My geocaching buddy has become a bit competitive, and has been completing as many challenges as possible, by any means. And so today I have had to join in and try the 7 types in a day challenge. All I have left is a multi, so this is the third attempt at a multi today (and the 5th this weekend).Daddypig's Assistant parked nearby and left me to work out the coordinates and find the cache by myself, although she has munted the ligaments in her foot so walking along here and to GZ might not have been a good idea.Easily made my way to the posted coordinates, and as usual didn't really read the instructions properly, so although the first one worked out right I quickly realised my error. Then realised that I hadn't brought any paper so had to scribble on the back of my hand, with a pen that didn't want to work. Eventually everything worked out, and I found the path to GZ.I began to regret not changing my footwear before I set out, but the ground wasn't quite as squelchy as it sounded. As I ducked into the bush I found where somebody has been dumping their garden waste, and at first thought the cache might be buried, but then spotted another likely hiding place.I do like it when a CO does everything they can to keep the log clean and dry, and I was soon on my way back to the car.

On a previous visit we walked away with a DNF. Saw that it had been replaced so we (ABCDF4 and eyespyben as well) called today to sign the new log. Happy to find it where we had looked last time. Thank you for the placement.

Cache replaced already to be found Big Grin

On a mission today with ABCDF4 and eyepyben to gather as many of the icons needed for the current challenge. Unfortunately no luck here so will have to look for another multi to do.

Up here from Chch for Christmas with the rellies. Did our annual brunch with uni friends before having a quick stop here as we'd checked it out the day before. Then on to do the veggie part of the family Christmas dinner. Thanks rustynz

Rhis took a little looking and a bit of counting but we got there in the end. Thanks for placing your cache.

Ms_KR and I are off on our annual pilgrimage to Auckland to visit family. Today was the last leg of the journey, Cambridge to Auckland. Another great day, but the traffic out of Auckland reminded me why I no longer live here.

Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. .

I am trying to qualify for a upcoming Christchurch Challenge for Multis. I need one for today.

An interesting read on why this reserve has this name.

Cheers for the cache.

All good at gz....needed to dig down a little... FP

Have been in this reserve before so was familiar with the plaque as we wandered over to it.

Double checked our counting and we were confident we had some good coordinates so relocated to the final. Bit of a hunt needed at GZ as we were only working off the phone but got there before too long and headed off from here. Nice hide - TFTC

We needed to find a cache for the last day of 2019, so stopped by Rizal reserve on our way out today. After parking at the parking coordinates we made our way to the memorial, and after reading the instructions carefully we soon had some good looking coordinates. Headed to the final, which has become a bit of a dumping ground with the locals dumping their garden wastes and compost. Cache was quickly located thanks to the hint.

We targetted this cache for our streak find today. Walked in to WP1 and read the interesting signage. Had no problem turning this into numbers and quickly had the final co-ords. Luckily there was no-one in a position to see me as I approached GZ and hunted for the cache. Soon had this in hand, then took a shorter route back to the van. Thanks.

Reasonably quick solve when I figured out what was required...finding cache was a little more of a challenge. Log wet through, but writeable...cheers V

Took long way in, short way out - Found wp1 last week, back this week after doing some sums.

Nice hide.

I'd taken some photos of the info while I was last here and solved at home. Seeing as I was in the area today I decided to complete the formalities. Managed to remain stealtful and made a quick find, TFTC

I still can't believe you made me count that high just to get the coords for stage 2. Fortunately, I noticed that some of the subsequent numbers were not too far away, so I saved a bit of time.
No trouble finding the final thanks to the recent CO visit. But, all of the sudden I heard a voice saying, "Hello. Are you all right?" Muggles. Even worse muggles who can see GZ from their second story balcony. I had to explain a lot to them before they were satisfied. TFTC.

Cache checked all in place for the next finder. Covered with natural camo

Fourth and last multi found today. Did the calculations off the numbers I extracted and it suggested somewhere highly unlikely so did a quick check and noticed my mistake - corrected those and sure enough the new suggestion made much more sense. Once at GZ I saw the suggested item and knew where to look. Even so the cache eluded me for a couple of minutes but persevered and came up with it. Pleased to get this one ticked off the list and it was nice to come and visit the memorial. It is rather an odd place and feels a bit like the house at the end of the street's back garden. Thanks for the cache, all good here.

We just had to do this cache and were surprised after our recent trip to the Philippines to find Jose Rizal here in Auckland. We have been to his park, jail, museum and execution site in Manilla and here he was in our home town. Strange but true. Great multi, thanks Rustynz

I came to do this earlier in the year but it was too wet so I wimped out until it was finer weather. A very unusual place to hide such a beautiful memorial I would never have known it was here. Quick calculation and off to the final. TFTC.

I decided to spend a couple of hours geocaching today. After finding the nearby trad, I headed over to the memorial to give this multi a go. After a careful look at the cache page I set about decoding the coordinates. After much counting I eventually produced an unlikely set of coordinates. With the aid of the checksum I quickly determined that there was only one likely error. One redo later and everything checked out. Once at the final I spied the hide immediately as it was a little exposed. Recovered on replacement. Cheers for the multicache placements!

Up in Auckland for a few days - not for work this time - main event is daughter #2's graduation ceremony at Auckland Uni tomorrow (Monday). Today was a day to take some time out and go and find a few caches. The weather was pretty variable but it did slowly improve during the time I was out and about. I almost didn't try to find this multi but very glad that I did. It is nearly 7 years since I was lucky enough to be able to visit Rizal Park in Manila and find the virtual cache (GCC879) dedicated to this hero. Today I was able to work out all the numbers I needed and then headed off to the final location. There was really only one place this cache could be but it still took a little while to uncover it. TFTC, Biggles.

TF has an aversion to multis so generally only does them in company so today was the day. No problem locating the cache, did our counting twice just to make sure and with a good looking checksum (thanks for that) we were off to the final and TF did the honours here in a place that I thought I had already looked. Another nice cache on our day out topping up the happy tank.

I have a BIG aversion to multis, probably something to do with the fact that I struggle to count higher the 10 with my sox and shoes on. However, with much arm twisting by TW we attempted a few today. I can think of more picturesque places for the Prime Minister of the Philippines to visit when he is in Auckland, but each to their own, I guess. Thanks.

We took pictures and recorded the info of the memorial plaque when we were here to find the trad. Today we thought to take this cache. GPS was bouncing and brought to a place where the hint was not making any sense. Hari's instinct took to a place more appropriate for the hint and cache was soon in hand.
Thank you rustynz for the cache. we would have not known about this reserve if not for the caches.

24-Dec-16
This took a bit of work.Ihad to repeat a couple of counts to make it work but got there in the end. Seems like a odd place to place the memorial stone and cant work out the connection with this spot. Not many people would know it was here. Tftc

19-Dec-16
We almost gave up, so look harder if you already know where to look. Smile

05-Dec-16
It wasn't that long ago that I made the walk here to look for some Billy Goats. There was no one around so I sat down and got the information I needed, then made my calculations and headed to the final. A couple of roosters crowed as I wandered past (neighbours must love that!) then mother duck and her 7 babies waddled in front of me as I reached GZ. As I only had my phone, the compass struggled a little in the tree cover, but thanks to the hint, I made a quick find.

Kept jumbling up my working, so recorded and had a go at home to sort out my results. All came right and completed today. Tftc

Have recently done the Trad and Puzzle one down Wingate. ...so might as well do the Multi !
My car knows it's way there now !
So pleased to find it was an easy solve !
While I was reading and decoding at the plaque...two friendly kids from nearby house came and asked what I was doing !
So I explained all about Geocaching ...they were really interested so I let them come to the final !
Then as I was heading back to my car , their Dad came looking for his kids...Ooops!
He asked what all the recent activity had been about !!!
So I told him .
I mean as this one and Billy Goats are so close to the houses it is a bit hard to be invisible...imagine having FMZ ... Gorby and John Gillon etc popping out of bushes if it was your back yard !
At least the locals won't be so concerned and curious now !

I'd taken a photo of the memorial when last here for GC6R38D "Three Billy Goats Gruff", so was able to do the calculations on my PC. Headed over this afternoon and quickly found the cache. Co-ordinates seem to be spot-on and the hint helped narrow in on it. TFTC Smile

A nice little multi in this reserve, quickly got the required numbers then off to the final for a quick find. (FTF) 19xx TFTC

I took my parents out for lunch today at Denny's in New Lynn. That was where I was eating and enjoying my parent's company which I don't do often enough, when I heard my phone having a hernia! What.... new caches... how dare Curglaff put these out while I'm eating! So ignored the phone and carried on. Eventually I made it home and decided to head out again and see this cache. I love multis and wasn't too concerned at who might have got FTF. So parked up at the stated co-ords and walked to the plaque. Spent a little time here checking and re-checking my info and got the check sum on my first attempt. Good! So walked to the final and didn't take me long to find the cache and sign myself in, naturally I saw someone had been here before me, but only the one person, I thought maybe a few people had come but I guess the foul weather today may have been the deciding factor in that. So quite happy to be 2TF today and thanks rusty for another nice little multi, really, really enjoyed it.
