As this cache has been out of action for too long, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

The kids and I came down from Okaihau to the Reotahi snorkel day. We had a great swim and saw lots of little fish in the reserve. I hadn't snorkeled in years and really enjoyed it. We then walked the loop track up to Mt Aubrey. This was a great track with fantastic views. Lots of people around this cache today so we had to be subtle hunters. Thanks for the hide Smile

I joined up with hotrodpete this hot summer's afternoon to take a hike around Mt Aubrey and look for the caches around there. I've only been up Mt Aubrey once before, and that was just up and down from the summit, so it was nice to walk the full loop today. A nice easy find to end the loop - very exposed here, so I hope it lasts. TFTC!

Another easy find on our Mt Aubrey loop walk. Maybe too easy and could get picked up by muggles. TFTC

On a geocaching mission over Mt Aubrey and around the coast track to Reotahi this afternoon to see if we could log a few more local caches. Down off the top of Mt Aubrey there was a little less wind and the walk along the coastal track was very pleasant. This was the last cache on our list for the day and was a quick find next to the DoC sign - in fact the cache wasn't well hidden so there is a worry that it will eventually get muggled..

We have been spending the past week in the Bay of Islands, and were wondering if any new caches would come out while we were up here. On our last evening some notifications come through, and 3 are for DOC caches we could look for on our way home in the morning.
Our first detour was to the Whangarei Heads to visit the Motukaroro Marine Reserve and find this cache. We parked as instructed and made the short walk down to the cache site. A beautiful spot here, and so close to Marsden Point on the other side. The coords were spot-on and the cache quickly in hand. The notebook had been signed by a couple of members of the public (non-cachers) late in August but a few days before publication, so we assume we are First To Find. SmileSmile
Thanks DOCwhangarei for placing this cache and showing us this lovely spot. Will have to return and explore further.
Kiwicouple's First To Find coin visited.
