At it again for another brilliant day with carmlee1, our goal this time is to crack 100 finds for the day Another miss, searched everywhere but to no avail
Today is Groundhog Day #1, decided to head out and grind this trail. TFTC. I was only with my Garmin eTrex 32x, trusty pen or 2, some supplies and my ute. TFTC
Domani all'alba partiamo per l'Australia... Abbiamo firmato 2024 NE (NitiFlex e Eletab)Thanks Owner

These Mt Disappointed caches have been on my to-do list since I started caching 2 years ago. Today, I finally made my way to find and sign Vic's 1st cache and with a few hours to spare before catching up with my sister. I thought it was now or never to start these epic caches. I didn't know how far I would get nor really what to expect.. This was one of the caches found today as l meandered across the mountain. Sighted my first muggle car after about 2 hours of being on the mountain.
A trip to this region of the Australia was planned. In order to search and find a few caches here, various caches were dragged onto the Garmin. When we got here we saw a nice power trail. Without further ado, we organized various groceries to make ends meet. Filled up the rental car again and off we went. Our 4 WD-Truck is ready for this trip! After some time of starting this challenge, we came across here as well. We had to search a little longer for one or the other cache. Thanks to the owner for laying, caring for and guiding. TFTCKind regards from Germany ????
Waking up in Rutherglen this morning, it was raining cats and dogs. So we decided to head south where the skies were clearer and attack some more of the Mt Disappointment series. We had been here a few years back and did a chunk of them, so it was good to be able to revisit today and knock off a heap more. We only have a small handful left plus the challenge caches left up here to do after this trip.
A lot of the older caches need some loving, the logs were pretty bad at some of them but it was great to see a heap of original containers (loved the ones with the engraved lids). We were fortunate with the weather here, only one small shower and the roads were in pretty good condition. Seen lots of muggles with their trailers and chainsaws which was concerning (being there are allocated firewood collection points for muggles).
Thanks for the trail carkisser & JSando, apologies for the cut/paste logs, glad to be able to get some more smilies up here. Thanks for the fun day out in the mud FFLL

It was pouring rain when we woke this morning so Rapidlywild and I decided to head up to Mt. Disappointment to hopefully get out of the rain and try to finish off this trail that we had started a few years ago. We were lucky to have a clear day with one quick shower while on the trails. A successful day although we still have a few to go as well as the challenges, we will be back one day.
This trail could really do with a maintenance run and some TLC. But there are also still a lot of original caches here too which was good to see.
Thanks for the trail carkisser & JSando and thanks Rapidlywild for a fun and busy day.

This is my first trip outside New Zealand and caching in Melbourne I enjoyed getting this cache with Team SPINZ tftc
On our way to the Rutherglen mega, we decided Mt Disappointment would be a good place to start. We really loved chasing down the caches and enjoyed the whole experience. - The eucalypts with the occasional other species here and there, charred trunks everywhere, the echidna, the leech, the kangaroos, all part of the Australian landscape. Thanks for setting up and maintaining this series.
I visited Mt Disappointment back in 2016 on my last trip to Victoria for the Surf Coast Mega so we skipped those i had already found and concentrated on the rest. Found on our Rutherglen Mega trip, all logs signed as SPINZ (Sidewaze, Paddle Chick, Isis58 and Nanzie from NZ). Sorry about the cut and paste logs. TFTC

Found on our way to the Rutherglen as part of the SPINZ team over from Aotearoa/New Zealand for the Mega. Enjoying the stop/start drive along the trail thanks carkisser & JSando. ASpotted our first kangaroos of the trip in the nearby camp. TFTC # 18,931
Our previous visit to Mount Disappointment was back in November 2016. A short time later, additional caches were added to the series and they were added to our "to do" list. However a number of factors (including covid) meant that our next visit was five years later. Today we went to look for all of the caches published since our previous visit and to revisit some of the caches we DNFd previously.
The first thing we noticed today was the condition of the roads - they are in much better repair than five years ago. Reasonably accurate coordinates and the hint led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks carkisser & JSando for this cache and the series.

Out to grab a few geocaches to bump up my total as I’m approaching 10 years of geocaching and I’m just shy of 10,000 geocache finds, can I make the milestone on my anniversary, I’m damn sure going to try.
An early start from home had me arriving at the first cache at 8:15 am and I headed for home after my last cache at 2:20 pm. Six and a half hours on the road for four hours geocaching. Once I finish these logs I’m going to need a glass of wine
Visited 112 Mount Disappointment geocaches today, found 108 and didn’t find 4, a good day by all accounts.
All geocaches were found in generally good condition except where noted otherwise.
**Thanks for placing this cache carkisser**

We’re all going to Wangaratta to participate in Victoria’s next Mega!

Needing to be in Mansfield early tomorrow, LittleBoss2 and I decided to head to Mt Disappointment to try to grab some of these amazing caches dedicated to Carkisser's Dad.
We had a great day where the aim was to see if LB2 could nab 200 caches in a day, which she did. So many great caches, accurate coords and great hints made for a very successful day with only one dnf.
Our thanks to Carkisser and JSando for making our day so special

Last week I struggled with mobi reception and returned today with my GPSr aka Mr Garmin Managed to make a dent in the powertrail with good coords, great hints, reliable hides, and nice sunny weather

With a few days holiday in Flowerdale how could we not tackled some of this monstrous series.
Our aim was maybe 100 and put our name in the Final logbook.
Final logbook will now need to wait. It’s not as easy as the others. Ha.
Great to see the trees making a comeback. Maybe the wildlife will do the same soon.

Found at 11.45am. Another fine day for a walk in the forest. We parked at Film track and did a circuit walk to No 1 camp and return. Lovely isolated tracks. Again no traffic around, just perfect. This will be a generic report as all caches are very similar in design.
We then wandered down to No 1 camp for a look and headed back to the car via No. 15 tree track. All in all a lovely way to spend to hrs and walk the dog 7kms. Looking forward to our next walk in our Mt Disappointment walking adventure.

With the CWA's history dating back to the 1920s, its members have a long and well-established reputation for being wonderful cooks. The traditions of the CWA are reflected in the recipes in Country Women's Association Country Classics: Over 400 Favourite Recipes. CWA members were asked to contribute their classic country recipes. The recipes are time-honoured and use easily obtained ingredients to make nutritious food.

Mrs Pat Punch, chairman of the show catering committee of the CWA of Victoria
"We've been associated with the Royal Melbourne Show since 1935 but we built the annex back in 1954. We bake the scones today in the same green enamel Federal Gas Oven that was used back then. We have 24 ladies come down to help out for the whole 11 days and we all stay at the CWA club. It's like a family: there is great camaraderie between us all. We love sitting down for dinner and having a chat about the day and all the funny things that have happened. Yes, it is a big commitment but we love it, and we raise a lot of money."
Ingredients
8 cups self-raising flour
1 teaspoon salt
500ml cream
750-800ml milk
melted butter
Method
Preheat oven to 250°C and grease baking trays.
Add the cream to the sifted flour and salt with enough milk to mix to a soft dough. Roll out and cut into a decent size. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes.
When cooked, brush tops and bottoms with melted butter. It removes any flour and helps to keep them nice and soft.
.
.
We continued on through the area for a total of 28 finds and 1 DNF.
A fair afternoon and probably our biggest day in over a year.

We had been to My Disappointment once before on a challenge to do 100 caches in one day. Well, today we had a goal to try for 200 caches in one day. It had seemed like a great idea, but we got out of the house late and didn't make it to out first cache (#271) until 8.26am.
One might ask, why endeavour to do 200 caches in one day? Well, at the start of the new year Tally Tiger made a new years resolution: Team ZACAATT would find 1,000 caches in one year. So, we thought, why not get a head start while we still have time!
Well, not everything went to plan and we only found 150 caches. (Not a bad endeavour, but not our ultimate goal). Google lead us on a very round about route that we had not expected. We drove up, a sleepy geodog resting his head on AngéliqueAnja's lap most of the way up.
We arrived at the first cache and averaged about twenty caches an hour, where we found cache after cache. While many were wet or soggy, even a little moldy we found all but one despite GPS that would jump all over the place, leading us up and down in some places as we relied on geosenses to help us find the cache! 150 caches and only 1 DNF seem like a pretty impressive feat.
Thanks for the cache. carkisser & JSando

Great day out with MasterSquix knocking off most of my remaining unfound caches in the series. Just one DNF, number 320, and a one requiring a new log - #248. This was our first.
After the first couple of caches, we logged them as MMS - Muzza, MasterSquix.
Thanks to carkisser & JSando for the cache.

With permission of the team member who was in the local hospital we decided on a day our this time with a goal of collecting 150 finds for the day which will if achieved will be our best caching day and after spending the day collecting cache after cache we ended with 151 finds and 3 DNFs so it was a rely good outing today.
Sorry it is copy and paste logs most were nice quick finds some proved a little more difficult however most we very easy finds and some require a little attention from the owner for wet logs with it being a good day as it was cool to start and didn't get over hot during the day we managed to make the goal of 150 finds with 1 extra just to be sure.
Thanks carkisser & JSando for placing this series for us to make such an assault to collect so many caches on one day.

Après un premier passage en mai 2017, me revoici pour finir cette série de caches. La journée est magnifique et la balade sera tout aussi agréable
It has been quiet awhile since I was last up here so I made the decision to to come up early this morning and tackle a bit more of the series starting at #52 and seeing where I end up.
It was nice and cool this morning but the sun came out and warmed up the place.
The roads were quiet as well with only the occasional car passing by.
I have ridden, driven and walked a lot of the tracks around here and have even stayed at No 1 camp a couple of times, I just love this place.
Due to the logging in the area these roads are in great condition and a pleasure to drive, but I must admit I have missed seeing a couple of drains while pulling over, the poor Mitzi is getting a hard time due to me.
Another road off the main road so that means a few more caches to find and also I get to explore a different area.
You guys have done a great job in putting this series out and keeping up the maintenance as well as I know that can be a lot of work.
Thanks carkisser & JSando TFTC.

Day 1 - out and about on our quest to log 80 finds. Beautiful area. Beautiful story. TFTC and to carkisser and JSando for placement and to all who help maintain this series for others to enjoy. (Log 1:80)
“Tell your sister I am delighted to hear of her improvement on the harp; and pray let her know that I am quite in raptures with her beautiful little design for a table, and I think it infinitely superior to Miss Grantley’s.”
“Will you give me leave to defer your raptures till I write again? At present I have not room to do them justice.”
“Oh! it is of no consequence. I shall see her in January. But do you always write such charming long letters to her, Mr. Darcy?”
“They are generally long; but whether always charming it is not for me to determine.”
“It is a rule with me, that a person who can write a long letter with ease, cannot write ill.”
“That will not do for a compliment to Darcy, Caroline,” cried her brother, “because he does not write with ease. He studies too much for words of four syllables. Do not you, Darcy?”
“My style of writing is very different from yours.”
“Oh!” cried Miss Bingley, “Charles writes in the most careless way imaginable. He leaves out half his words, and blots the rest.”
“My ideas flow so rapidly that I have not time to express them—by which means my letters sometimes convey no ideas at all to my correspondents.”

QUEEN GERTRUDE
I will not speak with her.
Gentleman
She is importunate, indeed distract:
Her mood will needs be pitied.
QUEEN GERTRUDE
What would she have?
Gentleman
She speaks much of her father; says she hears
There's tricks i' the world; and hems, and beats her heart;
Spurns enviously at straws; speaks things in doubt,
That carry but half sense: her speech is nothing,
Yet the unshaped use of it doth move
The hearers to collection; they aim at it,
And botch the words up fit to their own thoughts;
Which, as her winks, and nods, and gestures
yield them,
Indeed would make one think there might be thought,
Though nothing sure, yet much unhappily.
HORATIO
'Twere good she were spoken with; for she may strew
Dangerous conjectures in ill-breeding minds.
QUEEN GERTRUDE
Let her come in.
To my sick soul, as sin's true nature is,
Each toy seems prologue to some great amiss:
So full of artless jealousy is guilt,
It spills itself in fearing to be spilt.
OPHELIA
Where is the beauteous majesty of Denmark?
QUEEN GERTRUDE
How now, Ophelia!
OPHELIA
[Sings]
How should I your true love know
From another one?
By his cockle hat and staff,
And his sandal shoon.
QUEEN GERTRUDE
Alas, sweet lady, what imports this song?
I will not speak with her.

We love this series so a big thankyou to the CO’s for your time and effort in keeping up the maintenance. Teamed up with CorianderConnected during the school holidays with 3 kids in the back and the 2 geo-dogs (Minks & Poppy). With a record 102 finds in one day over 5 ½ hrs, & 4 DNF’s it was an awesome day that we had been looking forward to for months.
#90 for the day @ 3:14pm. OS found it.

Mission also accomplished and another string of Dads lessons completed but it did take a few hours so looking forward to a G&T and kicking back. All containers in good condition with just a couple a tad damp. Happy and glad to be doing these before Joe Blakes get too active not that I mind the handsome reptiles from afar. TFTC and the drive- be back again when I’ve recovered from this lot!
12th of 35. More than a third of the way there, and a decision to make left, right, or straight ahead?

Found this one today as we went about cleaning up the balance of the Dad's Mount Disappointment Driving Lesson series today. carkisser and JSando have done a wonderful job in setting up and maintaining this series, to them a very big Thank You from the InspectorrexTeam for all of these caches.
Today I headed out to complete the Mt Disappointment Driving Lesson series of caches. I really enjoyed coming up here again and its a really amazing place to take your time to find the caches and take in the serenity of the area. I'm pretty sure I found all of the remaining caches in the series and finally cache #62 which had become my Mt Disappointment nemesis.
It's an amazing area to explore and if you get the chance to camp the night as well I highly recommend it. There's plenty great areas to pitch a tent.
Thanks for the caches and for bringing me up here again.

After a lot of planning over the last few months, the day had finally come to get stuck into this series. I followed the route I had worked out without being sidetracked and everything went pretty much as I had hoped. I made my first find at 7:10am and the last for the day at 6:15pm. By 7 o’clock I was sitting in the Red Lion in Kilmore enjoying a cold beer and thinking back over a most enjoyable day. There was of course the odd DNF along the way as well. The weather was kind to me which helped a lot as well. A big thanks to carkisser & JSando for placing this and maintain this series. Cheers and TFTC
Out for our second trip to mount disappointment, KmanNZ and I decided to better our first trip by finding 150 caches. It took us 7 hours with a beer stop in the middle until we finally made our goal with zero DNF's. TFTC

Since moving from New Zealand in 2016 I have been enjoying the area, exploring and finding caches.
So far I’ve knocked off 4 of the states. VIC, SA, NSW and A.C.T all multiple times.
No two areas are the same here and almost every place I go to is stunning. The beauty of caching is that it takes you to so many places you would never usually find.
Thank you to all the cachers out there for hiding and maintaining their caches. Especially to those who put so much effort into creating unique and fun hides.
I enjoy finding well maintained caches in fun and unique cache containers. No one likes finding a mint tin – but a find is a find after all.
I’m currently working on a Project-GC challenge to get the average word count on my logs over 200 words.
So please ignore the rest of this log as it is just nonsense and song lyrics.
Well she was an American girl
Raised on promises
She couldn't help thinkin' that there
Was a little more to life
Somewhere else
After all it was a great big world
With lots of places to run to
Yeah, and if she had to die
Tryin' she, had one little promise
She was gonna keep
Oh yeah, all right
Take it easy baby
Make it last all night
She was an American girl
Well, It was kind of cold that night
She stood alone on her balcony
She could hear the cars roll by
Out on 441
Like waves crashin' on the beach
And for one desperate moment there
He crept back in her memory
God it's so painful, when
Something that's so close
And still so far out of reach
Oh yeah, all right
Take it easy baby
Make it last all night
She was an American girl
Well I'm a-runnin' down the road try'n to loosen my load
I've got seven women on my mind
Four that want to own me, two that want to stone me
One says she's a friend of mine
Take it easy, take it easy
Don't let the sound of your own wheels drive you crazy
Lighten up while you still can
Don't even try to understand
Just find a place to make your stand, and take it easy
Well, I'm a standin' on a corner in Winslow, Arizona
Such a fine sight to see
It's a girl, my Lord, in a flat-bed Ford
Slowin' down to take a look at me
Come on, baby, don't say maybe
I gotta know if your sweet love is gonna save me
We may lose and we may win, though we will never be here again
So open up I'm climbin' in, so take it easy
Well, I'm a runnin' down the road tryin' to loosen my load
Got a world of trouble on my mind
Lookin' for a lover who won't blow my cover, she's so hard to find
Take it easy, take it easy
Don't let the sound of your own wheels make you crazy
Come on baby, don't say maybe
I gotta know if your sweet love is gonna save me
Oh, we got it easy
We oughta take it easy

No point in going overboard is there !!

Great day out with Team Justice, successfully completing this wonderful series in a day. The challenge has appealed to us for a long time, and it was incredibly satisfying to be able to complete it. Throughout the day we often marveled at the size and quantity of the containers you must have had at home in order to lay these out. Thanks so much carkisser for this astonishingly ambitious and well executed series. We loved it!
A plan was hatched with Clint & Abby over 12 months ago when we saw these caches come out over time. We could get 100, nah, let’s get them all and soon after a few drinks we decided to attempt the lot in 1 day. Time passed and somehow we found ourselves talking about it at a recent event (yes, and more drinks). Let’s do it after Christmas, ok. So, we meet in Wallan at 6am to begin the long day.
We had a few ideas to speed up our caching given we were trying to find 300+ caches in a day and that our previous record was about 60 in a day so this was going to be tough. We put the GPS and pens on lanyards do we could keep our hands few when getting the cache and didn’t have to pick up or get things out of our pockets. We did shifts of 1 hour, so one person did the driving, ate, re-hydrated and relaxed, while the other cached for the hour. The driver also provided the clue up front between caches as the cacher counted the distance down to the cache.
Now to the clues. Tree, stump, log, rock! We were getting a good chuckle over the clues, ‘beside tree’, we are in a forest! We found some of the ‘logs’ were not yet logs (i.e. trees), but they were close most of the time. We thought there might be some sort of random clue generator sometimes.
To the numbers. 330 caches attempted in 10 hours and 22 minutes. We had 7 DNFs and a total of 323 finds. This meant an average find time (including DNFs) of 1 minute, 53 seconds. We were quite amazed at the speed we could go and how quick you could find, sign and move on. It also comes down to the great containers laid out by carkisser for this power trail. Nice and large, and easy to find and extract the logs. We only came across one Eclipse time late in the day. Our biggest hour of finds was our 5th hour of 42 finds. This averaged out at 1 minute and 25 seconds per cache.
Overall, we had a great time as it was a challenge to push ourselves to get all these caches. We loved the layout and the effort to place all these caches. Thanks so much to carkisser for the caches.

Its Mega time ! Headed out for another full days caching with minniek and Nibletricecakes. Today we decided to do a portion of the Mount Disappointment series. I had previously done numbers 1-250 back in Aug 16, so it was great to be back to do the 'new' sections. Quick find at GZ. Signed the log, replaced the cache, and then headed off to the next one.
Thanks carkisser !!

Over for Parkville Event started early this Morning after I landed in Melbourne, with Becknmonts and Loulou0212 we saw some beautiful scenery, great fun completing this series in 1 day. TFTC carkisser
After Becknmonts and I picked gabs1963 up from the airport we headed out to start our day, a beautiful quick stop at Melbourne’s first before we headed to start this trail, thanks so much for putting theses caches out, I really enjoyed them - definitely a first for me getting my geo car off the road and on some dirt - TFTC carkisser
I had a great day out today after LouLou0212 and myself picked Gabs1963 up for the airport. We headed to “Melbourne’s First” and then onto this trail as Gabs1963 has cached our her 450km radius, so she wanted some “easy numbers”. Thanks so much for placing this trail carkisser
I'm in Melbourne for a few day's with Horsesrule1990, heading to the event and to pick up as many caches as possible. Once the Melbourne Mega raps up we will head to the Gold Coast , for a few day hitting all the fun parks. Then heading back to Western Australia, and back to Work. Would like to thank everyone for there caches and there effects hiding then for us to find.all Tftc.

It's been 2 years since I found the Disapointing trail. I was so disapointed that I didn't finish until 11pm, searching for caches by spotlight and keeping my eyes wide open for wildlife on the windy roads.
To my greater disapointment, I only realised recently that the trail continued on beyond the 250 that I had downloaded into my GPSr at the time, and had to come back again to find the rest. At least I finished this time with plenty of daylight left.
Thanks for the caches.

We arrived in the area with a particular plan and that was to do the Dad's Mt Disappointment Driving Lesson trail. All caches were found or replaced (with the permission of the owner) Some still need the logs replaced but we ran out of supplies.
This trail was done with Hans and Linda, the jumping in and out of the car was shared, the driving was shared, lunch was had on the trail where ever we found a place that appealed to us.
Some shots were fired near one of the caches which startled the crap out of us. We did not think that you were allowed to shoot here. The roads were a mixture of good, bad and ugly. Thankfully it was dry it did try very hard to rain but all we saw was not enough to wet the car or us.
We apologise for the generic logs, this does not mean we thought any less of this series. We appreciate the effort that has gone into placing this trail and maintaining it, this is why we were more than happy to help with some maintenance.

TFTC. We had planned a big day of caching with friends Muff1. Our aim was to complete as much as possible of the Mt Dissappointment trail. In general all of the caches were quickly to hand and signed. We attempted to do as many as possible without having to double back on ourselves.
I was driving home from an event in Shepparton, and my reason for having to get home quicker then originally planned evaporated so I decided to grab one or 2 of these while kind of in the area, just a slight detour really...LOL. So I ended up collecting numbers 272 to 287 and 204 to 195. So I am slowly collecting them all bit by bit. This must make it about 270 in total. Unlike everyone else I wont apologise for the generic logs because thats just life in the power trail world, so rejoice. But a big thanks for all the effort you have put in. TFTC
