Thanks for the fun hide! Busy day for traffic due to perfect weather. TFTC.
**19,893**Geepers, just about got blown away looking for this one. Was very glad when heard (over the rust of the wind) Found it, phew, a quick sign off and back to the van. TFTC
Random maintenance check on the way past. Everything stays perfectly dry now that the cache is well off the ground. All good here.
Kimmy+co and I decided to park on Thorley and walk a loop to gain many of these caches.
kim had cache in had before I caught my breath from the hill

My brother and I are down from Auckland for the Annual Central Easter Camp in Fielding. Of Course we are Geocaching along the way!
This is cache 6 of ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
There is a very large ant in the cache so be careful! This was a quick park and find.

Cache number 5 of today and number 30 in total.
I walked down to this entrance after a successful find at End of Transmission further up the road. It was a beautiful afternoon here at the park, the sun was shining and the tall dry grass was releasing pollen into the air. I have hay fever meaning my enjoyable walk down to this cache soon became miserable as I started feeling the effects of the pollen. Through my red, teary and itchy eyes, I was able to quickly locate the cache, with a lot of help thanks to the clue. I reached my hand down to grab it, but worryingly, its hiding spot was soaking wet. I was concerned the story would be the same in the container, though fortunately it was all dry inside. While signing the log, a muggle drove by. They gave me 'the stare' as they slowly rolled over the nearby speedbumps. I simply nodded back and they were on their way. I re-hid the cache where I found it and began my walk back to my car. Back past the tall dry grass.
Very clever little hide and thanks for bringing me out here

The plan is to do a few caches today in and around Porirua just to give my numbers a bit of a pre x-mas push.
Cache #6 of the day. Apart from the fuel savings another advantage of driving a tiny geo-mobile (Suzuki Alto) is you can park them anywhere. So that's what we did, right by the cache effectively turning this T3 into a park and grab. A nice quick find too so we weren't there for long!

Lucky there are a few signs to "read" as a family of muggles drove past just as I noticed it. TFTC
Nice hide in good nick. Had to wrangle 2 cockroaches and a spider off box but all good. TFTC
My first cache back after a couple of year hiatus and what a great cache to come back to - tricky enough to leave me thinking for awhile but simple enough for me to leave with a find logged, TFTC
At the right angle it stands out and easy to find, and as luck would have it there were no muggles in the time it took to do business. Tftc
It was not a very successful day in geocaching because there were muggles in every location we went to so we left those caches for later. Before we went back home we decided to try this cache as a last resort. The time was close to the gate closing so we thought there shouldn't be many cars coming through it. Saw only one car which wasn't really interested in us.
The cache was easy to find, absolutely loved how clever it was placed there! Well organized with a few cool things in it! TFTC!!

Out with my beautiful KTG. Out on a Geohunt for a wee while. Log was in good nick. And a few little bits of swag to play with. Opened the cache and was met by a weird looking bunny. Lol. His face expression says it all. TFTC
Another nice cache. Out today with , who always loves a bit of swag. Thanks to trancer96 for the cache. KTG
I had to be careful with my timing as there was plenty of traffic on such a glorious day, TFTC
Just two of the Stevens Four out today. A good hide, all dry, considering the recent rain. TFTC
Not many muggles out and about today with all the rain, so was able to make a quick find, TFTC
Quick find betwixt the stream of muggle cars — popular place apparently! Nice container, thanks trancer96!
We managed to find and sign this between passing muggles. Quite the stream of them on this lovely day! TFTC trancer96
Another clever hide! Just watch out for a bit of nettle near by.
One passerby sung out to see if I was alright. “All good thanks”, I replied. It’s nice in times like these that caring people are still about

A ha! After a more comprehensive search I found the original cache hidden in a rather evil location that I would certainly not have intended to send anybody to. It must have fallen down there and a previous finder thought that's where it was supposed to be! The container was still in good nick though even if the log wasn't.
Obviously I checked up on the replacement cache while I was here which should now be impervious to cache creep (you'll know if it's missing if its hiding spot is empty). I transferred the swap item from the old cache to join the ones in the new one.

Finally got around to installing this cache in such a way that it should not be subject to the water ingress that has plagued it up until now. I have eventually learned that Sistemas can remain watertight if they are not installed in the grass which is where this was and now is not.
I was surprised not to be able to find the original cache despite it being found just yesterday. I will remove it if I find.

A less than graceful slide into this one but a find nonetheless. Log book is saturated but managed to sign it. Thanks for the cache
Had to come back a second time to look for this one but found it in the end. TFTC!
Quick find on a sunny afternoon. Had to empty water out of the container, but log dry enough to write on.
Found! The log, inside of container, and inside of bag are a bit damp despite the container being sealed.
Managed to park safely and legally and to walk to it. Took the Kashin elephant as I have a share trading account with ASB and always wanted a Kashin but they only give them to kids. It’s my investing totem now.
Great log to finish off the exploration of the park! Had to check the terrain rating. Now ai can hear the fire siren over at Plimmerton. TFTC
Stopped here on our way out of Whitireia Park to get this one tagged. Cheers.
Day 19 - Tuesday 5 January 2021 -Palmerston North - Wellington - the final leg of our geotrip today.Went to slleep very tired in Hunterville last night. Woke today outside The Etherlord camp in Palmerston North. Stopped off at Whitireia Park for a couple of TMGTs to round of the trip.
The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are off on another geocaching escape over Xmas, this time to the mighty Coromandel, then over to Opotiki and stop off at Rotorua to return home on 5 January. Had an fabulous time exploring many wonders of our country. Rounding up over 400 caches along the way, with a few LABS, 20 odd TMGTs, virtuals and lots of interesting earth caches to keep the mind busy. Watching the sun come up on New Years Day at Mt Maunganui was spectacular. Lots of walking and even more driving. But had an awesome time. Thanks to all COs who made this adventure so special.

A quickish little find on the way back home from Coromandel, our very last find of the trip. By my math that makes 360 ordinary caches, plus another 60 lab caches, equals far to many. Man, I am glad to be home!!
Taybeedragon and I went on a tour of the Coromandel - one of the few places of New Zealand, especially of Te ika a Maui, that I have yet to explore throughly, and from there along the coast to Opotiki to see one of my many, many sisters. From 18 December to 5 January we found over 400 caches, including 12 adventure labs, 20 or so TMGTs and a host of virtuals and earthcaches. And I hosted an event to see the sun come up on New Year's day - surprisingly popular given that it was at 5am. We climbed a lot of hills, saw some amazing beaches that were quite popular despite (or because of) the insane access to them, walk and lot of bush, entered and explored 8 gold mines and generally had an awesome time. However I am glad to be back, but now is the hard part, and I fear it will take just as long - logging!

So I didn't make any improvement after all except for replacing the log with a waterproof one and putting the cache back. I will still have to do something about this but there's no reason to keep it disabled for now.
The cache was easy to find. The log was wet so we didn't attempt to write on it. The container was holding water too. Tftc.
Not sure why this cache is more prone to water ingress than others with the same container. Will try something different. Will remove the manky cache today but it might not get replaced at the same time.
PLEASE mark as needs maintenance if you can't sign a cache!

Early morning drive down for a walk around Whitireia Park Reserve. Thanks trancer96 for the cache.
Coming in to the park. Good quick find, some water in container. All good. Tftc!
Last cache of the day.. All finds and no DNF's so a great day out. Ezratar loved the walks and the geohound really enjoyed being out again. T4TC
Out and about in the Geocamper doing TMGT's and anything else nearby, and attending a few meetings in various towns. Mr S found this one while Mrs S talked to the Stop - Go man working the road. He was stopping the traffic up and down according to when the helicopter was working. We all see these guys working all over the country and they deserve a little recognition. The job is either boring, hot, cold or deadly.
Thanks trancer96.
Thanks trancer96.
Located this one during a cache raid of the Wellington while chasing TMGT caches. No problem with the find TFTC.
It's Waitangi Day, and I also have tomorrow off in order to get a well-earned 4 day weekend. What better way to kick off a long weekend than heading off to a target-rich environment to try for a few caches, including some of the TMGT series caches, and others encountered along the way such as this one.
It being a glorious day (as is so often the case around here) there were a few Muggles floating around, but none near GZ as I approached. I was actually able to park on the side of the road near GZ without blocking anyone. The cache itself was a pretty quick find in the second location I looked.
Apart from a little water in the main container, there were no issues encountered with the log, the usual administration was swiftly seen to and then everything was replaced exactly as found and I was soon on my way to the next one.
Thanks trancer96 for setting this one up.

We came to Whitireia Park for the TMGT Virtual, and on our return drive through the park took the opportunity to pick up the trads too. Our last one in the park, thanks.
Quick find today. Surprising how many vehicles pass by when you are in close proximity of a cache. TFTC.
I parked as close to GZ as I could and then made my way on foot. After waiting for a number of cars to pass I began my search and am pleased to say it was a nice quick find. The cache was full of water. So the log book has been signed and the cache is nicely back in it's spot all ready for the next hunter. Thanks heaps for taking the time to set up this cache. I really appreciate your efforts in doing so. This cache is a milestone for me as it is my 2000th find. TFTC
A nice quick find today.
Christmas holiday road trip to Auckland. Day three, a shortish drive to Palmerston North.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

My main aim was the TMGT series caches...bit couldnt drive past this one...thanks for the placement trancer96
A blustery old day today. Headed into the park in large motor home - interesting. Took a while for the GPS to settle here. Thanks for bringing us here trance69
Found 2.10pm
Today,s challenge was to collect all the TMGT caches in the greater Wellington area plus anything else we could find.
Morning started from Marton with a DNF. Hoping this was not a bad omen.
Anyway things improved and we got everything we wanted for the day and ending back in Whanganui.
Collected also some interesting caches and probably my fav for the day was the caves. Also some amazing history in this area.
Thanks to all the cache owners for these placements. SLTFTC

With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... This weekend’s mission was about completing the North Island leg of the TMGT. It involved a fairly extensive road trip through the Wellington, Manawatu/Whanganui, and Taranaki regions. We also made a plan to pick up other caches along our driving route...
Our visit seemed to coincide with the arrival of a ‘golden-oldies’ cycle group. They were not the fastest hill climbers, so we did have to wait for the bulk of the team to move through. The tail end rested above ground zone and we waited for them to move on too... Thanks trancer96 and TFTC.

Nice and easy cache following good hint. Watched a guy mowing the grass on the slope opposite with a remote controlled device, amazing.
A wet and miserable day, but my travels have taken me here so braved the elements and made the find here. All safe and dry. TFTC
I am going through one of those phases where I try to include a few caches that have previously eluded me. This is another one for the "I searched pretty hard for it the first time but found it immediately on the second attempt" category. Hmmmm!
# 285 Mum is catching up on all my logs. So i would have found this cache with Gr33nslime at some point. Im only three but hoping that I have more found more caches than weeks alive! Thanks for the cache. i enjoy swapping all the toys!
Hopefully mum got this one right, she just published 40 logs that werent the right log! Clearly mum does not know how to use GSAK!

# 1662 Out on a mission with the DangerBOY today to pick up a few caches to help me along for the 35 required for the Mystery at the Museum Challenge. We did the loop around the head land and picked this one up on the way back out.
Did a naughty and parkd and grabbed using the convenient driveway. Was at the second hint item i inspected. Note to self, park closes at 6 pm. We got here at 10 am and left about 1:30 pm.... long day at the park. Cache a bit wet inside, so had to drain the excess water out... once again proves to me that sistemas are rubbish for caches... but so convenient. Cheers trancer 96 for another for my numbers.

I was able to park near the cache as the gate was closed tonight. Stumbled around with my torch a little but then managed to spot the cache.

For a long time we have wanted to get some smiley faces along this bike trail and these few days off in the camper were the very excuse we needed to do them. The ride was very enjoyable and very easy with just a little breeze. It was great to see such an array of different hides and to see some of the country side from a different angle. All hides appeared to be in good condition and the co ords were usually spot on
Many thanks for bringing us to this area
