The useless gate is being overtaken by weeks these days. After climbing Mt Cooroora, Shazzar66 and I made it out mission to find as many nearby caches as possible. While this one wasn't on our original list, we had plenty of hours of daylight left in our day so we decided to look for some of this series. The cache wasn't where we expected to find it, but it wasn't too far away. All good here. Thanks, Jones.gang, for the cache at the useless gate.
Looking for a full day of caching, I packed my car and headed up the coast to camp at Duppers place so we could make an early start. We found somewhere safe to park and made our way to the cache. Happy with another quick find here.I found your cache, The Old Bruce - A Useless Gate today.Jones.gang, TFTC, TFTH & TFTSF
We had the opportunity to spend some time exploring the region and were lucky to have perfect winter weather for it. We visited some wonderful sites, enjoyed some spectacular views and discovered some interesting history along the way. The Marble saw the cache as she exited the car and already had it in hand by the time I had climbed out. Thanks Jones.gang
Early morning start on day 3 of this caching trip away. Spent the night just outside of Gympie after finishing another leg in the challenge that Im currently working on. This morning I have a bit of time left to work on the next leg.I am rive at ground zero, find a safe way lace to park and then make my way to ground zero. I quickly find the cache, extract the log and make my mark.I return the cache to the hiding spot and then back to the van and off to the next adventure.A big thanks to the cache owner for making this cache available to be found.Cheers
A beautiful day for a drive with geopup and mugglemum. With the car pointing north after an event, we headed to Cooroy and Pomona to collect some caches in the area for a challenge I'm working on.
Took a bit of time to make the find here - log signed, all replaced as found.
Thanks Jones.gang & SPIKE for the cache.

I definitely spent too long admiring the useless gate!
Should have tried GPS first.

What a fun find. Initially went to the wrong gate and then quickly saw the useless one.
Did look over the gate first as we were in a hurry..Stopped re read the log and soon found what was needed. Tftc
Jones.gang I found your cache The Old Bruce - A Useless Gate on 16/2/2023, 11:10 am. This is my find 4737 and find # 5 today. Found it after a brief search, not where I thought it would be. Placed another log sheet to sign. Thanks for the cache, mate! TNSLLN
Still dodging the floods and finding the odd cache on our very long detour from Cairns to Brisbane. TFTC
Travelling south from Rainbow Beach to Noosa Heads, we left Bruce for the Old Bruce and at least some caches of this series. Our campervan's called Bruce, too, so this was a must do.

Out caching with the Tough Mothers (Bennyboppers, Misssusan79 and Lisylou). No luck for us
Well, finally the weather has decided it will allow us a few days of dry camping (not totally dry, there WILL be a few lagers involved! ).
Our target area is Gympie and a few rural spots northwest.
A nice quick find here by Mrs VC to wrap up day to of OUR Gympie Muster!
Made our mark & replaced as found.

After spending the night at Carters Ridge, we packed the camper up and headed to Gympie for the day before settling in Kenilworth for another night of camping.
I had previously grabbed some of the Old Bruce Series, but had ran out of time. Time to finish them off. Indeed this gate does seem rather useless. But nonetheless we found your cache and it was in good condition however the log is full.
Thanks for the cache **Jones.gang & SPlKE**

Coongoola & Geodog found your cache today, 28 May 2021 11:02 am , while enjoying another day out adding to our tally. TFTC Jones.gang
We were heading north for a CITO event and also a celebration event at Gympie but with car problems as we neared the CITO the decision was made that after the event we would turn around and head back to Caboolture. Drat drat and double drat.
We decided to use the old Bruce Highway and pickup what caches we passed as we did not wish to put undue pressure on the car.
This is another cache with a red herring hanging over it. LOL. SL TFTC

24,469. Found with minniek on our Dayboro QLD MEGA Adventure trip.
Day 10. Today we left the beautiful city of Maryborough with plans already to return. We started our long trip home via many counties over three days - one county in Queensland and twelve counties in New South Wales. Tonight's destination way around the Lismore / Casino way. At least the weather was finally improving nicely. It was mostly easy to pick up the counties - plenty of quality caches near rest areas or just off the highway entry / exit points. This was the next cache on our list. Saw the Gate. Quick find at GZ for this one. Signed the log, replaced the cache as found, then headed off to the next one.
Thanks Jones.gang & SPIKE !!

Final day in Cooroy/Traveston area, making the journey back home.
Almost to the end of this morning's caching. My crook knee is making my gait feel useless! But someone starred and pick(eted) the cache.
Log signed and cache replaced as found at 11:08 AM on February 21, 2021. TFTC, Jones.gang & SPlKE

After our weekend away with RoddyC hatzofff Snickersallan and TMZ59 for the Mary River paddle, we are now caching on our way home.
This gate has certainly seen better days but luckily for us the cache was in good nick. SL then returned as found.

Tftc jonesgang & spike, we had to make a quick detour off the motorway to get one in this shire for a challenge.
Found it, weird, maybe years ago they needed to keep cows or horse in, who knows
There was a lot of weed overgrowth on my visits and I was about to give up, just as I was heading back to the car I took another look at something suspicious and bingo, there it was. SL TFTC!
While traveling to Gympie with my geodog Scruffy, we just had to stop and find a few caches along the way...
Useless ? Then what do you call a get being used ?
The gate was open and a grader inside, so was worried the cache may have gone if it were on the gate itself, but all was good and it was soon in hand. Plus many sticky weed seeds on my clothes and in Scruff's hair.
All Good .. TFTC ..

This was a good one. Got covered in seeds while finding it so looked odd to passers as we were deseeding ourselves
Certainly if a gate's primary purpose is to either keep people/animals in or to keep people/animals out, this one certainly is of very little use.
Added my name to the titchy log, and departed. TFTC, Jones.gang and Spike.

Sunday. Que Sera and I both had a good laugh at the title of this cache and coming up to GZ, we soon spotted the obvious gate. We didn’t get our arrows to settle right on GZ so we just hunted around for a bit. I found a little red boat and called out to Que Sera that I thought I’d found a red herring of sorts. Alas, it didn’t come apart or produce a log book. We replaced the tug boat and continued our search in a couple of obvious spots. It was Que Sera who spotted this cache dangling from it’s spot and we soon had our names in the log.
This was the 3rd of 6 caches found on today's trip.
Thanks ***Jones.gang***, for showing us this place.

Mrs slow puncture and I were on the way to serenity on the mountain and we decided to collect a few smileys on the way. At gz we noted the name of the cache and it took us a little while before we spotted this cache. Interesting fence. Thanks for the fun
Found by Mary and David at 13:25. We are sure that this might have been a very useful gate at one stage. Our thanks to Jones.gang.
3:48:00 PM. Taking the quiet way home. A quick driveby and log signed. The better half had gone one way and I the other. Thanks for the cache Jones.gang
Heading up to Gympie for a work course, and managed to leave early enough to fit in a few previously unfound caches along the way. An easy find here.

I wonder what was here? It looks like part of a property that was reclaimed by the govt for the new highway, with the rest over the other side. Thanks for highlighting this place for us to discover with your cache series. I walked straight passed it, dismissing it as too obvious. Busy looking at the field
Today I met up with csnmasn and we headed north out of Cooroy to grab a cache or two and this was the next on the list.
Once at GZ it was a short search and the cache was in hand.
Once the log was signed all was returned as found.

Had just about given up and found as we were leaving. Log is damp, but otherwise all good. TNLNSL, TFTC.
Today we had a lovely tour as we headed on the way south with ilook4geo. We saw water and island views, pine forests and logging of the trees, as well as eucalypt forest and little quiet out of the way hamlets.
We had a really good day, with no DNF caches to record and each log was duly signed, with each cache being returned to its proper place before we moved on. This was an interesting series of caches along the old highway.
Thank you to Jones.gang & SPIKE for placing this cache and adding to the caching game.

Has a good drive today with lots of different scenery to enjoy. Found all the caches looked for with goingplaces2, signed the logs. Enjoyed the day very much. Thanks to each CO for the caches we found.
On our way home after the 2018-2019 New Year Event at Kilkivan. We wanted to do the Old Bruce Highway caches but had to skip a few because of intermittent heavy down pours. Not where we suspected it would be. Thanks Jones.gang & SPlKE
