Checked on this one while enjoying Florence. Fun little rock scramble although Ill remember to wear shoes rather than bare feet in future visits as Death ladder blend in too well with the pine foliage on the ground. Alls well here. The Machine is showing its age but is the inner container and log book are in pristine condition. Beautiful views from GZ which made up for the costly maintenance. Around $50 in fuel and a $322 fine for expired flares. Doh!

We had no luck. Tough climb too

#7225Found with Samuel737. Were staying on the island for a week (hopefully!) Day 3 today, with some marine activities cancelled due to the nearby tropical cyclone, we have more caching time- the weather is holding out for the moment too!We were hoping to drive to Florence Bay, but NPWS had other plans, so we walked from about 1km away. A bit of light rain cooled us off for a bit, then it was just sweat city!We climbed across the rocks, not having much luck around the supplied coordinates. Widening the search to about 10m NW helped a lot, with a fun cache found. The camouflage is degrading but the internals are fine. Found at S224 E774, higher up the rocks than we initially thought...TFTC!!

#7225Were staying on Magnetic Island for a week, well as long as the cyclone stays away, and caching is a priority, obviously! We were under the impression we could drive to the Florence carpark for this cache- but nope! We parked down at the Arthur Bay Beach carpark and started the walk, up and down and around, then a nice walk along the foreshore before a bit of a clamber up the rocks. Found the cache after a while of extending our search radius, nice container, but may need some TLC as it is starting to rust away. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache burgo78!

We sailed around from Horseshoe Bay this morning for a stop in Florence Bay specifically to visit this cache as we had guests on the boat to entertain on our last visit so were not able to get away. This time we took up a mooring, got the dinghy to the beach and set off climbing up the forested hill at the edge of the bay. It was high tide so waded through some shallow water to reach the boulders, then clambered up. It was a nice view in between the trees. Once we got close to gz, we knew we were at the right level and just had to search around for the hiding spot. We soon spotted it & what an awesome container! Very fitting to the title - we loved it! Must give a favourite point for originality. Lots of swaps inside - took little red 4WD (just like our Suziki Rozi). The container is starting to deteriorate with the salt air however so may need replacing eventually. It was hard retreat down the slope with slippery dirt & loose leaves to contend with between the rough granite boulders. We had a rest back on the beach then returned to SV Montage & sailed around to Picnic Bay for the night. *3651 at 1150hTFTC burgo78

I walked from Horseshoe Bay which is spectacular. Nearing Gz finding a way over the rocks was a problem to be solved. I found that going higher was helpful. At GZ I had to circle outwards until i found it at 8M. Wow was i relieved. TFTC and Fave Pt.

Had this noted down to get once we got to Florence Bay on our walk today. Unfortunately Optus service died in the area and couldn't get the cache to even show on the map to get navigation. (Make note to download caches offline more often).

Climbed out along the rocks for 150 or so meters to get to get far enough to get service again and load up navigation. Was a quick find once I backtracked up the hill to gz

Couldn't find anything, looked for quite a while. This may be my worst day caching of all time!

Caught the ferry across for a day trip on the island. Caught the bus to the start of the fort track. Saw 4 koalas on the fort track. Pretty amazing seeing them in the wild. Walked along the beach and up the rocks to grab. Liked the container. Lid a bit rusty but everything inside is good.

After burning through a fair bit of the morning with a longer than expected trip to the forts. Mr CNQ set off on foot from the refurbished forts carpark, which thankfully includes a water tap. Although now gated, the road is much better than it was in the infamous Geokluger adventure noted on the 30/6/20, keen not to let this one go again. Hike in was quite pleasant considering it was now after midday. Took a while to find the cache, may have even stepped over it once, about 10m NW of the listed coordinates on the GPSr. After the first 2 MI caches maybe we are as rusty as the container after 2 week break from caching. Container is still 'operational' and quite well concealed, considering the likely traffic in the area. Signed and replaced and descended to the beach. Then slogged back around to Horseshoe Bay for pick up and exceedingly late lunch. Track to Horseshoe Bay was a little steeper than anticipated and a taxing end to what turned out to be about 12 km walk. Finished off the day with a swim at Arcadia though. Thanks for an interesting cache burgo78.

I've finally found the time and energy to do the hike from Horseshoe Bay around to the Forts carpark so I've left M to pack up a little in preparation of our departure tomorrow. The climb up here was challenging although most of the problem was caused by my fear of snakes rather then the terrain but considering previous logs, I actually found GZ a lot faster than I expected.

Thanks for find #3522

Found on 14/10/21; find number 1478.

A nice, if steamy walk out from the forts car park. A short scramble had me close to GZ but it wouldn’t settle. I had a thorough look around where the GPS seemed to think the cache could be, but no dice.
I decided so widen the search and soon the cache was found. Thankfully the lid was easy to remove, as I had no tools to help.

I contemplated attempting to reach the bonus from the forts adventure lab, but in the end, opted for the trip back to the CD and off to relax on the beach.

Another great walk with a smiley at the end.

Thanks for the hunt and the cache burgo78.

The release of a new Adventure Lab cache has drawn me and my bike to the island. Amazing views as always for Magnetic Island.
The way from the forts walk certainly didn’t get any easier over the years. Now there are two boom gates along the “”road”” in order to keep tourists from using rental cars there. It was anyway a pleasant ride with the bike, but I’m not looking forward to pushing the bike back up the steep road.
This was the first time for me at Florence, as I usually went past it to other bays during previous visits. Certainly very full here today for a reason. Too bad I don’t have time for some snorkeling out here. The last hike up to the cache was steep but not to bad and offered a good view over most of the bay. The robot was found much quicker than the final of the lab cache on top of Maggy earlier today. The weather wasn’t easy on its body, as it’s pretty rusty now and I needed some force to pop it open. No surprise as it hadn’t been opened for almost exactly one year. But a great reward. Thanks a lot, great cache, great container, great location. Fav point!

I love the robot, was worth the trip! One of my favourite geocaches ever!

With some good management, but mostly luck we were able to pilot the geo kluger to the turn off to spot the giants. Here we watched a landcruiser troopy with off road tyres carefully pick his way up the washed out road. Rather than continue to exceed the operational capacity of the softroader we opted continue our mis-dventures at another location. We will have to find another means and day to get to Florence and the Machine.

No one said this was going to be a field puzzle. The lid initially seemed that rusty that i was looking for anything to open it, and i hadn’t brought my usually present leatherman with me. After having a go at it with my keys, i persuaded the robot to yield it’s goodies and the log, which i quickly signed and moved on back to my bike, wondering if i was going to get enough traction to get back up the last section of road I was game to ride down. Hopefully I won’t need a winch.

We did it.
Thanks.

With accomplished cacher KNTR in tow we headed on our way. Felt out of place wearing sneakers on the beach but they soon proved worthwhile as we commenced the rock hopping and climb towards GZ. Discovered Florence the robot resting nearby. Great novel cache. Gets a favourite point from us. Thanks Burgo78 for another quality cache experience.

We came all the way from Germany to pick up our son, who spent the last six month in the Noosa area as an exchange student, and discover this beautiful country. Obviously, a beautiful Country also has some very cool geocaches....

number 4 on this beautiful island! Nice cache, too, that deserves to be a favorite!

Time for some Magnetic Island caching. Made our way here on foot from Horseshoe Bay, felt like quite an adventure! Access to GZ and the search and retrieve was a bit of a challenge, but sure-footedness saw us right.
Had a bit of a chuckle once we spotted the 'machine' - gets a fave point from me!
Cache all in order; signed the log, then safely re-hidden, just as found.
I visited here with team cacher zboywonder. Greetings from NZ.

Just returned from my holiday and catching up on the logs from my fantastic trip. These are the ones my Mrs. thinks I'm crazy and too old to go looking for. But the hunt is a big part of the game, isn't it. Also, the road was an adventure all by itself. Had a blast scaling the rocks and treated to a great view looking back. Skinned my leg a bit but they only produced honor wounds. . Signed log and left path tag. Thanks

Our first day on the island and we decided to do some exploring. We drove into Florence Bay. I left the family and scrambled up the rocks. When I got half way up I went to read the cache details and found I had no service so no description logs or hint for help just my wits.

After hunting around for a little bit and the natives getting restless on the beach I decided to have one last look before I head down. I am glad I did because I found the tin man.
