After using Longreach as a base for a few days, we headed east this morning to get to Emerald by the end of the day. Of, course we cached along the way. This is one of the caches we looked for.Accurate coordinates and a familiar style of hide led to a quick find. Apart from a full logbook, the cache and contents were in good condition. We left a replacement log. Thanks Nedandmrskelly for the cache.
TFTC! Log book very full, no space to write. No need to go through the fence like I did (GPS went a bit wild )
After camping by the river last night, we are exploring Alpha this morning. Armed with a great coffee from the post office of all places... made a quick find here
33,498. Found during our Queensland Outback GeoMuster (QOGM) 2023 Longreach Adventure - a 33 day epic tour of Northern NSW and Outback Queensland finding many caches, attending great events and catching up with awesome Cachers along the way.Queensland Outback GeoMuster (QOGM) 2023 Longreach Adventure Day 26. After a fun night camping at Jericho with some fellow Cachers, we hit the road to finish another section of the Jericho Power Trail Road with Happy Feet 1. Once that was complete we parted company and we headed further east to the Alpha/Gemfields/Sapphire/Rubyvale region for another night stopover. We had a great night at the pub there. This was the next one on the list. Quickly found once at GZ. Signed as F65 and A33 as required. Replaced the cache as found, then we continued on our journey. Thanks to all the COs who put out these caches !!
On a slow, meandering trip out to Longreach for the QOGM 2023 event.

On the hunting trail with SeasonedBird while on a slow roundabout route to QOGM 2023 at Longreach. A quick find here after a couple of caching days in and around Rubyvale, Sapphire and the opportunity for Mrs Geo to hit the gem fields. We’re on the road again to spend a night at Alpha. It’s a great day for caching.

For anyone making Geo plans, do yourself a favour and visit Australia’s only current Geotour at Ballarat while it lasts: https://www.geocaching.com/play/geotours/ballarat-victoria
And for anyone that can travel to Longreach, Queensland, late September 2023, Google “QOGM” which is the Queensland Outback Geocaching Muster. You’ll have at least 8 or 9 days of pure geocaching fun with around 200 like minded people attending a mix of events and access to over 200 geocaches placed by the QOGM team. It’s not a Mega, it’s better.

Nice placement for a cache! I was about to go down the bank but spotted it beforehand, always a good thing
Great Northern escape 2022 Day 134. The Gemfields to Alpha. It was quite chilly night in Sapphire at The Gemfields, so I was happy to be up and away. There were a few caches along the highway, but I was still in Alpha by Mid morning and set up along the Cemetery road near the truck parking area. A spent the rest of the middle of the day trying to find the remaining Alpha caches. I failed on two that seem to be missing and had to leave one till after closing time. I finished the day with a late dinner at the pub as they did not open till 18.30, and no locals came in at all while I was there.
I walked around to this one as I came in from the wrong end for the one way road. Once on site, it was a quick find in an ingenuous spot.
Thanks for the cache Nedandmrskelly

A short walk from where we had parked the car, and a straight forward find after that.
After five nights staying at the Showgrounds in Jericho overnight, and caching madly most days, we have hooked up the van again and are continuing our travels. A few days in Emerald where the car will be getting a service, and then who knows. That’s as far as our plans go.
Of course, we can’t just drive down a highway-not if there’s caches to be found. Great work by all the local CO’s for nicely breaking our journey with lots of lovely yellow smilies. Your efforts are appreciated, thank you all very much.

Day 14 of my trip north from Adelaide in search of some warmer weather and a few caches.
After camping last night at Jericho, today I traveled to Emerald, with a side trip up to Sapphire and Rubyvale.
I spent a bit of time in and around Alpha hunting out some of the caches in this Alpha series with mixed results.
This was a quick find that I spotted from above, although it was a bit daunting poking my fingers in to grab it after also spotting the nice-sized eight legged cache guardian positioned just above it!
Thanks Nedandmrskelly for the cache.

We arrived in Alpha for an overnight stop on our annual trip around Qld. We had no idea if there were any geocaches here, and were pleasantly surprised to find this wonderful series placed by Nedandmrskelly. This was a well-hidden but easy find, without any muggle activity in the vicinity. Thanks so much for your efforts in placing these caches for our enjoyment. Cheers from Bindair Dundat and Princess Madelyn.
Grey Nomads travelling in their caravan around Australia. We have been on the road since July 2011 and discovered caching in August 2013. We travel with a bunch of travel bugs belonging to our sons and grand children. Where ever possible, we will maintain your cache as we travel.
Now travelling west towards Barcaldine for TheLongestLine (of RVs) World Guinness Record attempt. BRC is very proactive in gaining greynomads to visit. This is one of their attempts. Geocaching is another. This is one of many in the BRC for us to attempt.
After a break at lunch time, we were back in the geomobile to finish off the town caches.
Got it as well.... thanks Ned and his wife

Hi there Nedandmrskelly.
We found your cache **"Alpha 5"** at 11:22:00 AM today. (This makes our find count 20308).
We started the day off by nominating a cache near Alpha, and then took a route that was mostly determined by the next closest cache according to our GPS. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip around the area & ended up finding quite a variety of container types, and sizes hidden along our route.
We found 21 caches today & DNF'd 0. Without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our travels.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found the cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** Nothing.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

Over the years, geocaching has taken me on many adventures, including interesting destinations all over my home continent of Australia and many overseas as well. It has also introduced me to a diverse group of like-minded caching tragics, many of whom I now call close friends.
Today, I was lucky enough to be out and about searching for caches, something I do on almost a daily basis. This was one cache that was targeted and found.
Sorry for the late and generic log, something I am notorious for. Thank you Nedandmrskellyfor adding to the adventure that is geocaching.

Half the team was in Barcaldine for the Queensland Outback Geocaching
Muster having fun catching up and of course finding some caches.
We joined forces with Geoturtle37 Papi4506 and micaparamedic to head to
Jericho for the event there. We left early so we could find a few caches
in Alpha before hand.
Unfortunately I can not remember the order we attacked this series so it
is hard to write a log about each one. I can say each cache was found,
some harder than others and they were all in good condition and each log
book contains our names.
Many thanks nedandmrskelly for showing us around Alpha and a great
series we will have to return to finish
