After using Longreach as a base for a few days, we headed east this morning to get to Emerald by the end of the day. Of, course we cached along the way. This is one of the caches we looked for.Accurate coordinates and something familiar led to a quick find. Apart from the logbook being full, the cache and contents were in good condition. We left a replacement log. Thanks Nedandmrskelly for the cache.
Wazza and the Wench are touring QLD for a couple of weeks. Driving from the coast out to Longreach then, without a definite plan, driving back to the coast.Today we're heading from Emerald back to Yepoon with very few stops along the way. This was the only cache we had earmarked for Alpha.Thank you, Nedandmrskelly, for this cache.#4323. Camped at Alpha for the night and walk over to the Showgrounds after breakfast for a quick find. TFTC
Thanks for placing Nedandmrskelly, nice quick one here, stayed in the aircon for this one.RVCL.
After camping by the river last night, we are exploring Alpha this morning. Armed with a great coffee from the post office of all places... made a quick find here
33,496. Found during our Queensland Outback GeoMuster (QOGM) 2023 Longreach Adventure - a 33 day epic tour of Northern NSW and Outback Queensland finding many caches, attending great events and catching up with awesome Cachers along the way.Queensland Outback GeoMuster (QOGM) 2023 Longreach Adventure Day 26. After a fun night camping at Jericho with some fellow Cachers, we hit the road to finish another section of the Jericho Power Trail Road with Happy Feet 1. Once that was complete we parted company and we headed further east to the Alpha/Gemfields/Sapphire/Rubyvale region for another night stopover. We had a great night at the pub there. This was the next one on the list. Quickly found once at GZ. Signed as F65 and A33 as required. Replaced the cache as found, then we continued on our journey. Thanks to all the COs who put out these caches !!

On the hunting trail with SeasonedBird while on a slow roundabout route to QOGM 2023 at Longreach. A quick find here after a couple of caching days in and around Rubyvale, Sapphire and the opportunity for Mrs Geo to hit the gem fields. We’re on the road again to spend a night at Alpha. It’s a great day for caching.

For anyone making Geo plans, do yourself a favour and visit Australia’s only current Geotour at Ballarat while it lasts: https://www.geocaching.com/play/geotours/ballarat-victoria
And for anyone that can travel to Longreach, Queensland, late September 2023, Google “QOGM” which is the Queensland Outback Geocaching Muster. You’ll have at least 8 or 9 days of pure geocaching fun with around 200 like minded people attending a mix of events and access to over 200 geocaches placed by the QOGM team. It’s not a Mega, it’s better.

Great Northern escape 2022 Day 134. The Gemfields to Alpha. It was quite chilly night in Sapphire at The Gemfields, so I was happy to be up and away. There were a few caches along the highway, but I was still in Alpha by Mid morning and set up along the Cemetery road near the truck parking area. A spent the rest of the middle of the day trying to find the remaining Alpha caches. I failed on two that seem to be missing and had to leave one till after closing time. I finished the day with a late dinner at the pub as they did not open till 18.30, and no locals came in at all while I was there.
After finding my way into the show grounds, I was able to locate this without any problems. This s another cache that blends in with the environment very well.
Thanks for the cache Nedandmrskelly

We both reminisced about going to 'real' shows in times gone by. Kids don't know what they are missing. Thanks for the cache.
We are zig zagging our way north with micaparamedic, Papi4506 & Geoturtle37 and after staying at Blackall we are heading towards the Lab caches in Emerald via Barcaldine to grab a few solved puzzles there.
We were in Alpha for the 2018 QOGM event but took too long caching our way out here and didn't get time to clean up all the caches in town. Today we were hoping to rectify that and this was the first of the five were looking for.
It doesn't seem to matter how small these country towns are most of them have a show ground. It must have been a great atmosphere in the days would bring their stock and produce to display. They would have been fantastic get togethers for the locals. Now days all the shows just seem to be carnivals and kids rides trying to drag dollars out of us for their communities.
None of that was happening here today and we managed a nice quick find right where the GPSr was pointing and we then added our names to the log.
Thanks NedandMrskelly for the cache.

After five nights staying at the Showgrounds in Jericho overnight, and caching madly most days, we have hooked up the van again and are continuing our travels. A few days in Emerald where the car will be getting a service, and then who knows. That’s as far as our plans go.
Of course, we can’t just drive down a highway-not if there’s caches to be found. Great work by all the local CO’s for nicely breaking our journey with lots of lovely yellow smilies. Your efforts are appreciated, thank you all very much.

Day ten of my outback Queensland trip and the plan today is to arrive in Emerald by night time, via the towns of Jericho, Alpha, Sapphire, Rubyvale and Anakie. Continuing with my challenges of a trad a day and a cache a day and collecting a few more for the day. I do have a list of caches that I do want to collect along the way and probably some extras as I see fit.
Caching on my own again and am enjoying the time and adventures that comes with that. Though most of the caches were easy finds, some did give me a smile and I saw some familiar name in the logs, was I following?

We arrived in Alpha for an overnight stop on our annual trip around Qld. We had no idea if there were any geocaches here, and were pleasantly surprised to find this wonderful series placed by Nedandmrskelly. This was a very cunning hide, but fortunately we'd seen this type before and soon had it in hand. Thanks so much for your efforts in placing these caches for our enjoyment. Cheers from Bindair Dundat and Princess Madelyn.
Grey Nomads travelling in their caravan around Australia. We have been on the road since July 2011 and discovered caching in August 2013. We travel with a bunch of travel bugs belonging to our sons and grand children. Where ever possible, we will maintain your cache as we travel.
Now travelling west towards Barcaldine for TheLongestLine (of RVs) World Guinness Record attempt. BRC is very proactive in gaining greynomads to visit. This is one of their attempts. Geocaching is another. This is one of many in the BRC for us to attempt.
Quick and easy, once we worked out where to get in. Thanks Ned and Mrs Kelly

Hi there Nedandmrskelly.
We found your cache **"Alpha. 10"** at 10:52:00 AM today. (This makes our find count 20303).
We started the day off by nominating a cache near Alpha, and then took a route that was mostly determined by the next closest cache according to our GPS. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip around the area & ended up finding quite a variety of container types, and sizes hidden along our route.
We found 21 caches today & DNF'd 0. Without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our travels.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found the cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** Nothing.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

Following a very early morning walk and then another before morning tea, we later set out in the car to try and clean up all the caches in town. So far we have them all except one and the Earth cache, but the day isn't over yet. Still the trickiest to go, but I'm not giving up! Thanks to NedandMrsKelly for the wonderful variety of hides and caches. All logs were signed though some as SG as I often do in small caches to save space.
