Out and about today exploring around Cooktown with Grannan55 and Geodogs. Another absolutely fantastic place to visit. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Walked down to the falls and met a bloke that had a mutual friend as you do on your travels. We are from North East Victoria, and he was from Gippsland. No Crocs to be seen, but you never know. Thank you for showing us around this beautiful place. TFTC
Day three and it is another early start with a plan to climb Mt. Cook and then a drive up to Hope Vale before heading back to Cairns for the last night. The walk up the mountain was an exhausting one but I am very glad that it was completed and the log was signed. The wind up here today was just gail force. From there the four of us jumped into the Bluewattle geomobile and drove around HopeVale collecting a few more caches. I was again surprised by the amount debris still around the area and in endeavour falls. Once completed we headed back to Cooktown for that last cache. all completed we then started back to Cairns and again collecting some old caches and a couple of multi's. All logs were signed and all caches were replaced as found thanks for the placements.
TFTC smile20350 Out and about on a Sunny day grabing a cache to try and keep a challenge going signed as GS1947 on small logs with Charmad Blue Wattle and Snickersallan have a FP Thank you TeamThommo's Geo Son for placing this cache for our enjoyment
Stopped and had some lunch and a walk to the falls whilst out on a day trip from Cooktown. So glad we stopped. The falls are beautiful, but our fear of crocs kept us well back! Answer and photo sent. *The generic bit for this trip*We are on our way north for warmer weather. From Victoria to Cooktown, weaving inland and to the coast, caching as we go. No real plans, just taking each day as it comes and enjoying the adventure in our converted ambulance. Thanks to all COs for placing and maintaining caches for our enjoyment.
Great spot so pretty with a pretty walj through the park. Answered question but do not know how to attach photo so attached to this post. Sorry
I love Cooktown. When my colleagues said we werent coming here on our way up to Iron Range I decided to come up early and have a couple of days here. Added to the drive but I just think this is the nicest town. Even visited the Botanic Gardens for the first time - what a glorious spot. A relatively quiet day cache wise but did get a nice lot of butterflies today. This is a really Nice spot I am glad I stopped here to have a look. Googled answers sent! Lots of butterflies here (finally starting to see stuff).TFTC TeamThommo
Travelling with Team Crackers, Geoturtle37 and Papi4506.Heading to Cape York, and made our way to another interesting location.Swimmers in the water, taking advantage of a warm day.Group answers sent in. Many thanks for the earthcache.A favourite point given.
After having a fantastic time at the last ever QOGM event in Longreach we are now heading north with The Drovers, Geoturtle37 and Papi4506 naturally stopping to grab any caches that come on the map aiming to get as many LGA's as we can.It was very unfortunate that we got tied up at the tigers den hotel last night as we were planning on staying here the night, We are sorry that didn't work out as it is a fantastic caravan park.We notified the office of our visit as per the sign and they were super friendly and gave us directions to get here. After locating the nearby trad we headed off to this one and what a fantastic location it is. After taking quite a few pictures we continued the last little bit to gz and we can see why the question was asked because it does look like ........ We came up with a set of answers that we hope are correct and have emailed them off to the CO.Many thanks Team Thommo 's Geo son for showing us this location, a favourite point from us.
Geoturtle37 and I are travelling with Team Crackers and The Drovers, hopefully to the Cape. It was such a shame that we couldn't spend more time here as it was really beautiful and it was a somewhat hot day. There were a lot of other people taking advantage of the cool water. Thank you for bringing us here with this cache. A favourite for us.
Team Crackers, The Drovers, Papi4506 and I are all heading towards the Cape but unfortunately we are on a tight schedule. We were able to stop here but not spend as much time as we would have liked. There were a number of people taking advantage of the cool waters which certainly looked inviting. Thank you very much for bringing us here with the placing of this cache. A favourite for me.Please see Papi's log for my photo.
Staying the night at Cooktown, we ventured further north to fulfill an LGA requirement.
This was one of 3 earthcaches we found in our travels.
A spot we would not have visited but for this earthcache.
A very different waterfall to Isabella Falls and another worthy spot for an earthcache. Thanks TeamThommo for creating this earthcache and highlighting this location.
Logging with permission. Another favourite point awarded.

We’re staying at Endeavour Falls for a few nights and visited the falls again today, the blue sky and a little sunshine makes a big difference compared to yesterday’s visit under cloud.

Such an amazing spot. I explored as much as my nerves would allow.. I am very scared of getting eaten by a crocodile TFTEC
Out for an afternoon of waterfall exploration in the area, what a beautiful area (just a shame theres no swimming thanks to this Crocs). Answers sent to the CO. TFTC
In the area today and stopped by one of my old favourites to do this EC. So much bitumen makes it easy for everyone to visit these falls now. I gathered the information needed and after relaxing for a while headed off.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this earth cache for me and others to enjoy.
An interesting EC and it gets a FP from me.

It’s fantastic to see cracking geology. Pity, you can’t swim here as it looked so enticing!!
Sandyofthesea and I took off from Perth at the start of April to travel more of Australia using geocaching as a guide to see the sights. How good is this country!!
TeamThommo, I discovered great geology at Look at that mum, it's just like... today. Thanks for making this Earthcache.

Great Northern escape 2022 Day 42. Cooktown Day 1. For my first day in Cooktown I headed out to Endeavour falls. I was welcomed warmly in the shop as I checked in for my walk to the falls. It was just a short trip across their fantastic caravan park. Looks like a great place to stay if you could cope without internet. The falls are very close and were in fine form, even a few other visitors around.
After visiting the physical cache I came out to get closer to the water and find some hexagons. No dramas there, they can be seen all over the place. I grabbed a few images and headed off for a bit of a walk. Answers sent.
Thanks for the cache TeamThommo

Thanks for bringing us here. It’s been a beautiful day of rainforests and waterfalls and a lovely drive to the coloured sands. TFTC
Came past this one on the way back south from Hope Vale. Was talking to a local in the shop about crocs in the river. They said they used to swim there all the time and never saw them.
Rock formations are great and a very interesting spot.

I love visiting the places that earthcaches take me to. This was no exception, although I was a little wary because of the warning sign. Thank you for bringing me to this lovely spot....and TFTC
These hidden gems and interesting rock features are why we still pursue earthcaches. Thanks for placing this one. Answers sent. Tftc
What a great spot. We will definitely make this place our centre of operations next time we are up here.
Visited during a trip from Adelaide to the northern tip of Australia. Traveling up solo through central Queensland, I met up with e.gregory1 and a non-cacher friend near Cairns for the rest of the trip northwards to Cape York Peninsula, finding caches along the way. Thanks for the scenic earthcache TeamThommo's Geo Son!
After taking three weeks to meander my way up from Adelaide to Cairns on my own, I met up with FeatherWaite and another friend to head further north to Cape York.
We spent a night camped at Bloomfield Beach, then found this cache as we travelled north towards Hope Vale.
We called into the shop to let them know we were going through the caravan park to the nearby caches and had a chat with the friendly owner. Lovely falls.
Thanks TeamThommo for the cache.

A beautiful location and even though you cannot swim here it is very peaceful. We looked at the polygon shapes and took some photos. Great spot Team Thommo. Thanks and fav point. Photos uploaded.
Definitely worth the detour - beautiful falls and friendly staff at tourist park. And only a few minutes walk from the reception of the tourist park.
The mini rats have been away on holidays with the Rats on another fantastic family holiday. We made it all the way to Cape York and along the way we found this cache. Thanks for adding to the thrill of our holiday.

The Rats and mini rats have just returned from an amazing 6-week adventure to Cape York. Along the way we had time to stop and grab a big handful of caches, some of our finds were in the remotest parts of Australia. Thanks to all the cache owners for placing your cache, you've all contributed to us having a great holiday. Apologises for the generic log.
We'd not long left Cooktown when we pulled in here, the water looked so inviting but the sign was enjoy to deter us.
Thanks

While staying in Cooktown we visited Endeavour Falls to have a look and attempt this earthcache.
Always sad to see such lovely falls and pools that are not safe for swimming
We have seen the hexagonal basalt shapes in other places such as Millstream Falls near Ravenshoe.
Many thanks for the earthcache and teaching us a little more about this amazing world we live in Team Thommo

I visited the falls today, they are beautiful. I have seen this type of polygon tessellation before, particularly by Merri Creek in Victoria, not too far from where I live. I will send my answers to the CO shortly.
TFTC . No swimming at these falls unfortunately. Croc warning. Visiting from Newcastle NSW. On our way to Cooktown from the Cape. A gorgeous spot. Pity we couldn’t camp here as we had planned. I love these earth caches as I’m learning so much about the area.
Quick stop at the falls, sat around in the park for a while to get ready for the last few km's for the day.
Having this kind of rock plenty of times this EC was very familiar, soon had an answer composed and got a quick acknowledgment from TeamThommo
Thanks

Beautiful water fall in a very tranquil location. Fairly quiet here today, just us and another couple of visitors. We walked up along the falls a short way and came across the hexagons in the rock. Very interesting phenomena and it was also interesting to research. Thanks for another great EC location.
After chatting to the lady at reception, who steered us in the right direction of the falls, we took the short walk along to those falls. We looked at the rock formation and noticed what we needed to try and answere the questions for this cache. The answers have been sent to the CO and we were very happy to come to such a beautiful place. Thanks to the CO for creating this earthcache, which we enjoyed doing.
May Day Long Weekend finds us in Cooktown. We’ve been to this spot before but never taken the time to consider the geology of the spot
On our Cape York Adventure. Has taken a while to get here but we are having a wow of a time.
Managed to visit your cache along our journey into Cooktown.
Parked the geocruiser bought 2 icecreams then wandered down to visit the falls after asking permission. Logging with permission.

We have been lucky enough to have been on a trip to Far North Queensland and visited a number of terrific places along the way, some of which even had an earthcache for us to visit.

Day 3 of our tour up to Cooktown and then around the outback to the west of Cairns...and today it was an easy day sightseeing around Cooktown and the local area. After lunch we went out to check out the Isabella Falls and on our way back stopped off here for an ice cream (which substituted for an admission charge) and to look at the falls. Of course I couldn't go past an Earth Cache without taking the time to collect some answers and sending them off...eventually.
Thanks TeamThommo and Son for this Earth Cache.

quick trip to Cooktown to visit relatives
a morning to kill - time for a quick drive to check out some of the new ECs
went out to Isabella first and stopped in here on the way back.
Dropped into the store and got permission and directions ...
and a little stroll down to the creek
not sure if I have been in here before [?] - but it looked vaguely familiar
if I had ... it would have been a long time ago
had a look around, took some photos
and continued on our way
thanks for the EC

Just realized I had not logged this Earth Cache when HennyGeo and I did it a couple of weeks ago. I had submitted the answers then. Thanks for the awesome Earth Cache, TeamThommo.
FTF or at least First to Visit and log.
We had been out to Battle Camp Station for most of the day. On our return to Cooktown we called in to visit the Endeavour Falls and see if we could find a nearby Traditional Cache and visit this Earthcache.
We initially spoke with Jan in the office and she was more than happy for us to visit the falls area.
We followed our nose and the provide co-ordinates down to the falls where we met an elderly gentleman who was fishing in a pool at the base of the Endeavour Falls. He wasn't having much luck although an eel or two were keen to take his bait.
The area itself is cool and shady, with the falls providing that tranquil sound that only running water seems to generate. We easily located the basalt formations and were able to identify the example of Columnar Basalt that is present.
We research the formation of this pattern and forwarded our response to the CO. We have also attached a photo.
Thanks for this Earthcache in such a lovely spot. We worth a visit.
