One of 20 caches located today, mostly in the Loburn vicinity and north of there. Quick find in a very pleasant countryside setting. #4469. TFTC.
I love being drawn to these quiet country spots I wouldn't normally be. And a clever cache too! Although the coast was clear when I parked, a farmer was looking and wondering in my direction on return. A wave and smile were returned so no drama.
Thanks very much!
Thanks very much!
Down in Christchurch with the Squirrel, ABCDF4 and eyespyben. During Covid lockdown, we solved a load of puzzles and decided that this would be a good time to visit. We've enjoyed a few days of good weather and seeing the Canterbury countryside. The caches have been in varying states - some good, some not so much. Our time here has been a blast, and we'd like to thank all COs who have made this adventure possible. Thank you and TFTC.
With ABCDF4, eyespyben, and Gap (of Fap and Gap). Logging all finds as Team HRP (Huntly, Rotorua, Papamoa - Our hometowns)... During Covid-19 lockdown, we solved a truck load of puzzles around Christchurch - Canterbury region. No use thrashing the old grey matter for no cause - We decided we should make good on this handiwork...
There are lots of interesting trails and geoart surrounding Christchurch. What you aren’t told is how far flung some of these caches actually are. Some beforehand advice would have been great, so here are some of my notes... You’re welcome!
1. Mobile coverage is patchy, especially in those quiet, rural areas where it was most needed. Saving caches to offline might show that you are prepared and organised...
2. There are many dusty metal roads on the trails. The car will get messy, and your hair will feel like cardboard at the end of the day...
3. Suitable clothing and footwear are essential. You will climb in and out of hedges, gorse, and other rough stuff. You might get scratched, cut to shreds, and bleed a lot. It’s not advised to wear your brand new jacket on the day...
4. Take lots of food and drink. You’ll probably be head down, tail up and not realise you haven’t eaten until late afternoon. There are very few shops or gas stations out there...
5. Make sure that you secure keys and wallet and know where these are placed for easy retrieval. A full box of pens might be useful too, especially if you’re inclined to free some into the wild...
6. Know the difference between left and right, and north, south, east, and west. Turning right and heading north will not get you to South Christchurch quickly.
7. Look with girl’s eyes rather than boys eyes... Some caches haven’t been found in a while and you might have to get down on your knees to pray.
8. Always be prepared for misleading hints. This is what turns simple caches into D5/T5 hides... “Head height” could mean the cache is positioned at your toes.
9. Have a sense of humour and like the people you go caching with. It’s going to be a very long day, and you might want to hurt someone during the journey...
10. Make sure you can operate your phone/device and it doesn’t crash when you most need it...
11. Learn to cut and paste logs because you’re going to repeat this function so often when logging all of your finds.
12. Above all else, have fun and be kind...
If recent days have been anything to go by, then today's activity is going to seem crazy. We have such a big game to play, spread out over a very large area - An early morning start in the north, with a late finish on the trails to the south... Let's go! A pleasant location and good cache. No problems with this hide. Thanks Wombles B.J&T and TFTC.

After puzzle solving in the Canterbury region along with EyeSpyBen we were invited to join Fap (from Fap & Gap) and Squirrel Nutcase to a week long caching adventure in the Canterbury area. With flights and accommodation booked were off, all met up in ChCh. and many hard dusty Kms travelled and many caches found, I think the Squirrel has said it all in his brief. Many thanks for the placements and Cos for bringin us to the very pleasant areas we travelled in to your region

The Cache is still the same but with a new Screw on Container that should keep the Log Book dry.
Out and about Canterbury today, hitting the Horse Caches for most the the day then a few more uo the back - Many Thanks Bitsprayer
Out doing some caching this morning as the weather is going to turn bad wet and cold nice quick find here cache all good thank you for placing a cache here very close to where we are staying.tftc very cool cache not what I was expecting gets a favorite from us.
Very clever hide and the clue is perfect. I loved this one. Signed the log as Girl Power which is made up of busy paws, coconuts3, Jude_E and lytteltonwitch. Thanks for this cache Wombles B.J&T
Girlpower quartet found this near the start of the day's adventures. A good example for coconut3 to see the diversity of cache types. By the way the log is full. Thanks for the cache.
A quick find by the Girl Power team of Busy Paws, Coconuts3, Jude_E and lytteltonwitch. Great little cache.
We were in Christchurch for a few days to help one of my sisters celebrate a significant birthday. With the celebrations over we were heading for home with the plan of finding a few caches along the way.
Neither of us have been along this road before, so it was great to be able to have a bit of time to explore the area courtesy of the cache owners who have placed caches that enable us to stop and have a look around.
We were running out of time for caching today so we made the decision to only find a few more. I am pleased that this is one that we made the time to find as it is well done.
Thank you for placing the cache and of course thank you for the smilie.

Today I had spare time between work commitments so headed north of the city to see what I could find. Ah ha! Nice one. Spotted the likely hide on approach and there it was. TFTC, Biggles.
The Seagnoid, Toby, Zara and I are on a mission to find the elusive Turtle in Christchurch. We leave Zara in Sefton, while The Seagnoid, Toby and I start exploring between the Kowai and Ashley rivers. The elusive Turtle has been located and Gracies nursery visited, so lets see what else is around here.
Oh The Seagnoid soooo wanted this to be a tree climb. But no, I snag it while on terra firma. while TS is looking down and around. Cheers

Taybeedragon, Zara, Toby and I came down this way as we heard the world turtle was hanging out somewhere near the nursery. It was too, we caught a glimpse of it back there, through the trees. So the mission for this weekend is done. But now that we are here, we carried on exploring the entire area between the Kowai and Ashley rivers.
This is quite climbable tree. And when ever I see a climbable tree I look up. I love tree climbing caches. Alas not to be. The dragon made the find, mainly because she was not looking up.

Grabbing a few last caches as we head back to our warm accommodation after a fab weekend chasing the geo art trails.

The 3rd and last day of our Easter raid East and were out collecting some points for the Planetary Pursuit.
Well, firstly - Thankyou for not burning it! Because you are right, this is the perfect location for it. A nice quick find as we had a good idea of what to look for - even if you did try to trick us with where. We made it to Neptune but its still a long way to Pluto but this puts us a little bit closer so double Thanks for the cache

Found this fantastic specimen of a cache today. The lid was up so half the log was wet. Took me several tries to get the lid to stay on after I had signed the log so I suspect it is likely to pop up again in the interim. A very well constructed cache thanks Wombles. TFTC # 12,08
We have found the Container and have put it back where it belongs..Please put it back in firmly.
Thank you Wombles Barbara.Jessie ^..^ & Terry

Hmm, not quite sure. We found the hiding object (or at least what we believe it is as nature does not use nylon) and an empty small container on the ground. So placed some paper into this micro and returned close to the hint object. Hope this is ok, but the owner may want to check this cache. TFTC
Found with BDP82 on a night caching adventure. Log was lying on the ground. Back in place now. Thank you for the cache.
Visiting from Brisbane with Slow Puncture for the Oamaru Geofest, and we're seeing all the wonderful sights the South Island has to offer as we travel along. Day 5: An early start as we ventured out of Christchurch in a big loop hunting challenges, solved GeoArt, and older caches. We were stunned by the beautiful views of the Alps across the farmland of Canterbury Plains.
We loved this one. Found quickly but it blends in perfectly. FP for the effort, and pure relief of finding not another sistema or mint tin .
Thanks for the hunt **Wombles B.J&T**, this find makes #4405. Discover our TB

Tuesday. Slow Puncture has teamed up with Orange Crew to make a Moreton Bay assault on the Oamaru Geofest. Day Five saw us take a large loop out from Christchurch, West towards the snow-capped mountains, before returning and doing some urban caching within Christchurch itself.
This was the 26th of 71 caches found on today's trip.
Thanks ***Wombles B.J&T***, for showing us this place.

We set up the slow cooker and went out for a few hours of caching! Great use of time, and although it did start raining at one point, it stopped before I got out of the car. We had a great time! TFTC!!
Out on a Mad Monday Mission with my wingman Team_Gaters. We headed out armed (or footed) with gumboots. That was a good call as the ground was soggy everywhere we went. We ended up going to Amberley, Back of Ashley and Loburn and home through Rangers. We even had the pleasure of watching an old school prefab negotiate a roundabout in Rangers! Incredible. The evening was mild, caches plenty and fun abounded. Good times.
Nice work on the cache lid. Fav.
Thanks for the cache Wombles B.J&T.

Had been here several times before without success and armed with some extra information had the crafty cache to hand pretty quickly this time. Another great cache from B and T Thanks.
Could have taken a long time to find. Luckily I spotted it straight away. TFTC (3209)
A lovely day for a drive to North Canterbury with Karma Reprint and Lorok. Cones indeed and a nice bumpy parking spot. Cheers
A quick find after we turned around to escape! Cheers.
Found with Kiwi Moose and Lorok on a lovely warm winters day. We'd planned a half day mission up and around Rangiora before attending the event, then work got cancelled, so we made it a full day! Sweet!
Had a great day, and found plenty to keep us busy.
Thanks to the CO's for the hides. Cheers.

Cache for the day time.
I'd been too exhausted to grab one on the way home from work, and needed a nap then, so I decided instead to grab one after going off to the local youth group where I'd been invited to talk.
So after talking to them, picked this spot as my next target area to clear out given I've sorted pretty much all the horses now!
It was a pretty easy find here luckily though took a while for the logsheet to come out!!

TFTC. Out and about on an adventure with YorkshireP, RogoWiz and RogoBaby. We had two target caches today and this fitted nicely between them, it also had a good number of favourite points.
The country around here is beautiful and well worth a drive around.
RogoWiz located one item of interest as the rest of us located many, many more.
A favourite point from me.
Thanks Wombles B, J&T for placing the cache.

Five hunters on a road with a name looking for a cache with the name thinking we sought the thing with the name. Not many of the orange variety plentiful in Christchurch out here.
Soon enough I had a log to sign for everyone while the rest collected the things with the name. An adequate sufficiency was collected. We regrouped in the cars aiming for more of those cache things with different names nearby.
Thanks Wombles, B.J&T for a really nice cache. Loved the location and the cache container.

We enjoyed finding this. Was a quick stop and found by Crood L easily. All kids impressed by design. Glad it didn't become firewood. Tftc
Yay a day that I have no work or errands. It also happens to be a dash day. So I headed out to Loburn. I love the cache container, cleverly crafted.
Had a small window to have a look for this on my way home before heading south to support a friend doing the Alps to Ocean non-stop running. The clever cache was too good for me today. I will return....
After attending ANZAC service I jumped on my road bike and headed for the Cone on Cones. Woah, the skinny bike tyres sure didn't like that steepish gravel hill! [xx(] But, I made it without falling off.[^] Nice camo I had to turn the cone around a few times before I spotted where the log was. [B)] Thanks for the cache.
#12318. Good combination of cache name and cache hide. We had a feeling we knew what to look for at GZ, and it didn't take long to spot the item of interest. TFTC.
Another gorgeous autumn day just asking for a caching expedition so we headed north of the Ashley to turn some green icons into smiles, travelling as far north as White Rock. It's been a while since we were last in the area and I'm pretty sure I've not been to White Rock before so had an enjoyable time exploring these North Canterbury roads. Thanks to the COs for their cache placements.
I dropped StreetWalker off and carried on to find a turn around point. By the time I returned and parked the car, SW had found the cache and signed the log book. Thank goodness you didn't burn it! TFTC.

Took the boys out for an afternoons adventure with the lure of a Cache or two and a playground.
After making the End of the Rail find I told the boys about this Cache. That we were heading to Cones Road and that the Cache title was Cone on Cones....and what did they think we'd be looking for?.....they both clicked to a cone on Cones Road, but ahhhhhhh the cones they came up with - they were quite inventive....
A road Cone....an ice cream cone.....a Cone (road) on the street sign.....and wee wee dude the funniest....
WWD "what's that teachers name again? At school. Hmmm. I know. Ms Cone! She's a teacher at school".
TG "Um. Mate, so you rechon Ms Cone is going to be standing up here holding the Cache?".
WWD "Hah. Yeah. That's be funny".
With this array of mind boggling ideas we drove up the road and I parked near gz......boys were a little disappointed, but not surprised, that Ms Cone wasn't standing there holding the Cache!
Quick find and sign. Nice one. Boy's played " boo" with the nearby attentive but skittery sheep...most funny. Cheers!

FTF ! 9.45am. Saw this come out last night- and it was still unclaimed when I was heading to Christchurch this morning- so I figured a detour was called for. Fairly quickly found - but then I remembered about the tweezers and had to trot back to the car to get them. You definitely need them. Nicely done- thanks Wombles. A fav from me
Knew what we were looking for but it still had us bluffed for a while. Well made. Deserves a favourite from us. TFTC
Cunning title and it looks as though the old Mafia were the first finders!!! Out and about putting cousin in touch with cousin so a good little walk up the hill. Last one of these I saw was in a McLeans Island facility. Nicely done.
