Alas, I was the LTF before the CO archived it in front of my eyes! Cool iconic sign. I seem to recall someone telling me it featured on a stamp. Possibly one of the least dumb caches I've found to date
#12,018. Park and grab on the Volcanic Loop Highway (State Highway 47) at National Park in the Ruapehu District, Manawatu-Wanganui. A few fast moving passing traffic, but fortunately GZ was all quiet at the time of our visit. Quick find. The lid had gone, but the waterproof log book was doing its job well. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.

Very boring, found it in like 2 seconds, could have been hidden better. Yeah just very easy and dumb.
Am pretty sure I found a similar hide in the past, another for the total is good though. East here though the lid was missing. RITR paper saves the day.
On the move from Blenheim to Auckland and I'm the advance party. I get to arrive first, get the rental keys, clean it, received the house pack and set up the house, collect the cat off the plane on Wednesday and greet mrs capperz on Thursday! Phew, a busty few days ahead it seems. But first I get from South to North and overnight in Bulls. A plan to catch up with our daughter later on Saturday left me with a few hours 'spare' so what better than to continue with the SHIELD series. I'd made a start one day over Christmas and with nearly all the solves done the puzzle pieces on my map were so tempting. A good day to drive around those back roads, less unsealed than I'd thought and only a handful of DNFs.
Today was the next stage of that journey and although the cache finds were less there was a lot of country to cover, and a deadline to meet to get there, less quantity, more quality.
Left Wanga-Vegas at 0730 and got to Base Auckland at 1630 so not too bad timings to get there in the intermittent rain and sun.

No problems finding this one, the first finder since lockdown restrictions have been lifted. There is no lid to the container so left it upside down. Maintenance will be needed however. Thanks for your placement vistra.
Down in National Park for a couple of days and today we walked way up beyond the Upper Tama Lake and had a beautiful day for it - nearly 20kms! I picked up a few caches on the way back to National Park, and this was one of them. The lid has gone, so I wrapped the log sheet carefully in the plastic bag, but it really needs a new lid before winter. TFTC
We found this cache during our holidays, on the way to Waitomo Farmstay!

During our roadtrip through New Zealand I found this cache "Skiwis Crossing (Central Plateau)" from vistra on 7 maart 2020 16:30. Easy find, maybe some informatie should be stores as hint . The container has no lit anymore.
Groetjes/Greetings and TFTC from a Dutchman (a long way from home, but home is here the heart is, on the bus).

Unsere Neuseelandrundreise Tag 7 - Alpine Crossing Tour für M & KLB12 und Tour durch den Tongariro National Park für mich.
# 39

Our New Zealand tour Day 7 - Alpine Crossing Tour for M & KLB12 and tour throug the Tongariro National Park for me.
# 39
At 8 a.m., KLB12 & M wanted to start their tour today. That also worked. We got up really early and I drove the two of them here to the starting point. They started walking right away and I was able to think about how I would spend the planned 10 hours. The first idea was to go back to the quarters and spend a quiet day. But in any case I wanted to pass the Virtual Reward - A Kiwi Legend (National Park) and it was in the opposite direction. So I decided to let myself drift a little, look for one or the other cache and enjoy the beautiful nature in the national park.
After spending some time in Whakapapa Village, I made my way to the Virtual Reward - A Kiwi Legend (National Park). I stopped at a few tradis. So here too. I wanted to photograph such a kiwi sign anyway. Here I had the opportunity to take photos and log a cache that was really easy to find. The can lid is loose. Maybe the owner should replace the can.
87 finds until the 5000th find. Will we still be able to do it in New Zealand?
Since my english is very bad, I use internet translators. I hope my log is still understood.
Greetings from Saarland/Germany.

Travelling down to Whanganui this week for work. Taking the scenic route and collecting some smileys. Sadly the Kiwi has presently lost his skis however I have seen the previous signs here and enjoyed them. TFTC
#1038. Day 60 of walking the Te Araroa trail and the 36th cache I found along the way. Not too hard to find, and I got to introduce the other hikers I was walking with to geocaching. I think they thought it was cool.
Thanks very much for the cache! [Here's a link to my Te Araroa blog post](http://teararoa.g2.co.nz/2019/11/30/day-60-whakapapa-to-retaruke/) if anyone is interested!

NBokkie and I are going on holiday to New Zealand for 3 weeks. In Auckland we rent a camper. We start on the North island and driving to the south to make the crossing to the South island. Here we make a round and then take the boat back to the North Island. A long trip, but a very beautiful one! We do and see a lot on our way............
In addition to being a tourist, we are also going to cache along the way. The virtuals and earth caches are often on tourism places. If we have a long day of traveling, we stop for some caches.
It were great weeks!

Berrydehamster and me are travelling in New Zealand for three weeks. We cross the country from north to south and back again by campervan, see a lot, do a lot, visit lots of places and meet a lot of people. It’s nice to be here and we have a great time.
As both of us are geocachers, we find a lot of caches on our travels. This is one of the caches we found. Thanks for your cache, vistra, that helped give us a wonderful time here.

TFTC log wet, tried to dry container and bag. Placed upside down to stop water getting in lid.
Yay, quick park and grab. Lid was missing but salhud found it nearby. Log really wet, could use maintenance. TFTC
Found with NZ SKYLINER.
Found with lid off. Lid found over a couple of metres away. Log very wet. Needs maintenance please.

Staying at the nearby campsite and had just said to Ra that I wanted to get a photo of a kiwi sign. Just our luck that there was one nearby and with a geocache at it as well! Little walk down the road (not sure what passers by thought we were up to!) and a quick find at GZ. Now back to the camper and some sleep before attempting a snowy tongariro crossing in the morning. TFTC
Grabbed this one after a day on the slopes with kiwitrecker1 and the youngest cacher. A bit of kiwiana for sure! TFTC!!
Grab this one on the way back to the lodge.
After bush bashing for a hour finally found the marked track to get to the
upper level only to have trouble negotiating the marsh area and failed to
reach the top of Hauhungatahi

Passing this way on our way home finally and now starting on the many logs which may not be in order or dated correctly but there abouts. used one of the several bits of paper.
We travelled north and are holidaying in and around the Coromandel staying in motels, with friends and in our tent while getting out each day to see the sights, swim in the beautiful beaches or go for walks etc as well as locating a few geocaches, of course. We have had good weather the whole time with just a few showers at night and some wind while at hahei.

During our holiday in New Zealand we have visited both the North and the South Island. We saw a lot of highlights of this beautiful country, but there is so much more to see. So many highlights, so many caches! The geocaches showed us a lot of special and interesting places. Sometimes a quick find, sometimes we had to search longer. A few DNF's, but that doesn't matter. We loved New Zealand and we hope to come back some day!
Today we have found the cache "Skiwis Crossing (Central Plateau)".
vistra, thanks for creating and maintaining this cache!

Pulled in to the parking area right behind another car that was just leaving. Without doubt they were cachers as there is really no other reason for stopping here but I couldn't identify the last log entry as the logs were on several pieces of paper. Oh well, easy cache and great view of the mountain

After dinner walk from the camp. The kiwi should up the mountain in the snow we see from here in summer!
Happy New Year to the owner! We stopped for the sign and I routinely checked for caches - bingo! TFTC from Germany
I've often admired this sign as I cruised past. Only now that its begun to fade, can you see that the skis are done in permanent felt pen marker. I thought that it was official...
Thanks for the cache.

The Central North Island, Day 4: Taupo - National Park
Today’s weather started of particularly wet but that tapered off a little in the afternoon before a light drizzle returned later on. Oddly enough, I didn’t really need to use a raincoat, just a windbreaker sufficed for most part. Some very unique landscapes along the way, and had a lot of fun exploring the Lake, Desert and Mountains of the region. A surprisingly very productive day for caching, too! A great Christmas Eve all round!
The following are the specific log for each cache:
Funny little sign and cache. Was glad I could find the time to drop by to claim this one. The cache was found easily enough, and of course, the photo taking ensued. TFTC!

Find number 4530. 2 years ago I met a German girl when she was doing the Te Araroa Trail on Pirongia. So when she came back this year to do the next section I jumped at the chance to join them for a couple of days. We had spent 3 days walking from Taurmarunui to the start of the crossing. Yesterday was a rest day so I took them to Taupo to see some sights.
Today they were doing the crossing so I dropped them at the start of the track at 6 am with day packs. I then spent the day caching around the area before delivering the rest of their belongings to them at the Mangatepopo hut.
After brunch in National Park I parked behind a car taking photos of the mountains (Well what you could see of them). They soon left and I was able to grab the cache. Thank you for the placement.

puh, was für ein regenwetter. hier musste ich schnell mal raus hüpfen, ein foto machen und den cache suchen. danke dafür von f&tr
Today we had our third day in National Park Whakapapa and made a trip around the wonderful walks here. Special emphasis had we on the vulcanic mountains around us. On this trip we searched, found and logged many caches, too. The weather was bad in the morning, not sunny, but it got better and worse all day long, including raining from time to time. Only sometimes then there was some sun to be seen.
Almost no muggels observed us as they had better things to do than observing two geocachers.
Thanks to vistra for showing us this location and for the fun we had at Skiwis Crossing (Central Plateau). The search we had here today didn't take too much time.
Greetings from Germany and hope to see you soon in the forest.

Have always giggled at this sign as I've passed it, finally stopped to get a photo of it along with the cache. TFTC
Up in the park for the day to show off the mountain to a visitor of our fair land.
Unfortunately it was raining and limited visibility so even though we drove up to the visitors center there was no mountain to be seen.
Fortunately however, I had no trouble locating this little number. It was wet but the log is of the type that doesn't mind.
Cheers.

I parked my snail shell up at the Ohakune Club and then gadded about picking up a few caches here, there, and everywhere.

A quick find whilst passing this iconic sign. Thank-you vistra for placing this cache for our enjoyment. Out caching with Will of the Wisp on our “Round the World in 80 Days” trip to celebrate retirement. Signing logs with our names or initials depending on space. Greetings from England, TFTC.
