We were on the way to Te Kaha and stopped on in here to grab a few caches. This was a nice spot.
Auf dem Weg zum Strand konnten wir uns diesen Tradi nicht entgehen lassen. Mit 8 Augen kurz gesucht und am 5.10.24 um 15:20 gefunden. Berliner Socke bedankt sich fr diesen Cache
HEAPS of webs. Pretty big tree . Tip:look for the mushrooms and spider webs.
What an amazing tree, to start with I went that way, no sign of the cache, ok let's check another part, nope not there, now another area, I did not order these thick and large cobwebs, while removing said cobwebs I spotted the cache, have now signed and returned the cache, tftc
Took my older brother for his first find, he was low key excited nice easy one for him then we hit a good walk to a trig for a find with a cool hidden Camo find TFTC log getting damp
Cache sitting out in tbe open - have tucked it away out of sit and covered with what I could find
Thanks HKCB for the cache. It’s #1714 for us. We found your cache on 25 May 2023.
Nice spot away from the maddening crowd!! Found a trackable too so we’ll move it along.

Went all the way round hint item before something caught my eye. Then how to get to it. Well hidden. Kimbathelion dropped off TB.
We are at the Seascape Studio's so very close to the cache. Nice tree! Thank you for the cache.
A quick find as the cache was out in the open. I added a replacement log inside a ziplock bag and JustLookingOO returned it to the most likely hiding spot according to the hint and description. The ‘needs maintenance’ can be removed.
What a lovely location, thanks for the cache

Holidaying up this way with muggle family and friends. TrinityNZ and I (the only non-muggles) decided to visit the local sights a little further afield.
A magical spot - what a huge magnificient tree, and no busy summer crowds.
Found the empty cache container lying in open - we dropped in a replacement log sheet and hid in a suitable nook, with a bit of camo for good measure.
All set to go. TFTC

Just finished a job around the corner and saw this on the map. Unfortuntely, I didnt download the cache details offline or look at the details, so when I got to the carpark I couldnt look up them up or navigate to it.
I thought with a tree like that, how hard could it be? So wandered down the track to the beach.
As I got to the tree, I saw a likely container under the branch and dug it out. What do you know, a well marked cache container!
Luck was on my side, however, when I opened it, it was completely empty. Dry, but empty.
I had nothing with me I could place as a temporary log, so took a photo.
Thanks for bringing me to this beautiful area. The lovely big pohutukawa was just starting to bloom. It will look fabulous in time for Xmas.

Found it way to easily - a muggle has been here before me and the cache was just lying in the fork of the tree, empty. A real disappointment. Lovely spot though. Cache definitely needs everything replacing. i’ve re hidden it at the base of the tree but there’s nothing actually in the cache.
Checked on this one while in the area. Cache had been moved slightly so have replaced in original spot. Please re-cover when replacing.
Think we found the correct one but a little away from GPS. Lots of old plastic bottles strewn around the base of the tree.May need checking.
On a holiday and just happened to see if there was any caches around. First one found!
Visited this spot during my East Cape Easter 2021 journey.
Lovely hide! Beautiful beach.

Luckily the cache box was large, as there are quite a few Pohutukawa roots you had to check ... A wonderful area, have a walk along the beach !
Quick find on the way to do some nearby caches. It's already getting warm so won't tarry as there's still a walk to be done. Will come and spend longer with the family another day. Cache is in good condition. Thanks for bringing me here.
We have met up with The Seagnoids sister in outback Opotiki. Now we are out exploring with KiwiOAM7 and hubby, exploring around Opotiki. Come to check out Ohiwa Beach. Great tree here. Left our calling card. Cheers .
Day 16 - Saturday 2 January 2021 - Whakatane to Opotiki today. Some TMGTs to visit before we leave town. Meeting up with The Seagnoids sister for the evening. And the rains came, with drums beating and an awesome night lights show.
The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are off on another geocaching escape over Xmas, this time to the mighty Coromandel, then over to Opotiki and stop off at Rotorua to return home on 5 January. Had an fabulous time exploring many wonders of our country. Rounding up over 400 caches along the way, with a few LABS, 20 odd TMGTs, virtuals and lots of interesting earth caches to keep the mind busy. Watching the sun come up on New Years Day at Mt Maunganui was spectacular. Lots of walking and even more driving. But had an awesome time. Thanks to all COs who made this adventure so special.

Interesting tree at GZ - the roots are quite a tangle. Or was that the branches? Or both? Felt like a 3D maze! Nice cache size here.
Taybeedragon and I went on a tour of the Coromandel - one of the few places of New Zealand, especially of Te ika a Maui, that I have yet to explore throughly, and from there along the coast to Opotiki to see one of my many, many sisters. From 18 December to 5 January we found over 400 caches, including 12 adventure labs (60 caches), 20 or so TMGTs and a host of virtuals and earthcaches. And I hosted an event to see the sun come up on New Year's day - surprisingly popular given that it was at 5am. We climbed a lot of hills, saw some amazing beaches that were quite popular despite (or because of) the insane access to them, walk a lot of bush, entered and explored 8 gold mines and generally had an awesome time. However I am glad to be back, but now is the hard part, and I fear it will take just as long - logging!

Nice spot here. Nice quick find and all good here. Many Thanks for bringing me here cheers.
We were exploring more of this are and probably wouldn’t have come this way if it wasn’t for the cache. Little one made short work of the find before Mrs even had a chance getting to GZ. Tftc
Staying right opposite in this lovely little place. A nice quick find. TFTC
Decided to get out of my snail shell while the weather was good. It was forecasted not to last.
A great big pohutukawa tree..
Cheers for the cache.

Having a break at Beach so did some geocaching on way there and 4 days later some on way home. Had lunch here and then went looking. Found with a bit of scrambling but easy to find. Signed log. Another smile.
Beautiful beach, easy enough to find, huge beautiful tree to sit under for a few min, listening to the waves crushing
None of us having ever been here we were curious to come down and have a look and we were certainly impressed by the sheer beauty of the area - it is stunning! Parked up the car and saw a fellow dog owner was beginning the trudge back up the path to their lodging. We passed and she warned us that there had been a nasty dog attack along the beach yesterday - and one lost finger from a dog attack last year being plenty, we resolved to quickly get the cache and retreat to the car, particularly as by now the sand is getting paw-burningly hot.
Got to GZ and saw the obvious item - Mrs Tuolei was doing the scampering about the area while I looked after Albert but after hanging over a particular bit of the hint item saw the suspicious area and called her attention to it - sure enough that was the cache.
Nice sized cache and some swag which we left. Thanks for the cache, all good here.

A nice quick find today with Ms_KR. Its been a while since I have seen a pohutakawa like this.
Christmas holiday road trip to Auckland. Day seven, from Gisborne to Whakatane.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

Neat spot. Climb on base and look down. Shame about the rubbish everywhere. We picked it all up.
Great spot! It started bucketing again, so it was a quick run to gz, where I was nicely sheltered from the rain by the huge trees! TFTC!!
#790 - On my way to Waihau Bay to pick up the lil guy who's been away visiting the grandparents for some of the school holidays. It's good to get these caches that I always drive past! Plus I've never even been down to this spot!! what a great place, and a beautiful big old tree. THanks for bringing here TFTC
In the evening we found our last cache of this day. We are over night in the nearby vacancy, so we could make a nice walk at the beach.

Today I ripped the kids from their devices and bundled them into the car! I was heading East clearing as much of the coast as I could and ended up only one DNF in Opotiki. A great day, good weather, and a couple of the walks were longer then anticipated so we'll all sleep well tonight.
Cache found quickly and in good condition although I must admit I wasn't expecting to find an HKCB cache this far out of the Waikato haha. Cheers HKCB, TFTC

Out on a beautiful sunny day for caching, and what a beautiful view from here. Cache is all good. Worth a favorite tftc
Great catch - good condition. Found by my geo-assistant aka Dad while we are in the area visiting his old childhood haunts!! TFTC
Headed over to the coast for a couple of days fishing. But the weather wasn't really playing nice. So we did some geocaching instead. Mrs S got this one after a bit of hunting and climbing and bending.
Thanks HKCB.
Thanks HKCB.
Forgot to log this one a while back - I was on a road trip with my daughter who was working down this way. Nice place for a break and a rest - took us a little while to spot it , looking over , under and behind and finally spotted it. No time to do other caches in the area but I am looking forward to coming back. TFTC
815am came via the beach while the kids were still asleep at Ohiwa camp. Nice walk along the beach not many people about yet nice quick find at GZ back to camp now.

Last night my searchPartner and I went for a walk along the beach from Ohiwa Holiday Park to find this cache.
The pohutakawa tree was impressive! After clambering over it and under it we found the substantial cache and it was in great condition.
Thank you HKCB for placing this cache in such a beautiful location. TN SL Added a Rattl painted stone - an otter perhaps?
