Interesting way in took a walk after road turned more underivable searched and spotted quite quickly tftc
Enjoyed the drive close to GZ, stopped short when the deepest holes were arrived at.. not the right tires and a long way from home! Enjoyed the views and the cache find. Thanks for creating this one, it did feel like an adventure which I do like!
Came out here a few years ago but decided not to go for it - a nice stroll today . Thought I wasnt going to find it but there it was Tftc
We approached this from the north and as the car isn't a 4 wheel drive we walked the last 500m. A nice quick find here and then admired the views over the Kaipara
Nice and handy find on my way home from Kaipara Harbour weekend.
Well it was! Park and grab ....
I did not read cache description before arriving at the location.
Ended up on 4x4 track!
Gosh!
Such a fun with 4x4 car Nice one and thanks for a good thrill!

In the area collecting a few caches and this one looked like a challenge. We followed the car GPS to the closest point, and then walked the last 500m or so along the 4WD track to gz. Once at gz, we surveyed the area and soon spotted the hide. Great views from up here. We spied a rainbow over the water, so quick-footed it back to the car.TFTC
Cache is still there! Although changes to the area meant it was more difficult to find than when originally placed. I've changed the hide slightly so now it's now more obvious where it is.
Oh how embarrassing!
Was here 4 years ago and found it quickly , but this time we were stumped ....
Many thanks for the check up...
Must have had a senior moment...will return with nette1234 merlot58 and Jag50 next time when in area as none of those 3 have got it yet....
Many thanks for your prompt check up..☆

Good to see this one enabled again as I knew I was passing and noted the COs message a short while before I arrived. That is one gnarly road up there and the Princess Dualis was no match to the terrain so I took Shanks's pony to GZ. Q E F here and replaced as found before heading back down/up to the car.
Another weekend day and I have a plan to go and find some caches out at Te Rau Puriri Regional Park up the top of South Head (North of South Head then!). I originally put down a couple of new ones in this empty (of caches, at the time) park and Tramyard and Pax duly obliged to fill in some of the walking tracks with caches, which also had good views and interesting things to see. I was fairly early off from home and arrived at the trail start at 0900, arrived back at 1145-ish so under 3 hours for the loop, including finds. After this I headed to cowpops for a couple then finished at Silverdale for a few more.

We stood right next to where it was but son was navigating and took us back.
I’m gutted we were right there

Found 11.40am
Second attempt to do this cache. This time came up trumps.
Drove from other end of road and able to drive right to GZ.
We just had to wait for a dad and his 2 kids on bikes to move away before finding cache. Great to clear area. SLTFTC

With Gap (of Fap and Gap)...
The last time we were in the neighbourhood, we tried to take the 'seemingly' easier way in - but let's not fool ourselves. The route we chose was a muddy slip 'n' slide. We retreated in defeat, but hadn't given up completely. In the interim, Gap did some homework and discovered another way in. We took that approach today and only needed to see off a couple of visitors at ground zone before making the find. Thanks nzseries1 and TFTC.

Cache check, all good. I'm going to update the cache description because I think people don't realise that if you approach from the north instead of the south the approach is much easier and much less muddy. Here is what it looked like coming from the north this afternoon.
Driving past today and decided to pop along and take a look for this one. Drove up the road and soon saw what the tricky bit of the road would be. Rather than take a chance of getting stuck on the dirt road I parked up and walked the last 300m to the cache location.
Once there, the GPS on the phone was bouncing around a little bit so I had to look in two of three places but got there in the end. Found the travel bug mentioned in the log so have picked that up and will move along shortly. Cache is in good condition - no problems signing the log here. Replaced as found. Thanks for the cache.

Received a report that the cache was probably missing, so I went up to check it and sure enough it wasn't there. Have replaced the cache with a new one today.
After an early finish to work in Silverdale I began to head home via a long and winding road through Wainui and Parakai.
Drove part way up Alpine road, engaged the 4 wheel drive in my Toyota Carib, and . . . . parked.
An interesting walk up to GZ which I took very slowly and carefully. Once there it was quickly apparent where the cache should be, but there was no cache to be found. Eventually I signed a piece of 100 x 50 timber and left it on the stump. Thanks to the CO for putting our name into the replacement logbook and giving us permission to claim the find.

I have set myself a challenge for this year to have at least the same number of caches on each day of my calender as the number of years I have been caching.
Today the target is nine. The area selected was SH16 between Kaukapakapa and Waimauku.
It looks like someone enjoys slinging mud about using 4WD vehicles to get to the GZ and beyond. I decided to use Shank's Pony tredding carefully. What awesome views from the GZ both eastwards and westwards. Thanks for bringing me here. Worth a fave.
In: TB.
Cheers for the cache.

Was in the area so had to come and get this one. The road on the map suddenly became a track so I parked up and walked the last few hundred metres. Awesome views from the GZ and a quick find. TFTC
Thanks for the placement nzseries 1 !
Have been meaning to get this for ages ....and today was the day !
Usually in a rush to get home after being up north ; but today I had been visiting at Woodhill so after that I continued on up to here !
Loved the photos put on here by urbangypsynz and Gorby !
Was in the first place I looked !

I joined up with yorkshirekiwi83 today and headed out to Atiu Creek Regional Park for a days caching. After several hours caching in the Regional Park and around the Okahukura Peninsula, we then headed back to Auckland and found a few more caches along the way. Left the 2WD down on the road and took the short walk to this one, where the cache was quickly found once we reached GZ. TFTC!
Vistra decided he was going to push for his 11,00th this weekend, but he needed to grab a few to get him closer, so I tagged along for the ride and help with the finds.
That is quite a steep climb and not something I would attempt in my car, or Vistra's, so walk it was, nice quick find at the top though and great views just before sunset, lots of new houses being built to take in that view as well.

When I came here along this road it was **pouring** down and I was quite surprised that the road ended but the cache was still about 200m away! My GPS showed a park n' grab. Ok, I see it's down that muddy track I have to go and up the hill! *Flamin' heck I only have my jandals on,* I was hoping, because of the rain, all my caches today would be out of the car quickly and hop back in asap. So I took one look and decided I can do this! Got my umbrella out and carefully, very carefully made my way to GZ, I read something about gorse in the logs and thought when I got to GZ that's a lot of gorse.... but it wasn't as bad as all that, cache easily found, nice and dry too and I signed myself in. Took a foto of the swimming pool nearby then negotiated myself back down the slippery mud to my car, without a fall. Wheew, that was close. Thanks for the cache and the little adventure.
Suggested to my Daughter that we try this cache on the way home from Paihia. Gave her all the warnings, but being a competent 4Wder she suprised me by taking the car up, a bit of a slide on the way up but there was luckily a good rut to aim for ?????? not bad past there but personally I would not recommend it and had I been driving I would have walked. A prickly find, grabbed TB. Beautiful view, how on earth did your Brother find this place? FP
Perused the immediate surroundings of the cache location and spotted something of interest.
Did we find it - of gorse we did. This cache scores high for a panoramic location and deserves commendation in the usual manner.

I can't believe there's only been three of us up here since the cache was put here seriously the ruts aren't too bad and if my little 'puddle jumper' can do it then...
Out and about for a drive picking up some caches that have been published since our last visit up this way. If we had the old caching wagon we would have chanced a drive by but don't think the Toyota Vitz is up to this great example of a public road in NZ. Lovely wander along to GZ and cache soon located. TB picked up. TFTC
With this new hide still unfound this morning I decided to wait until traffic died down and head out for a look. After a pleasant drive in the country I soon closed in on Alpine Road. My GPSr said I was heading to an off road track so I was surprised when I turned into tarmac. That didn't last long. The GPsr was right. On the drive in I passed Kiwi of Kiwiscot as he drove back out. Then I passed Scot of Kiwiscot running out on foot. It was quite the sight! With the FTF gone for sure it was just a matter of getting the smiley. Parked up and walked the last 250m. Nice views and a super quick find once at GZ. Dropped a couple of TBs. Gave Kiwiscot a call to congratulate them. Cheers for the cache placement!
We had noticed this new cache had not been found after a few days. Since it was a nice morning with only housework & gardening planned decided instead to head out on a little adventure. With Kiwiscot dropped off at school we made the journey over to Kaukapakapa. Decided against taking the Demio down the 4wd track (we will leave this for Gorby to attempt) and used shanks pony instead. After a short walk we were soon at gz. No issues finding the cache. Stood around for a few minutes enjoying the view. Scotty pointed out several spots we could build a house. Not sure I could handle the commute...... Travel bugs collected. TFTC & (FTF)
As we were leaving Alpine Road another vehicle entered. Did not get a good look at the driver but we soon received a phone call from Lost Course congratulating us on making the find. Cheers buddy
