11-Apr-24
This hide might need a little bit of love because we could see it was cracked and part of the plastic on the ground. We are so busted at preparation that we dont carry replacements at home let alone on holiday. The only replacement we had were receipts from wineries in cache a cache needed a new log. tftc

The 'Needs Archive' log of 05/Jan/2024 is not appropriate for this situation, and 'VanderHunters ' have been advised of the appropriate Guidelines and protocols. However, from the log, it would appear that some action by the CO is required in regard to this cache.**An 'Owner Attention Requested' log has not actually been placed on this cache. so I am placing one with this log.**

07-Jan-24
First cache visited on our maintenance run this morning. The log sheet had been wet in the past but was dry (and yes they never look pristine after that, but it was just fine). However, new log sheet is now in place.

05-Jan-24
Nice to find one! Hot day for a walk.

Hey, the paper in the cache needs replacing. It has water damage. Cheers.

This is my first trip outside New Zealand caching and enjoyed getting this cache with Team SPINZ tftc

05-Apr-23
Exploring rural Victoria as part of the SPINZ team: Sidewaze, paddle chick, Isis58 and Nanzie from New Zealand. I’m really enjoying the landscape and seeing what goes on in this neck of the woods. All the different eucalypts, the pepper trees and other interesting plants. The colourful birds, some quite noisy and some very noisy. The many vistas - - beautiful in sunlight and shade. I loved visiting each and every cache and really appreciate the effort required to hide and maintain them. Thanks to the cache owners. Greetings from Aotearoa / New Zealand, happy caching and if you have yet to visit us across the ditch to see what we have to offer, do make sure you enter such a visit on your “to do” list.

05-Apr-23
Found on our Rutherglen Mega trip, all logs signed as SPINZ (Sidewaze, Paddle Chick, Isis58 and Nanzie from NZ). Sorry about the cut and paste logs. TFTC

Our original plan from the bus stop had been to start on the Basketball Hoop series and pick up the additional solved puzzles and challenges as we passed. It was obvious by now that we didn't have time for all that so a quick ad hoc readjustment brought us to here. TFTC # 19,038

Found on one day while at the MEGA. Another nice easy find.

16-Jan-22
Attending the Wangaratta Mega weekend with the ladies of FurfacesLL, we collected heaps of caches and saw many scenic views along the way. Today we were back on the bike trail, we had a mix of heat, rain, humidity, mozzies and flies.

Picking up where we left off on Friday and it was time to continue our travels. It was a great day out on the trail with lots of laughter along the way.

Thanks to the CO for the cache placement for us to all enjoy. Thanks to the FFLL ladies for a fun filled trip away Big Grin

16-Jan-22
Day 4 of the Wangaratta Mega with Rapidlywild.

Today we decided to head early to try and beat the heat and call into Beechworth first to do one of the labs there and then it was back onto the trail with the bikes.

Back on the trail and thankfully when we started it was still cool, but it looked like it would be a very warm one.

All caches were found along the journey unless otherwise mentioned.
Great trail and glad we took the time out to make the journey.

Thanks for the hide and maintaining BettyBoo3747

Third day of my Wangaratta adventure. Weather forecast is looking good again. Lots of caching in the local area today as a heads up for tomorrow's main event! Railtrail all the way

13-Jan-22
Found by Mary and David at 14:30. Spotted a likely hiding place after a longer search than usual, and a closer more careful exploration revealed a likely object. Once we removed it, though, a horde of angry ants emerged. Back to the car for some spray to give us safer access, then we spotted part of the container. Some manipulation with a couple of (chop)sticks and we winkled the container out without getting bitten. A FP because we defeated them. Remember a rocker called Adam Ant in the '80s? Our thanks to BettyBoo3747.

13-Jan-22
This is a great trail. No traffic. Tar road. Countryside serenity. Each cache is different. Excellent. TFTC series.

Thanks to BettyBoo3747 for helping us to have a great day.

Spent a wonderful day around Wangaratta ion the bike trails with geo-hubby gmj3191, then had lunch in Beechworth and then back to Wangaratta via Woolshed Falls and Eldorado. But this was our last day due the expected major rain event.

The start of our big day riding the trails. It was cool in the morning but became very warm later in the day. The container was found just where the numbers took us, signed in and we moved on.
Alan chatted to his friend who moved up here while I minded the wire on my tyre.
Thanks BettyBoo3747

As a member of TeamOZCAT logged in this cache, I am now logging as an individual predominantly to avoid any mistaken/unnecessary revisitation.
Under groundspeak guidelines, this logging is acceptable as I was indeed at Cache GZ in person in recent times. However, all cache owners have the right to delete logs as they see fit. Usually done to "Armchair loggers" or inappropriate texting.

If any cache Owner/s have questions regarding this matter, please feel free to contact.

TeamOZCAT logged finds when both Karen and Reg logged as individuals. This logging is exactly the same, only in reverse. Again, groundspeak acceptable.
For an unspecified period of time TeamOZCAT are no longer cache searching but remain active in our cache management and maintenance.

I sincerely thank all CO's and wish you all the best in your endeavours. Cheers Karen

We departed Wodonga early morning for Wang and make use of a full day. After some shopping and a coffee in town, we headed off to Everton with the goal to take on board various caches Roadside/Rail Trail and Diffy Rd. Many thanks to all cache owners and all those caches found were in a sound condition. All in all, we had a joyful day and as usual, regardless of any forecast, this Team brings out the best of weather. Again, thanks kindly cache owners.

After only finding and attempting two caches on the trail as geokid#3 decided he had enough, we stopped by and grabbed this one before we headed back to Beechworth for some lunch. Thanks BettyBoo looking forward to getting on the bike and completing this part of the trail.

Today I bicycled the M2M from Wangaratta to Everton. A great ride that I thoroughly enjoyed. Had a pretty good strike rate overall, but there was the odd inevitable DNF along the way as well. Thanks to everyone for all the cache placements, and also thanks to Nigel for the bicycle hire and shuttle service. Cheers and TFTC

The first find of the day, setting out to ride the 'Everton Triangle', an easy find and despite the warning in the name of the cache, the wire almost tripped one of the geofamily!

05-Nov-18
The cache name was a good warning to cachers searching here. It was an easy find amongst the cobwebs A tiny yellow and black spider is in residence under the cache container. We did this cache as a park and grab as the trail crosses the road close to here. There’s lots of grass starting to seed in paddocks along this trail at the moment.

05-Nov-18
First find with the cub group!

05-Nov-18
Very clever!

05-Oct-18

Next one while doing the Murray to Mountains rail trail. After leaving the caravan park I got back on the trail and this was my first. A quick find. Lucky noone was looking from the nearby house TFTC

30-Sep-18
I found this one last weekend after geokid No.2 convinced me that we should head back to Everton and finish the rail trail triangle. It was a perfect day for caching on the bike. This cache was the seventh for the day. TFTC

28-Jul-18
As a non-bike rider, I have been slowly working through the rail trails around Beechworth by walking them (and there are plenty more to do). Like the HSS Basketball, the “Everton Triangle” has attracted my eye as it offered the opportunity to walk a route and not have to walk back the same path (and then get caches the whole way). Didn’t realise the last leg was actually a road, but in the time I walked this I saw one bike rider so was all good. Wasn’t too busy – saw three bikes and a dog walker getting the 3 HSS at the start, 5 bikes from there to Everton and no-one on the leg between Everton and Diffey Road. The geohound enjoyed the walk – in the end we did the 9 (or so) kilometres in just under 2.5 hours. In this time I got 23 finds and 1 DNF (which may be there) and help me achieve my first 50 cache day. Thanks to BettyBoo3747 for putting these caches out. Plenty of good birds calling as well – I have listed a few at individual caches.

Again a quick find - the wire is almost a piece of art.

A very short walk from my parking spot and in spite OG the wire warning it still tried to tangle itself around my feet and almost tripped me up TFTC BettyBoo

12-Jun-18
Today is the 9th of June long weekend of 2018 and I managed to ride a bike for the first time in 15 years to find a heap of the Rail Trail caches with Joolay, Kitty Katch, Strangetrousers and several others. We signed the logbook as a group under the name Capital Crunches to save space on the logs. We had several DNFs along the way but most of the caches were easy and quick finds. Spotted two rabbits, millions of birds and heaps of farm animals. It was amazing, Thanks for all the caches and sorry for the generic log for this cache but with so many caches in one day it would be too hard to write a different one for each cache. I have included my Geocaching poem within my log for you and anyone else to read. I hope you all enjoy the poem and geocaching as much as I do.

I found this cache on one of the three days caching in this area. Strangetrousers and I collected about 20 caches including a multi, puzzles, an Earthcache and Traditionals before heading back to Canberra and real life (Sadly).

Geocache Poem
By DARKSIDEDAN

My endless search goes on and on
Looking for treasures of every kind
Always chasing just one more find
Putting past DNF’s out of my mind

I step out into the world outside,
Seeking what is hidden from me
What size, shape or form will it be?
Only time will tell, I can’t wait to see

Will I find my prize at the end?
I will search in the failing light and cold
Filling with despair having looked everywhere
Where is this thing that gives my life pleasure?

Looking all around from every angle
I read the logs and check the hint
I curse out loud as I walk in circles
Screaming the bloody thing it not there

As time flies by and I fail to see,
Never once stopping to realize
It always been there before my eyes
No need for sorrow, there’s the Geocache.

***** I am currently writing detailed logs because of a challenge provided by Project-GC. "The Author" Badge challenges geocachers to average one hundred words or more in each log. As of today the 9th June 2018 my average was 70 words per log, which seems close to the 100 target. However given that I have found so many GC caches, I have to write many logs with well over 100 words for a long period of time to get my average to the target. Apologies to anyone who finds the logs tedious but it is the only way that I can strive to attain this challenge. After almost 3000 plus caches (which includes all cache finds up and including yesterday), the average log length is just over 70 words. I am now entertaining the possibility that I might be able to achieve my task before this year ends. Progress has been better than anticipated.*****

Fantastic day riding from Everton to Wangaratta on the 2nd day of riding the trail. Beautiful sunny day and such a lovely area to ride through and great trail. Did not find all as some were tricky. Found with Kittykatch, Canberra Chic, Strangetrousers, Geo Snag1 and Darksidedan (Capital Crunchers) on a caching trip to Wangaratta to ride the rail trail. Thanks for bringing us here

#4129 10th for today

Day 2 of our MMRT trail ride weekend at Beechworth/Wanagaratta.Today I was joined by Kittykatch, Joolay, CBRChic, Geosnag1 and DarkSideDan. So we resumed where we left off yesterday at Everton and managed a much better rythym today, broken only by the occasional difficult find or DNF. I think we rode about 35 Km in total, but it wasn't too bad being mostly long flat stretches. We spotted lots of cows, sheep, some horses and a few goats along the way. Not a few cyclists also passed us also. We even came across a family of first time geocachers and gave them a few hints.

Logs variously signed as "Capital Crunchers", "CBR Crunchers" and "Canberra Crunchers". And thanks to Grimraider for the transport today.

Thanks to the COs: BettyBoo3747

12-Nov-17
On the final day of the long weekend of caching, Gunks and I hit the trail early at 630. Grabbing 25 cache while cycling along the trail before returning to Beechworth for brekky. Picked up a couple more before hitting the other end of the trail. Became too hot before we could finish so headed to Mt Buffalo for a scenic viewing and a couple more cache. Great caches. Thanks for taking the time to set them all up.

12-Nov-17
An early start today, up at 6am, pack everything out of the cabin and get into Beechworth and on the trail as early as we could. Planned to cycle for 90min away form Beechworth collecting cache, then back for cafe breaky at 9am, was yummo! Then we collected a few cache on the way to the other end of todays Trail adventure whic was the triangle. We did the Triangle buT the temp was getting up into the high twenties so we decided not to complete the trail on bikes. This is fine, it means we have to come back! We then headed on a little adventure to the to of Mt Buffalo, did a few short walks and picked off a few more. Such stunning views up here, cant wait to get back already. Fantanstic effort by the CO's, just about every cache was in great condition. TFTC.

01-Nov-17
Be warned - well guarded by big ants! Don't seem to bite - they swarmed guarding nest I suppose. A stick should get it out for you. TFTC

After a good nights sleep in the Buckland Valley, It was time to head towards the 1 month to Mega event. Another Glorious day in the north east of the state.

Nothing like a bunch of (Well 1 anyway) barking dogs to encourage one to find a cache quickly. Got him Smile Off I go again

Many thanks to BettyBoo3747 for the cache. TNLN.

TFTC. Continuing to complete this triangle of caches placed since the last time we were in the area. We are camped at Pioneer Bridges for the night, a great location to stay to find these caches. This morning we used the geo- vehicle. This afternoon it had to be via geo-bike. Like this morning it looks as like we are following "If". The caches in this E2B and the M2M trail were all relatively simple finds. Luckily no cache guardians were seen.

17-Dec-16
With KB in town for a few days it was decided that we'd hit the rail trail on the weekend. It was a warm and windy day, we started at 10am in Bowser and made our way along the trail. Most were quite easy finds but a few were challenging. We contended with loads of grass seeds in the sometimes shoulder height grass, we also found a couple of snakes guarding caches along the way (a brown and a red belly black).

Thanks for a fun day out which finished at 7pm!

And of course, TFTC

17-Dec-16
Last one before cycling to Everton for some much needed food. Thanks.
