Found container but couldnt retrieve cache. Nice secluded spot. . Signs of rough sleepers. Pic for proof.
Well that was hard. Tried every angle I could to retrieve the cache the correct way and eventually was able to get it out via in. The easiest part of this hunt was finding a way back out to the roundabout. Earns a Fav point for the fun.
Knowing this roundabout will be busy later in the day, we headed out early to find this cache. As we waited suspiciously for a gap in the muggles we ran in, mrlgrose falling into the bush, eimajesordaman and I looked for traffic. We walked in and saw the cache container instantly, after a bit of fidgeting and playing with the cache mechanism, we got it out. I recommend pliers or a multitool to get this cache out.Favourite point from me for this cache placement and uniqueness. Thanks nickhbnz for the cache.
Really good hide, too bad I think the proper puzzle is broken, but cache can still be retrieved with a bit of effort. Was worth falling into the bush on the way in and popping back up right in front of a 4 wheel muggle. Cheers
Up at at crack of dawn to avoid running the gauntlet across the expressway. Found the cache quickly, however retrieving the log took a little more time! Rubidium68 the last to sign log, great cache, thanks for the hide.

Je crois avoir usé d'un peu de chance en plus de la réflexion mais j'ai fini par réussir à l'avoir en main. C'est vicieux mais j'aime bien.

I think I used a little luck in addition to thinking but I ended up managing to get it in hand. It's vicious but I like it.

A funny green oasis in the middle of a highway. I spotted the container before the phone had settled down — it’s been doing that today. After accepting I really couldn’t fiddle the inner container back out the top I spent a frustrating few minutes working it out the bottom. Another minute of latitude, a large cache, and something I haven’t seen before… thanks nickhbnz!
Didn’t take too long to figure out the field puzzle, but Apple and google maps got confused and sent us 7kms away. Today about $6000 worth of our e scooter were stolen from us while on holiday but insurance should cover everything.
I wrote in the log and concealed it carefully back as found,

Quick find of cache but had trouble getting it out. Eventually inveiled it out and signed. TFTC
We are in the North Island with the main purpose of completing the PWGT Tahi section so we have been to the far north. Along the way we will pick up a few other caches that take our interest such as those with lots of favourites or size large or letterbox caches or some that will just help us to fulfil some of the various challenges we are working on. One of those challenges is to have 25 finds in every county of the country. We were short in Taranaki and in Gisborne - hence we have come here on our way home to ensure we find enough caches to fulfill that challenge in Nelson.
This was a bit different and quite fun to do. The fact that it is size large is what got us to stop and look for it. The fact that it was something quite novel makes it get a favourite from us.
We are really enjoying the places we are visiting and the knowledge we are gaining through the tour, we just wish we had more time to explore these areas further. I guess once we retire that wish will come true.
With the new souvenir challenge we need to use the app to log the finds, but as I like to waffle on and write my stories on my laptop I am writing these while back at the campervan.
Thank you for placing this cache and thank you for the smiley

Awesome cache. Loved the field puzzle gadget element that we had to figure out in order to get to the log. Very nice, and worthy of favourite points! TFTC!!!
On a trip to the Hawkes Bay with FMZ. Stopped here in the dead of night and the 2 men disappeared leaving Paua in the car with a crowd of curious animals barging around on the fenceline trying to see what we were doing. The men were gone for ages and finally returned with smiles of success and lots of praise for an awesome cache hide. Saved this one up for our Climbing the Peaks and will add another Fave point! A great night find. TFTC.
In Napier for the weekend. Enjoyed the geocaching event this morning. Headed out after dark to try and minimise traffic and being spotted. No problems finding the cache but then the fun begins. Took a while of jiggling before was able to sign the log. Thanks for a great cache.
Great cache..but you take your life in your hands getting to it..its like a race circuit watching cars go around the islandthanks for the cache nickhbnz
Phew really put our lives on the line getting across today. Parked precariously on a "side" road and headed over and in. Found added log but realised there was more too it. Soon had correct log in hand. Thanks for the fun

Making a nice early start to the morning we were glad of it when we arrived at this one. With barely any traffic about we made our way to GZ. The cache was quickly located and then we began to work out how to access it. Mrs Geckoh sorted that part and we signed the correct log and placed the cache back. Think some cachers have actually signed a log that has been added by someone who hasn't understood what is required. TFTC

forgot this one as i sailed past and will need to visit this again another time
Visiting family in the bay, so a able to spend a spend a little time out caching. Little traffic around and able to park nearby, then the decision on how best to approach gz. Quickly found cache, a little head scratching and cache soon to hand. Log signed and replaced as found.
4 October 2020 9:37 AM. What? There's a cache there? Fortunately it was relatively quiet on a Sunday Morning and we were able to cross over (and back again later) relatively undisturbed. Access to GZ proved a little trickier, but we spied a way through and got to GZ unscathed, and were soon able to sign the logbook. Cache replaced as instructed and we were on our way. TFTC, have a well deserved FP.
#8462. After two days of caching in the Wairarapa and southern Hawkes Bay it was time for Infoferret and I to head back to Wellington. But its a geocaching road trip so its going to be the long and winding road home (literally). We stopped here on a glorious sunny and warm Hawkes Bay morning. I noticed on the GPS there was a geocache in the centre of the roundabout. The traffic was still light early on a Sunday morning. So we parked nearby and headed into the roundabout during a break in the traffic. Quickly located the container and then had a look at it to see how to access the logbook. IF made the right moves and soon the logbook was in hand. Nicely constructed cache and a great concept. Signed the logbook and returned it to the container. Thanks nickhbnz for a nice big field puzzle and a different type of caching experience. Favourite added.
Couldn't understand the description of how to get the contents out of a container which was covered in hungry ants, so I just left a note in the lid.
Early Sunday morning was an excellent time, quick duck in between cars! Fun! TFTC!!
I did this cache a while back and after getting a hand injury which has made typing difficult I have fallen very far behind on my logs sorry. Doing my best to catch up now.
This one was got in the dark on a cold Hawke's Bay evening with warm company in the form of Bennett24. The standard of caches was very high.
This one must have been great when it was made but it is not quite so pristine now which is a shame. Not too much trouble retrieving the log here thankfully and got quite a few ants as a bonus prize. Signed in and replaced as found and headed back off into the evening to look for some more caches.
Thanks for the cache.

After getting Tuolei checked in to the hotel and having a break we decided to hit the road again and do a bit of night caching. This was the first one in the area before a few solved puzzles and like all such caches we picked a good time to do it while the traffic was quieter.
No problems finding the cache but it appears to have deteriorated a bit and top is coming off. It has also become quite an ant nest and many fell out while retrieving the log. Tuolei did the honors and after a little wiggling about out popped the log. TFTC.

We set out some days ago on a glorious late summer day for a few days holiday - heading first for Taupo and then onto Napier and back home. We hope to fit in a leisurely amount of geocaching, and as we’ll stay with muggle family some of the time we’ll be focused on them rather than caching.
Day 5 and after a rainy night we have another good fine caching day.
We left this one til tea time on this Sunday evening as we’ve previously found that a good time to do Roundabout caches as the roads are fairly quiet. We found our way in without too much struggle and the cache itself too. We weren’t sure if it was presenting properly re the string. We followed an idea in a previous log and soon had the log after that. Just as well too as it’s Ant City there and we didn’t want to linger and end up with ants in our pants! Thanks for a fun cache nickhbnz.

Have been planning these caches for a few weeks in conjunction with HKCB for a mad dash and effectively a 24 hour run (so that we could spend time with our respective families) for the rest of the ensuing weekend. Signed most/all caches as HKCD or some such other that we could fit in
Leaving Hamilton at 7pm Friday and getting home midnight on Saturday so that at least 6hours quality sleep was acheived, sleeping in the car is always a bonus (2 hours) and the remainder of the time caching around part of the country we hadn't previousley done a whole lot, but have left plenty for the next trip across the hill.
This was the seventy first of the100+ that we acheived in that time we were over here.
Thanks to all the CO's for the effort and giving some great caches, sorry about the repetitive logs but then 100 is a few to cover off.
Another fun rundabout cache to keep us on our toes
Thanks for the placement, thanks for the cache

We had been talking about cache bash in Napier for a while, and when Cats&Dragons mentioned a trip down here this weekend I couldn't say no. The plan was to head down Friday night (leaving Hamilton about 7pm) and then cache til we can then grab a few hours sleep and then cache through til late afternoon and then head home. The plan worked well, with about 110 caches found over the 24 hour caching period.
It was the first time we had visited Napier to do a caching mission, and we were both impressed with the genius hides (some we hadn't seen before, I'll give a special mention to those ones). A big thanks to all the CO's whose caches we found, for placing and maintaining them. A great trip and looking forward to a revisit.
Thanks for the nicely constructed cache.

Another fun roundabout cache which was quickly located, and it wasn't long before we had the log in hand. A favourite from us. TFTC
Our family came to Napier for the IronMaori 1/2 Ironman triathlon. The event went well with our team placing 2nd in the Men's division & 11th overall. This geocache had been on our hit list for some time. Once inside the roundabout, I was in my own little world with plenty of time to get the logbook out. This is a very well constructed activity cache. Didn't take long to work out what to do and soon had the logbook signed. A favourite point awarded too!
got up at 4.30am this morning to leave by 5.30am traffic at this time was almost nil great time to travel. have been wanting to grab some caches over here for the hidden creatures, this looked like the only place that didn't have rain didnt manage the amount I wanted but, turned out to be a lovely day and got home around 6pm thanks to all the COs who have taken the time to place and maintain the caches
this took age and ages before calling out a YES and that was after working out what I needed to do very well done gets a fav from us, it looks like the top might need some love though

Another night-time roundabout encounter. I parked up some way down the northen part of Evendon Road and made my way back. I had to wait for a few cars to move past before I made the journey over. Once there it took a little while before I saw a spot that I could force my way through and begin exploring. As with the success I found at another in the series, the container was not a difficult find. It took a while to finally understand what was going on, but once it clicked it was just a matter of getting to grips with the whole thing and I soon had the cache itself in hand. Another ingenious cache and well worth the favourite. TFTC+Fav

Finally got the courage to do this one.
Thought we might have been able to leave some TBs as a large container but not really possible.

ROUND AND ROUND AND ROUND, love in feild puzzles, did take a bit of time to solve but once solved it feels so good, FP from us TFTC
On my way towards Puketapu for some caches. However, my plans for the day changed with a puncture..... My geo-car (Suzuki Swift) had no spare tyre, just some goo to pump in with the intention of 'limping' to a garage. I found this was not possible, so I rang AA who sent a winch-on truck to take me and my wee car into a tyre shop in Napier - close to lunchtime on a Sunday. Two new tyres later.....
Last cache for the day, as I was heading home to Palmerston North, Thanks for the cache nickhbnz.

Day 11 and our last caching day of our Mega Roadtrip. Not much traffic abouit at 9:30am (where is everone?) so the approach was no problem. Neither was the cache retireval. I didnt even get to play with it.[^] As soon as Mum got her hands on it she had the log out for me to sign pretty quickly. Must be a trick to it and Mums got the nack. Another fun roundabout creation. Thanks for the smilie
Travelling back from Gisborne to Feilding after attending a meeting in Gizzy last night. Making good time, so I'm able to collect a few "must do" caches in Napier on the way back. I've heard rumours about the excellent roundabout caches, and only managed to pick up the St Nick's Grotto cache on my last visit to Napier.
My second roundabout dash in a hour - don't care, I don't live here - and the container was an easy find. I had been warned about this cache and was prepared to spend five minutes trying to extract the inner container. In the end, I must have fluked it, as it didn't seem to take that long to get the bison out of the bucket. Another excellent cache, another favourite point. TFTC

Who needs to join a gym when you can dash into some flax bushes and shake til your lungs burst and your arms burn all the while praying for a bit of luck at fluking the jolly thing in a very short time. Sadly I am not brave enough to stand and be seen shaking this monstrous cache which made it all the harder to squat and shake (leaving you with shakey legs as well). Thankfully I was finally rewarded with the find. A great cache. Well done.
Found the cache easily enough but unable to figure out the puzzle. Will be back to try again one day
Spent way too much of my Saturday night hiding in bushes and shaking things about. Was getting rather frustrated when all of a sudden out it came. TFTC Point awarded
What a mission! First we had to get across the road which was rather busy for 9pm on a Saturday! Then we had to find the cache which had us walking in circles and then getting the log!!! What a nightmare! After a half hour we got the log and then the pen wouldn't work! So a mad dash to the car was made to find another pen, log was signed and all was replaced! I have never shaken anything so violently! TFTC a well deserved fave point when I get home
shake rattle and roll but it does look sus the owl and I walking out of the roundabout mmm not sure about my reputation as this is very close to home and a busy area tftf I enjoy the roundabout caches
Yet another suspicious story of a middle aged couple (well, one of us is) looking very dodgy frolicking around in the undergrowth. A very quick find but it took us longer to do the biz despite that fact we were both shaking it as hard as we could, eventually it came out, so we did what you need to do in these situations, then slipped it back in again as fast as we could. Hoped no one spotted us, especially someone we knew!! Oh well, it's all out in the open now. TFTC.
We had been out and about doing a few caches and decided we would try this one on our way home - just after dusk. We always look forward to trying nickhbnz caches - he usually has us scratching our heads for a while , this was no exception ! Getting into the round about was half the fun - trying not to look dodgy and timing it between cars whizzing by from most sides was the first challenge. Finding it was the next and trying to remember what the description said - yes we forgot to take our phones in with us ! Cache took about 10 -15 minutes to figure out. Cache was located and signed..... now to get out and back to our car...... ready, no cars coming this way...... go !
Thanks again nickhbnz !!
Thanks again nickhbnz !!
With nothing better to do last night we decided to hit this one up. knowing the roundabout and it not having much cover we thought doing it in the dark would be better. No problem getting into gz and quickly spotted the cache. Having seen a similar cache to this before it didn't take long to sign the log and back out we went. Thanks for adding to your cool roundabout series. Tftc
Well this was just too close to our house to leave it unfound. We did drive past on our way home from work but was way too busy so we returned a bit later. We dashed into the middle and crouched down low so not to be spotted. On the way in one of us smashed our leg on something hard- turns out it was the cache.
The string was quickly located in the dark and then came figuring out what to do not making a sound and hiding from the passing traffic. Lots of laughs and fun were had. Retrieved log signed replaced and then time to make a run for it. This time we were spotted, hopefully by no one we knew. We recommend this as a night cache. Fav point from us [FTF]
