Interesting history here. Thanks for the cache hide. The trip bit.Easter geocaching festival of twenty twenty four. This time it is the turn of Oz Mega GeoBash MEGA event in the nation's capital. It is time for a road trip across country to Canberra in the Sporty Pajero Sports. Freddo and Gridge98 traveling from Adelaide via a strange inland route that takes in scenic rural locations, dusty roads, punctured tyres, overheating batteries, various tools of the trade, special campgrounds, and lots scope for many many geocaching finds. Along the way we saw running emus, jumping kangaroos, wandering deer, dead foxes, herds of wooly sheep and stray steers.Arriving in Canberra we met our colleagues e.gregory1, featherwaite, team walron, courtney rose, davidwazza, e_smilie, and georode, signing as ABP, plus a huge group of other like minded excited mega geocachers attending event after event, and more events.Day one. Adelaide to Broken HillDay two. Broken Hill to WellingtonDay three. Wellington to CowraDay four. Cowra to BathurstDay five. Bathurst to CanberraDay six. Canberra to CanberraDay seven. Canberra to QueenbeeyanDay eight. Canberra to AdelaideThe generic bit.I will apologize right now, because everything from here on is here solely for the purpose of padding the word count and winning that one hundred word diamond badge again. Somebody moved the goal posts. So many caches to find. So many caches to log. We find them, sign them and replace them. This particular geocache was found using one of the following GPS enabled devices, Garmin GPSr, Montana 680t, Oregon 650 or Dakota 20 and an Apple iPhone 11 using the marvelous Cachly app. Waypoints and paperless geocaching were downloaded via GSAK 9. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs macro.Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun. Apologies for the generic part of the cache log. We do apologise for the generic logs. Thanks to all the cache owner for placing this cache here for our enjoyment. Thanks for the cache. Merci la cache. Danke fr den Cache. Gracias por el cach. We're on the road to Bathurst on our yearly boy's southern roadtrip. Nice warm and sunny weather, and 33 assorted finds made for a great day out.
364 days and a DNF is avenged - nice. It looks like the grass hasn't been mown in that time either. I copped a nice little thistle-sting during the find too, better than a stinging tree though! TFTC.

With the COVID19 restrictions lifting, we decided to head to the Bathurst area this long weekend on a Geomission with Rapidlywild.

We hit the road early and resisted the urge to stop along way. We decided to attack the TRLT trail and others around the area. We had a great four days, only a few DNF’s but mostly smiley's, and have left plenty for another adventure.
Lovely area to cache in and we look forward to coming back for some more fun and laughs.

Thanks for the hide Joshwa27 and thanks Rapidlywild for another great weekend away.

With COVID19 locking everyone down for so long, a MUCH overdue geocaching mission was welcomed. FurfacesLL #1 and myself decided to head towards Bathurst and attack some of the TRLT caches and see how far we can go. Spoke to a few of the CO's prior to heading up to see if we could assist with any maintenance that was required, so we went prepared with some camo containers and some fresh log books. We had a wonderful weekend stretching the legs and enjoying the country side.

And another "History Of..." cache solved and collected Big Grin Signed and replaced.

Thanks for the hide Joshwa27 Big Grin And thanks to the FFLL ladies for another fun weekend out and about the TRLT trails and others Big Grin

Greetings from DARKSIDEDAN.

This weekend I went on a caching trip and managed to get about 165 caches for the weekend. Your cache was one of the 165 caches that I signed CGG19 as part of our group signature for the five geocachers in our group. We saw loads of wildlife on our trip including 6 Wombats and loads of Roos. This was a fantastic series of caches. I cant wait to get back out and finish the rest of this series off. Thanks to the CO for the fun weekend.

Here is a little about me. At the time of this “Found It” log I have over 6750 finds and 350 Hides. I was the creator of the “Ducky Dip” Lab Cache that won 2nd Prize in the State Vs State Battle of the Labs during the OzGeoMuster – The Gong 2019. I am the owner of the largest GeoArt Series in the ACT and winner of countless Geocaching Prizes. I have got 200 plus caches in one day and I have also got 12 cache types in a day.

There is nothing that I love more than being out geocaching. I will geocache anytime, anywhere, with anyone.

I have included one of the Geocaching poems that I have written. I hope that anyone reading it likes it

Geocache Poem
By DARKSIDEDAN

My endless search goes on and on
Looking for treasures of every kind
Always chasing just one more find
Putting past DNF’s out of my mind
I step out into the world outside,
Seeking what is hidden from me
What size, shape or form will it be?
Only time will tell, I can’t wait to see
Will I find my prize at the end?
I will search in the failing light and cold
Filling with despair having looked everywhere
Where is this thing that gives my life pleasure?
Looking all around from every angle
I read the logs and check the hint
I curse out loud as I walk in circles
Screaming the bloody thing it not there
As time flies by and I fail to see,
Never once stopping to realize
It always been there before my eyes
No need for sorrow, there’s the Geocache.

* * * * I am currently writing very detailed logs because of a challenge provided by Project-GC called "The Author". This Badge challenges geocachers to write logs with an average one hundred words or more in each log. As of the 20th of April 2019 my average is 110 words per log, which seems close to the 200 words per log target. However given that I have found so many GC caches, I have to write many logs with well over 200 words for a long period of time to get my average up. Apologies to anyone who finds the logs tedious but it is the only way that I can strive to attain this challenge. After more than 5500 aches (which includes all cache finds up and including today I am now entertaining the possibility that I might be able to achieve my task very soon. Progress has been better than anticipated. * * * * *

A plan was hatched, for a group of Canberra (and one Goulburn) Geocachers to stay overnight in Bathurst on a Saturday night and cache our way there and back - mainly doing some of The Road Less Travelled series, and anything else interesting that we were near. So, on Friday afternoon All7 and I met up with Cosmonaut97, who drove us out to Goulburn where we stayed the night with MinnieK (thanks for the hospitality), and then DarkSideDan arrived in the morning and we crammed all our gear into the back of the Cosmonaut Geomobile, all 5 of us climbed in, and we embarked upon our adventure - and what a fun weekend we had! Lots of laughs, some interesting terrain to drive through, and a whole lot of cache finds - so, sorry - most of these logs will be rather generic ... (and also rather late, because I am only just catching up with all the logging now - oops)
Logs were signed as CGG19 by at least a couple of people, or possibly CGC19 by me, because that is what I have written in my notebook (except for the first one I signed, which I think I signed GGC19) ... so I guess our group name was Canberra Goulburn Geocachers, or Canberra Goulburn Cachers, or whatever else anyone else signed - lol)
TFTC - I didn't write draft logs for any of these, because it was too difficult to keep up with that as we went ... and with all the caches we found this weekend - in most cases I don't remember which bit of fun was which particular cache. I did write a few words in my note book for some of them, so I will include those below if I did.
(Unfortunately, if I don't just copy and paste the same log for all these, and try to go through my photos or something, or read the listing and get creative, to figure out different things to write, I will never be able to catch up with my logging, and I don't like being behind).

Another one I am glad someone in the group pre solved so we could find it while we were here ... I am having fun exploring this area I had never been to until this caching trip here (I had been to Bathurst a couple of times in the past, but I doubt I ever came this way).

This cache was find #97 of day 1 of our epic geocaching adventure weekend. I had the pleasure of spending time with Darksidedan, ALL7, minniek and AyKayEm. There was four wheel driving involved (it had rained recently), there were some wrong turns (so my reversing skills got a workout) and then there was the general 'we have to get as many caches as possible before finishing each day' mantra going through our heads. Thank you to the COs who have taken the time to initiate this 'road' and to maintain all of the caches. TFTC.

03-Aug-19
Out caching with Cosmonaut97, ALL7, DARKSIDEDAN & Aykayem with an aim to do as many as we could on TRLT series. Signed logs as CGG19 to save space (Canberra Goulburn Group 2019).

Had a long and tiring day finding everything on our list for the day. Thank you to all CO's for their efforts in placing and maintaining the caches for others to find.

With this being presolved it was an easy find here today.

Hatzofff and I are in Bathurst for a few weeks house sitting, and of course have time for lots of caching.

Today we journey around TRLT caches from Taralga south, picking up others on the way.

Solved last night in anticipation of today's find. We did find the container lid, marked out in typical Joshwa style. A pig or wombat or similar has been digging around and our guess ies that that is how the cache has gone.

So we put the lid in a plastic bag with another smaller container holding the log sheet. It is now at the back of the tree under some heavy camouflage.

Log signed and replaced on June 12, 2019 at 12:03 PM. TFTC, *JOSHWA27*.

Out with RoddyC while house sitting in Bathurst.
Caching to day will take us to Oberon area.

Looks like animals have had a play with this one. Restored and returned for next finder.

Wow, my third 'History of ...' cache in a row while heading from Lithgow to Portland today via the back roads. A pretty quick find on this one once my phone's GPS decided which side of the fence I should go ... after that, no problems.

Thanks for another in this series that has taken me to a lot of interesting places.

Ticking off a few easy “History of…” puzzles as we completed the southern end of TRLT series. Helps to understand more about the countryside we would experience over our three day roadtrip and added to the tally of almost 200 smilies.

3 girls (Mizmaz, StumbleTrip and myself), a car, a gps and a sense of adventure resulted in 198 caches over 3 days. And, of course, we decided to go on our adventure on the coldest weekend in 110 years. Razz
Sorry for the generic log, however most of the caches we found were in good condition and were quick, easy finds. Thank you for placing these caches in such a beautiful and interesting area.

Another big day out with Caching Wench Number 1 starting with an early departure from Canberra, with perfect weather for our ramble along those country roads for many many finds. We found all the caches to be good sized containers and nice hides. Next find of the day. Another nice Ho puzzle crossed off. Quick find at GZ. Signed the log, returned the cache, and we headed off to the next one.

Thanks Joshwa27 !!

A last minute plan saw Fitzy_1965 and I heading off to make another attack on the TRLT series and whatever other caches we could nab on the way Big Grin Lots of laughs and perfect weather made for an all round enjoyable day cruising around the countryside caching with over a 100+ caches in the bag! Cool

Another HO solved so we swung by to make the nab. Wad to wait out a couple of muggles going for a stroll past, so once gone, we went in for the nab. A very vocal cow was loudly bellowing across the road as I was signing the log!

Thanks for the puzzle & hide, Joshwa27 Big GrinCool Founds heaps of these puzzles so far!

After much deliberation and comparing of diaries, The Rats, Steeba and I eventually found a weekend that we could all commit to completing the lower (Southern) half of 'The Road Less Traveled' Series, along with some caching in Bathurst (which was actually the scene of our first combined geocaching trip nine years ago!). A last minute trip overseas for me cropped up; but I arranged it so that I could fly home just in time to not miss out on this caching extravaganza.

Friday night we headed to Abercrombie River via Goulburn (from Wollongong), and camped at the campsite there. Saturday saw us drive the lower (Southern) half of 'The Road Less Traveled' Series, ending up in Bathurst right on dinner time. We then found some local caches before staying at a friend's house for the night. On Sunday we headed back out to Oberon for some more caches and then did a couple of loops around Bathurst. We had originally planned to stay Sunday night, but once we clicked over 300 finds for the weekend the inspiration started to wane, and we all agreed to turn our heads for home.

Cheers

Nothing beats a "road trip". My find count had been suffering from the "rest of life" getting in the way of caching so along with Steeba and Hoojar a plan was hatched to go "beyond the Great Divide". The 2nd half of the TRLT looked to be the obvious solution. Under perfect skies and with gps loaded we hit the dirt roads.

Our first full day of caching had us weaving our way along the TRLT to a point where we completed the lower section of the series in one day. This half is contrastingly different to the other, but still very spectacular. Thanks to all the CO’s of the caches we found along the way. Apologises for the template style log but with 300 finds for the weekend each container begins to look the same.

TFTC Wink

The Rats, Hoojar and myself made for the wider Bathurst area for a weekend finding some of TRLT series of caches.

The whole area was quite green and recent rains had meant the grass had exploded everywhere and was 3 or 4 foot high around many of the caches.

Not only did we find plenty of TRLT, there were many 'History of' caches found amongst others. Thanks to all the hiders. TFTC!

This was fairly easy to find. There were a number of cyclists out front having a break from their journey. I said hi and they returned the nicety. They were not too fussed with what I was doing. TFTC. Pity about the other caches in Tarana. Guess I'll be back again. The vanilla slice from the cafe is worth the trip, and the fish and chips from the pub was also quite nice.

With a fistful of solved puzzles it was off on a History trail with rogerw3 ...

We had NickoHeap driving for us today. He's on his L-Plates, so it was a good opportunity for him to drive on country roads. However, we were a little slow getting to this cache from the last, so that by the time we pulled up we found Canary already in conversation with Code1 who had very considerately found the cache for us. Canary had already signed for us so I touched the plastic of the cache just to show my worthiness before Code1 returned it to its hiding place. Thanks
