'd be going back over the back roads. This cache was placed not long after I completed all the caches between Warkworth and Wellsford so time to turn it into a smile on the map. Stopped on the north side of the road and walked over. Luckily not too much traffic coming past as yet although there were a couple of guys finishing up the hole nearby. They were just leaving as we found the cache. Thanks The WonderStuff.

With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... On a flying visit to Northland with the intention of finding very old caches and anything else that is within short walking distance of the vehicle. The gloomy, black sky is an indication that rain is only a minute away...

Another quick stop find on the road going north... TFTC.

09-Jul-16
The Squirrel and my plans for the weekend was to log as many old caches as possible to go towards completing another challenge. This meant a lot of kilometres driving and a bit of forward planning and plus collect as many other caches as we could. The plan was to travel to KawaKawa Bay and stay at Hemi's uncles home.
Early start Saturday morning with our goal to get to KawaKawa. Google tells me its 266 Kilometres one way, but with caching who knows how many km's it will be.
Left Rotorua after work on Friday with a stop for dinner (Cambridge Roast House). Next stop Huntly for a coffee and a chat with fellow cachers, then on to KawaKawa Bay. No caches done on this leg.
Early start Saturday morning to achieve our goal.

10.10am - What we did was park right beside cache and grab it. SLTFTC
