Attending the Wangaratta Mega weekend with the ladies of FurfacesLL, we collected heaps of caches and saw many scenic views along the way. Today we were back on the bike trail, we had a mix of heat, rain, humidity, mozzies and flies.

Picking up where we left off on Friday and it was time to continue our travels. It was a great day out on the trail with lots of laughter along the way. Some finds were nice and quick and some took a little longer, but in the end, we found most.

Thanks to the CO for the cache placement for us to all enjoy. Thanks to the FFLL ladies for a fun filled trip away Big Grin

Day 4 of the Wangaratta Mega with Rapidlywild.

Today we decided to head early to try and beat the heat and call into Beechworth first to do one of the labs there and then it was back onto the trail with the bikes.

Back on the trail and thankfully when we started it was still cool, but it looked like it would be a very warm one.

All caches were found along the journey unless otherwise mentioned.
Great trail and glad we took the time out to make the journey.

Thanks for the hide and maintaining BettyBoo3747

Out riding the Rail Trails with PamJ today.
Thanks for all the work put into placing these, and keeping them maintained,
We had a nice day weather wise, but decided to go back to Melbourne tonight as it looks like we're in for a deluge over the next few days.
Thanks to BettyBoo3747 for helping us to have a great day.

11-Nov-21
Spent a wonderful day around Wangaratta ion the bike trails with geo-hubby gmj3191, then had lunch in Beechworth and then back to Wangaratta via Woolshed Falls and Eldorado. But this was our last day due the expected major rain event.
Thanks to BettyBoo3747 for contributing the adventure..

10-Oct-21
A nice straight forwards find.
The house block opposite may indicate that there has been a building there in the past and maybe a platform at this cutting.
Once again the wild flowers are great.

04-Oct-21
A section of 6 caches here completed on my bike. I am glad I brought it along but I am way out of practice riding and I will be saddle sore tonight. However this is a lovely ride along a paved path and I had the trail to myself.
No problems here finding this one amongst the three pines. Beautiful day out here.

14-Aug-21
Riding from Everton Station to do a bit of a pre-Mega cache check. Visited 12 caches and fixed as required. Also took note of containers requiring attention at my next visit. Finally, after many months got to GZ here and removed the original container that was in dreadful condition. We had been unable to even locate it in June 2020. Left the most recent container and covered with camouflage. All good here now.

05-Jun-21
Both containers are still here. Log signed in one and they really need combining

22-May-21
Quick find as the sun wakes up with noisy sheep. Tftc

Yep two caches here. One hidden one not.
I hid both together to give the next player a bit more of a challenge Smile

02-Apr-21
Found another fun cache along the bike trail

27-Mar-21
This was exciting - 2 containers found - one a replacement for the damaged one which was also there! Tried not to look suspicious as the helicopter flew over! Hehehe. TFTC

As a member of TeamOZCAT logged in this cache, I am now logging as an individual predominantly to avoid any mistaken/unnecessary revisitation.
Under groundspeak guidelines, this logging is acceptable as I was indeed at Cache GZ in person in recent times. However, all cache owners have the right to delete logs as they see fit. Usually done to "Armchair loggers" or inappropriate texting.

If any cache Owner/s have questions regarding this matter, please feel free to contact.

TeamOZCAT logged finds when both Karen and Reg logged as individuals. This logging is exactly the same, only in reverse. Again, groundspeak acceptable.
For an unspecified period of time TeamOZCAT are no longer cache searching but remain active in our cache management and maintenance.

I sincerely thank all CO's and wish you all the best in your endeavours. Cheers Karen

We have spent quite a few times in this area both as individuals, as a team, and sometimes with family and friends. Today Targetting the TRAIL AND DIFFY TRIANGLE on our non electric treddlies. More often than not the eldest of team being left behind and breathing heavier than Her !   A lovely enjoyable days riding. The 2 DNF's we had previously in the triangle remain Dnf's.  ie: Horseshoe and L box bicycle elude us.  All caches found in relatively good condition.  Partner thrilled in finding a PT which appears to becoming a less common find.

06-Jan-21
The start of our big day riding the trails. It was cool in the morning but became very warm later in the day. The container was found just where the numbers took us, signed in and we moved on.
Getting tired now.
Thanks BettyBoo3747

Geokid #3 was needing to get out of the house and was his choice to ride part of the rail trail.. ideally we would've loved to do this whole section but it was way to hot as I was on foot. We only found the one cache before heading back into Beechworth for some lunch at Gum tree pies. Thanks Bettyboo cache all ok.. signed log and rehid as found

Today I bicycled the M2M from Wangaratta to Everton. A great ride that I thoroughly enjoyed. Had a pretty good strike rate overall, but there was the odd inevitable DNF along the way as well. As a non-bike rider, I have been slowly working through the rail trails around Beechworth by walking them (and there are plenty more to do). Like the HSS Basketball, the “Everton Triangle” has attracted my eye as it offered the opportunity to walk a route and not have to walk back the same path (and then get caches the whole way). Didn’t realise the last leg was actually a road, but in the time I walked this I saw one bike rider so was all good. Wasn’t too busy – saw three bikes and a dog walker getting the 3 HSS at the start, 5 bikes from there to Everton and no-one on the leg between Everton and Diffey Road. The geohound enjoyed the walk – in the end we did the 9 (or so) kilometres in just under 2.5 hours. In this time I got 23 finds and 1 DNF (which may be there) and help me achieve my first 50 cache day. Thanks to BettyBoo3747 for putting these caches out. Plenty of good birds calling as well – I have listed a few at individual caches.

Nice big cache here - quickly found, log signed and on my way.

Hunting for hidden creatures today... getting closer to finding the world turtle! Eldest kid & older pup + mum took on the top trail while dad & youngest kid & younger pup took on the other side of the triangle & we met back at the station. Kids pokemoning & hatching eggs as we walked. SL & replaced as found. Tftc BettyBoo3747

12-Jun-18
Today is the 9th of June long weekend of 2018 and I managed to ride a bike for the first time in 15 years to find a heap of the Rail Trail caches with Joolay, Kitty Katch, Strangetrousers and several others. We signed the logbook as a group under the name Capital Crunches to save space on the logs. We had several DNFs along the way but most of the caches were easy and quick finds. Spotted two rabbits, millions of birds and heaps of farm animals. It was amazing, Thanks for all the caches and sorry for the generic log for this cache but with so many caches in one day it would be too hard to write a different one for each cache. I have included my Geocaching poem within my log for you and anyone else to read. I hope you all enjoy the poem and geocaching as much as I do.

I found this cache on one of the three days caching in this area. Strangetrousers and I collected about 20 caches including a multi, puzzles, an Earthcache and Traditionals before heading back to Canberra and real life (Sadly).

Geocache Poem
By DARKSIDEDAN

My endless search goes on and on
Looking for treasures of every kind
Always chasing just one more find
Putting past DNF’s out of my mind

I step out into the world outside,
Seeking what is hidden from me
What size, shape or form will it be?
Only time will tell, I can’t wait to see

Will I find my prize at the end?
I will search in the failing light and cold
Filling with despair having looked everywhere
Where is this thing that gives my life pleasure?

Looking all around from every angle
I read the logs and check the hint
I curse out loud as I walk in circles
Screaming the bloody thing it not there

As time flies by and I fail to see,
Never once stopping to realize
It always been there before my eyes
No need for sorrow, there’s the Geocache.

***** I am currently writing detailed logs because of a challenge provided by Project-GC. "The Author" Badge challenges geocachers to average one hundred words or more in each log. As of today the 9th June 2018 my average was 70 words per log, which seems close to the 100 target. However given that I have found so many GC caches, I have to write many logs with well over 100 words for a long period of time to get my average to the target. Apologies to anyone who finds the logs tedious but it is the only way that I can strive to attain this challenge. After almost 3000 plus caches (which includes all cache finds up and including yesterday), the average log length is just over 70 words. I am now entertaining the possibility that I might be able to achieve my task before this year ends. Progress has been better than anticipated.*****

Fantastic day riding from Everton to Wangaratta on the 2nd day of riding the trail. Beautiful sunny day and such a lovely area to ride through and great trail. Did not find all as some were tricky. Found with Kittykatch, Canberra Chic, Strangetrousers, Geo Snag1 and Darksidedan (Capital Crunchers) on a caching trip to Wangaratta to ride the rail trail. Thanks for bringing us here

#4124 5th for today

Day 2 of our MMRT trail ride weekend at Beechworth/Wanagaratta.Today I was joined by Kittykatch, Joolay, CBRChic, Geosnag1 and DarkSideDan. So we resumed where we left off yesterday at Everton and managed a much better rythym today, broken only by the occasional difficult find or DNF. I think we rode about 35 Km in total, but it wasn't too bad being mostly long flat stretches. We spotted lots of cows, sheep, some horses and a few goats along the way. Not a few cyclists also passed us also. We even came across a family of first time geocachers and gave them a few hints.

Logs variously signed as "Capital Crunchers", "CBR Crunchers" and "Canberra Crunchers". And thanks to Grimraider for the transport today.

Thanks to the COs: BettyBoo3747

Riding the triangle of caches from Everton Station and back again, a lovely 10km ride doing cache checks on all my caches and performing maintenance when required.

This was sitting in the open so after dropping in a TB to continue its journey from here I rehid and we continued on.

On the final day of the long weekend of caching, Gunks and I hit the trail early at 630. Grabbing 25 cache while cycling along the trail before returning to Beechworth for brekky. Picked up a couple more before hitting the other end of the trail. Became too hot before we could finish so headed to Mt Buffalo for a scenic viewing and a couple more cache. Great caches. Thanks for taking the time to set them all up.

12-Nov-17
An early start today, up at 6am, pack everything out of the cabin and get into Beechworth and on the trail as early as we could. Planned to cycle for 90min away form Beechworth collecting cache, then back for cafe breaky at 9am, was yummo! Then we collected a few cache on the way to the other end of todays Trail adventure whic was the triangle. We did the Triangle buT the temp was getting up into the high twenties so we decided not to complete the trail on bikes. This is fine, it means we have to come back! We then headed on a little adventure to the to of Mt Buffalo, did a few short walks and picked off a few more. Such stunning views up here, cant wait to get back already. Fantanstic effort by the CO's, just about every cache was in great condition. TFTC.

This triangle of caches was beckoning and seemed a perfect time out ride Enroute to Melbourne. And just the sort of activity to recover from a long day hike to Bogong yesterday. Love the variety. TFTC's

TFTC. Continuing to complete this triangle of caches placed since the last time we were in the area. We are camped at Pioneer Bridges for the night, a great location to stay to find these caches. This morning we used the geo- vehicle. This afternoon it had to be via geo-bike. Like this morning it looks as like we are following "If". The caches in this E2B and the M2M trail were all relatively simple finds. Luckily no cache guardians were seen.

17-Dec-16
With KB in town for a few days it was decided that we'd hit the rail trail on the weekend. It was a warm and windy day, we started at 10am in Bowser and made our way along the trail. Most were quite easy finds but a few were challenging. We contended with loads of grass seeds in the sometimes shoulder height grass, we also found a couple of snakes guarding caches along the way (a brown and a red belly black).

Thanks for a fun day out which finished at 7pm!

And of course, TFTC

Geofamily trip to Victoria... Cool! Cool
Mrs Moneydork, Moneydork, sushilord and I left Friday morning for a 4 day jaunt over the border to find a cache or two Cool
Two nights in Wangaratta and then a night in Bendigo left me with 10 DNFs Sad and 205 cache finds Smile one of which was a FTF SurprisedSmile
Day 2 around Wangaratta and our expected long day of riding was cut short by a malfunctioning pushbike Sad That meant only 100 Smile finds today with 4 DNFs Sad

I saw part of this rail trail when in Victoria doing the Lake Eildon Geo Tour and thought how cool it would be to ride it Cool
So I was stoked to be here and actually riding on it and finding caches Big Grin[^]
Sadly the ride was concluded earlier than anticipated due to mechanical failure Sad so we ended up walking and driving to some of the caches we had thought to ride to Surprised
Still the area is great with some great views, some interesting sights and of course caches and smileys Smile
As good as it gets [^]

The geofamily are off on another trip to Mexico. Fun, sore backsides (for some) and Dad getting the geomobile stuck and breaking his bike, TWICE were the highlights of the trip. One of the running jokes for the trip was 'If it's 2.5T it's laying on the ground, if it's 2.5D it's under that pile of rocks or in the open, if it's listed as large we are looking for an eclipse tin' which came about due to a number of early finds. The lasting memory from this trip will be the grass seeds!!!

Found while riding the Beechworth to Wangaratta Rail Trail.

Thanks for the cache BettyBoo.

A 4 day trip from Adelaide to Everton, Beechworth and surrounds.

8 of South Australia's finest caching teams came across the border Freddo, Team Astro, The White Dog Gang, Four Fun, Unicycle, Southern Cross Caching, Shonkloic, and Team Waldron hit the bike trails and country back roads.

It wasn't nice the the mozzies were sent to defend the ceches against us but we persisted.

On the way home we visited Bendigo, St Arnaud and many towns in between.

Many thanks to all the cache owners who put out caches for us to find.

A great time was had and we left enough to make another trip worthwhile.

Smile Found on an awesome trip with the SAW STUFF boys (Shonky, Astro[me], Waldron, Southern Cross, Whitedog, Unicycle, Freddo & Four-Fun). The trip had it all including this awesome cache. There were pots and schooners (no pints) Surprised, mazzive mozzies the size of small elephants we hitched rides on Razz, realistic lizards, real live [xx(] kangaroos that got to close and uphills. Then there were bikes and pumps. There was sweat and dust but no tears. Big Grin My thanks to the group and the coordination that enabled an amazing fun filled few days that will go down in caching-lore. [^]

Just three. We CAME. We CACHED. We SAW STUFF. Eight South Australian caching teams on the prowl in Lake Victoria. We were attacked by vampire mosquitoes. We were attacked by rogue magpies. We were attacked by brown snakes. We were attacked by running kangaroos. We were attacked by publicans and cooks. In the end we got the message and went home, but not before finding lots of hidden cachey things using billions of dollars of satellites and cheap hand-held devices.

Down from Canberra with fitzy_1965 and Sol de lune (signed as "FSS") to hit the Mt. Disappointment PT as well as a whole lot of other caches along the way! Big Grin. Good weather, lots of laughs, a muddy Geo-Jeep and a massive haul of caches equals an epic weekend of caching all round! Big GrinCool

Swung by this one on the way to Beechworth for more caching before home Big Grin An easy find on the wander down the trail. We added a bit more camo as it was a little exposed.

11647. Found during Day 3 of an epic caching weekend with specimenX and Sol de Lune.

The three of us (usually signing as 'FSS') traveled south this weekend for the Mt Disappointment Power Trail and as many others as possible. After finishing the trail yesterday, we started heading home today via the Whroo and Beechworth regions for another good day of caching. I really enjoy caching around this area. We didn't have much time but we filled many gaps today ! Drove back around to walk up the trail here. Quick find at GZ for us ! Signed Log, Returned the Cache, and headed off to the next one !!

Thanks again BettyBoo3747 !!

Day 3 of the weekend around the Seymour area with fitzy_1965 and specimenX, and after completing the Mt Disappointment series and with time to spare, we headed home on a longer route.

After grabbing the Whroo series, we headed for one of our favourite areas - Beechworth - you know, just
to grab a few more. Turned out to be a good idea as we found a few that we had previously been DNF's, as well many many new ones. No problems with any of the finds and all caches were in good condition.

Thanks BB for yet another fun, if only for a couple or hours, caching run around the area.

#3995 10:50 AM

A quiet weekends caching was on the cards with the intent to find the caches in this triangle from Everton Upper station towards Everton, turning left up Diffy Rd and back along the rail trail to Everton station with a side trip up the Flame trees mountain bike track.
23 was the goal but only 1 DNF stood in the way of that, but that disappointment was overcome by finding a few others on the side trip I had scored DNF's on earlier trips.

Good to see a nice sized container for swaps, don't often see them on power trails.

TFTC TNLN Cheers.

#1929 Obviously still reeling from a dnf at the previous cache we accidentally overshot gz by about 100 metres or so before realising. This was OK as this provided time for a friendly muggle over the fence collecting a barrow of wood to clear off before we u-turned and descended on one of these lovely pines for an easy find. Ok now we are back on track, TFTC BB.

Not much of a day for caching, but we found a short period in the afternoon that was OK for a bike ride. Dragged the bikes to Everton and rode a small triangle of caches.
They are quite mature trees, and strangely spaced. The GPSr said the middle one, and it was a quick find of a good sized cache.
Thanks, Robmc.
