Logs
Found while doing the loop walk. Unable to write on the log as the paper has been water logged.
We approached this one a little wrong, up the private road and not the public walking trail! Fortunately there was a style nearby to hop over and close in on the cache. The log paper in this one was soaked and barely writeable - my signature is more torn paper than actual ink, I'm afraid. Could do with replacement and better waterfrooping.
A straightforward find. However, as noted by the previous finder the log book is extremely fragile, wet with damp, and disintegrated when written upon. We managed to sign with our name, but Ilmari_the_Red who was with us using a different pen just left a red smudge! A good spot, and quiet, in any case. TFTC!
A nice little spot. Sadly the papers are pretty damp. Ill return another day to drop off some new sheets. TFTC
Useful hint. Beware of hawthorn spikes!Log paper is sodden and fragile. Thanks for the placement.
Time to try and tick off this months challenge. There is enough on this end of the Queen Charlotte track for me to almost do it.An easy-ish find here. I found it at the actual but virtual boundary and replaced it at the virtual but actual boundary.
On a numbers mission today to get my quota for the month.
Planning to ride the QC track but first this track provided me with a warm up.
A quick find here at 9am

Staying in the Sounds for a week or so, so taking the opportunity to find a few caches that have sprung up since my last visit. Great to visit this area again, quite changed and built up since I did on Outward Bound course here in about 1988. No need for the excercise track then as we just ran up the road since it had no traffic at all!

A short getaway to catch up with family on the Mainland and drive some roads not travelled before.
We spent a few of nights in Picton and picked up some caches. Heading to Havelock today.

Beautiful walk along a driveway that I have never explored in all my years of coming to Anakiwa
Love the cache container, must look at getting one like that myself

Checked cache, in good condition. Cleared organic material from around the cache to make it more pleasant finding.
Out to do a cache check in the area so took the opportunity to pick up a few caches, We didn't know about this little walk up here so was great to discover some new area. A quick find and a great start to our geocaching day. TFTC
Out for a drive to check on Stretch0's cache out this way - we decided to pick up a few caches while were out and about - having read the cache page we parked down by the main road and walked up to the track start - what a neat walkway/running course - made our way to GZ up the walkway and Stretch0 soon had the cache in hand signed log Thanks for the cache
I am working on a calendar project, just three days left to get my small-cache-dot-days completed. So after work came out this way, as there are almost no small caches left unfound in Blenheim. Here I can get two - maybe start working on those one-days. Taybeedragon came along for a ride. It is full black out there, the sun set hours ago, and everything is by torch. No moon or stars either, if fact, there is a light rain. Not enough to be worth going back for a raincoat though.
Man, we made a hash of this one. The cache was in the first place I looked, but I didn't find it then. Taybeedragon also had a feel around there and didn't find it. It must have been 20 minutes of hunting everywhere, checking and rechecking before I rechecked this hide and found the cache. Man I hate that!!! The cache is a bit slimey on the outside, but inside it is all good.

Out with The Seagnoid night caching in the drizzle at Anakiwa. This one took way to long to find. We had both checked the obvious and then extended the search with the GPS taking us to that tree a few meters away. Nearly giving up The Seagnoid rechecks the obvious to a mucky find. Alls good for tagging thought. Cheers.
Having completed our 12 km mission on the bikes to get an FTF on the track and pick up a few other caches we had lunch on the beach then walked around the track. I never knew that there was a track here. Quick find and on our way. Thanks for placing the cache

I was at an event in Nelson yesterday when paddle chick mentioned she was looking to come over to see if she could find a nearby FTF to keep her FTF monthly streak going. She asked a few of us if we would like to join her.
We had other plans for today (which was geocaching at Lake Rotoiti) but there was no hurry for us to go to the Lake. I messaged GK to see if he was keen, and yes he was.
Then we had to decide which mode of transport we would use, kayaking and boating were discussed, but as the wind was forecasted to get strong during the day, that idea was only briefly floated. Then walking was a preferred option.
Another cacher suggested biking as she has a crazy schedule at the moment and did not have much spare time. So we decided biking was now the preferred option as we could cut our time down significantly by biking.
The other cacher decided that her other commitments should really take precedence so it was back to the three of us. We agreed on a 9am departure from Nelson, so I was a bit chuffed to get a sleep in.
We arrived at Anakiwa and unloaded the trailer, it was a picture perfect day with the ocean looking flat and the sky was clear. GK reminded me that I had ridden along this track years ago, but I guess a lot has happened since then as I did not remember that trip. So I was looking forward the ride.
Off we went, what a great ride. We take our hats off to paddle chick, she just kept going. I had expected there to be a lot more walking involved - but there was hardly any. I am pleased I was on an electric bike as I am quite sure I would not have kept up with her if I was on my traditional bike.
Once we had ridden along the track and back again we had lunch down by the beach. We decided that we had time to head around this track before heading for home. We wandered along the grassy path admiring the hedge at the house we were walking past, that surely takes a lot of work to keep it looking like that. Paddle chick soon found this one. She signed it and returned the cache as she had found it.
Thanks for placing this cache and for bringing us along this track, and of course thank you for the smilie

Found with NZDi. Last week NZDi asked me to come up with some geocaching plans that involved a few finds and a decent walk, so I started searching the geocaching maps for patches of green. I have come up with a quick and dirty list of three already which involves the part of the Queen Charlotte Track between Anakiwa and mistletoe Bay, Moetapu Bay and St Arnaud. The St Arnaud trip could probably be realistically split into two trips.
Today we decided to do the Anakiwa area which involved six traditionals for me and eight for NZDi, (there were a couple of caches that I found in the month between when I joined geocaching and when NZDi joined geocaching and two of them are passed today. This was the first of the day and one that was the first placement by someone I was acquainted with before I took up geocaching. This is one of a series published over two years ago and I can't believe it has taken me this long to find them.
As a first cache, you never know what to expect and tend to approach them a bit tentatively which was the case with this one and as a result it took a little longer than it should have to find. after hunting around the more obvious places indicated by c:geo, it was only when I was searching in another place and had my eyes at the right level that I happened to glance in the correct direction and glimpse the cache.
after that it was a quick retrieve and sign.

We started off on the road, which we soon discovered was the wrong spot when I re-read the cache page and we came across the stile near GZ. Soon sorted, but finding this cache was an issue. It is camoed quite well. To cut a very long story short, I overlooked it, and after exhausting all other options over the next 15 minutes I asked if Jo would have a girl look at the very first place I went to. Dammit! It took her seconds. Logged as Jo + Rich or something similar, TFTC Shhmule and onwards we go.
Today's plan was to head to Picton for a little bit of retail therapy. I ended up buying a personal locator beacon, something handy for those little trips out in the boat or for a tramp in the woods searching for these little bits of Tupperware as we do. And also managed to check out a reasonably new Med Foods store tucked away at the start of the Queen Charlotte Drive - a few goodies bought from here also. So it would be a shame to head this way and not throw in a few caches also.
We decided to head to Anakiwa. Found the three on the nice little track here, but it was a bit too muggly at the cache near the track start. So we will be here another day. Decided to do the letterbox puzzle around Linkwater, and another multi as well to get us up to the desired 5 a day. A good day out, and lots of fun. Finished it off with a coffee at Commodore Baldwin's place on the hill in Picton, TFTC to all the COs.

quick find before our boat arrived to take us back to Picton. great day out walking the queen charlotte track from torea bay. tftc. always wanted to visit anakiwa.
A quick find with TregearP whilst in the area - although I'm not sure that taking the car up the parallel private road was entirely kosha.
All in good order, signed log and replaced as found. Thanks for the cache.

Walked down drive as missed entrance to walkway and used the stile to get onto the track properly. Found the cache with KrisnKen after a wee hunt around. TFTC
Family picnic day and visit to the little libraries so a good day to do the loop track with StokesNZ. TFTC.
Being a former cross country runner, I had to do this circuit - although walking these days. Good series of caches, left a running shoe token
It was only when we got to the area that we realised this was the first in a loop walk. Mrs Sobad had changed to better shoes and so we were both happy to do the loop. The new shoes had better grip, which proved useful later in the loop. Not needed for the first part, which was a nice grassy walk to a quick find.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Today I decided to take a drive and find a few caches around and about the Havelock area. Well, Anakiwa was about as far as I was going to go today before I had to turn around and head for home. I decided to do the loop track and find the caches along here. Surprised that these caches have had so few finds. They certainly deserve more visits. This was the first one I came to and lucky for me it was in the first place I checked. TFTC, Biggles.
Maintenance visit before I leave to the USA until mid September.
Cache nice and dry, all in order!

It was such a lovely day today that we decided to come out here for lunch and a wander round the loop. Disturbed lots of birds from the trees on our short walk up to here. Second visitor out enjoying the walk today. TFTC #8641
A hankering to go get some caches this weekend, coupled with a few recently placed ones (with the exception of the dozen graciously placed by team W.A.S.P, they sound awesome!) had me with a plan for an early Sunday trip out towards Picton. Had a walking date with daughter to go up Mount Vernon later in the morning (didn't happen, ran out of time!) so time was of the essence and set of at 0715, yes it was still dark. Managed 2 FTFs, 3 Kiwimykl caches and a pukeko in a punga tree.
Headed this way first and parked at the suggested trail head which was a good place for a pleasant loop walk. Onto the nice wide and well maintained trail and grabbed the cache for an early morning Q E F.
Replaced as found, T F T C shhmule, my turn to get one of yours as an (FTF) [FTF]{FTF}*FTF*

Out and about on a grey afternoon - hoping to avoid some rain... Not a lot of muggles at Anakiwa today... only a couple of cars about. Parked at the start of this track - never even knew it existed...
Followed the line of houses adjacent to the track - nice to have some shelter whilst looking for the cache.
I thought on the off chance I might still be first to find on these 3 new ones.... hadn't refreshed my data on the phone and there was no coverage here. But no - there was one before me - thanks capperz.
Cache was tucked away nicely - thanks for bringing me to this spot.
