WA Big Trip Winter 2024. Day 34 - Kojonup to William via Arthur River and Darken. After a long wet and cold night it was time to get going again. I relented and had a hot breakfast at the Kojonup bakery before starting. From there it was a bit of local caching and then the days drive. There was a fun detour to Boscabel where there was a nice hall and nothing else. Arthur River was another spot, this time on the highway where there is a lot of historical remains, but not much going on other than a road house. A bit of a surprise really. Darken was next to take in the County, but it was another very small council town. I finished the day in William but still needing several more caches, I spent the afternoon caching as well, the highlight was a nature walk just to the north. I ended the day with another great pub meal with a bit of a surprise. Tomorrow is another day near William doing trail caching for tomorrows target.I took a side trip to Boscabel and managed to find the two caches out here. This hall is quite impressive for being a long way from anything. It looks like it gets used at times. Thanks for the cache mikLovin47198.7 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & November 2024 Fenrislfr the Vnagandr A#537**Albida**
We are exploring Western Australia by collecting lgas, a great way to find places we wouldn't otherwise visit. Last night we camped here and made a quick find this morning while the coffee was brewing. Tftc
Thanks for bringing us here with a cache we would never had known this place existed . Nice quick find

Quick find, great location, you’d never know this hall was tucked away just off the highway Taken trackable for its next adventure!
On Route to WAGB , along with Spatial Riq, grabbing a few Caches as we go - Quick diversion to grab this one . TFTC
Thought we’d take a different route home and just happened to notice there was a cache along the way. Another cute country hall. TFTC
Stayed the night here as it was on wiki camps. Then thought, wonder if there is a cache? Bingo!

There was a tree down over the gravel road. It was so close to the highway that i didn’t want to backtrack so I removed and snapped enough of it that I could squeeze around it. Thanks for the hide.
A great spot to find a cache, stretch legs and explore.
TFTC mikLovin this is find #10558 for us.

Spent the night here on our way east.
Great spot with a lot of History. Tennis courts and cricket pitch all in disuse, a mark of our times as Farms become mechanized and amalgamated with fewer and fewer people running them.
Take some time to visit the small Cemetary nearby. Always interesting.

We hadn’t been on a road trip for a while so the long weekend provided an opportunity to do a bit of planning and set a course for Katanning. We followed a meandering course from Perth collecting smilies along the way. This cache was one we had targeted for the trip. Cheers and TFTC.
G’day there mikLovin, I was in this area today and found your cache Boscawhere? GC6N35D. I added my name to the log book at 1:05 pm on 29 February 2020. A huge thanks to you for placing this cache here for us (and others) to find!

That was a best guess. I had loaded the sat pic as my phone took me in circles all day and the coordinates where in the middle of the drive way. I took a try at the closest possible spot and was successful. TFTC
No luck here today. I spent more than my share of time here. I’m not sure about this one
I felt like should have been fairly straightforward but I’m not seeing it today
Up and out early for a road trip top Albany to complete The Great West Oz Road Trip, with 18 hours on the road we cached our way to Albany before returning home, we claimed a nice collection of smilies along the way and visited some fantastic places full of history TFTC
Headed down south for 3 days with Barnzy12. The weather wasnt the best, im not sure how may times we got drenched with rain. Found most of the caches that we went down there to find were found without issues with a few that took a bit of searching.
We met up with richlink and did the grove park series and also found the samuel de kock cache with them. Im very glad there was 5 of us doing the grove park caches as we struggled to find some of those caches. It was really hard in some spots to fight your way through the vegetation with the rain coming down and then we had to search for a preform tube somewhere on the ground. Number 3 must have taken at least 45 minutes to find. We were very happy once we had completed that series of caches.
We definately enjoyed finding all the roymerc caches and its lucky i have lots of fav points to hand out as they were very worthy of them. All in all a good weekend of caching and a big thanks to all the CO,S for placing these caches for us and everyone else to find.

We stopped by and found this on our way to Albany for the weekend.
We had a bit of a look around with the metal detector but only found lots of can lids and flakes of aluminium. Looks like an interesting place to have a sneaky overnight with a caravan.

Touring the Great Southern using Geocachiing as our guide.
We headed out today from Kojonup and did a massive loop of some 420km. We saw some great historic locations, old schools, old halls, so much information shared with us today through Geocaching. We often say WA doesnt have the history of other States but boy you did us proud today.

Another little gem thar we would not have seen if not for geocaching. Thanks mikLovin.
A quick find while we stopped to feed the baby on the way to Perth! Thanks for the cache and taking us to a new location!
Went on a road trip with grandma allinaday. We stopped at many places that I had never been before. We saw and admired many different wildflowers and orchids when we were looking for caches. The fields were nice and green, and I loved the yellow canola fields too. It was fun looking for the caches too. TFTC
On a bit of a road trip for a few days to find some more caches that are off the main roads. Stopped here for some lunch and geo granddaughter soon found the cache. TFTC
The name reminds me of Boscastle but not the place lovely dry container, despite the weather. Took a TB to move on. TFTC
Stopped in for a quick lunch break and made a quick find TFTC left trackable
We were on our way to Kojonup from Lake Towerrinning and decided to check this lonely one out. It didn't take to long to find so we went over and checked out the old school site and tennis courts as well.

** This is a late log **
The caches I am now logging are from a day out caching with Mrs Jackylegs44. We couldn't decide which way to head, so eventually hatched a plan to do a bit of loop, seeing how far we got, aiming to pick up a few LGA's for their team along the way. All up I think we covered about 550km today, enjoying the scenery out the back of whoop whoop and collecting a small swag of smileys.
Since then, many more caches have been found and shared geocaching adventures have been enjoyed too, so it is about time that I got down to work on all those outstanding logs, albeit somewhat late.
I appreciate all the effort each of the cache owners has gone through to create and place each and every hide and I do not for one second take it for granted, I just need to get caught up so I can return to my usual style of individualized logs.
No problems finding the cache. Thanks for the smiley `mikLovin

Thank you for bringing us here! Can just imagine what a bustling place it would have been with a tennis tournament in full swing!
Out and about for a country drive over the New Year's long Weekend.
This is why we enjoy caching, it gets us out and about seeing bits of history as we travel.
Found your cache and thanks for sharing this interesting spot.

Forgot it was the long weekend when I organised to go to Denmark for a few days. However being Sunday there was not too much southward bound traffic to cope with. Don't think in all the years that I have travelled the Albany Highway that I ever noticed the sign to Boscabel. Thanks for encouraging me off the main drag mikLovin.
Found a short time ago and finally got around to log the smiley,

TFTC! Had a grand weekend away with Cravo10, mugglewife and ItsKate visiting Albany and just about everywhere in between.
We left Perth on Friday travelling via every known backroad and side road known to the maps and maybe even a few not quite so known! Managed to grab a bunch of caches between Perth and Albany on the western side of the highway including a FTF at Boscabel, yeah Boscawhere?? Never heard of it either.
Got into Albany significantly later than we otherwise should have, but managed to get up early the following day to grab a bunch of caches around frenchmans bay, sand patch near the windfarm and further down towards Nullaki and finally around to Denmark.
Got the car nice and dirty on the back roads near the windfarm much to the delight of mugglewife!! NOT!!
Unfortunately the weather didn't work in our favour as we had planned a trip out to bold head to cleanup all out there followed by some kayaking to pickup the Camp Q adventure trail caches but the stars weren't aligned properly for that. But there's always next trip!!
We got up early the following day and grabbed a few caches around town before heading on the road back to Perth, not just Albany highway but every road east of the highway along all the back routes through cranbrook, tambellup, Katanning, Narrogin, high bury and finally back through Willian's with some side detours on the way!!
Had a great weekend and even managed to sneak in a visit with the inlaws who were more than accomodating. Thanks to all of the COs for the caches and we can't wait to come back soon. Thanks

*FTF* with the other two in the car!
After recently returning back to Perth after my stay was cut short in Albany by a year it was finally time to return. Catching up with old friends, cache maintenance, FTF opportunities And more green dots to convert to smiles lead to a great reason to head back down the highway.
barnzy12 and I had both been planning trips back to Albany and soon realised we had picked the same weekend.(well that's they story the partners are getting)
The drive down was not the quickest due to the intense deviation needed to clear the map however very enjoyable never the less.
All caches were found and replaced in good condition. Thanks to the CO's for bringing me to the great locations that I got to see and drive past.
Happy hunting, Cravo10
