Out here in the boondocks looking for a few caches. This one took longer than it should have, but we found it! TFTC
Having finished looking at some open homes nearby, we decided to pick up a few caches before heading home (as you do).We parked up and headed for GZ, but realized we were being watched - turned out they knew exactly what we were up to as they were geocachers too. Nice to meet you Nufrat.A nice quick find. Thanks for putting this here
In Glen Afton with rattll on a sunny Saturday afternoon. At GZ, we were well and truly rumbled as we extracted the cache, but soon learned that we'd been spotted by nufrat. Had a good chat, then went back to the cache. Log in good condition. Signed, and returned as found. Tftc!
Mrs NZT and I decided to have a road trip day today. Left home at 6.30am (crazy I know when we are on holiday but then this is holiday enjoyment for us!!!), drove lots of kms all over the place and back home in time for dinner with a nice haul of smiles (we mostly had smiles today woohoo).Well this was a cool little find - didn't know this old station was here!It was all closed today but the signs are welcoming so I wandered on in. Not sure if someone is living in this little area near this cache as it looked like there had been a recent camp fire, some washing hanging out to dry and a car. Thankfully a very precise hint made for a quick sign and exit so as not to disturb. Thanks for the cache.
A last minute plan was hatched for Keylev and Mrs NZT to have a girls day out in the Waikato today. We started out early in the day. grabbed a coffee at Mercer and then started caching. We had a great day driving around lesser travelled roads and enjoying the sun. Got a few newer adlabs completed and also a number of other more traditional caches. Thanks to all the CO's for placing and maintaining the caches. Finally finished back in Pokeno with a well deserved ice cream and after 11 hours caching we were ready to head home for some dinner. A GREAT day out.The gate was closed so Keylev did the honours as my rickety knees were getting tired. TFTC!
Each time I visit here, its raining lol. Todays visit was to drop a parcel off to nufrat in residence here. Helefant was with us to. Glad to finally find this one and sign it off. TFTC.
Great spot to visit. Engines are amazing. What a great Club. Thanks for bringing me here.
We were in the area for the geotour Earthcache and visited the Bush Tramway Club (sadly not running today) so picked up this trad too. Quick easy find when we looked in the right place! TFTC alunb.
After a wonderful afternoon at the steam train open day I managed to get enough reception to download the information for this geocache. Wahoo. Thanks!
It is Queen's Birthday weekend and we are caching with Team Welsh in the Waikato. Today we started in Huntly in the early morning fog.
A very friendly volunteer met us in the carpark for a chat, and we ended up wandering through the large shed looking at the old locomotives. On our return to the car we made a discrete find in the spot we had noticed on arrival. An interesting place to explore, thanks.

There was some nice friendly volunteers here who wanted to chat so we found out a few things about the area and had a wander through the shed looking at the old locomotives. On our return to the car we stopped and discreetly found, signed and replaced this one. Super interesting place to come so thanks for bringing us here.

I wasn't too sure if the gates would be closed on us, especially since it was already nearly 7pm, so we didn't take the risk and parked outside the gates.
Soon jogged to near GZ and I heard voices nearby, not sure whether anyone here knew about the placement of the cache I thought it best to exercise stealth and found it undetected. This always makes you feel the rush of doing something naughty and getting away with it!!
TNLN TFTC!!

So very glad to have been brought here.

Yay this part of the Waikato is open again. Had an awesome drive today. Haven't been in this area before. Keen to comeback to ride the train. Funny how geocaching shows you places you didn't know about. Tftc.
The cart thats "left "behind lol
.you never know what you find hiding in the back blocks an interesting area that I intend to revisit thanks Alunb

Another little gem hidden away. I am so glad we visited this really interesting place. We are also keen motorhomers so was interesting to see this is a POP. I guess we will be back! What a cool place. A shame we missed the Sunday activities but we were on a timetable so maybe not!! Thanks for bringing us here alunb
Out with Merlot58 and Nette1234 we were doing the nearby earthcache and went to check out why there were so many parked cars here. It was the first Sunday of the month and the trains were running. A great atmosphere with lots of muggles around. Quick find here with the hint. Time for us to check out the trains too. TFTC
We happened to turn up here and it was all systems go, it was the first Sunday of the month and the trains were running and there were people everywhere. Fortunately they were all at the station so we could find the cache easily and after signing the log we wandered over to check out the train that was just coming in to the station
I was along the road a bit further doing a PWGT cache when this one popped up on my radar screen. I just had to sign it off.
Also talked to one of the Club volunteers about caching and showed him where it was.
Cheers for the cache.

Found it with great company of Aiden29 on our way back from Hamilton area.
Many thanks for showing us this place!
We will probably never visit this spot if there is no cache here.
Very quiet today so we had good time to enjoy this area by ourselves.

I received a message from Tramyard asking if I wanted to head to the Waikato to complete a number of adventure labs around the area. Even though I was in Hamilton for work this week I didn't have a chance to travel out to attempt these ALs and as it's always fun with others I agreed to join him.
We ended up in the Hamilton Gardens and were making our way back to Huntly to complete the new adventure lab there. Tramyard suggested we take the back route and pick up one of the geotour earthcaches and a few other bonus caches along the way.
It was a nice surprise to find this railway station in the middle of nowhere. The gates were closed, so we parked outside and walked up to GZ. It was nice and quiet on the walk to find the cache.

On a mission to clear out North waikato caches. Now to find my old nearby one. Tftc
What a little gem of an area....good to see history being preserved, and they certainly don't make trains like they used too.
Thanks for bringing us here.
the cache is all good.

GPS wobbling around a bit but straightforward find in the end. Didn't know this place existed. TFTC
Mrs B and I decided to have a look around the Huntly area this morning and called by here to have a look. It was not a open day so all quiet on the tracks. Interesting little place, TFTC.
Very quiet here today, we were the only ones about, except for the caretaker - had a wee chat with him, a bit of a look around, located the cache, and back on our way. TFTC
We bought our kids to have a ride on the steam train and jigger today as a school holiday activity. They had a great time, and so did I when I realised there was a geocache 15m from where I parked our car! Nice quick easy find. NIce spot for a cache, thanks for placing it.
Pulled up and found this one pretty quickly thanks to the hint - rain looming - nice area - Trains are cool.

Drove up her to find the cache and ran into the creator of the cart where the cache was attached. We explained the whole geocaching thing and he had no idea a geocache had been attached to his cart. He seemed pretty happy about the whole idea
Loved exploring up here...
Many thanks for the opportunity...
Definitely returning on first Sunday of month soon for a ride.

After finishing up work this morning, down South Auckland way, I decided to reward myself with a drive in the country side. Making my way back to state highway number one now. The gates were open here, so I drove up for a look. Some volunteers were there working on a couple of engines. I had a bit a look and a quick chat to one of the men. No problem making a quick find here. Cheers for the cache placement!
A quick stop and grab on our way to Raglan for the weekend. Never knew this place existed so was interesting seeing the setup in the brief time we had here. TFTC!
7.45am - Early start for the Squirrel and me, out to the west coast and then up to Auckland. Collected a few older puzzles that we had been working on with others in our group then met up with Mrs Fap at our daughters place for the night. SLTFTC
With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... Another big weekend drive to clock up some distance mileage.
Distance from previous cache: 23.73 km
After spending the night in Huntly, we resumed our mission out west. The Pukemiro Junction was our first stop. We've visited this location before, though the facilities were open that time. Today, the gates were locked, so we walked up to the station from the bottom of the hill. All was quiet and we soon had the cache in hand. TFTC.

Cache seems to have migrated a bit so that this hint is not exactly right, but I still found the cache fairly quickly. TFTC.
Had a nice chat to workers doing maintenance, will return one day for a ride ...TFTC
I found the cache very difficult to locate due to the positioning of the cart and have replaced it under the front of it due to health and safety concerns. I have also emailed the cache owner to let him know so if you are the next person to find it after me then this is where it will be.
Finished work early to head to the Huntly area to get some caches.
Got here and read the sign which said gate shuts at 5. It was 5.10 so drove up and quickly got it. been meaning to get here for some time tftc

Aftter a long day at work and knowing that I was due at an event in Taupirii at 6pm I was hoping for a quick trip out to here to grab a couple of caches along the way, but as traffic would have it it took 20 minutes to just get from Taupiri to Huntly (Damm I'll be so glad when the traffic can avoid Huntly all together), and then a very quick trip out to the cache.
So much for the great idea to collect the remaining caches out this way, but rather just a couple was all I could manage.
It was soon located which again lead to a very fast back to the event.
thanks for the placement, thanks for the cache

With an event at Taupiri Tavern this evening, it meant I had a few hours to use up between then and the time I finished work. As there were a few out of the way caches in the general area I thought I'd go for a drive and locate them before the event.
I've been here a few times now, and every time I return this place seems to get better and better, I might have come visit one day soon when the place is open and running. The gate was open, when I arrived but as it was close to 5pm I thought I better not risk getting locked in and wandered up hill. Initially started searching the wrong spot, but re-checked the hint and GPS when I couldn't find anything and realised my mistake. A quick find once I was looking in the right place. Thanks for bringing me here again.

2173 Was in Waiuku when this was published. Called on my way home but it was dark and the gate closed (5pm to 7am). Back today for find. Workers were chatting near GZ. I got a full explanation and tour of the restoration of a carriage taking place in the big shed. It has been going on for 18mth and still along way to go. On the way back to the car I picked up the cache. The FTF was MCC last night at 7pm but has not been logged yet.
Open day Sunday 4/9/16
Open day Sunday 4/9/16
saw the notification come in about 1hr after it was published, was in the middle of doing something else so completed the other task. With a dark evening and not much else to do why not make the short drive on the off chance no one else has already been there. Arrived at the locked gate, parked and made the 300m + walk to GZ, as we got closer we saw a parked car, past the carriages and there were lights on in the building, told the younger member of our clan who was with us to stop dragging you feet as you will draw attention to us, carefully made our way to GZ, located the cache and was greeted with a blank log!!! great {FTF} haven't had one in ages, placed it back and made out way down the roadway to where we had parked
