#5.683The cache is still there to be found. Today the container just layed on the ground so we replaced it to the side. Nonetheless the container and the inside needs to be renewed. As this cache and owner seems to be connected to the DOC this seems like garbage at the moment and should therefore either be removed completely or renewed as previously stated. Right now this just is a sad picture for the park and this site.Greetings from team mastba
I am regretfully archiving this cache since there's been no response from nor action by the cache owner within the time frame requested in the last reviewer note.
Found on way to Anchorage for a couple of nights. Was aiming on doing some other track's but the wet weather stopped that
Walking from Totaranui to Marahau over Queens Birthday weekend... Failed miserably to get my offline list sorted on my phone (amateur much) - so most of the trip was non caching... to be fair it was pouring down for those 3 days so I wasn't prepared to hunt in the rain anyway.
Today it is beautiful... after a wet 3 days it is so nice to dry out.
A quick stop here - got hubby to reach up and grab this one for me. Poured out the water - log was dry though.

Seventh cache found while doing the Abel Tasman walk for 5 days. Unfortunately the cache was quite full of water and log was mushy but someone has put in more, TFTC!
Day 1 of our Abel Tasman experience. Kayaked around Adele island to Observation Bay, and then walked over to Anchorage. After visiting the glow worm cave, came up here to search for this one since we'd neglected to look for it on our way in. Took a bit of searching to find it in the dark.
Second day of our trip in Abel Tasman. We started with a watertaxi that dropped us at Anchorage. Unfortunately walking out of this beautiful park today.
Cache was found quickly.
TB out.
Thanks for hiding.

Cache box filled with water. Peaceful evening away from roar of wind and waves after a few days kayaking.
It's school camp time and I am following, or leading the kids along half of the coastal track. I started here at Marahau on a Monday lunchtime, walked to Anchorage for the first night, Onetahuti for the second night, back to Anchorage for the third and the out to Marahua on Thursday morning and down to Motueka for a shower on the last night. All up, 78 km of walking on the track, popping down to most of the bays and sidetracks along the way, 11 hours moving and 8 hours 45 minutes stopped for eating, resting and cache searching. Easily spotted this one, emptied out all the water and made my mark on the best condition piece of paper and dropped in a TB. Replaced with a bit more grass cover
Took a while to find this one on our last day walking the Abel Tasman track. Poured a lot of water out of it and started new log in snaplock bag. Will need some maintenance. TFTC
Another quick find here. We pretty much had the track to ourselves today as we only saw a couple of other groups on our walk. The area around Anchorage was the same - this place should be pumping. TFTC ProjectJanszoon.
Another great weekend in the Nelson area visiting RG1972. We packed a fair bit in - a tramp in the Abel Tasman N.P, a trip to Richmond craft market, a challenging 10k run with a sting in the tail, and we made some face masks for our trip up north next week. In between some good cooking and some donuts from Motueka’s finest - and a few caches on the way. But caching was a definite backseat this weekend. Still, a small handful found, and plans made to get more in the N.P. Thanks all COs.

A wonderful day planned in the Abel Tasman & we started in Kaiteri . It included a boat trip into Medlands Beach near Bark Bay, a hike to Anchorage & then the boat back to Kaiteri. A few cool stops on the way at Split Apple Rock, seal colony & migrating birds chilling on the open waters.

Could be seen from track, so no trouble finding.

Found on my descent to the beach. Was well tucked away and also filled with water. Not ideal containers for geocaching unfortunately. Emptied it out as best I could and tucked it away again. TFTC.
We found this cache during our holidays, on a hinking tour in the Abel Tasman Nationalpark!

On a sunny and cloudy day with some sprinkles I hiked a part of the Abel Tasman Track. The water taxi took me to Anchorage and I hike the beautiful track back to Marahau. It was a wonderful day and the rain started to get heavy when I reached the car - perfect timing. Thanks for all the caches that I could find on this perfect day!

Found this regular box laying on the ground....everything inside was wet, so left a sheet of paper inside a dry,new plastic sealable bag and replaced cache on foliage above path. TFTC
Apologies for the late logging and cut 'n' paste but now Mr & Mrs Castoff are back in the UK at the same time we're catching up on the Geocaching adventures. We took hundreds of photographs but were too busy looking at stunning scenery across NSW and New Zealand to make copious notes. TFTC.
Walked past it so had to go back. Couldn't sign as soaked so photo logged. Tftc
This was our first one on the way back. There was water in the box so everything is wet. Logged at the cover.
Found as a part of a previous group TanjackMüley, now WanderingSparrow. Now I'm continuing on my own. TFTC
Completely in the open and I mean you can’t miss it if you pass it. The original log is just a wet mess to signed the temp yellow log placed by a friendly cacher. We will hide the best we can. Thanks! *as all the grass is dead within a good few meters on the gz we put higher up but still reachable from the path and placed dead grass on top* I would say the co should come and check on this cache and figure what’s best for its future.
Cache was fill of water and log book floating. Emptied out the water and added a semi waterproof log sheet in a plastic bag.
On a road trip south, enjoying the day and pic up some caches. TFTC

What a wonderfull time. I`'m visiting NZ for 10 weeks and find a lot of beautiful places. Nice views and some pretty caches. With my wife kaari74 we log some of these caches. One of them is this one. Thanks all owners for your job.
a wonderful holiday with 2 friends in NZ - thanks for all the great caches we found here
This coastal path was definitely on our itinerary when visiting from the UK. We camped at Kaiteriteri and caught the sea shuttle from the beach there and were dropped off at Medlands Bay. We then walked back along the trail until we reached Appletree Bay where we caught the ferry back to the start.
It was a fabulous walk and the views were amazing and the beaches stunning.
It was interesting to read about Project Janszoon and how the local school children are involved with this area. What lucky children they are to be able to have lessons in such a glorious environment.
The coordinates are spot-on so it was a quick find. However the container is in rather a sorry state but we see that a Needs Maintenance log has already been submitted. The container is damaged and therefore letting in water and there was nothing we could do unfortunately.

As previous logger said, log sheet very wet but a quick find here none the less. At the end of our walk from Apple Tree Bay. TFTC.

We were so lost in conversation, that we walked straight past the Cache location. After backtracking a bit we quickly found the container. The original logbook was completely drenched and the replacement log was already damp. Not sure how long it will survive...

*Day 5 of our amazing trip*
blumen-wiese and I found this cache during a little stroll about the neighbourhood of the campsite. The hint was very helpful here. Unfortunately, this was the only cache of this series that we could find - the others eluded us, most likely because of the waning daylight.
Thanks to the CO and greetings from Austria!

Found this Geocache during our multi-day hike along the Abel Tasman Coastal Track. TFTC!
Cache full of water! Log book is in bag of water! Wee log paper is barely dry enough to write on. We’ll try and hide better to keep water out. TFTC
In the dusk it took a while, but I was persistent as it could not hide long due to size.

Visiting New Zealand for three weeks. After hanging around Auckland for a few days it was time to head south! After an early morning flight I looked for a few caches in Nelson and Richmond, then hitchhiked to Abel Tasman National Park for a short walk in the southern part, spent the night camping in Torrent Bay, then back to Marahau and a ride to Kaikoura.

Almost went past but easily found after letting the gps settle. Notebook is soaked and not usable but thankfully someone left a dry sheet to sign. Thanks for the rest stop on a steep climb.
This hill needs a diversion; in fact it could do with a few more. Thanks for providing one. And thanks for the great work you are doing in the park.
This 1 was fun coz I hadn't preloaded it. Thankfully it was a good spot that saved the trip. Notebook beyond writeability but signed the extra paper TFTC!
I was out on a 4 day walk of the Abel Tasman Track, from Marahau to Wainui. Day 1 was from Marahau to Anchorage and I took a look for this cache along the way. I walked back and forwards along the track a couple of times, looking in the bushes till I spotted the cache. TFTC!
We did manage to find this one on a hike from apple tree bay to anchorage. We really enjoyed the walk on this superb day! Greetings from Switzerland! We love it!
Day One and my only goal for Geocaching was to try and find one a day which I achieved and today I even managed two. I started out at Morehau and walked through to Anchorage and stayed at the DOC Hut which was pretty fancy. An undulating track with a last steep hill section heading down into the bay. Breathtaking scenery. Enjoyed sitting on the beach boiling a cuppa and watching the sun go down.
Found the cache after a short search. Replacement log in good order.

The big day has arrived, time to walk on the track for a ways at least, then water-taxi back from Anchorage. Gave ourselves plenty of walking time, despite a fairly late departure which allowed the day to warm up a little for us. We did all the side track walks too and all up walked around 18kms I reckon. Got to Anchorage at around 2.30pm after leaving the Marahau kiosk around 0900, not bad times with lunch down on Observation Beach (lots of up and down to get there)
This weekend is a four day weekend for us, Thursday and Friday on leave as we're going away for a couple of nights to Marahau for mrs capperz's birthday, walk the first part of the Abel Tasman walkway and visit out fellow quiz-team cohorts in their new house. The weather all week had been interesting and yesterday brought on torrential rain and storms for many regions, which continued through the night. The forecast was for clearing conditions and a great day for Friday, which fitted in with our walking plans. On Saturday we visited the split apple rock, marble quarry and came back via Riwaka resurgence, Ruby Bay and 'some' caches - of course.

Two days ago I had to deceide, where in the Abel Tasman National Park I will spend the day. Without information, how the transport to the bays is organized and so I deceide me for the area around the Torrent Bay. Unfortunately, I got tickets for a relatively late boat to the Torrent Bay and an early boat from Anchorage back to Kaiteriteri. So I had only 4,5 hours for my hike - not enough for all the caches on my "wishlist".
From the three caches hided in the "Project Janszoon and DOC" around Anchorage I found this cache. I could find the box more or less easily, but rechiden was more difficult. Because suddenly there was a lot of activity on the trek.
Thank you very mich for the series!

PS. I searched for the caches "a bug's life" and "Tummy troiule" too. But without sucess.

Ms M and I decided upon an Abel Tasman walk today.
We caught a water taxi from Marahau and were dropped off at Anchorage.
We walked this headland, had a swim at Anchorage and then walked to Marahau.
Last find for the day. I'm glad Ms M is with me. She's good at spotting ice cream containers.
This one had a bit of water in it but the log is still good.

Today we took the water taxi to Torrent Bay and walked back to Mararau. A great walk with superb views and too many beaches to swim at them all. We could have spended much more time here.
So I restricted caching very much, and stopped it after I got the ‚find of the day‘, which is this one. An easy find, at a muggle-free moment.
Thanks for the big box and best wishes from Germany
