Found while staying over night on this beautiful place. Highly recommended off the season ! The track is not busy at all in this time of year
Today:Had most of the day to myself, while the rest of the family did some tramping around Toteranui. That's also where I started on my MTB, going over Gibbs hill, then down to the coast, following the main road + some diversions all the way to the bottom of Takaka hill. Found 20 odd caches along the way. Good weather, nice scenery, great success! This cache:Nice quick find at GZ, tftc!
Located with Ricardinho Took a bit of work to locate this one, found on the ground & not in its hiding spot. Replaced where we thought it probably belonged after signing the log. Day two of our Goldenbay Getaway & we are off to Wainui Falls & Totaranui. I found out recently RNZ had never been to Totaranui & i wanted to rectify this travesty. Stunning day & the locations did not disappoint, RNZ is keen for a camping trip in Totaranui sometime which sounds fabulous to me! On the drive in to Totaranui we passed a nutter running down the hill, as we passed said runner I realised it was my friend Amy Next cache stop & I got to say hi as she ran past A magic day in a stunning part of Aotearoa TFTC
No idea what the hint means, and a bit apprehensive about this one as these containers are not good at keeping out the water. But this was pretty dry. Took a while to find, and a bit of a clamber, but the GPS was pointing at a couple of trees, or former trees, and I picked the right one. TFTC Today we decided to explore out to Totaranui.I have not been there before, so we packed up our day packs for a bit of light walking and headed there, as the weather was great. On the way out, we revisited Wainui Falls. We werent here that long ago, but by my reckoning three of the four caches we did find back then have been archived but resurrected under a different form, so its time for another visit.Following that, its off to Totaranui, getting all the caches on the drive in.To finish the day we grabbed a couple of caches in Takaka after visiting the supermarket. Thanks all COs.
Found extinct yesterday, had to head back to meet walking group so not able to search for actual cache to sign. Thank you- love the sign!
Well, I guess, we had tomatoes on our eyes today... That's why we were not able to spot this cache....
Found it after a while, nice spot! Logged also this one to document our journey through NZ. TFTC
Passing this cache after a lovley walk. Put in a TB the Weltenbummler. Wish him a god journey.

Saw lots of these little guys around the beach and camp today. Our last cache here before we headed back to Pohara. Beautiful place.
Found this cache after lots of looking. It was well hidden and camouflaged!TFTC
Our NEW ZEALAND - TASMANIA - AUSTRALIA JOURNEY takes us to beautiful places and provides us with an incredible number of wonderful moments and experiences.Occasionally we also visit a few GeoCaches along the way. After a short search we were able to find the "can". The cache is OK and the logbook is dry....Thank you for placing, maintaining and caring snapfish2 from Switzerland
Tftc was an easy find after the boat ride out. Taking 16 girl guides to to the Abel tasman tramp over the next 4 days.
Caches was really damp you couldn't write in the log.

Did a couple of circles before honing in on the spot. Very wet inside but a fun find while waiting for the boat.
Found during my walk around de campsite. Logbook is to wet to write my name on it. So photolog. Thanks for showing me this place.
We have been staying at this fantastic site for three nights. It took us two attempts to find the cache, but we got it in the end.
We did not find it at #13, but well hidden near “one of the neighbors”..
The cache content was in bad shape and the log was completely wet, we tried to dry it out as well as we could.
We left behind a travelbug that we hope someone will help on it’s way back to Denmark.

Found after spending the night at this campground. There is cell signal here.
The cache was full of quart so I emptied it, but it was too wet to sign, so I took a photo.

Located this cache on day one of our travels on the Abel Tasman. After getting off the boat kiwitrecker1 and I did the short deviation to this cache before heading southward. TFTC!!
A quick find as it was visible on approach. Managed to cover it better when I left. Log books were too wet and mushy to sign unfortunately. Tftc
Today we got the water taxi to Totaranui and walked back to Awaroa. Nice avenue of trees here but don't think they are native. Tftc
For this time of the year we good very lucky with the weather walking the track. We spend 3 nights in hut and 2 nights we had the whole place for ourselves. Found some geoaches on the way. TFTC
Still raining but this was an easy find thanks to its size. Don’t often see a regular sized cache these days.
The log is wet so we barely managed to sign it. TFTC

Walking the Abel Tasman Track over 3 days. Started at Totaranui and aiming to finish at Marahau 3 days later.
Of course had to pick up some caches on the way
Log book soaked managed to leave a small signature.

Day 1 of our 3 day walk to explore this area.
This one took a long time to find. We filled the gps and the hint, read logs and still empty handed. I had pretty much given up and started to walk away when Mr NZT made the find…yay!
Thanks for the cache.

Coordinates let me to an open area but plenty of possible hiding spaces not to far away.
Not in the first places I looked though, read some logs, including a recent one saying it was placed to an obvious spot. Checked again a likely spot and found there. Nice size but very wet and not in best condition, although outer container was ok.
Great campground!

Great campground!
It took us a wee while to find this cache, with the hint not providing any help. For us it was about 10 metres southeast of the coordinates, at S40 49.338 E173 00.191. TFTC
Picked up before starting the abel Tasman track and it will be cool to walk one of the nz great walks.
Nice day

Dad went off for a stroll to find this one. Plenty of Weka's and Pukeko for company around here!

Day 4 of our Abel Tasman experience. Got a shuttle to Totaranui, and then walked south to Awaroa, for a water-taxi back to Maharau. Looked for this one before we set off, but had difficulty finding it. The hint was of little use as a number of the trees are now felled. Read old logs and they consistently talked of the co-ordinates being wrong, but gave no clues as to in which direction. Expanded the search, and eventually located it 20m away from where the GPS pointed, and in a poor hiding place. Did what I almost never do, and moved it to a good hiding spot that was actually at the cache co-ordinates, to hopefully reduce the frustration for subsequent cachers. TFTC.
Wonderful cache. We are regular summer campers here and we know that no muggles ever notice when they're on holiday anyway. TFTC
Found it! Wasn't having much luck with my crappy phone GPS, so I sat down on the beach and read some logs. Nice easy find after that, tftc
Found, eventually, like the others had to resort to the hint, co ordinates not correct must bring a pen in future, pencil doesn’t work that well
Found with NZDi while out caching in the rain during our extended Marlborough Anniversary weekend holiday. It is Marlborough Anniversary weekend and our whanau took advantage of a Covid-19 reduced rate at our favourite holiday home in Pohara. Due to the reduced tariff, NZDi decided to extend our stay after the others had gone back to work and school in order to do some caching in the area. Unfortunately, the long term weather forecast didn't extend out to six months, so we didn't realise then that the weather for our extended part of the stay was the worst we have ever experienced over here.
By lunch time cabin fever had got the better of us, so we put on our coats and ventured out any way. In the end we got twelve caches between here and Totaranui and an excursion to Paynes Ford.
This was our fifth find of the afternoon and took a fair while. It was soon obvious the coordinates were no help at all, maybe the cO was taking GPS lessons from DOCTakaka, so I had to work out what the hint meant. Once that was sorted, the cache was quickly found.

Found while caching with Kiwimykl, refer to his log for details.
By the way, Kiwimykl has been on holiday too long, today he dated all his physical logs 02 Nov 2020, but it actually 03 Nov 2020.

Visiting from Nelson for a few days. Today's mission was a bike ride from Wanui Bay to Totaranui and back, with an 8km detour to Awaroa. And to find some caches along the way.
As others have said, the cache is about 18 metres from the co-ords. I just kept working along the row until I found it.
It was a pleasant delaying tactic for me, now I have to go and ride back up the hill

A pretty cool success story. We've been enjoying the wekas' company all weekend. My GPS was very wide of the mark for this one but the hint saved the day. Not too many muggle about considering its school holidays. Tftc
Cheers to the previous logs, they gave a good hinst as to where to go. We had our own weka experiance in the night, it stole our chocolate and rubbish bag. We recovered the latter but the former was all gone - only the packaging remained, found about 100m away in the bush. Grrrrrrrrrr. Cheers
Having a lunch stop at Totaranui coming from Whariwharangi hut. Should have been an easy one to find. Thanks for placing the cache
Having a short break with a muggle friend who had never been to GOlden Bay before; we (the "royal" we - she doesn't like driving...) drove out to Totaranui and enjoyed the peace with few campers.
Thank you for this cache, ProjectJanszoon. I found it to be 12-14m from the co-ords; no reception and my saved list had about 5 logs per cache - luckliy there was one which gave me enough of a hint.

I'm on leave for a couple of weeks from today. Mrs Biggles and I were supposed to be heading to America for a holiday but as international travel is off the cards for now, I've decided to do a bit more 'local' travel. This time a couple of days over in Golden Bay.
It took a wee while to find this one. Read a few logs and noted that the published coordinates may be a bit off. I found the cache about 18m from where my GPS zero'd out. TFTC, Biggles.

During our roadtrip through New Zealand I found this cache "Not Extinct Now! (Totaranui, Abel Tasman)" from ProjectJanszoon on 29 februari 2020 16:55.
Think the co-ordinates are not done with a good GPS device and a bit off, so read other logs.
Groetjes/Greetings and TFTC from a Dutchman (a long way from home, but home is here the heart is, on the bus).

Almost at the end of our NZ road trip it was great to find this DOC cache....complete with resident earwig. I HATE earwigs, lol
In our final week of our road trip around NZ it was great to find this DOC box, complete with resident earwig! Tftc
Staying at camp & decided to grab a few caches around the camp. Took travelbug. Informative information card about the Weka which there are plenty of around the camp. TFTC
Found this cache sitting out in the open. Popped it back hopefully a bit more securely. Enjoyed my stop in Totaranui today thanks Projectjanszoon. TFTC # 14,626
Not a DNF now. In fact we have no idea why we didn't find it last time. Today it was upside down I a random spot so we placed it where we thought it had come from. Lots of pukekos and wekas around so we suspect we know why it moves.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Last time we came here the cache was missing. Today it was an easy find! Finishing our 4 day tramp today. TFTC
The previous log really helped us as 0m also had us at the tree stump next door. Once we checked out the next tree along it was a quick easy find! TFTC
Hard to believe it is already our 5th day travelling the South Island in a motorhome. Our goal today was the Abel Tasman NP and staying at Totaranui. The campgrounds are pleasantly quiet before Easter. We took a TB from the cache to return to Australia with us. We will log the TB when we get better phone service.
The scenery is beautiful as always in NZ.
Thank you for the good sized cache.

There's always a first for everything and this cache was the first cache that we've had a Weka join in on the hunt! While I was turning every leaf, the Weka made the most of any insects as a result. After nearly giving up, Mr Pazza found the cache exposed some 13meters away at the next tree. Cache creep? We took 2 of the 4 Trackables. Tftc
Quick find on day 4 after traversing the camp ground. Miss a few caches back there. This one was easily found. Its full of TB's but we left them for the next cachers
