OzHockeyChick was in need of some caches so we found ourselves on an afternoon adventure in Mt Disappointment.I have found bits and pieces of this trail, however today was a chance to make a solid dint in the series. Unless noted, the cache was found in reasonable order. Thanks carkisser for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to enjoy. ----------------------------------------------------------The Ballarat GeoTour ends on 4 March 2024! Be sure to find all the caches and earn the souvenir before the tour is archived. The [Farewell Ballarat GeoTour Event - GCAFQ8B](https://coord.info/GCAFQ8B) is on 18 February 2024.Are you ready to nominate in the 2023 Victorian Cache of the Year Awards? Start preparing by checking out the 2023 geocaching lists available [here](https://geocachingvictoria.com.au/information/great-caching-lists/) and find some of the new caches ahead of nominations opening.
Teamed up with RoamingHowie to smash out a few more of the Dissa series. Thanks for bringing us here by placing this cache, carkisser ~~
We recall when this series was published and looked at it, wondering if we would ever be able to visit and find any of these. In the meantime, we had moved to Brisbane to live for a few years, but now back in Canberra this area is a lot closer. At the moment, we are driving from Canberra to Adelaide and are spending a few days in this area to explore and also to do some Geocaching. We had a beautiful, warm morning out in the Mount Disappointment area, before the storms and rain hit in the afternoon. It was a lot of fun and we enjoyed finding a few of these along our way today. We loved reading the story on the description page. Thanks carkisser for placing and maintaining this series. Domsky
Find#6237Nice hiding place Found with the adventure boys during the Whittlesea mega 2022Thanks for the cache
Nice hidey hole. We came along this branch of the series to find some caches, and luckily we found it. Nice day for a drive in the hills.
Found by caughtatwork on 24/09/2023 at 3:38:00 PMWe have taken to the bush for some walking along the roads and track to see if we can find some geocaches. Most of our caching was done by foot, with the occasional relocation to a new section by car. Most of the caches we found were in good order with only a few with small amounts of dampness, nothing to worry about. Took nothing, left nothing. Thanks for placing this geocache here for us to find today, for without those who like to hide geocaches, there would be nothing around for those who like to find geocaches. The area is lovely this time of year, the weather was warm but not hot and the smell of the eucalyptus trees was wonder to breathe in. *Overall Experience: 3*GAFF1

Spontaneous Spring Victorian RoadtripDay Four: Wangaratta to MorangWeather: still superb! One of a handful of Dads Mt. Disappointment Driving Lesson caches logged today. I mainly wanted to check out the roads and conditions up here to see if I can get to the start of the WCW Challenges next time Im over here, which may well be in a two wheel drive. This is quite a series. It will take me years to do all of these. I came in from the north, and it was a shame to drive past so many caches, all regulars too. Thanks so much for such a major undertaking here Carkisser and Jsando. Its officially a mega.GCA1DNA The Great Leap ForwardAdelaide, South Australia, February 29, 2024.Wed love to have your company.
After a planned Saturday of geocaching around Lancefeild and sourounds, we found ourselves finishing up the day in Wallan. As a joke, I said to Mrs 4wd that we should just go to Dissa and camp the night and smash out the few caches we had DNFs on the power trail that had since been replaced.
Next minute, we were off into the bush and set up camp at Campsite #1 ahh the freedom of a rooftop tent and having the 4wd set up for such spontaneous decisions.. Caching is way more fun than the day I had planned to catch up at work.
I'm happy to have finished off this series

Thanks for the cache carkisser

Good sized caches, with accurate coordinates and good hints are making for a pleasant drive and an enjoyable day. Thank you for the effort you have put in to setting this trail for all to enjoy.
Today was my day to finish off the challenge caches on Mt. Disappointment and grab a few of those trad caches as we drove past. This is the second time up here for the challenges and today we were determined to get the job done. However we picked the worst day possible it was bitterly cold and blowing a gale. Every 5 minutes we would get a burst of rain then 5 minutes of sun just before the next shower of rain. Occasionally we got pelted with rice size hail which was fine as it just bounced off and we didn’t get wet. It really was a bit of fun.
The wind had picked up so bad that on the way out we had to stop and help a truck driver to remove a falling tree on the road.

Headed south from Brisbane to attended the Whittlesea mega. Depending on the log size and who I was with this is signed as nikid1, ND1 or TQ5 (team Queensland).
Second day up this way and we thought we might as well grab a few more of this series.

My 11th find to finish off the day. The ominous threat of record, flooding rainfall had not yet happened, so it was a good time to head home and bunker down!

Spending the day grabbing the rest of these Mt Disa caches, quick grab here. TFTC
Stopped randomly on the road and thought, oh I think there is geocaches here. tfTc
I have been intending to have a go at finding the caches on this iconic geocaching route for a while now. Today was the day, well to make a start anyway .. generally the coords and hints were spot on, unfortunately a small number of the caches we found were a bit damp but I still managed to make my mark…next time I will bring spares. We were surprised with the amount of people here, dirt bike riders, shooters 4WDers and campers… and of course geocachers. A few caches we had to give a miss due to muggle activity but got them on the way back. Apologies in advance for the generic logs! Thanks to carkisser and JSando for the series .. I can’t imagine how much work was put into the series .. much appreciated! We will be back to get the rest.. but maybe not on Easter weekend
An afternoon out in the area with +Wife and the GeoMutts.

After eating our lunch and paying a visit to Mt. Disappointment we headed on down for some more driving lessons.
Cache in good order.
Looks like the ripper only just missed it.
Some caches signed as NW+W, others simply stamped with a dyno-mite donosaur stamp.
Thanks for the cache carkisser & JSando.

TFTC, a great day out picking up another segment of these caches! A quick and easy find. The sunshine made for a great drive today!
Great day out with Bogonghazy on our way to Mansfield. Goal was to find 200 caches and we did.
Beautiful day and thank you for placing the caches. Will be back to finish them off.

Needing to be in Mansfield early tomorrow, LittleBoss2 and I decided to head to Mt Disappointment to try to grab some of these amazing caches dedicated to Carkisser's Dad.
We had a great day where the aim was to see if LB2 could nab 200 caches in a day, which she did. So many great caches, accurate coords and great hints made for a very successful day with only one dnf.
Our thanks to Carkisser and JSando for making our day so special

Came up this morning to do some maintenance on my Letterbox just down the road, figured I might as well grab a few more of these caches along the way.
Most caches were found in good condition but a few were damp or wet. Didn't look for any of the disabled ones.
Still wondering if this power trail is going to grow again?

Started the day with the aim of getting my 100th find. Got that quickly and finished the day with 27 total finds. Thanks Carkisser & JSando
We had our eye in now and found the cache quickly. All in excellent condition. TFTC
Finally, a weekend with no kids and (momentarily) lifted ISO restrictions. We’ve known about this epic series since we started caching a few years ago but have never made the trek from South Gippsland. We started on Saturday 20th at about 11.30am and cached steadily until dark, which was pretty early given it was Winter Solstice. The campsites were all full with dirt bikers, so we found a quiet spot in the bush to camp. A wet night ensured followed by an early start and we got back to the caches again. We only had until mid morning, but over the two days we found a total of approx 152 caches.
Apologies in advance for the generic logs! There were only a few DNF’s and we’ll log those separately. Caches were otherwise in excellent condition and the coords and hints were spot on.
Thanks so much to carkisser and JSando for this extraordinary series! We applaud the effort that you have put into placing and maintaining these caches We look forward to coming back and finding the rest
I’m back for the 3rd time roaming the streets of Mt Disappointment in an attempt to double my finds to 1000 by 29 Feb. Ridiculous! considering I was at #400 17Nov and #500 28Dec.

With permission of the team member who was in the local hospital we decided on a day our this time with a goal of collecting 150 finds for the day which will if achieved will be our best caching day and after spending the day collecting cache after cache we ended with 151 finds and 3 DNFs so it was a rely good outing today.
Sorry it is copy and paste logs most were nice quick finds some proved a little more difficult however most we very easy finds and some require a little attention from the owner for wet logs with it being a good day as it was cool to start and didn't get over hot during the day we managed to make the goal of 150 finds with 1 extra just to be sure.
Thanks carkisser & JSando for placing this series for us to make such an assault to collect so many caches on one day.
The log is very wet

This series was on the cards today, most of the caches I did were all in good condition, unfortunately it seems some of the cache sbetween 45-69 are missing due to widening of the road were I had quite a few DNFs.
Caches between 184-191 need replacing as they are all wet.
Cache from 180-140 are in great condition and were all quickly located.
Overall I had a good trip and a good few hours out finding these
Today was a big day out, well it felt like it anyway. With the rain coming out of the clouds early I was unsure if my plan would be put to action. After hosting an event in the morning the skies seemed to clear so off I went in search of some Mount Disappointment caches. After finding just over 100 of them I decided to pull the pin and head back to Melbourne to do some more interesting caches. Some multis were on the cards and some finals were located but due to the amount of high muggles frequency due to this so called thing of “school holidays”, I had to leave the caches. Finished off the day with an event near Marvel stadium and on the Spirit to Tasmania.
A great day out with 118 finds. A good few days in vic finished off.
Thanks for the cache

Today I headed out to complete the Mt Disappointment Driving Lesson series of caches. I really enjoyed coming up here again and its a really amazing place to take your time to find the caches and take in the serenity of the area. I'm pretty sure I found all of the remaining caches in the series and finally cache #62 which had become my Mt Disappointment nemesis.
It's an amazing area to explore and if you get the chance to camp the night as well I highly recommend it. There's plenty great areas to pitch a tent.
Thanks for the caches and for bringing me up here again.

After a lot of planning over the last few months, the day had finally come to get stuck into this series. I followed the route I had worked out without being sidetracked and everything went pretty much as I had hoped. I made my first find at 7:10am and the last for the day at 6:15pm. By 7 o’clock I was sitting in the Red Lion in Kilmore enjoying a cold beer and thinking back over a most enjoyable day. There was of course the odd DNF along the way as well. The weather was kind to me which helped a lot as well. A big thanks to carkisser & JSando for placing this and maintain this series. Cheers and TFTC
If you are not in a hurry then this is a nice little detour not too far off the Hume so here I am chipping away in chunks at Dads Driving Lessons which likely wasn’t a marathon done in one hit. Good day before the rain comes with little traffic - just a few wood collectors foraging around. All caches spotted quickly apart from one although a few a wee bit damp. TFTC series - I’ll be back for more sometime!
Dad decided to take a drive on a quiet country road and collect a few (hundred) caches today tomorrow and the next day. Mt Disappointment here I come. Find #[email protected] Note more soggy loggy

Well after a much later than anticipated start the Inspectorrex team got to work where we left off. Starting at cache # 138 and made it thru to cache #227 which was the end of a string and a long to go back to get to #228. As light was fading fast Along with a couple of side caches not related to this series. Apologies for the generic logging however these caches were all logged in the evening after the days caching was completed. A very big thankyou to carkisser and JSando for setting up and maintaining this wonderful power series. We will be back in May to complete some more of the series.
Thanks for the Caches from the Inspectorrex team.

I wasn't disappointed by a DNF here

Great day out with Team Justice, successfully completing this wonderful series in a day. The challenge has appealed to us for a long time, and it was incredibly satisfying to be able to complete it. Throughout the day we often marveled at the size and quantity of the containers you must have had at home in order to lay these out. Thanks so much carkisser for this astonishingly ambitious and well executed series. We loved it!
A plan was hatched with Clint & Abby over 12 months ago when we saw these caches come out over time. We could get 100, nah, let’s get them all and soon after a few drinks we decided to attempt the lot in 1 day. Time passed and somehow we found ourselves talking about it at a recent event (yes, and more drinks). Let’s do it after Christmas, ok. So, we meet in Wallan at 6am to begin the long day.
We had a few ideas to speed up our caching given we were trying to find 300+ caches in a day and that our previous record was about 60 in a day so this was going to be tough. We put the GPS and pens on lanyards do we could keep our hands few when getting the cache and didn’t have to pick up or get things out of our pockets. We did shifts of 1 hour, so one person did the driving, ate, re-hydrated and relaxed, while the other cached for the hour. The driver also provided the clue up front between caches as the cacher counted the distance down to the cache.
Now to the clues. Tree, stump, log, rock! We were getting a good chuckle over the clues, ‘beside tree’, we are in a forest! We found some of the ‘logs’ were not yet logs (i.e. trees), but they were close most of the time. We thought there might be some sort of random clue generator sometimes.
To the numbers. 330 caches attempted in 10 hours and 22 minutes. We had 7 DNFs and a total of 323 finds. This meant an average find time (including DNFs) of 1 minute, 53 seconds. We were quite amazed at the speed we could go and how quick you could find, sign and move on. It also comes down to the great containers laid out by carkisser for this power trail. Nice and large, and easy to find and extract the logs. We only came across one Eclipse time late in the day. Our biggest hour of finds was our 5th hour of 42 finds. This averaged out at 1 minute and 25 seconds per cache.
Overall, we had a great time as it was a challenge to push ourselves to get all these caches. We loved the layout and the effort to place all these caches. Thanks so much to carkisser for the caches.

I'm in Melbourne for a few day's with Horsesrule1990, heading to the event and to pick up as many caches as possible. Once the Melbourne Mega raps up we will head to the Gold Coast , for a few day hitting all the fun parks. Then heading back to Western Australia, and back to Work. Would like to thank everyone for there caches and there efforts hiding then for us to find.all Tftc.
Over for Parkville Event started early this Morning after I landed in Melbourne, with Becknmonts and Loulou0212 we saw some beautiful scenery, great fun completing this series in 1 day
After Becknmonts and I picked gabs1963 up from the airport we headed out to start our day, a beautiful quick stop at Melbourne’s first before we headed to start this trail, thanks so much for putting theses caches out, I really enjoyed them - definitely a first for me getting my geo car off the road and on some dirt - TFTC carkisser
I had a great day out today after LouLou0212 and myself picked Gabs1963 up for the airport. We headed to “Melbourne’s First” and then onto this trail as Gabs1963 has cached our her 450km radius, so she wanted some “easy numbers”. Thanks so much for placing this trail carkisser
16/11/2018 I needed some numbers to get my milestone of 21000 finds so headed out to Mt Disappointment to grab 100 or so of the power trail caches. Only a few DNF's thanks to tree fellers and dozers. TFTC.
We arrived in the area with a particular plan and that was to do the Dad's Mt Disappointment Driving Lesson trail. All caches were found or replaced (with the permission of the owner) Some still need the logs replaced but we ran out of supplies.
This trail was done with Hans and Linda, the jumping in and out of the car was shared, the driving was shared, lunch was had on the trail where ever we found a place that appealed to us.
Some shots were fired near one of the caches which startled the crap out of us. We did not think that you were allowed to shoot here. The roads were a mixture of good, bad and ugly. Thankfully it was dry it did try very hard to rain but all we saw was not enough to wet the car or us.
We apologise for the generic logs, this does not mean we thought any less of this series. We appreciate the effort that has gone into placing this trail and maintaining it, this is why we were more than happy to help with some maintenance.

TFTC. Our friends Jackie and Dennis (Muff1)had invited us to join them in making an assault on Mt Disappointment. We drove up on Sunday to Kilmore to join them. After putting a dent in the Mt Disappointment trail yesterday, our aim today was to finish the trail. We had an added incentive. We were close to 5000 finds and there was the pooibility we could track 200 finds for the day. The weather forecast did not look great but the weatherman was wrong . Muff1 had spoken to the CO and made arrangements to replace any caches that were missing. They will contact they CO with details of any issues we found along the way. We had a great time . We replaced 7 missing caches. We had never visited this area before and the trail gave us an appreciation of the area. Thank you carkisser & JSando for a great series.
Away for a long weekend of caching with Freddo and Four Fun.
Over 300 caches in 4 days means that the logs will be mainly generic.
The main target of our mission was to finish off the Mt Disappointment series. We achieved our target along with other caches as we headed east and then west.
My apologies for the generic logs.

Logging a find as part of the 4FW crew for this giant series. A lot of work has gone into putting this series together. Thanks to Dad and your helpers. All caches were found and logged. The driving was a lots of fun on a beautiful day.
AndyB84 and myself had plans to hit the Mt Disappointment trail and today that plan was realised.
We Arrived at the first cache around 9:45am and called it a day at 4:45pm before making one final sneaky find at the servo on the way home.
I had no idea what to expect in terms of numbers. My biggest day previously was 55 so I wanted to beat that. The next goal was 120 and looking bigger was 150.
We eventually ended on 129 finds for the day, doubling AndyB84's found count in a single day.
Pretty stoked with the effort. We cracked a cold one each on number 101 for the day.
Most caches were found easily with good coordinates. Some had wet logs, one was missing a lid and there were a few DNF's near the start of the trail as well.
The road was well maintained, we brought AndyB84's ute but my Magna would have been fine on these roads.
We signed most of the logs as A & K to save time.
Thanks for the caches

Since moving from New Zealand in 2016 I have been enjoying the area, exploring and finding caches.
So far I’ve knocked off 4 of the states. VIC, SA, NSW and A.C.T all multiple times.
No two areas are the same here and almost every place I go to is stunning. The beauty of caching is that it takes you to so many places you would never usually find.
Thank you to all the cachers out there for hiding and maintaining their caches. Especially to those who put so much effort into creating unique and fun hides.
I enjoy finding well maintained caches in fun and unique cache containers. No one likes finding a mint tin – but a find is a find after all
Well she was an American girl
Raised on promises
She couldn't help thinkin' that there
Was a little more to life
Somewhere else
After all it was a great big world
With lots of places to run to
Yeah, and if she had to die
Tryin' she, had one little promise
She was gonna keep
Oh yeah, all right
Take it easy baby
Make it last all night
She was an American girl
Well, It was kind of cold that night
She stood alone on her balcony
She could hear the cars roll by
Out on 441
Like waves crashin' on the beach
And for one desperate moment there
He crept back in her memory
God it's so painful, when
Something that's so close
And still so far out of reach
Oh yeah, all right
Take it easy baby
Make it last all night
She was an American girl
Well I'm a-runnin' down the road try'n to loosen my load
I've got seven women on my mind
Four that want to own me, two that want to stone me
One says she's a friend of mine
Take it easy, take it easy
Don't let the sound of your own wheels drive you crazy
Lighten up while you still can
Don't even try to understand
Just find a place to make your stand, and take it easy
Well, I'm a standin' on a corner in Winslow, Arizona
Such a fine sight to see
It's a girl, my Lord, in a flat-bed Ford
Slowin' down to take a look at me
Come on, baby, don't say maybe
I gotta know if your sweet love is gonna save me
We may lose and we may win, though we will never be here again
So open up I'm climbin' in, so take it easy
Well, I'm a runnin' down the road tryin' to loosen my load
Got a world of trouble on my mind
Lookin' for a lover who won't blow my cover, she's so hard to find
Take it easy, take it easy
Don't let the sound of your own wheels make you crazy
Come on baby, don't say maybe
I gotta know if your sweet love is gonna save me
Oh, we got it easy
We oughta take it easy

Wow! What a day. KmanNZ and I were out to find big numbers, however I never thought I would double all my previous finds.
WE got to the first cache at around 945am and kept going through to 345pm when the rain finally hit. All in all, we managed to find 127 along this trail and grabbed a quick one on the way home at the service center.
We signed the caches A & K to save time.
I would like to thank KmanNZ for supplying the beers which we cracked on our 100th find for the day.
Thank you to carkisser & JSando for placing this series. We had a great day.

#3123 A big day of caching with the aim to collect big numbers and collect a bunch souvenirs. The geohounds tagged along for the adventure. A cool day with the temperature floating around 7-9 degrees, but much fun had. A handful of dnfs but lots of finds. We found the coords to be pretty good, a few damp logsheets but no trouble signing. Thanks for all the effort carkisser and JSando.
First find by Mrs BGF, signed the date as 24th instead of 21st after checking the date back at the car. oops...

Back up at Mt. Disappointment today finding caches with the LalorBrennan's. In total there were 4 adults and 5 children under 10. I know that most people would think that we were mad to spend a cold, wet and windy day up on the mountain with so many young kids but we have always had fun up here, so much fun that none of cared what the weather was like.
In all I think we found 107 caches (it may be 106 but I am always the optimist), with only a single DNF. But the numbers have never mattered to us. All that matters is the kids, and us oldies had an absolute ball.
It was also nice to get out with the LalorBrennan's, after all it was them who introduced us to this great game. As my kids are now (their words, not mine), experts in geocaching it was fun listening to them instruct the others kids, especially the younger two, on the finer points in our great game.
To carkisser and JSando, I feel our thanks are never enough for all the hard work you put into our great game. You know that we always try and and give you a great log but I am really sorry this time for the generic cut and paste job. Certainly the drinks are on me next time we catch up. On our next visit to the mountain I will make it up to you guys.

Out with Smepster and Darcy on this miserable winter day getting a nature fix plus some smileys TFTC
Recharging of batteries for our mobile devices was required here, so whilst I attended to that dalerious found the cache here for us to sign.
Hume and Hovell were wrong. This place should be called Mt Rewarding. This was my 3rd visit here with Cybergran V and with the days haul of 102 finds (including 3 randoms) we now have 199 of this series completed and (when logged) all 13 virtual souvenirs currently on offer in the bag. Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou carkisser & JSando for this amazing opportunity to crank the numbers when most needed.
Easily found with little blue wren. A few motorbikes getting around now. But not
Taking any notice of us.

Since today was not raining I decided to head up here to complete a couple of challenges I was working on and the whole family decided to come. This speeded up a few of the searches instead of being by myself. We only had 3 hours but managed to get just over 50 finds in and a lunch break so it worked out well.
It wasn't too busy up here today with cars passing by but a lot of dirt bikes and trailers parked everywhere. Even a couple of people getting some free firewood in the old logging areas. A couple of bushwalkers as well and even a couple of guys testing out there petrol powered remote control cars.
We had a couple of DNF's probably because of the limited time we had...if we had found nothing in a couple of minutes we moved on just so we could complete the 50 I needed today.
Amazing change of scenery from number one up into the forest section and I wanted to find more but the kids were getting bored and we also needed to get back for my wife to work in our restaurant.
Half way along the section we were doing we noticed a few logs from people earlier in the day, never caught up with them at any stage though. (Sorry about the generic log)
Thanks carkisser & JSando for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.

This was one epic series, it had it all, easy finds, tougher finds, lots of dirt road driving, steep hills, bush bashing, open logged forest, deep dense forests and a leech or 2 to throw in the mix. Both me and TheSkype traveled from the ACT to cache in Victoria and this series certainly is one to bump up the tally which I personally believe is only for die-hard cachers. Do not bring a newbie here, it might get tough, zap their mind and they might never want to cache again. We camped at Andersons Garden campground and this was our base for the 3 days we spent caching. Thanks again pleasure to do business and explore this historic part of Victoria. TFTC. Day 2
#2568 Found with the Green-martian, both visiting from Canberra. Geocached in a 4x4 Outback for over 16 hours, over 3 days. Averaged 20 finds per hour hitting 30 finds an hour between #206 to #235. Found a total of 323 caches with several DNFs. What a marvel it was finding this series. All park n grabs with the car and GPS covered in dust. Weather was warm for April. Thanks carkisser & JSando for this epic series of caches.
Late log, sorry. Teamed up with Team Boomajarril during the school holidays with Floss the geo-dog in the back of the 4WD. An awesome day with 60 finds and 2 DNF's.
We love this series so a big thankyou to the CO’s for your time and effort in keeping up the maintenance. Teamed up with CorianderConnected during the school holidays with 4 kids in the back and the geodog (Floss). Signed log as CC & TB. With 59 finds & 2 DNF was an awesome day that we had been looking forward to for months.
# 47 for the day @ 1:59pm. OS found it first.

We decided to have a stab at 100 caches in a day and we did not arrive at the first GZ until 1310. We had a bit of a struggle in the beginning but ended with a good run. We thank the cache owner for the effort. 102 caches in total where number 244 was my 2000th cache. Thanx
