After the last event of the Mega this morning I decided to do a walk around Ross creek as it was a walk I enjoyed when I lived here around ten years ago. It was busy with families and dog walkers but I saw some tui and bellbirds and found some caches. I was looking at this from the wrong side and almost missed it. Tftc!
Last couple for the night.Arrived today from the Northern Island to attend Geo Toroa (Mega), as a group consisting of myself, HeMaLuDy, UncleSamNZ, keylev, NZ Travellers, and of course it would be rude to not locate caches as we left the airport heading into our accommodation in Dunedin.Signed in as SEAC to save logbook space and on our way to the next hide.TFTC.
After completing the night cache we just had to stop for a couple more before heading home. As we stopped a runner came out of a house (or perhaps had just 'pulled' over and it looked like he had come out) and came to ask us what we were up to. We explained it and then showed him the photo of what we had just found. I couldn't tell if he was amazed or just thought we were nuts! Either way he wished us luck and we both went on our separate ways. Thanks for the cache.
We are in Dunedin this weekend for the Mega with Stik-a-Crane, UncleSam, KeyLev, and NZTravellers. We have signed all logs as team SEAC to save space, especially as we know this weekend will be busy for all caches. We have landed, picked up the cars and the plane geoart and any other trads, multis, or puzzles we have solved are the targets for the day. We have had an amazing time and had very few DNF's for a very successful day with lots of laughs and memories made.A local runner (in the dark at 9 pm) stopped to find out what we were up to here, not sure who was more crazy, but then he moved on.
Team SEAC consisting of HeMaLuDy, Stik-a-crane, UncleSam, Keylev and ourselves headed to Dunedin for the 2024 MEGA!All logs were signed as SEAC to save paper (except where specific signing requirements were requested)Thanks to all the CO's who had maintained the caches as we found a majority with fresh paper and containers!Had completed the nearby night cache. Wandered down thinking this would be easy but had second thoughts when reading the description. However found an easy access and made a quick easy find. A local runner then stopped to ask what we were all doing.Coords BANGON!Fav point added for the Camo!
Here for a fun weekend with friends from Auckland to attend the 2024 Mega. All logs signed SEAC as a group. Very sorry for the generic plain logs. Thanks to all cache owners for placing the caches.
Well despite the warning from the logs, I too had a fright! Log a little damp but otherwise cache in good condition. TFTC
With my ex-muggle friend, out and about exploring the hills and geocaching our way back into town. Glad she spotted this one. Great hide. Thanks!
Out for a group walk round Ross Creek this afternoon. Did a short bush bash to find the Beetle with MsEvs and Mr O. TFTC

A return to the Tanner st stretch of this wee bush area and parked at the convenient gap to reach the GZ. Having spent longer than we needed to going further down the slope earlier in the week, the newly maintained cache was in hand quickly only 8mt from the car in a place that had been searched before. First to sign the new RITR logbook with a thankyou mention for maintaining the recalcitrant cache so quickly. Another familiar Coleoptera similar to all those PMO monsters I found in the Waihola power trail a few years ago. Popped the big fella back in the hide securing the pillcan in the familiar place. Left the way we came to check out an archived GZ close by and caught sight of a nosy neighbour popping her head around their gateway with a nasty look on her face, they will have to get used to peeps stopping here. *RTP 350pt*. *Have just noticed the new hint, that would have saved some time earlier.*

Checked out the cache and apart from a dampish log,all is well there. I noticed that there's been a bit of a cleanup near GZ , but someone's left their red and black boxers behind and a green tennis ball stuck in a tree. So I have done my own CITO at the site.
Strictly speaking the park and grab method is not impossible, it’s just really inadvisable! The barbed wire is no joke, and the kids would describe a cacher going in and out as looking “mega sus.”
Cache hunger got the better of me and I gave it a go while on a night caching run. Having done Beetle Mania up the road gave me a clue, and before long I’d found it.
Tftc Katie W for placing and maintaining; Will take your advice about park and grabs more seriously in future!

*Thanks for putting this cache out for us to visit*
Nice find!

Nice find!
Found by my husband and cousin while I stayed at the bottom of the slope...stupidly wore the wrong footwear! Loved the container, a favourite point awarded. TFTC
Had tried but failed this one before. Despite the logs I found a place at the closest point to the road to get through despite description. Fence was broken and there was a hole in the bushes. Must have walked past it at first but found soon. Just like the last cache a nice addition.

How are you supposed to find a micro geocache in the middle of a bush with no hint?
McLean team found it. Jen did the finding. Kids bashed in there with us and as you will see the wee 2.5yr old got a big fright and cried. All good fun nice cache!
Had to bush bash for a while but found it soon after I got to the right spot. I jumped a little when I first saw it! Great place. Tftc
Didn't quite follow the entry instructions as I approached from the opposite direction but the way I went seemed easier and very easy to access. Wandered round a bit then I spied the cutie. I haven't done any caching round Ross Creek so will be back to explore that another time. TFTC # 13,922
Had driven past here a million times and today was the day to stop and get this one. Was an easy find but could have taken a whole to locate so was TFTC
The CO had asked why I hadn't found this yet... so, no time like the present for tidying up long-ignored coleoptera. Found the promised easy way in, thank goodness, but not quite so easy at GZ. After a "short" time wandering back and forth, ducked under some supplejack and, okay, let out a bit of a shriek. Picked up a broken bottle and a dead net curtain on the way out!
Getting a few caches in the area. Quick find. Log almost full - About 6 spaces left

#6036. I had a workshop in Dunedin on Thursday and Friday. Decided to take the opportunity to stay on for the weekend and do some geocaching in the southern city. Rented a car and today I did a few caches up around Flagstaff. Afterwards I headed into suburbia to grab a few more before sunset. Parked nearby and beetled on into the shrubbery. Took a few minutes to spot the cache. Wasn't quite where I expected it to be. But found it I did. Signed the log and replaced the cache as found. Thanks katie w for hiding it here.
Phone GPS just here and there...
.... oh and there it is.

Nice bushwack up to this one. I was about to start going back and forth with my gps when i spotted it! And I found a nice quick way out nearby across a bit of pipe. Tftc!
Think we made the approach to this a whole heap harder than it needed to be but luck on our side at GZ, or geohound had a good memory, hadn’t realised she’d been there before with her true cacher. TFTC #73
Loved the container. Came in from Ross Creek side. Also exited via the whole in the fence
Took the hint to literally and walked straight past. Got it on the way back. Thanks.
A wee detour here on our way to Sullivans Dam via Leith Valley. Pulled up and then read the description doh! Drove a bit further down to turn around and spotted the way in. Nice quick find. TFTC
Some recent new storm water works made for a near direct route to GZ for us today. Cache all good. TFTC
Compass was jumping around quite a bit but we eventually found it. Gorgeous winters day in Dunners! TFTC!
Found GZ pretty easily and enjoyed the walk in the bush. Found the cache after rereading the cache description again. Lovely spot. Pleased that no muggles walked by and questioned what I was up to. Tftc
We walked a long way either side looking for the "nearby gateway" but the only one we saw looked worse than the direct route we eventually took to get to this cache, which was then a fairly quick find. TFTC
Took a while to figure out exactly where GZ was, but found it eventually. Nice hide! TFTC
Headed to do this cache and walked close by towards this cache. GPZ not great near the area. I started to go down towards the track to get better bearings and to my amazement I saw the container in front of me. TFTC katiew.
Found this one a few weeks ago with P&Vee but forgot to log it. Was a nice little wander in the bush with the dog. Tftc
Like so many others I am still learning to read the full description before heading off and so off down the road we went! Headed back to the track and started bush whacking well before we needed to. Very wet after the recent rain and I had lots of wet leaves dropping a surprising amount of water onto me. After a bit of a hunt found the cache. TFTC heading to beetlemania next.
1Sophie! and I had spend a lot of time looking for "Sweet Spot" we set off for this one. Once we found it coming back onto the track it was good that we had Sophie the dog wit us as walkers were looking at us, Quickly was said "the dog got struck and we had to rescue her" Have a fav from me as liked this one very much.
(Memo to self: Read the cache description, particularly how to approach GZ, **before** you set out.)
Bike was parked near Beetlemania, so it did not seem worth riding the 160 metres to this one, particularly as I knew that I was going back up the road to head home after the search. Read the description as I approached GZ, looked at the bush and decided that the CO was right. Slogged back up to the gate, across the park, down the path, along the path, down the short cut (finally the numbers stopped going up) and back along a different path. Saw a possible trail, waited for a few groups of muggles to pass and headed up the slope. Suspecting that accuracy would be somewhat compromised in the bush, I read the hint, which limited the places to look. Having found several perfect places empty, I tried a less promising one and bingo, there it was.
Signed the log, looked around and decided that the shortcut through the fairly clear bush and over the barbed wire fence would be (a) doable and (b) preferable to going all the way back and round, and so it proved, or did once I could extricate myself from the amorous embrace of a couple of vines.

Yet another classic container! A bit of a bash to this one, where a smile was instantly brought to our faces as we strolled around this series of tracks for the first time...cheers Katie!
A nice evening stroll to get this before tea at a nearby home. Great cache which was in realy good cndition
Found on 3/10/2016.
