The cunning plan for the day was to spend the day caching around the Katikati area with the hairy one KayGeeDee. I was here in March 2017 and dnf so it was good to be back to get it tftc
After finding number 4 in this series last week as we passed through town we were keen to return and find the rest.
We weren't looking in quite the right spot at first but soon zeroed in on the cache. It was a bit exposed so we covered it with some natural camo.
This is a great walkway, thanks yodabeach for bringing us here.

Enjoyed picking up these haiku caches today. Great spot here - my muggle hubbie found it for me. TFTC
I told my wife I would be a couple of minutes when I left her and the kids at Robert Haris to grab a cache. Turns out I grabbed two! Had I the time I would have liked to grab the whole series. Oh well maybe on another visit.
Found exactly where hint said. Had trouble finding the kauri tree though. Looking too hard I think. TFTC
Found this a little way from where the hint described. Thanks to my posse for helping
Definitely not in the “hole”low by the Kauri tree. Also scrabbled around further afield but no luck.
We are staying at the nearby naturist holiday camp but the weather is NOT cooperating. Mostly cloudy, often raining, sometimes VERY heavy.
We put off from yesterday the bike ride because of rain but today only got moderately damp cycling the great track from Waihi through the gorge and tunnel to Karangahape and back.
Now late afternoon and dry so walked the lovely stream Haiku trail.
This one not as close to the kauri as expected but further east.

Wir setzen unsere GC-Tour in Katikati fort.
Zuerst dachten wir: Kauri?
Dann aber haben wir ihn schnell entdeckt und geloggt.

Muggle was mowing lawn right by this cache. Gf pulled out the stealth moves and re-hid no issues.
A nice spot on the haiku path. Unfortunately, the aroma coming from a nearby dead bird is not too pleasant.
A nice quick find today after a DNF last time we were here. Thanks yodabeach for the placement and Merry Christmas.
Had to scrabble around a bit for this one, but finally got it. Now for the final touch of poetry... TFTC
On my way found a girl had slipped over and hurt her knee went to her aid and she was ok so went on to number 3 TFTC
22400 Traveling through New Zealand to see nice people and places. Also to find some geocaches.
Today we were went from Whakatane to Pauanui along the seaside, seeing nice places and visiting caches, along the road. on both sides. Crossing the road is not always safe. We visited the nice town Katikati to see all the drawings on the walls and to walk a part of the Katikati Haku trail with 4 caches.
At arrival we walked through the town to see the shops/streets, and cactch some caches near the motel.
Most caches were found quite quickly. A few took more time. Several were with waterproof paper, but our stamp and pen do not work that good on such paper, where when it was wet paper it logs fantastic.
yodabeach TFTC and the fun it brought us. Theo

Exploring a very nice little city by geocaching is a very good means to learn something abourt Katikati. So I found some interesting Boxes around the center.
Thanks for the caches!
Thanks for the caches!
Sadly every series has a DNF. Had a good look as per the clue but didn't even see the clue item. After a good 15 minutes looking, I had to give up.
This one took longer than it should of, a nice summer day today, sunshine

School holiday trip to Auckland/Coromandel with the family. After a couple nights at Hot Water, a few at Tauranga time to head for Miranda for our last night before flying home to Christchurch. Stopped off here for a look as we liked the sound of a Haiku pathway. Quick find and sign....loving all the haikus.
# 1099 staying at a nearby motel and with a bit of time to kill what do all geocachers do but comb the new local area for caches. So with DangerSAM in the dangerPRAM and JimmyNZ tagging along we ventured out for a loop walk along this very cool path. A lot of time was taken reading all the haiku. Some I understood and some were a bit over my head. This cache was a quick find by myself although i was dubious at first that the hint item existed on my approach. Guess i always expect those things to be massive. All clean and tidy inside. Thanks yodabeach for the cache and bringing me here.
Down this way for a family trip with Gr33nslime and DangerSAM to visit other family nearby. I have never stayed in Katikati before and I choose our accommodation with some good luck as it appears to be surrounded by caches. This cache was one of several that we snagged over the weekend as we took time to walk around the mural capital of new Zealand. A really tidy and vibrant looking little township. You can tell they take real pride here and they have some great local cachers who have done there bit to snag a few more tourists. Thanks for placing a cache here, it provided us with a little more motivation to get in to this corner of Katikati and is was very much worth it.
Well I very much appreciated most of the haiku along this path. By that I mean those that I got, so how ever were well above my understanding and rye sense of humor. Thanks for taking us out this way.

Nice stroll on a Saturday morning. No muggles in site. Our third one of the series. Thanks for these caches.
Easy find but not impressed with the dog poo I put my hand in in the process! TFTC

One of two caches found in Katikati today during a brief coffee stop. Took a few moments to locate this one after a bit of “rummaging around”. The man sitting outside one of the nearby houses may have wondered what was going on, but let him wonder (if in fact he was taking any notice)! #1858. TFTC.
Kids found easily. They did have to rummage a little once we noticed the small Kauri tree.
Frustrated as everyone else said easy. I'm probably just having g a bad caching day
Always enjoy our walks around here, even better with some caches to find. No problem with the cache TFTC.
Nice easy find. Doing the walk with the two kids. Decided to do a bit of caching on the way. TFTC.
Stopped for lunch and the Haiku caches. I thought the suspension bridge with all the carvings was really neat. TFTC
Found with VikingNav today while exploring the area. Thanks for the fun cache! >^..^
Have lived in the Bay my whole life but I'll admit have never walked the haiku pathway until today....was quite confused when reading them as I thought all haikus had to be 5-7-5 layout. They were nice nonetheless! A worker was water blasting on the bridge so I quickly ran past him trying not to get blasted! Found the cache quickly, was uncovered so tried to cover it up well after returning. Thanks for the cache.
We are on the way to Coromandel-peninsula. This is a break for stretch and find Sommer caches. Tftc
Another one missing in action - have replaced this one in the hollow beside the kauri tree
Looked everywhere but no sign of anything. Looked in the floor as it could have fallen off but still no luck.
I'll have to check on this one, looks like it needs replacing. Thanks for the logs!
No luck for us today, checked on the ground in case it had fallen down but couldn't find anything.
Its Mothers Day and as I had done the dutiful son thing yesterday I managed to have a free day, so with permission from the better half I had a morning free (with a promise to be home mid afternoon). So with that in mind it was time to hit the area and see what I could scrounge up in a bit of a clean out between Waihi and Te Puna without too much work.
So Setting out at 6am (slept in) this was my twenty second for the day as it had always been on the to do list. Thanks to all the cache owners that work to make this an enjoyable day out in the Autumn sunshine. All logs signed C&D or Cats&Dragons.
I recall when there was only the one cache in this area which seems so long ago. Having collected the caches in waihi that I was time to work my way down here. Have not really ever looked aroung Katikati so this was a chance. Nice little area for a walk and well laid out surroundings. Will be interesting to see once they finish the new cycle bridge in the area (further down the park).
Thanks for the cache, Thanks for the placement

I thought this was going to take a while but as luck would have it it was in the first place I looked. Cache container came of the wire so tried to reattach it as best I could but not sure how long it will last.TFTC
We spent a few minutes searching the hint object but no joy for us today. Thanks anyway, we enjoyed the walk.
We are keen geocachers from Tauranga, so quite local really. Luckily our little one threw a wobbly here, which covered up our antics really well. Then it took a bit of time to find, hidden in a good spot. Cache is all good. TFTC
1.10pm. Went all round under this spreading cabbage tree before reaching the cache just before where we started. Another favourite here.
Thank you. David and Noeline.

With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... Clearing a few more Tauranga caches. The heavy rain from the past two days seems to be clearing at last...
We guesstimated where ground zone was, and we were right... Ground zone was far more extensive than we anticipated, and a 'hanging' cache in this environment was a challenge. We thought we knew what to expect here. But it took a lot of circling and changed perspectives to find this one. Finally, we caught sight of it. Don't know how we missed that. TFTC.
