Find number 14639 at 12:35:00pm on Saturday the 16 November 2024Camping in Daylesford for the next week for a mini family camping reunion over the weekend, I've arrived early to have a look around and do some geocaching.Out for another early drive this morning looking around and grabbing some geocaches, mostly chasing Multi's for a calendar year challenge but grabbing a few others as well.Out this afternoon for some sightseeing around Hepburn Springs, this one involved a lot of back and forth when combined with the Adventure Labs and the Multi nearby.**Thanks for placing this cache Snap Happy**---*WOW, so much happening at home in Victoria*Dont forget to log your will attend for Victorias first ever Block Party in March 2025, the [**The Sunbury Event**](https://coord.info/GCAP417).Theres also all those lists of amazing geocaches at [Geocaching Victorias List webpage]( https://geocachingvictoria.com.au/information/great-caching-lists), go check them out.
Today was jam packed! It started with a surprise visit to watch my niece at swimming first thing. Then off to visit my camping group south of Daylesford, and then off to the Earthcache event in Vaughan Springs.I pulled into this carpark and lo and behold who should be in the middle of the road but Mr Tritonz. We teamed up and completed this adventure together.I really am not a fan of this mineral water!A big thanks goes to Snap Happy for taking the time to add Hepurn Springs Rocks to the geocaching map for us all to find and enjoy.----------------------------------------------------------Wow! Visited 21 September 2024 at 8:56am.Apparently we got it all right. So catnap777 and I have been given the go ahead to log after our walk around GZ sampling some of the finest free water on the planet and of course gleaning the information needed for our colluded submission to the CO. [^]We had plans of doing some serious hiking this day, but it sure was nice to start the day with a gentle stroll. Thanks Snap Happy for an Earthcache that rocks and a great excuse to wander the grounds before heading south to take on Lerderderg.
Visited this site with dalerious as we were based here in Hepburn springs, whilst hiking Lerderderg. I remember my parents bringing us here many moons ago, but I can tell you it didn't look anything like this.Enjoyed walking around gathering the information required to answer the questions with confidence. It was interesting tasting the mineral water at the source without human intervention. Thank you for bringing us here Snap Happy, it was a pleasure to walk around the gardens and springs.
We had decided during the week to head to the Great Red Beard bakery in Trentham today for a lovely lunch. We set off early as the geomobile Rogue was due for a service and needed dropping off. We then set sail towards Daylesford in A'Tuin, the other geomobile, and watched the weather change from overcast to drizzly. We wanted to find five geocaches in the Hepburn LGA for a Challenge cache we are working towards (we were sitting on 95 Hepburn finds this morning). We arrived at the cache and another attractive mineral springs location. It was drizzling slightly, but that didn't deter us as we took the geodogs for a walk while we collected the information for the two Earthcaches in the area.Thank you Snap Happy for this Earthcache.
I fumbled around this cache trying to hold it together as I was sick on a very rare weekend away. Muggle hubby did his best to support me and I am very grateful to Snap Happy for accepting my pitiful answersLoved the rock carvings. I look forward to returning to further explore this lovely areaMany thanks Snap HappyRegardskbucky
Out and about today with some random cache stops. This cache was a destination location. Enjoyed these specimens and the area Thanks to Snap Happy for the fun and the adventure.
This was a peaceful spot to visit in the early morning before the rain came. It has been ages since we were down this way and enjoyed trying the water and completing the two ECs in the area. Answers emailed to the CO. TFTC.
Logging in the hope my answers are OK! Cygnus3333 and I + #1 muggleing visited the Reserve to walk and get some springwater on a short daytrip to drop off #2 muggling nearbyish. We headed upstream for a kilometre or so before turning back again, sampling the springs where the pumps worked, eventually returing here where we filled a bottle for #2 and I gathered the required information (I hope!...) TFTEC Snap Happy - a pleasant spot for a walk even when it was a bit chilly, and definitely muddy (at least along the trail upstream).
Wandering around the area learning many a thing and regretting tasting some of the springs.
I took pics of the rock but forgot a selfie. Answers sent.

Great little find for the morning. First time I’ve had to make my map find coordinates. Spent quite a bit of time confirming I found the two objects trying to get the map to read South not north! The middle of an ocean didn’t seem right!
did this together with the wyuna cache. my tongue still has a metallic tang to it
I have mixed emotions about the Hepburn Springs, I remember coming here as a young child to taste some nice and some not so nice tasting water, none of this fancy stuff was here it was just pipes coming out of the ground at some of the wells, it's amazing how it has become a meca for some health nuts. Any way I digress, I loved sculptures that can teach us about rocks in an easy way to understand, some Earth caches are just to confusing but not this one? FAV from Me.
Thanks

Nice wander around the springs today, you know, looking at rocks and stuff. Thanks for the cache!
MrGravel and I were visiting non cacher friends in Daylesford and we came to see this delightful area. Turns out my friend with Fibromyalgia will be using the nearby mineral spa as part of her treatment.
Will have to revisit another year on our own (without non cachers) to do the other caches in this area
Answers sent to CO along with a photo.

Found on our Daylesford Hepburn weekend. Wandered around sampling the springs and comparing flavours. This is a great spot. Thanks.
Whilst sending some time in the area for the Wife's Birthday, it was time to try to get a couple of caches in whilst the wife had a Nana nap.
Last weekend, paid yet another visit to the bathhouse , and while collecting some mineral water, decided to get an earth cache too. Thanks for directing my attention to the rocks, as I would have focused only on the water otherwise.
Thanks for the lesson on the springs and the rocks around it.
A late log as a bunch ended up in my drafts!

Had a lovely walk around the Springs Reserve completing 2 Earth Caches before retiring to the Bath House. Thanks for creating this rocking cache.
A fab tour on foot with the fam, and read the rocks as we visited the springs
The Sulphur Spring was quite fizzy but not as tasty as Wyuna All up I taste tested 8 around the region.

The Dynamic Dutch Duo of Hans (HansandLinda) and myself teamed up today, starting our day at Cairn Curran with a paddle, then some bushwalking trads, and a few multis. We had worked out way through the multi here that took us past all the various springs, then visited these ECs as we were finishing up. I also had not been here for many years so was good to come back to the area today.
Thx Snap Happy for this EC, answers submitted by Hans on behalf of both of us.

TFTC. Together with Perpetually Lost we visited Hepburn Springs after a morning kayaking on Cairn Curran. We had targeted a few multis and collected information for the Earthcaches. A lovely afternoon wandering around the Springs area. Answers have been forwarded to the CO on behalf of both teams
Many days spent in Daylesford as a child, picnics, visiting the Springs and the Lakes. So I took some bottles to fill with the health waters, hoping to cleanse the body after the big Xmas binge! Lovely day and thank you for sending us here, great to note that Edna Walling created the bridge nearby!
Beautiful area in my trek through Daylesford and Hepburn springs...thank you for this interesting Earthcache on a very hot sunny day
After camping with good friends for the night we got up this morning to find the weather not so fine but thought that we should try and find a few caches before it turned nasty.
With the weather today we were happy to arrive to find the car park almost deserted and we were able to park very close to wpt1. We headed off and as we were collecting the answers we heard a familiar voice yell out as micaparamedic approached us. We finished collecting the info after we had a bit of a chat and then heade doff to wpt2 where again we did what was required.
Once this was done we headed off to do the other earth cache here
Many thanks snaphappy for setting up this cache and for showing us this location, answers sent in by micaparamedic for both teams, a favourite point from us.

After camping at Vaughan for the night, we headed out with ilookgeo and picked up some caches as our journey took us to some interesting places today. This was an interesting earthcache and it was a pleasure to wander around the area. Answers to the questions have been sent to the CO. Have visited the area many years ago, but were happy to visit again with a different focus this time. Thanks to Snap Happy for creating this earthcache.
It was a fun caching day today along with goingplaces2. We found some traditional caches, did some multi caches as well as some earthcaches. It was a good day and this was one of the caches that we found. TFTC.
After completing the nearby EC I furiously started to gather what was needed for this one in a race against my fast dwindling phone battery. Fortunately I had made a couple of notes about what was required in my notebook, so when the phone eventually died about 30m from WP2 all I had to do was correctly gauge where I needed to be. Hoping that I managed to do so, answers have been submitted. Thanks for bringing me here, havent been to this place for many a year.
The OBE Aging Bushfire left Geelong with the young Flynn230103 early in the morning to head up to Daylesford to grab a few Earth Caches as I require seven to go up a level in my BadgeGen list and Flynn requires 5 for his first E.C.Badge
The good weather sure has brought out the visitors as it was very hard to find a park.
I have been here a couple of times in the past but things have changed since then. The taste of the water still not to my liking as I prefer a good white or red wine.
I could not get over the number of folk filling up 10 & 20 litre drums of this yucky spring water.
As we are not geologists we hope these answers will give us a tick of approval after you run them past your professional team of examiners.
Thanks Snap Happy for the time and effort in placing this Earth Cache.

I was out and about today with Bushfire chasing down some earthcaches for International Earthcache Day. It was quite hot today and the perfect weather for geocaching. We both come from Geelong and we were driving up past Daylesford so it was quite a drive to get to the caches that we wanted to attempt. We found a few TBs along the way and we can put some extra km on them by taking them back to Geelong. I had a new GPS device to test out today so I was really excited to see it's capabilities. Bushfire's $800 GPS overshadowed mine a bit but at least I don't have to use my phone anymore!
Wow! Down here people seemed like the mineral water was there only source of water! I personally think the water there tastes awful. We think we found the answers, Bushfire will send them on. TFTC

Interesting spot with scenic and historical features. Came across this area while staying overnight for a quick trip to Daylesford. TFTC.
Travelling the back roads of VIC on this glorious day has brought us to this wonderful little spot that just happens to have a few caches and a number of mineral springs. I can imagine this place could get very busy given the number of places to gather water from, but today it was reasonably quiet which allowed us to gather up the information we needed. TNLN. TFTC. Found this with mum (Simber15). She sent through my answers for me. Enjoyed the spring water. Sulphur was my favourite. So delicious.
Beautiful location for a walk and a picnic! Tftc enjoyedthe taste testing with the kids.
Today I headed out for a daytrip to the Castlemaine area with Jacko, making the most of the cooler weather to enjoy some bushy terrain.
Still early in the morning we stopped in the Daylesford and Hepburn Springs area.
On a quiet overcast day we had the whole place to ourselves. I guess on a hot day we could have done with some revival from all these springs!
It's amazing how different these rocks look when they have been polished like that.
Answers emailed (28 June 2018) and promptly confirmed by the CO.

Heading North today with Pacman and Bentley just smashing out what we can as we love this part of the world.
A nice morning starting off in Hepburn where the leaves had fallen and a slight chill in the air.
Took the time to examine the rocks here and gather the answers which have been sent.
Nice spot - thanks very much for the EC!

I finally got around to sending my answers off for this Earthcache. It is an interesting place to visit from a geological point of view. I’ve been in the area before, of course, but not really looked at it from this perspective. Thanks for bringing us back here for another reason, Snap Happy.
Third Earthcache for us in a day. Crazy times! Actually I'm warming up to Earthcaches and they are a great addition to the game.
We got the clues and admired the crowds around here on a long weekend. Everyone out having fun, BBQing, playing fetch with their dog, etc. A great day to be alive and well.
Thanks Snap Happy for the relatively new EC and bringing these stones to our attention, which would otherwise go unnoticed!

Logging with c/o permission. Ooops nearly forgot to log this one. Headed here with kenare,Sean.75, kenbryl and mippy after grabbing a couple of caches in Daylesford. With lunch in hand and not much faith in our abilities to solve earth caches but we had a crack and to our surprise we had the answers required. A very enjoyable ec in a lovely place that I used to visit as a child. Thanks for bringing me here

Jenno3, Sean.75, kenbryl, Muggle Mippy and I came over Daylesford way for the day. We headed out here to try some of the water and see if we were observant and clever enough to attempt this EC. There were a few people about as we made our way around and checked out the amazing rocks. Thanks for putting together an informative, interesting and straight forward EC that we didn't have to be geologists to work out! Lol! I used avoid Earthys but now I really enjoy them! Tftc

Did this ages ago and forgot to log it. Enjoyed the area and finding out more about it Thanks Snap Happy
Really struggled with this one. Not because it's about geology (not my strong suit!), but because there was a furious game of cricket going on there, with one of the rocks being used as the drinks table! Regardless, I gathered as much info as I could and submitted the answers. Apparently they were good enough.
Thanks for making take the time to study these a bit closer than I usually would.

Came to Daylesford for a week end break and thought we would do a spot of caching as we went. Had a go at 4 various caches and didn't find any of them!! Partly because two of the tracks were shut because of slips or flood damage. Folks told us that this track was closed, so we turned back and went the other way. TFTC. Still had a lovely walk.

A beautiful spot thanks for the earthcache and the geography lesson - although it is slippery out here and I'm going to have a nice big shin bruise to show for it - ouch!
Logged with permission. We stopped by here on our way back to Melbourne from Sandon. While we were trying out the water in the nearby Wyuna and Sulphur Springs, we also wandered down this part to have a look at the Pavillion Cafe and do this Earthcache as well. The geokids also spent some time playing in the playground while MrsHyde got her massage and facial at a nearby spa. TFTC.
Explored this park the other day whilst spending the day earth caching, or smurfcaching as the kids call it (probably just because the never do listen!). We had two other families tagging along, and mini picnics at every stop. Thanks for the fun. TFTC great spot!
Visited here with Dad and Zane and managed this one cache before the phone went flat. TFTC
In Hepburn for a kid free weekend and made the most of it to recharge and grab a cache or two, this place was just the right place for it too. Managed to grab the required info and after a little taste test of the local drop went for a wander around the area. Answers submitted and given the go ahead to log. Thanks Snap Happy for bringing us to this area and the cache.
A lovely morning today in Daylesford with hubby and the kids. We went to the market first then came down here for a wander. So much to see! So many springs. We enjoyed our walk and spat much of the water back out! Answers have been emailed. Many thanks

I have never been much of a fan of natural mineral water but always interested in how it comes about. This definitely is a tourist location, a lot of man made structure but interesting all the same.We parked nearby WP1 and walked along the path gathering the required info. Not much water in the little creek and lots of people gathering the spring water to take home. Answers sent to the CO and photo attached.

Special trip to Hepburn in the drizzly rain to find a few earthcaches. Like the drive, the views, the rocks and trees and so this one ticked plenty of boxes. Fallen tree on path at GZ blocked the access to first waypoint but plenty else to see and discover. FP. TFTC Snap Happy.
Growing up in Ballarat we often spent time picnicking at Hepburn Springs with family, enjoying the lovely surroundings and filling up empty soft drink bottles with the mineral water from the tap. Its much more sophisticated these days with fancy taps and even more springs, day spas...
Caching in the Daylesford and Castlemaine area today we headed to Hepburn to tackle the 2 earthcaches here and reminisce of days gone by.

Suscoe was heading home after a terrific day caching around Castlemaine,
It had been a delightful summer's day with cloud and a mild wind.

A pleasant stroll along the little valley and a nice geological lesson here before our eyes.

Logging with permission. An interesting EC - one I wont forget.
I enjoyed my look around this area. One that I have visited many times over the years and boy has it changed.
The weather was very kind today and people were out and about. In fact one muggle asked if I worked there and was the water safe to drink???

It's International Earthcache Day, there was an event at the nearby Sailors Falls and there is are two challenge caches put out which require the the finder to have found a certain number of earthcaches. Whilst I had permission to log the relatively nearby Sailors Falls earthcache I thought I'd go on to the reserve for a twofer, this and its neighbour - Wyuna and Sulphur Springs.
The bonus? A very quick response from the CO and I can claim STF given its newness. Not bad for someone not from the area or even the two nearby caching powerhouses - Ballarat and Geelong!
I very much enjoyed gathering the info for this one as it was a nice gentle stroll in a very picturesque location plus of course I learnt something about basalt and granite.
Cheers, Snap Happy!
I have always enjoyed this area. With 2 earthcaches to find it was an added bonus. Of course I tasted all of the springs as well.
A fine but windy morning here and the two distinctive rock forms were soon found and easily identifiable.
Many thanks to Snap happy for placing this one for us to find on international earthcache day!
An excellent area to visit thanks snap happy for hooking me up with an earthcache to do this international earthcache day. 3 visits in a couple of weeks
Beautiful day, perfect for this popular area. People everywhere but no-one taking notice of me. Lots of diversity in the rocks in the area, we noticed evidence of flood waters rushing through. Thanks Snap Happy, I have been to this area many times but never really stopped to notice the geology, a favourite from me. Answers e-mailed. FTF confirmed by the C.O.
