Read the logs on the way which turned out to be an easy find not sure about the hint as its very wrong to where it is hereWith Nettieknows on a trip to the west coast of Tasmania to attend and run the Zeehan parkrun. We made a small trip out of it exploring the area with Strahan, Zeehan and Trial Harbour on the cards. A few finds along the way. Thanks for the cache

Very unwell today I thought this might be the only cache for us in Trial Harbour. Took a while to find as nowhere near the pulley. TFTC

12-Dec-23
took awhile to work out where GZ was as it seemed to be in someone's yard. When we was able to load cache correctly and read things properly we soon realised we was allowed to enter and cache was quickly found. we enjoyed a quick look around.Cache in excellent dry condition

We are always a bit apprehensive of caches on private property. What would the neighbours be thinking? I guess they are used to it, and it makes maintenance easy lol. It took a few attempts to find this one, tin and log in good nick. TFTC smithy-128.Day 9 of our Aussie trip and today we are going from Strahan to Moina, our base for Cradle Mountain. We stopped at a couple of small towns on the way through, but the wee gem for us was Trial Harbour, which is a pretty spot, was warm and sunny today and had some great birdlife.Another good day exploring what this cool state has to offer.

19-Oct-23
Located with Ricardinho RNZ does not like fossicking on private property & this one took a little longer to find than we would have liked! Perservance paid ofc though. A beautiful wee detour, I loved Trial Harbour Day 9 of our Tassie/Sydney trip and we are making our way to Moina from Strahan. A beautiful drive through the rain forest to Cradle Mountain, with the highlight being a side trip to Trial Harbour. The birdlife here was epic!!! Another awesome day exploring Tassie TFTC

This was a peri nice and interesting cache. I really liked the garden and the history. The hint threw me off as it wasn't in the first and only place to look. Lucky the CO's friendly grandmother came out to encourage further lifting and the cache was immediately found in the very next spot. Favourite from me for the garden and the whole area. Thanks smithy-128

Found it after the home owner encouraged us to lift up more than the pully. What an amazing spot and how fantastic people letting you on their property. Thanks for this super interesting spot!

I was having difficulty finding the cache when I looked up at the homeowners to my left we’re watching me ! Turns out they are smithy-128 ‘s grandparents !!! Grandma came down to help me, ( I’m a grandfather), find the cache. We had a short talk since the rest of my party were in the car and ready to leave ! I told her, ‘Mahalo,’ for her help.
smithy-128, you lucky to have such nice grandparents !

Went looking for this cache while exploring the west coast area of Tassie for a week.
Unfortunately the history room is now closed and the area where the cache should be is private property.
Due to that and a couple of recent DNF we elected to give this one a miss.
We did however enjoy our visit to Trial Harbour.

08-Aug-22
Looked in all the obvious locations with out success. I'll come back another day and try again.

14-Feb-22
Found in the company of ToolboxTas on our lap around the state trip.
We thought we would grab this cache whilst we were in Trial Harbour before driving down the beach to the Henty River.
My GPSr wasn’t playing properly so couldn’t read any logs. Toolbox spotted the door open so we stayed away hoping the residence didn’t have a shotgun…..
Got there eventually.
Thanks for the cache!

Hello smithy-128 thank you for the cache

After looking around and under the pulley block EeePees picked up a roller and found your cache under that.
Although the signs to the history rooms said it was open it sure didn't look open, and not surprised at this time of day.

Found on Friday, 22 October 2021 at 0758

Found during a long weekend away with EeePees

Our last day in the west and north west after a lovely four day mini break. Today we are exploring Zeehan and Trial Harbour and Queenstown before heading back along the Lyle to Hobart.

Wow Trial Harbour is very beautiful and idealic, rugged and windswept.

Very pleasant gardens, cache quickly located. TFTC

Out and about caching with whitewebbs on a lovely summers day and found your cache along the way. This took some time, but got there in the end, hint did not help.

Cache and contents were in good condition.

Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

Out and about caching with Tassie Trekkers on the West Coast of Tasmania and this was one we found. It seemed strange to be wandering on private property but it seems from previous logs the owners are aware of it. The hint should be updated as it has nothing to do with a pulley. We found it under a bell shaped object near a green bush. TFTC

After trying to be stealthy and not disturb anything. A lovely lady (the owner of the property)asked us if we were geocaching. While not telling us exactly where to look, helped to direct in the absence of network service. Great location and people. TFTC TNLN SL

Great lil shack community. Wonderful terrain. With help of the property owner, we finally found this cache. SL & cheers.

Not near pulley. Hollow inside. Don't like touching exhibits but necessary here. Not a rock. Going to be a big cycle back up that hill, glad we left our gear at Zeehan & came on a day cycle

Went exploring around the Zeehan area today. We had heard nice things about Trial Harbour and with five caches, we were there! This one had us perplexed for a while as what we thought was the hint feature had no cache. After reading previous logs we decided to look at another part of the exhibit and we soon had the cache in hand. Nicely hidden. TFTC and a beautiful garden.

27-Apr-19
Searched near the pull, and on the nother side as suggested but to no avail.

26-Feb-19
Found on the opposite side to where the hint indicates. Nice place to camp, one of the best on the west coast! Make sure to ask at the museum about the "singing rock" with ancient significant aboriginal markings.

14-Feb-19
What a special place! Feels like driving to the end of the world and then there is Trial Harbour. It was a windy day with showers but I’m sure it will be a great place on summer days. I liked the garden. Thank you for this cache from Holland

Travelling around Tassie for a couple of weeks with MizzJane.
Finding some caches as we go.
This was one of them.

With the hint not revealing the cache, a bit more of search was made until the cache was found and the log book was duly signed.

Tassie Trip Day 39 - It is time for another day out in the country side from Queenstown it is lots of trips as the density is very low for caches so we went to Zeehan today with and couple of detours to cover some of those more remote caches so Trial Harbour and a really lonly cache that is on the other side of the river from Corinnia just to collect another smilie.

We arrived at Trial Harbour and needed a toilet stop arrived near this cache so after deciding to go for it whilst others used the toilet we ventured onto the property and was soon greeted by the owner and promptly to the owne what we were doing here as expected they new all about it being her and after searching and reading the clue that had a little bit of a missleading descriptor we soon found the cache and was again on our way.

Thanks smithy-128 for placing this cache for us to find here.

Hi there smithy-128.

We found your cache **"Peri"** at 2:43:00 PM today. (This makes our grand total 18935).

We are camped at Zeehan for a couple of nights, before heading down to Queenstown. Today we decided to cache our way down to Trial Harbour to check out coastline. We thoroughly enjoyed the drive - steep and winding roads are much easier without the caravan - and ended up finding a variety of container types, and sizes on our journey. Our find count for the day was 4 caches, with 1 DNF's. SmileBig Grin

Thanks for placing the cache here. Without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our travels.

**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found this cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking. Wink
**Cache Condition:** Just another mint tin cache. Twisted
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** A Smiley Badge.

PS: It's a capstan not a pulley.

Thanks for the hunt today,

Regards

Ian & Penny.

#10 find on a day's outing from Strahan to Trial Harbour seeing how many caches we can find. We had found nearby caches and thought why not! Took a little longer than it should have as it is no longer under the pulley, but using geosense and a sharp eye for detail it is possible to find this cache quite quickly. After finding cache we continued up and had a wonderful discussion with COs Mum who set us on the right track for the Zig Zag cache. Thanks for placing this cache for us to enjoy. Will awzrd a fave.

Well up to date on my logs for once, well so I was thinking it turns out I have missed a few along the way going back months Sad

So a quick generic log to mark my find, I more than likley found this while out caching with gooseandegg on one of our many caching trips.

Thanks for the cache and sorry about the poor and late log.

The best caches I have found so far by type are:-

I see the sea. I touched it too! This is my first time to Trial Harbour so I'm a little excited to discover this little piece of paradise, especially on a hot summers day. We're touring around with Tazscout and stainless steel rat and parked right near this cache. It took a few minutes to find as we were not sure whether to pick things up or not. Wish we had more time to have a look in the history room but we had a big day planned. Thanks smithy-128

Nice collection! Once again for some strange reason our GPSr’s took ages to settle and kept sending us in different directions. Finally we saw something that looked like a likely place! Yeah we found it! What an interesting little area and thanks for bringing us here!

A fascinating collection of objects awaited our discovery here. In fact the cache when found was, well "ordinary" in comparison to some of it's surrounding objects. Not often you can say that! Utilised the table with the view for log signing as it seemed appropriate & then checked out more fascinating stuff within. Things have changed just a little since our last visit to Trial Harbour in the mid-80's. TFTC.

Today we decided to head to the West Coast. As there was an easterly weather system over Tasmania, the West Coast was fine and sunny with very little or no breeze - a magic day in the west. When we drove into Trial Harbour the sea was very flat with only waves breaking on the shore. We cannot recall such calm conditions for any of our previous visits to the western coastline of Tasmania.

We followed our GPS to GZ and after a short search, we located the cache among some very interesting items from previous years. We particularly enjoyed looking at the variety of rock samples. The cache and contents were in good condition. After signing the log and replacing the cache, we headed towards the museum but it appeared that no-one was around. We felt uncomfortable about trying to enter the museum in a private residence without making contact with someone. So, we will have to return another day. The exhibits outside took our interest and we would like to see what is on display indoors. Thanks smithy-128 for another cache in a very interesting location.

Wasn't sure what to expect as long time since placing the cache along the camping area.
This turned out to be one of the best caching days ever...one I'll remember for a long time.
Rocked up to gz summing up the likely hide when an elderly gentleman.....well my age anyhow......asked what I was up to...so explained....them when I found the cache his eyes lit up....as it turned out I had met Mr Smith...your dad. Had a great yarn after a quick look around the museum....awesome place with so much history. I just didn't have the time to have a better look so will definitely come back....your dad invited me back for a cuppa next time. What an absolute delight to have met and is what makes geocaching so rewarding. Many thanks for placing a cache in such a great place Smithy-128.
Also lovely to see an empty log book after such a long abscence from caching....so will claim a ftf. Cheets sirius.
