Matagouri is spending a couple of days in Auckland doing work 'stuff', so I've tagged along for a bit of a caching adventure. I was dropped off at Cornwell Park to begin my day, which was nearly 8 hrs of wandering around Auckland. I'm not sure how many k's I covered, but it was a lot!!!A nice quick find in an interesting spot. Thanks for putting this here
Clever little cache here. Glad for the hint to get us to gz. Fp for the container. Tftc
I'm sure I said this the last time I found a cache in this series, but it's still true - I need to give Hunt for the Wilderpeople a rewatch! I don't remember the prison being in it, so clearly it's been too long. Thankfully a nice easy find at GZ today, and managed to retrieve and sign discreetly, despite the consistently high amount of traffic in the area. TFTC!

Nice one, had to read the hints to make sure I was looking for the right place, and it's a bit different than all the other caches I had found.
Happy new year 2024! Found the cach on my North Island trip during my 6 months volunteering in NZ. Tftc!
Day 12: Waitakere and the Western LineTodays journey took us to Titirangi and Arataki in the morning to look at some Kauri trees and to explore the region. After that, it was a quick sojourn to Bethells Beach / Te Henga and then I took the train from Swanson to Kingsland to pick up some long overdue puzzles and multis that I have been meaning to get. Finally, it was on to the city for dinner - a truly busy day today, and thanks for all the caches and puzzles that I found! (End of the cut and paste bit)Heres the specific log for this cache:Last in the area before heading into the city for dinner, and this was a very quick one in front of a very aesthetically pleasing piece of architectural history, though as the board informs me, it too has a dark past. Sort of yin and yang sort of thing going on here. An easy find here though by the look of things, this looks like a very odd replacement for what I suspect is a better fitting original cache. But, all is well, so TFTC!
This was a cool cache to retrieve. No muggles, just heaps of cameras looking at your every move.
Found it Great directions to it, Cool little inconspicuous cache plain sight for those who kmow, but no muggle would even notice Cool historic backdrop too TFTC
Find #581Found today while wandering round the city trying to beat the jetlag. Located very quickly here, looks like some camo here has potentially gone missing. Signed as LBB to save space. Cache is in good condition
I take my cap off to you! Great hide - although the hint should say light post! TFTC!
Find #166
Thought I had bottled my chances of getting a smiley when the GPS led me to a site under construction; however, managed to cap off the hunt with logbook in hand. Thanks for the placement!

Stealth required? Mmmh, imagine you can't reach the cache and you need to ask a muggle for help...
In my case the muggle was very excited about the game she had never heard of and about the secret world that all of a sudden opened up to her. Maybe the next geocacher?
Spotted easily. Thanks for hiding and maintaining. Tftc

Easy find on an alternative lunch stroll to grab a couple of extra local caches
i was walking at i opened geocacher and looked and found a geo thing nearby
Easy find once I realised it wasn't a power pole like the hint said but the street light.
Love the hide.
Love the hide.
Up this way for Event
So now time to go back to the Huntly
Last one for the day nice easy find
Thanks

A quick find with SJT_NZ as we are staying nearby, thanks rustynz for the clever hide, plenty of room left on log.

gps was off but really enjoyed finding it from the hint - hidden in plain sight indeed
Cool looking old building. Coords a bit out but hint meant fast find. Container was a nice variation on the theme, thanks rustynz! Nothing dodgy about hanging around outside a prison where a road crew is also working
Hope this is not a double log but first post didn't stick. Tftc, I used to box nearby and knew parking would be ok on public holiday. Nice find after reading the hint as GPS had me way off.
I was out for a walk up Mount Eden again, and on my way back I still had some time before my afternoon lecture so I stopped by this cache. It wasn't very nice walking to it because of all the construction and traffic and temporary pedestrian crossings that cars didn't take any notice of. Eventually I made it and managed to find the cache using the hint. My coords were pointing 31 meters away, but the hint was specific enough to take me to the right spot. All good here.
Thank you!
Thank you!
I was expecting to find some idiot supporters of Tamaki nearby but I didn't ... I found the cache though. Quite an imposing looking old building and great to discover today. Thanks rustynz, a bold hide.
Nice to get another in this series and a first sight of the prison, classic stonework and design. I had to pass on first attempt as there was click and collect at the nearby business but grabbed and signed on return. All good here thanks rustynz.
And so, finally, we are allowed to go Geocaching again after just over 7 weeks lockdown when caching, and other non-essential activities were not recommended to be done to reduce the spread of covid, and reduce unnecessary movement through areas. Plenty of time on my hands to solve puzzles, not solve puzzles and read logs of previous finders of caches, and to message a few other cachers to discuss 'stuff.
Not a huge amount of caches found but managed my last 2 regional 'hidden months' (both from 2001) as well a Wherigo and a couple of solved puzzles and a final Ad Lab stage to complete that one. The weather was nice and warm and was good to be on the trails again and not cooped up getting up to meme mischief. Thanks to all COs.

Lovely walk on a lockdown day. Time to stop amd look at the old prison. A great castle TFTC
Quick find, the cache is exposed as the camouflage cover is gone. Visiting Auckland on HMCS Calgary
After another failure with Larry, I wandered along Boston Road towards this one. Luckily I read the hint before arriving, otherwise I would have been very confused with all the works going on. The cache was a quick find after that. Replacing was trickier because it was at this time (at about 5.30 in the morning) that all of Auckland had decided to travel down these roads so it was a while before I got a chance to replace. Neat little container. All good here, and TFTC
Apologies to the CO, I didn't realise that the cache had been moved since I found it last! I'm going to go and have to find it again now
Checked on cache, it is not missing.
This is not a typical hide.
The power pole is across the road on the corner. It is not hidden, very obvious when you see it.

The whole road is ripped up now, because of the City Rail Link. It's not possible that it's in the same spot that it was when I found it a few years ago.
#8904. I thought New Year holiday weekends might be a good time to do a few inner city caches, foolishly thinking there would be lots of parking available. Well I was wrong about that. Parking was full in most streets and Wilsons were doing their best to bleed the country dry and take the profits offshore. Five dollars for 20 minutes - are you kidding me! Rip-off merchants. They should hang their head in shame but greedy folk haven't heard of that word.
Any way there seemed to be some empty parking nearby so parked around the corner and wandered past the workmen still working on the railway lines over the New Year holiday. The GZ was busy but no-one was looking at me so was able to make a quick snatch, sign and replace. Interesting concept for a cache container. A westie special its seems.
Got back to the car and a truck was parked behind me. The driver was nice enough and moved it so I could get out. A city that never sleeps it seems. Thanks rustynz for the cache.

That might be the quickest cache find I have ever had!
Nice container!
Thanks!
Nice container!
Thanks!
New cache hidden, please take note that due to the removal of the trees and ongoing works for the CRL (city rail link), the cache has been moved across the road temporarily.
It is magnetic, attached to the power pole on the corner of Auburn and Boston roads. See hint; reach high.

I have been notified the trees have been cut down, will go and check for an alternative hide, but for now cache disabled
Tried the multicache at Mt Eden, although I didn’t finish that one. Stopped by on the way home for this one
Looked for quite some time around the wrong tree tonight, the GPS had me 20m away at GZ. But once you see it, you know it's close-by . I reckon they should transform the old prison into escape rooms, that would be quite fun. Only 2 more numbers to get to the final. TFTC
How I missed this the first time I looked is beyond me - this time the hardest bit was getting the log paper out of the tube! Mind you I didn’t read the hint till later and it wasn’t in the tree I first thought. TFTC
